What this part covers
machinesummary, machine-writtenThere is nothing wrong with a message about modesty: like avoiding profanity in front of children, social propriety has a place even when one disagrees on details. Tariq Jamil's apology, he says, was big of him.
In more detail
Mufti Abu Layth says Maulana Tariq Jamil has since apologised on television, saying he made a mistake and should not have said it, which Mufti calls big and telling of so well-known a figure, although he himself did not think it was that bad or that he named women as the cause. He says there is nothing wrong in having a message about modesty. He compares it to profanity: he does not personally believe swearing in general is haram, yet he would not do it in front of his children or want them to, since each setting has its etiquette and propriety and it is good for society to have such guidelines even when one disagrees on particulars. He says, allowing that people may disagree with him, that such voices remain important, that Tariq Jamil is not a Taliban-like voice, and that he himself said nobody should impose these things, giving the example of someone being forced to pray without wudu.

you see I think because people whether we agree with the ins or outs they need these general reminders just to reflect I don't know that's what I I feel so even if I disagreed with Maulana tariq jameel on certain particulars but I would feel that as a universal that this kind of a voice is an important necessary voice in society you know something that makes people reflect something that makes people kind of think at times and I didn't feel that he was being misogynistic I'm being but that said he actually came on TV since
then and he issued in himself he stated an apology he said that look I apologize if I hurt anybody's feelings and and he says I I'm he said he says he made a mistake he shouldn't have even said that and I think that is so big and telling of him that he can actually do that that because he's you know he's huge as a name to come and openly admit to look say okay I made a mistake hands up but I didn't even really think that he was being that bad and I didn't think he was saying or women with the cause of although to be okay if you know he kind of did mention that look oh we need to
wear as modesty gone and so on but there's nothing wrong in having a message about modesty you see because it's interesting because we have to remember that this sometimes there's certain things we might do them but we don't want them done as rules in society like like let's say with your children so like I don't believe personally it's Haram this way I you know I don't mean swearing at people but just generally profanity in it's like if I said ah F this man well I don't think that's Haram but I wouldn't want to do that in front of my children and I wouldn't want them to be
using profanity in front of me like so I you know this this etiquettes I guessed you know this like propriety there's this certain each setting has a kind of guidelines if you like that there's rules and and it's good to have some of these things in society even if on a level of particulars you may disagree with certain things but to have them I don't know that's maybe I don't know maybe people disagree with me on that but I I feel that these voices are still important voices in society and he's not in like a Taliban voice he's not like somebody like beat him down and in fact
he even said look nobody should ever try to impose these things he gave the example of when I was he said when he used to be in school or college or wherever it was they used to you know somebody used to impose a Lhasa age to pray without Woodall so this was his point so I write I I don't know I I feel that my thoughts on
