Mufti Abu Layth says al-Yaqoubi has released an edition of Sahih al-Bukhari advertised as the most authentic copy on earth, which he picked up on because he and Bukhari 'have a thing'. He says al-Yaqoubi's claim that his copy is based on the Sultaniyya is empty, since every copy of Bukhari is based on the Sultaniyya, and that al-Yaqoubi has since backtracked to say that his copy is based on the Sultaniyya which is the most authentic copy, meaning the overwhelming majority of copies on earth are the most authentic. He compares this to calling an athlete the best and, when others are shown to outperform him, answering that the athlete is human and humans are the best, and jokes about it in broken English. He says such things go on because this is really just business, which he says he loves and has nothing against, quoting the pirate in Captain Phillips who says he is a businessman; al-Yaqoubi's journey, like many before him, has gone from the word to the corpus of followers, from which it is a tiny step to corporation, and he wishes him more money. He adds, however, that using such tactics is problematic.
