The answer in brief
machinesummary, machine-writtenMufti Abu Layth defends Birmingham but calls drugs a cancer in its Muslim community, and says cannabis should be legalised and regulated.
In more detail
A chat question asks, crudely, whether Birmingham is a bad place. Mufti Abu Layth says he loves Birmingham and finds the vibe good, though as a large city it has run-down areas. Mufti says drugs are a wretched cancer in the community and that in Birmingham many, perhaps most, of the dealers are Pakistani Muslims, recounting friends' observation that in Canada the pattern is reversed between Pakistanis and Sikhs. He says this is why he thinks several drugs, especially cannabis, should be legalised and regulated, and attributes a rural mindset to the large share of British Pakistanis from Mirpur. In passing he says slits in the eyebrows are fine.

Position stated
Mufti Abu Layth says he thinks several drugs should be legalised, especially things like cannabis.
“drugs should be legalized i i do feel that you know especially things like cannabis and stuff like because it would just cut out this entire market and then it could be regulated”

is birmingham a proper bleep hole [Laughter] right i i actually love birmingham um no i don't think it's a crap hole i think it's amazing i think you see i think there's areas which are run down because it's a large city it's obviously the second largest city in the entire united kingdom um so there are areas that are a bit run down you know very um not much investment in them there are some areas like there's some
areas very very pretty very kind of uh expensive very middle-class kind of things so you do get that as well but and you'll get a lot of like in between um there's a lot of investment in birmingham it's a lot of people i generally feel that the vibe is good but that's me uh people may disagree but i feel it's decent it is a shame that there is this side to it as well i mean i i'm not saying as it's this is exclusive to birmingham but it is there in birmingham as well uh even if we don't see it
but this whole this side of crime drugs mainly drugs and what kind of goes with it so drugs is a a wretched cancer in you know in in the corpus of the community and muslims unfortunately are within the uk they are well immersed in the drug scene so you know a lot of drugs are circulated by muslims a lot of drug dealers are muslims um so you see although that doesn't involve the general public so they do have like
let's say you know sometimes you'll see these whatsapp clips of there may be a shooting or there may be like between rivals and so some of them maybe or attacking or you know this is between drug dealers they do stuff you don't see it but you might get a viral clip on whatsapp where you will you know now obviously in day-to-day life if you're around you wouldn't notice these things and it doesn't really involve it's not like they go around trying to attack normal people of the public because that's that would be stupid it's usually between like one drug dealer is trying to rob another drug dealer stash or
he's trying to do stuff like this so this is it's it's a shame it's an embarrassment it's disappointing that most of these or if not many of these people um or in birmingham i would argue most perhaps are muslim pakistani usually so it is a shame that parents don't really i mean i don't know what power the parents would have now anyway over these people because they would be grown you know men but even if they're young men but parents generally tend to have a turn a blind eye to all of these
you know they you know it's interesting i was talking the other day um with um i mean just yesterday day before yesterday with uh ashara and arami i don't know doing it rami right so and it's interesting we're talking about the the kind of uh juxtapose in canada uh with the the uk and it was fascinating that they were telling me that this description of how muslims are in the uk especially pakistani muslims is how in canada the sikh
community is it's very kind of involved in the drug scene involved in all of that in involved in and the very you know the the more educated middle class scene that we might see sometimes here with indians um is over there with pakistanis and it's interesting it's just the opposite they were saying but here that whole scene of that very rural mindset and just is is definitely with pakistani muslims and it's a shame but i don't know um you know may allah make things it's this is why i think that several
drugs should be legalized i i do feel that you know especially things like cannabis and stuff like because it would just cut out this entire market and then it could be regulated and people could take them sensibly and they would be you know pure but yeah so i i don't know i don't know right yeah somebody said brom is full of uh of wobblers
birmingham is mini mirbur the uk is mini mirpor because majority of the muslim pakistanis in the uk i would assume maybe 75 percent if not 70 are all from mutual back in pakistan and they're all from a very rural uh understanding and this is why we have that even in religion because that's where they're coming from back home
right unless you're starting my dad doesn't reason he just exercises authority and then he wonders why i left is it okay to slash eyebrows not pluck slash what do you mean like have a cut through them yeah it's it's okay if you want to do that there's nothing wrong with that kappa khan said as a wise man called ice cube once said they give us guns and drugs and then they wonder why we thugs some wise words right there rom is full of wobblers it you know the interesting thing is
that um in uh in birmingham every group every sect has a strong denomination which is very interesting because you see everything cancels out everything then see because that's the kind of art if you look at how you know from a scientific perspective you see if you get everything and it's all powerful you get nothing you know you know what's that poem of johnelia
