What this part covers
machinesummary, machine-writtenMufti Abu Layth suggests that today one sacrifice could serve a whole village or locality, with the money saved given to the poor.
In more detail
Mufti Abu Layth shows a joke image of a vegan qurbani and says that Americans criticising the animal sacrifice in Mecca are in no position to speak, given the scale of the American beef industry. Mufti then says Muslims should introspect about the udhiyah: it is not the meat that reaches God but taqwa, and the Prophet sacrificed on behalf of himself, his household and, in some reports, the ummah. Mufti notes that the Maliki school already allows one sacrifice for a whole household and suggests that in this day and age maybe one offering could be made for an entire village or locality, with the money saved given to the poor. Mufti adds that he does not think everybody really needs to still be sacrificing, calling these his thoughts.
Position stated

“maybe in this day and age the the thei could be you know one for an entire kind of village if you like um or an entire even you know locality has just one offering”

la. [laughter] So right what is going down? Eid has passed us by. A rather different feel to this year's Eid. I did see this and I thought, well, let me uh share this people. What do you think of this? My Kurbani. [laughter] You see, you turn up for your Kurbani and you end up with the vegan.
[laughter] Oh, that's sorry. Yeah, I almost brought us into the masala segment. [laughter] [gasps] I was meant to [gasps] Right.
So people, but what do you think of this though? Vegan Kurbani. So a parcel of food is delivered um on a person's behalf and they offer a vegan kurbani. Uh [snorts] you know I feel that uh is Hak Subi and Phillip you're doing it with the super chat.
Much love. I will get to your questions in just a moment. Um just speaking about this for a moment. Orbani. Um, now I've seen a bit of some hoo-ha on um, social media. Uh, I think some Americans saying, "What the hell? You know, in Mecca, they slaughter all these animals and blah blah blah." And to be honest, I feel that look, you know, they're not in no position to speak, right?
Everybody knows the steak industry, the American beef industry is is of, you know, it's of uh cataclysmic proportions. Uh so it's nothing to do. So I I find that just so ironic, people making an issue about the Muslims when their own countries are out of control on these things.
But as Muslims ourselves introspecting, I feel we should introspect. We should look into um our own kind of societies and what we're doing and what are the thoughts and kurbani is a point. So there was a time where I feel that look cuz clearly when it comes to kurbani when it comes to the in Arabic the or the which is and in udu or commonly sometimes people call it kurbani it's also kurbani is also an Arabic word for
the kind of sacrifice. Now we know it's not the meat that reaches god. Okay, it clearly doesn't. So, [snorts] it's the Allah says that it is the tawa that reaches Allah. And we know that the prophet sallallah.aii wasallam as he began uh he later on restrain not restrained but brought it in.
Um teaching us that eventually that one person could sacrifice. The prophet in a hadith he sacrificed on behalf of himself, his family, uh his near and dear and then uh in certain reayat on behalf of the ummah. Now I feel that and even if there is some calam in the chain but I feel taking this teaching forward with us that in this day and age the Maliki meth would allow a person anyway the school of Medina for in on on behalf of their entire household as in no matter how many people are in that household I
would say this needs to go up several notches because it's symbolic and maybe in this day and age the the thei could be you know one for an entire kind of village if you like um or an entire even you know locality has just one offering I feel that there's uh and what they could do is
now that's not going to cost so much to obviously get one [laughter] animal for an entire village or an entire uh you know locality. But what I would say is that then they could spend the equivalent that they were to spend on the poor. Okay? They could gift that uh to the poor, whoever the poor are. And I feel that that is the the way forward for um you know for things like cuz I don't think everybody really needs
to still be sacrificing. I don't know. That's my thoughts. I think that you know that [laughter] I don't want to say [gasps] uh [laughter] then I'll be stuck.
I'll be in the woods of uh [laughter] [laughter] [laughter] Ah, right. So, what is going down? I don't know what your thoughts are on on that.
[snorts] Uh, so yeah. All right. You're doing it, people. you're doing it. He also says the word. All right. So, right, let's go to some of these questions that have been thrown up. We're going to take a look at um uh in the masala segment at our one of our beloveds beloved Baba Farid Farid Gangelli.
