The answer in brief

machinesummary, machine-written

Mufti Abu Layth says critics such as Yasir Qadhi will not join him on Mind Trap, and he feels the real reason is that they are intimidated by him.

In more detail

A chat viewer asks him to do a Mind Trap with Yasir Qadhi. Mufti Abu Layth says he would love to, but does not think Yasir Qadhi would come on, and that he is better off with academics and free thinkers who are not concerned about the mob, since followers often control imams more than imams control them. He suggests such figures may not want to lend him legitimacy or make him more famous, though they share platforms with Christians and atheists, and says he honestly feels a bigger reason, which they will not own up to, is that they are insecure and intimidated by him. He mentions a Facebook critic and others who criticise him publicly but decline a discussion, and repeats his invitation to come on and talk. Asked why Salafi Sunnis hate him so much, Mufti jokes that when all kinds of people hate you, you must be doing something right.

Let's take do a mind trap with Yaser Kadi. Yeah. Uh, absolutely. I'd love to get Yaser Khadi on, but I don't think Yaser Khadi would come on. You see, a lot of people say to me, "My get such and such uh people on um Right. Right. People say, you know, uh Hannah said Randall is the best character." [laughter] Yeah, they're they're all good.

26:33

I mean, there's they're good. this different but I uh yeah it's definitely I advise people to watch it if you haven't watched it that is this is us but it depends what you're into right coming back to this question um a lot of people say to me why don't you get such and such on Mind trap why don't you get such and such the truth is a lot of these people don't want to come on to Mind Trap with me um you're better off I'm better off dealing with like academics or you [snorts] know freethinking people who are not so

27:08

um concerned about the mob. Um yeah because it's it's interesting who controls who who controls who. You would imagine that a lot of these uh imams and shs they control their following but it's actually to a great extent in reverse. Their following controls them and some of them just break out a bit with uh [laughter] somebody said do a mind trap with Yasar Khadi and call it Return of the Big D.

27:40

[laughter] Yeah. And so people like Yas Khadi or these people, they definitely wouldn't want to come on for whatever reason. Maybe they feel it would lend legitimacy to me. Maybe they feel we don't want to make him more famous. [laughter] Right? So that could be a reason that people think look I don't want to make muy ab more famous.

28:07

[laughter] Well like it or not a famous hog baba [laughter] right so the but the thing is that yeah so I think that sometime sometimes they feel oh we can't share a platform with them because it would legitimize their views it would extend a legitimation which is weird because they're happy to share a platform with Christians with non-Muslims with atheists with agnostics

28:41

with you know uh but me apun it's like no no no no deviant deviant with a capital with a big d [laughter] the uh other reason is and this is one that they won't own up to I honestly feel this is actually one of the bigger reasons but they will play this reason down that is that they are insecure pure and intimidated by me.

29:12

They feel that in a discussion they may come out looking um slightly not slightly they may come out looking weak in a discussion with me or maybe I might um and that may be many angles here. One angle may be that they come out looking weak or that maybe I might throw certain questions on them and challenge them and they won't be able to answer it on the spot.

29:38

So it will make them look really like what the hell you know our great sheh couldn't answer you know Mu's questions. So, I actually feel that is one of the main reasons they don't come on. Although they won't uh be honest, you know, it's like there's this guy on Facebook. I don't know how I don't think he's that learned. Like he's not a she or anything, but maybe he's like somebody who's read some things and he goes around acting like ah.

30:05

[laughter] His name is Mas Vahi or Vahi or he spells it vahi or something. I don't know. But something like this. I don't know what origin he is, but I'm presuming [snorts] the way he writes his name. He's either Arab or of Middle Eastern kind of uh origin. I've never seen a picture of him, so I don't know what he looks like, but he will do all these things on on Facebook and, you know, and he he criticizes people and he criticized me on several occasions and people tagged me in and I kind of said to him, "Look, why don't you just come

30:44

on Mind Trap with me?" And they're like, "No, no," and and he's like, "Oh, you know, I'm sorry. I'm a shy I'm not a shy person. I'm not a public person. you know, but then and then he'll go back to publicly [laughter] criticizing me and you think, you know, what the hell is that about? And him and and and who was it recently?

31:09

There was uh I think Dr. Shi or or whoever bunch of these people they will say oh um it's yeah you don't yeah don't you know you shouldn't go on a public platform with him because publicly they will say uh I I don't want to extend any legitimation to this person I don't want people to think he's legitimate

31:38

sales [laughter] [gasps] does your dad sit on the seat of legitimizing people. [laughter] So my point isn't about I couldn't give a damn about who they are or whatever, but my point is if you're going to criticize me, why not just come on the platform and have a discussion with me, you know, just just say it. I won't I I can promise you I won't swear at you.

32:04

I won't you know, obviously, you know, I'm not going to Nobody's going to attack you. You're online for God's sake. Um, and just ask me the questions. Let me ask you questions. Let's just have a discussion. But, but no, never, you know. [laughter] So, I've there's been a few super chats. Let me just get to them people. Kiwi Rockstar, you're doing it. You're doing it. Muya Mashia, why do Salafi Sunnis hate you so much?

32:32

[laughter] I don't know, man. And you, you know, when up when all kinds of people hate you, you got to be doing something right. [laughter] That's the way I see it. That That's the way That's the way it is, right? You're doing it. Much love. Much love, people. You're doing it.

32:54

Uh, let me just go. you know that uh John's poem that that you know it's just one art that I've mastered that whosoever you meet make sure [laughter] they they hate you when when you're finished.

33:23

That's uh somebody said no audio. No, don't say that at this stage. I've been talking for so long. I'm sure it can't be no audio. How are people uh Abraham happy Diwali? You do is it Diwali? Somebody said Macron is the president.

33:46

Oh, Shukran. Shukran. I said prime minister, right? But I will get to that. That's just in a while. Just look in there's a super chat. I just want to answer that. Mhm. Tell us a story like I Abu Hanifh and the drunkard. [laughter] Brad, you're doing it. Brad, you're doing it. Huh? Or from your time abroad?
