this is not a miracle but to walk on earth is a miracle and every step that you take is a miracle and every breath that you take is a miracle and every heartbeat is a miracle while but the mightiest miracle that you have is the mightiest of Mighty of Miracles that you have is that you are from the um of muham and whatever Allah subhah wa taala
has given to this this um he's not given to any other um why because of the Prophet so he's given giving us Allah is giving us special things because of the of the prophet and this is why our tradition calls us to expose ourselves to naat to breezes that are sent by Allah subhah wa ta'ala and each Breeze brings packages of and an and Barat and today alhamdulillah like you know when you are displaced you see it on news on the news people are displaced
and so on and you see planes passing over throwing over packages to sustain them in the same manner Allah subhah wa ta'ala throws these blessings upon you in packages and in each package like we said and today alhamdulillah Allah subhah waala has given us a package the package has come via Birmingham alhamdulillah so we we are very honored really honored it's a pleasure to host really someone who's coming
forward to represent the of the Prophet preserve him and bless his parents this is very important that we shouldn't forget the parents of the people uh the Sheikh is from here alhamdulillah he traveled first to Sham did you go sham first I did yeah yeah he went to sham so we say that we Allah bless our sham and he was there for about year and a half in in Damascus taking from the of sham and then he went to Pakistan to
Islam Abad where he memorized the whole Quran and then he went to Karachi and yes Pakistan is not only known for kebabs and roties but we have real great Mah in Pakistan and Indo Pac so from there alhamdulillah he went through the whole D naazia program and then afterwards just to add top of that mallah he did a 2-year Muti program so alhamdulillah after qualifying he came back alhamdulillah he did his Masters he's a teacher uh presently I'm told that he's doing a degree in Psychology alhamdulillah so we really need to
support these type of people alhamdulillah mallah so s if you just take over for inviting me to come here to share some some moments and perhaps some words and Thoughts with you uh the package you spoke of is in the
car I'll deliver that later on so but we're reminded of a Hadith and I think it's always a good Hadith to begin a gathering with uh in which the prophet Sall alhi wasam teaches us that that that people that people do not Gather in a house really meaning a place a house or Place committed to the remembrance of Allah the worship glorification of
Allah that that they do not recite his words and then study it amongst them or try and learn or take benefit from these words except that t that Tranquility will descend upon them and that the angels will envelop this this whole they will kind of surround this whole uh
environment and that the mercy will completely immerse these people and that these people that they have glorified the name of Allah they have made remembered Allah Allah is surely remembering them and has remembered them in a gathering much greater so that is an awesome inspiration for us all that to be a part of any of these gatherings and there is another interesting Hadith which I like to sometimes bring up at the beginning as well and that's related some people say it's perhaps part of the same Hadith in which the Angels they then go up and
and they speak to Allah and they say that I've come from this Gathering and it's a very popular Hadith but the ending of it is actually much I find is extremely significant in the ending of the Hadith the prophet Allah subhana tala says to the angels that tell the that let it be known that I have forgiven these people that that I have I have given to them granted them each and all of what they have ask but what's interesting then is some
some of the Angels say that that he that there's somebody that just sat with them who wasn't really meant to be there he was somebody with alternative plans but he he passed by and he thought what the hell am might as well just sit down or or unfortunately might be stuck there thinking damn I'm stuck I need to get out but I'm just I'm just going to sit in what about him cuz he's not objectively he's not meant to
be so Allah says that even him there such a people who sit for my remebrance for my glorification for this Dean anybody who sits with them will never lose out so that is some amazing words of inspiration passed to us in this Trad people we are in defining times anybody I mean make no mistake about that this era that we are
in Allah how long there is for people to come and how many generations of people will come after us and what hundreds or thousands of years or not we don't know but these times that we're in are defining crucial and pivotal they will be remembered just us alone in this in in this climate that we're in in this type of in the time in the in the part of the world that we are in is absolutely crucial
Islam is going through a sense of and I say Islam but it's really the people that's Ma I mean it's actually the people people who are supposed to be representing Islam but Islam is going through some turbulence and we are all caught up in it the messenger of Allah sallallahu alaihi wasallam warned us or gave us some you could say almost like premonitions in some Hadith saying that some fan will descend that these fan will surely descend these trials tribulations these
interesting times like the dark layers of a night where the visual field is so restricted you cannot actually see beyond just a few yards at best this is like that they will descend layer upon layer it just gets darker and darker that these and this Darkness isn't speaking about a literal Darkness he's not saying oh it's just going to get dark there isn't going to be it's and
it's not necessarily just speaking about it it does include things like oh there will be whether there's calamities and whether there's earthquakes or tsunamis and these type of things yes there will be those type but it's not restricted to that the prophet sallallah alaihi wasallam adds in another Hadith that that that a child a newborn child will almost turn old his hair will turn white from that type of fitan from that type of confusion now this isn't this is a a
figure of speech the Arabs use this a lot you know or what you know that which makes children you know makes their hair turn white it doesn't literally mean that it means that Things become so what completely puzzles you such is a time that has descended upon us but Islam is for every time and every place it isn't restricted to just a it wasn't just for the Arabian Peninsula it wasn't just
for the amazing sahaba and the students of it was for all times it was for all places and it has stood the test of time Islam has spread I mean against the greatest of odds at times nothing short of a miracle as the brother spoke before about miracles if you want to see Miracles it's it's an amazing Miracle to just reflect upon the history that we have as Islam unfolds for it to reach us today this is why Allah subhana tala
time and time again within the Quran reminds us take take heed so we find ourselves in this in this age where there's so much going on especially recently I would say within especially the last decade decade and a half there seems to be so much that seems to be happening on a global scale but things which come straight back to us here from one perspective you could say Islam is so highlighted in the media
every almost every day one perspective or another whether it's you know social media or mainstream media whether it's chat shows or whether it's programs and I'm talking about secular programs secular chat shows Islam is coming up time and time again more often than not in a negative light so from one perspective it feels it does appear that Islam has almost been
hijacked I did explain I I I'm referring to Islam but it is really the portrayal or the reflection of certain Muslims it is not obviously Islam but that's how Islam is judged it's judged by the people unfortunately whereas in essence when we look back to the teachings that has taught us Islam that really we are just a people that have been honored by Islam not Islam being honored by us not Islam being carried by us it has
actually carried us that if we were to leave it or abandon it Allah will turn us to that debased state where we what we actually deserve the question is that we have we are in a time there's that angle where Islam The Deen is being hijacked you could say and there's huge confusion about what Islam actually is in terms of is it all about uh intolerance is it all about just my way or the highways all about everybody's just on there's these
type of questions being thrown and that has its ramifications there are many uh especially younger people growing up sometimes embarrassed of Islam what they perceive to be Islam embarrassed that we don't want to be a part of this and they see some you know crazy whacked out person saying something and and they think ah damn you know God that am I linked to that as well and there's the the absolute extremities where there's acts of whether there's terrorism or things like but even on a lower scale coming down there's still things like people saying sometimes crazy things or just being W
and that embarrasses a lot of people they don't want to be a part of it there's this angle but then there's other angles there's angles that we live in an age where there I mean it is in the age of postmodernism we live in an age where there's so many questions philosophical questions the age that and the era that we are in it it's not about ultimate questions anymore I don't mean from an Islamic perspective I mean generally so people are not going around asking what is the purpose of life is there a Creator why I mean some people may ask
this but this is not the general Trend this isn't what's trending so to speak like it's not what people are asking are other they've moved this is the whole thing about postmodernism it's shifted from the ultimate questions to just oh you should be a good person you should find alternative values within life that you can settle with and and it's got all of its debates and dialogues and so there's there's these things out there are Muslims tackling or engaging with this discourse these that's another perspective that's another angle out
there then we have another angle where those of us that are let's say trying to practice Islam we have questions sometimes certain things that what do I have to do this in this particular way I mean surely you know Islam should allow me to do certain thing sometime sincere questions that can vary and it's something that I want to actually explore with all of you guys in uh shortly I would like to inshallah see some of the questions that you guys have got maybe we can discuss them and see some coming out of that but questions which are genuine questions and sometimes disturbing
sometimes people they could be ranging from you know if why is Allah allowing these things to happen such and such and such which Fair those questions have been coming for centuries for thousands of years people have been looking at what they call him philosophy theodes you know how can if God is all loving and all this then how can evil exist in the world and stuff like that exists to lesser questions and more Islamic that why you know why is is why is Allah or I say Allah why is the Shar Islamic guidance making a difference between men and women why is it doing this why these are questions which people genuine Muslims have sometimes they ask
sometimes they're too afraid to ask they feel that they'll be too sideline marginalized why is this done in a particular way why does you know even from Salah why is a woman not allowed to pray then why is there a certain age for something why is uh talak done in a particular way that's so you know instantaneous why is there's so people are struggling to try and reconcile and it doesn't this is a bit weird or it's a bit you I don't know there's all of this going on and then there's sometimes those of you who do study you might have other questions why is there a difference in
Islam why is there why isn't it all just one God One messenger one Quran one Dean one response why is there difference why is there you know this is according to himal and according to himam how can that be if the Quran is one you know that the messenger of Allah was was one he doesn't speak you know it's supposed to left you upon this clear path that its night is like its day so why this
confusion all of these things are here and they have immersed I we are immersed in in these issues in this whether we know it or not we're struggling and then it doesn't stop there because we've got other issues cultural issues we don't know where to stand when it comes to culture is culture Dean is Dean culture are we meant to be how much percent like this because it's you know are we supposed to be sticking to these Eastern values are we supposed to be sticking does Islam overrule does this overrule does family culture what all of these things as well in addition to other aspects of let's
say that people this is very specific localized like let's say elements of racism and things like this which many Muslims continue to face every day here in in this part of the world especially whether it's subtle whether it's institutional I don't mean it has to be the open racism like you so and so but it could be subtle it could be you know people not being given jobs because of this not been do they're not going to but it exists this institutional racism so these are so many of the problems that I'm that we're faced with the question is Okay so we've identified all of this so what the hell do we do about it like is there an answer to any of this are you just is
this just Doom and Gloom we're just going to go through the problems only see there's an interesting Hadith that the prophet Sall Al wasallam said that that Allah does not allow a disease to come down or to be created or to be to manifest except he had sent for it a [Music] cure those who knew it knew it and those who did not
didn't that we did not send a messenger except with the tongue of the people in this is our answer the answer is to these problemss the solution isn't going to just descend from the Heavens to us it isn't like okay damn we're stuck all right you know quick we need some support troubleshooting Allah's going to send down all these angels or these forces or a quick new a new guidance book to say okay here's your this is a manual s the
answer is going to come from us we are the Cavalry right so as disappointing as that sounds this is it so the people the solutions will come within we will step forward people from amongst us will rise they will learn they will Empower they will bring about Solutions you know somebody once asked a scholar he said he said you know when when people if people were to reach the moon well what direction what direction would they pray Salah
in and the point was that and and and they asked this I know this is now a lot more visual for us in a way because people have reached although as civil as a society we haven't reached the moon but I mean as you know explorers and so on astronauts we have but this was asked previously I mean a I mean not just now in this Century it been asked for you know people have been hypothesizing forever they said what what would what would we do he said you know those people the response was when that time comes those people will find their answers there's an amazing um transmission by K Y I'm sure you all
familiar with the The Legend from alandus and from I mean very famous Maliki scholar from almost 900 years ago author of The shifa he in his book mad he trans it's this biographies of amazing people he has a section on Abdullah Mubarak who was a very amazing scholar of this um amazing had his own a much and you know I I take I digress slightly since I'm mention abdah muak even him it's mentioned about him
that he himself initially was not somebody so you could say maybe attracted to the dean in fact some stories I hope I'm not getting this wrong since you're recording some stories they actually mention to the extent unless damn right the thing if if I get this wrong don't worry we have to settle it with abdulah Mubarak later on that they mentioned that he was somebody who actually liked a bit of his uh you know a bit of his drink and a bit of uh back in the days I mean so and one of the interesting narration is that he
actually found himself I mean quite often drunk but on this one occasion he had kind of been completely knocked out he kind of coming back to a bit of his senses and he heard this verse being recited that where he's and it's something like Dawn time and he's kind of collapsed damn and now that I've heard the verse me that
uh but that this that he hears this verse being recited that has the time not come that's it that has the time not come for those people who believe to kind of to turn to this remembrance but he says it hit him so hard just out of the blue this one verse that he thought W and he says that it was almost like like an Awakening that he just shook him and he
turns to the Masid and from what he embarks on is an amazing journey that not only changes him but people around him forever he becomes one of the most amazing Scholars of this um and he was a legend also in Hadith abdah muak was a legend in Hadith and he eventually he has his own M as well I know some of the hania tried to say he was hanafi but he wasn't I hate to disappoint them he actually had his his own M Abdullah muak did and the interesting thing it's actually famous the dialogue between him and IM Abu hanifah that when they CU they do spend
some time together that um that when he's praying his Salah he to do so um when they finish their Salah I mean this is transmitted it's actually also transmitted by this as well that he turned abif turned to him and said like he says that are you trying to take off and he says I'm okay he says if I don't take off with my first one it's all right I'm going to stay stay on the ground but the point is that um Abdullah muak he he
spends his life dedicates it to obviously the Shar and Toth and he's sorting out who's lying and who you know which chains are fabricated and which is this and which is that and who's weak and preserving the Sunnah of the Prophet preserving this Dean now when it approach when the time comes for him to almost die and he's approaching his his final moment moments and he's lying there some people come to him and they say they say to him abdah they
say that who who do we go to who will be here to kind of serve this this science this ilm after you who and W what a response Allah I think we should take a break build the suspense he says ad he
says then he says that Legends will be born for it that this is nothing and then you see the likes of IM bukari were not even around at that time emerging IM Muslim Abu da you see all these amazing these Giants of this um rising from nothing this Dean has this amazing almost intrinsic mechanism
about that Allah will send in every generation or however you want to understand it people somebody that will revive or bring back life to this Dean as a means of course the dean in itself will alwayss be about you know that the people want to put out Allah will never allow the dean to be put out but he allows us to be tools and instruments and that is really by the the grace and blessings of
Allah as the the poet he says that that these are things or names or whatever we're mentioning that don't actually increase all in in our case we're talking about Allah but who we're talking about in any they don't actually increase that that person in any type of notoriety or being known that we only mention them in a way that we kind of gain pleasure out so this this in a way is the times that we're in
they they are all striking but they are also exciting times and I know we can't see the excitement but it is there that for us to take an interest in this thing I mean who would have thought that people would gather here people a few generation I mean I say a few gener sorry few decades ago a few decades ago there were Muslims here I mean most of us let's say British BN born or whatever I mean our parents or whoever came here they obviously had an understanding who would have thought that there would be after a few decades there would be people here talking about abdah or IM Malik or these type of
people who who would have thought that we can't envisage what's yet to come you know sometimes you read these these books of let's say I was reading not so long ago I was going through this uh um this text on on the science of it's to do with Hadith and the narrators and boy and it was actually a something almost like a um a critique you could say of earlier Scholars on and I was thinking who what the how did this they saying oh and this person said this Hadith is actually he got it
wrong because it come from this angle as well and this is this person said this narrator only was the only one that transmitted this actually it's transmitted also in by here but it's transmitted byadi there this person was you know declared unknown but that's just his K actually he and this was a this was this book is was byed alari who's only who was around 50 years
ago I was thinking how did this person how on Earth can you know that type of stuff the way the way I mean with the with the type of oh no actually you know one thing thing Jalal didn't realize is it's in that book as well oh yes no we said this and but however what he didn't realize is it was transmitted in the of over there under this name and that's actually the same thinking what the how how does somebody do that we're thinking that Allah maybe in a few generations to come people sitting here will be talking like that see it's impossible seems
impossible possible to us it is nothing for Allah this is Islam for us in our life in this Century in this place the Baton that has been placed in our hands but we have to take this seriously but in its true reality you see one of the problems that we seem to understand is that we think and I say we I mean this is a common notion out there that Islam is something like okay now that now I've become religious now it means I've just got turned into somebody
so boring and so uh I'm so grumpy I'm so like oh I'm so burdened by death it's like I'm the only one that's going to die oh God damn it you know like I'm so you so what you laughing about do you know you're going to die God this is what seriously seems to be the image of Islam to most people it seems to be just like like a a boring version of like just being Gothic except a boring version of it that's what oh and now we just go to the
Masid that's all we do come home that's all we do you know why don't we just read and everything I'm so sinful this is another this is another element I'm so sinful I'm so sinful I'm so s okay we get the point so sinful I think you need to understand that that is not what Allah has sent you on this Earth for just to remember how sinful you are that is part of your human nature that is just being human all to human there's nothing wrong with I mean I'm not trying to justify the things but what I'm trying to say is I
believe I sincerely believe this that we are in an age where we need to just focus on the positives don't worry about the the the wrongdoings and stuff like we are in an age where we need to just focus on the good things on you know okay somebody's doing all this wrong all this wrong whatever well okay what are you doing good as well let's bump that up so okay are you are you learning are you doing this are you doing that are you giving in charity are you let's let's focus on the good things the bad things don't worry about it everybody they can take that that's
not a fwa by the way somebody said I don't worry too much about Temptation because we what is it no I don't worry too much about avoiding Temptation because with age it'll just avoid me the thing is look you can take this approach of and people have in a particular time and age they have taken this approach of we're going to be so you know it's all about being very um almost aesthetic non-world and being very sin focused and although I do find that quite almost you know almost
Catholic in a way but I I think in our day and age based on the guidance of the Hadith the prophet sallallah alaihi wasallam said to his companions that you are in an age that if you leave one tenth of This Dean you will be destroyed he said but a time will come with a
people that if those people just cling onto a tenth of this de they will be successful I seriously believe we are in the in that age I believe that it's F it's about focusing on The Good The Prophet said welcome people don't scare them away make things easy easy for people don't make it difficult it's not about going trigger happy on Haram there's nothing it doesn't Haram you know and the thing is that people think this is the irony pick up any book that actually
dates back to the salaf I I know there's very few but things that have quotations actual quotations from like let's say you have a book from Imam Malik which is printed in five almost volumes can vary know is the m full of his fwa his students are asking him what do you think about this what do you think about this what do you think about this answering answering answering you show me on how many occasions he uses the word haram he'll say I don't think you should do that it's better not to do
this you know he'll kind of like he he'll rebuke it but he will I dislike that I discourage that oh the people who went before me didn't like this it doesn't go Haram Haram Haram Haram Haram seldom they do use the word haram but it's seldom used where things are so clearly Haram they will say and I mean by clear as in scholarly clear not like you know just clear to some person who sees things in an ultra 2D black and white sense he thinks everything's Haram or everything not not like that clear that person is on enlightened
level of clarity but on the in the real sense it's not that clear that these things are sometime they are so complex you know Imam al- mazeri he says he used to I mean obviously classic almost about a thousand years ago very famous IM AB abdah Mai has a commentary on sah Muslim known as he writes that sometimes he would struggle to condemn something because he could always think of he always knew a fwa of one of the or some of the F that said it was permissible and I I mean I I say this with a bit of dare daring in
there but I seriously can promise you there will be opinions that I could which I won't share with you but I could share you'd be shocked that what I've said things that's prise that's You' be surprised how far and vast this tradition of Islam has been with people people have different takes it's not I'm not saying they were always right in what they said but there was debate on things so go and the irony is today people will judge you for not saying things are Haram they will say you know that person he is too lenient he's a liberal the sellout is a this is a that why just because you don't find it clear
enough to declare something to be Haram because you don't find the evidence is that clear I'm just saying the focus has shifted from by default things are actually permissible the dean is one that welcomes yes make things easy you know give CL it's shifted to things are almost Haram by default that's why it seems to be somebody it's Haram before you even before you even ask a question Haram I Haram it this is what the attitude has become people they and if you don't concur with them it's that
person are deviant or this that just read the read the fwa of the Sal they did not used to go trigger happy on Haram they used to be very very reserved when it came to Haram they used to say that you know if I say something is Haram you know what if an Allah has said it it wasn't where does that leave me where does that leave me so so this is some of the things some of the questions that do concern us and we will only truly get a better understanding when we
ourselves get involved us guys everybody here people start learning on their own level everybody on some level should be doing Arabic everybody should on some level be learning Arab it's not a difficult language you could seriously learn it easily within half a year 6 months easily within a year you know it reasonably well and that's by giving it what 20 25 minutes a day now that a certain amount of acquainting yourself with how to worship how to do what the term for it is just having and but more than all of doing
these things is necessary and I think everybody should be doing that some level but greater than that actually getting to know some of these people so when we read about Scholars get to know them the other side of them when we read about sah get to know the other side of them they were this is why I'm saying you will be surprised they weren't these boring people they weren't these type of in their day and age they were seen as like w like people wanted to be like them they were involved in other things in life they weren't just like oh you know they were out there as well they say about I'll give an example I don't know
those of you who know they say about IM alkari that in his day and age he was actually had a fascination with uh with archery but he had it that to the extent he was a sharpshooter like somebody that was so precise that he that you you know he he would look for challenges that something that could and somebody once said to him from so far like they gave him this distance I bet you you couldn't get this particular post that was so far it was on this uh it was like a particular Bridge it was like a private Bridge which belonged to somebody and he was so like oh God Can't
Get Right watch this and he actually took his shot and he got it but he damaged the thing he was like damn I got to go pay for it he he actually mentions in the thing he found the person and had to reimburse him but it but the point was these were Fascinating People that you'll be surprised they were all into poetry they were all into the into the normal things that people were fascinated by so my these if I could just share a word I would say that look Islam is about every day and age and it is about living in that day and age it isn't about
becoming some type of a Hermit it isn't about becoming some type of a nerd it isn't about becoming some it's about being part and parcel of everything I mean the just as we learn that from the sahaba we learn it coming down sometimes people you will see so so for example I've seen people they will say these people these young ons they know more about all these actors than they do about the sahaba it's true people say oh I read somewhere these people know more about Shan and some all these people than they do about some of the sahaba I read that on Facebook the day somebody having to go at some people is probably true they probably do know more about Bollywood
than they that that's true but but that's because these things have an appealing nature to them but the the way to counter that isn't you know more about than you do about this that isn't the way to counter it the way to C it is make this appealing this is just as this is probably more appealing but it's just that nobody's made it appealing you know people present it in this dull boring way nobody wants to see it nobody would be learning about these actors or these celebrities if it was just dull and boring they only learn it because it's so fascinating it's so amazed people are
wow I want to watch this I want to do this the dean is just the Sciences the Legacy that we have is just as fascinating but it needs people to convey it isn't about saying oh you know what the hell you better stop doing how about you just okay fair enough you're doing all of that that's one thing let's not focus on the negatives don't worry about I haven't got shares in any of the Bollywood things and stuff wondering but don't worry about let's focus on the positives so let's build up a bit of uh you know some resources on this what do you know about this did you know there was this amazing story did you know this Blood Out let me tell you a story there
something people like what the hell seriously and when they start to learn about these people humor is something I'm telling you it goes so far those I mean provided somebody has not just if they forcing it but if they've got you'll be surprised to learn how much the classical loved humor they used to say about Sufi that he would laugh so much that he would stamp his feet on the ground fall on the floor stamping this is a a much ml who who I say ran ran his own mhab if you like he was a Don on
that level that he had his own M this is his type of you know his type of approach his type of attitude I mean and these people they used to at that time all these these heavy I want to say heavy weights of they obviously a lot of them they all knew each other they met each other and it's amazing since I mentioned sofana thodi I do actually want to I want to hear some questions from you but I'll give you a little incident about sofana thodi here's an incident sanori was from kufa he's from around the same type of time as he was a contemporary to Imam Abu hanifah they had their differences
so sometimes they didn't always see I to ey but there was a huge amount of respect and everything but sui once there's a a particular Gathering that he's called to with IM Abu hanifah and some other heavy weights of the area of kufa and there was some heavy weight there was people like I don't know if you've heard of the names of ABA and there's there's a few of these you know kufa had its its type obviously IM Abu hanifah was unquestionably one of the heavyweights the there's this incident there's there's a a wedding here talk about since you want to make a bit Bollywood here's an interesting one there's a
wedding where two guys are getting married and not to each other relax they weren't that Advantage people like huh that liberal I I like sopana though it wasn't that liberal but the thing is they're getting they're getting married two women now what happens is they read the the nikah and everything and and you know how it was sometimes the culture it's all you know the women on this side men over wherever they are and they're doing this thing
and and now they what they used to do there was they would take the bride to the groom's house and that's it you know they would kind of take him that same day the procession it wasn't as big as as suppose the weddings nowadays but they would do their little thing and then take them I'll have them ushered there and you know the bride's all covered and everything like this and so fine so they do that they take the brides off and whatever and and that's it they have the you know they're with their husbands now what happens is they do this the next morning everybody gets up and everybody's all good and they come and they realize damn they actually accidentally did a wife swap they sent the wrong wife into the wrong
house it's a true incident this is the kabushi kab [Laughter] it wasi and now like what the hell it's like so they're thinking damn so I realized wait a minute so that's not my name so why are you calling me that uh [Laughter] oh so so they like what should we do because obviously the marriage has been consummated everything you know so they think damn what should we do what should we do so they call an emergency type they go to the local M ask him
scholar he's like I don't know what the hell to do what you do say this this is a crisis situation we got to turn up the what is it the security level here this is like we need some heavy weights so they call so they call for a meeting they go call the top Dons that we've got here in kufa call them down so so they invite a few of them amongst them they invite sufan thori they invite uh a few of these and amongst them obviously IM Abu hanifah so these people com at emergency cabinet meeting they're here they arrive it's like this is the story man the the Grooms are baffled the wives
are baffled they don't know what to do so eventually they all start brainstorming start thinking here you do in this incident you see the Brilliance of IM Abu hanifah so so all those who think I hate on Hani speak this is this will stand Testament so sophiana auor is there as well and sopori says okay I transmit from like there's not identical but there's a similar there's a type of incident in in uh judicial precedent really from dating back to the sahaba something not identical but something happen and this is the ruling what we're
going to give the ruling is that okay that's fine it's happened you know it's by [Laughter] accident one of those it happens one off now so what we're going to do is the women will go sit in because they've obviously just in case you never know they could be pregnant whatever they're going to sit an uh after the is over they will return to the to their actual husbands and so that is a must like they can't return like this because obviously an is necessary so people are like okay that
it is then so think that's fine you know one of them has a narration so at that point Allah IM abif looks up he pushes up his imama goes just hang on a minute there he says wait there he says bring me the Grooms so they bring the Grooms to him say how' you guys pull this off man no he doesn't to say that I didn't say that just claim don't
want like a hanf hit on my head he said he goes he asks them he says tell me he says that the wife that was sent to you accidentally of course everything okay yeah okay says but how how did you find her the one that you did end up with she okay was she good everything fine says yeah says all right says okay ask the the guy what do you he says I want somebody to go ask the women that we know that you were you know Miss sent but what where you were how was that right how would you I don't know
how to say this how would you I don't want to say anything was going to say how would you forget it how would you rate the the whole the how is the thing anyway how was was the person okay as a person would you so anyway they say yeah but obviously it was wrong I mean it was sent wrong but yeah it was fine it was good he says to the Grooms how would you be happy to keep her as a wife so that groom says groom a says yeah okay the other one punches
him the other one says yeah fine so he says okay so what you will do each one of you will give T to your actual wife you will do a nikah today with this with the new one the one that was sent to you you can move in straight away because is technically from
you so this way he says if you do go with what sufana thori said then the issue is that although you will return to your original wives but some of you may forever kind of feel a little Grudge what the hell you know that guy was with my wife and I was like what the hell and even though it's an accidental thing but I suppose imagine you bump into each other that awkward silence so so the thing is now so he says so in order to avoid that since you're happy with the person so why not just get married to this person they say fine
so they gives and they move in and look at the Brilliance the thinking on the spot so you can see why sanori was probably like it's overruled my ruling again but so it it works out amazingly well actually and but that that IAD was quite Innovative almost in a good way from Imam Abu hanifah it's very creative but this is the type of Brilliance that we have in our Legacy I mean it's it's amazing to read about these people they they're not by there's never you know when you find them in the books and you find them alive and you find them full of life never a dull
moment or never a dull thing about them so I mean may Allah subhana tala connect us with this Legacy of ours and kind of allow us to not only learn it but to convey it to those who come after us a mean I would I don't know about time restraints I I did actually want to have maybe see some questions you guys had or something like this but I don't know how are we pushed for I mean if we do have cuz actually to be honest with you one is you know when you go to a place and you just talk to people okay it's can be fun and everything but you don't know what the people actually have got on their mind somebody could be oh
I'm so I want to know about this thing but okay fine he's talking about this so I would rather get to know a bit about what people actually want to know about so I mean questions that people have it how does the be reconcile so when we when we study you know we study various principles like and and and types of things principles so when you give a fatwa so obviously you're a Muti and you're living here you have to take into the condition of our time
enir um but there's things that could lead people astray we won't use the word haram okay that could be detrimental let's just say to our Dean so how do you reconcile that the good and the bad you know given our states and you know I mean it's it's a very broad it's a I mean I put it into context okay yeah um and it's difficult so is there a specific example or um that would probably be more helpful um there's many many many many but don't mention it let's just say Bollywood films Bollywood yeah cuz as you brought that
up okay that's probably not fair I I would do you know what see my focus and my attitude is actually the same look we are part and parcel of the society we live in this world you know people some I know damn I'm going to get done for this any [Laughter] time the thing is no it's fine I mean the thing is look I given the the the bigger picture I don't necessarily see these things as up there on the priority list uh things like movies or TV series or just and I know there's types of
movies and there's some which you know people would say that's obviously unacceptable and then there's the general which are just movies movies like somebody's you know I don't know they're watching Rambo they're watching whatever you know just the there's so many movies out there people are watching this regular movies because it's entertainment but people also do I know they do learn from movies as well but more than anything it's fun it's entertaining and people like that they they keep up like you mentioned this the people keep up with culture whether it's Sports they know what I totally don't know anything about sports actually but I mean people they would know about footballers everything their lives uh they would know about celebrities the
same type of thing this is a very human thing without trying to justify I'm not trying to justify I'm just saying I'm just describing it is it is actually very real this happened just as much in the time of the Sala as it does now but in different ways now like now we have TV we have these they didn't have that then their celebrities were different people so their celebrities quite often were poets um their celebrity like if we go back to the time of the sahaba the celebrities were poets the celebrities were uh mainly maybe Warriors and people like that but more often were like poets and the stories that the poets would tell in their poetry were like movies
and the sahab used to discuss them just as much as people today discuss in fact there's a Hadith inkari that they would sit in the Masjid in the prophet's Masjid and they would speak about the poets The Poetry of jilah and the Poetry of jilah for those of you who are unaware of it is is just as crazy as any of these films that you can imagine it is and it is very explicit it is very sexualized it is very violent it is very I mean those this is the average poetry
like IM was rated the dawn of the poets he one of the they used to call him the you know the the the the what is it the Deviant King if you like like the king of those who have gone astray almost and his PO is non-stop all about womanizing and all and not just about womanizing goes the full I mean it's the whole thing so it's and he was one of the most talked about poets amongst the sahaba he was like very they used to repeat his poetry they used to go on you know in front of in front of the Prophet
Sall alaihi wasallam amongst themselves it was it was a normal part and parcel of their society obviously IM had died by the time uh you know Islam and the prophet but he's let's say but he'd only just like probably two generations back at most he wasn't or one he had just kind of missed the thing it wasn't that he was so far back from like thousands of years or anything he's an example there were many of the uh other poets as well and so this thing is everywhere it's it's in a way I'm not justifying it but it's going to happen it's normal people want a bit of fun they want to kind of get involved about certain things they want to but at
the same time what we can do is focus on the positive okay okay fine you're doing all of that you know you're watching these you're watching these movies you know watching Breaking Bad anybody hasn't watched Breaking Bad you're watching all these type of things and these are and they are awesome obviously everybody knows those things are awesome but in addition to that you what are you doing that's good like what are you learning about Islamic as well now how about you focus on the good and try and push that up as opposed to just because when you tell people to stop doing things you're not giving them Alternatives and you're not being real
as well in the real world you know like let's say young people they go to school they go to college they whatever it is everybody's it's it's not like you're asking them to just become a Hermit and they don't want to do that and they see that as boring and the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam said and you seen a Hadith that don't speak to people in a way that will take them away from the thing that be a you know appropriately address them that do you wish that for what you're saying that Allah and his messenger are denied that somebody you know you you tell somebody God damn it stop watching these you know these TV Ser had enough
of these or stop watching these movies I've had enough of you watch all Bollywood as you mentioned and the person says no but I like you say God you get so person says you know take you and you get you know take your Islam shove it whatever you know I I don't want it I mean what have you just done person would have never never said something like that you you've literally kind of pushed that person to saying that you've pushed them right out of Islam in in your you know like weird Twisted wisdom of thinking you're enjoying the good and forbidding the evil so it's it's about that guidance be warm just call people in
don't worry about the you know don'ts don'ts don'ts worry more about the what are we doing that would be my and I think these type of things are what they call ubiquitous you mentioned Bal you know this what the scholars use this term that it's everywhere and they are movies TVs everywhere so it is a focus on let's try and make sure the roots of Islam are there that's why I would say these are are written can you please stop speaking nonsense
about how do you convince someone to abstain from drinking in a positive way just go have a drink with them say you can drink but you got to pay for mine it's not what is the standing of a person who who who offers prayers yeah prayers does oh does oh oh okay does umah and Hajj but engages in obsene drinking drinking oh it's just about drinking [Laughter]
so the thing is that see drink I mean you see they it is obviously from an Islamic Viewpoint it's unacceptable but it's not about oh I said it but it's not about you see people Haven they found themselves in search situations where if they drink it it is sometimes difficult for people to leave it and that's the same with any type of addiction this is why you know may Allah preserve everybody from falling into any type of addiction because the nature of addictions and these things is is
difficult to kind of complete people relapse you've heard of the the poet he says you know that's the thing that that we we've left this drinking but still now and then you go to you got to have a little he says to keep the edge off but the thing is that you see it comes back to how do you focus and let me tell you you know you ask about drinking let me tell you an example they say Imam Abu hanif's neighbor used to be a drunker or somebody that would often
drink often and he was a young guy talented one of those you know when you know one of those people that just feels they just kind of just gutted with the world ah this world is so everybody you know it's just full of you like a bit of like if since you knowb a bit of gb's mentality the poet you know just all the world is all you know these people so he had a bit of that and this guy used to always be there singing himself used to sing and drink and abif used to go in and obviously they just a a little nod no never us to share any drinks or anything he never used to so much he never used to actually like Imam Abu hanifah so much not in the sense of a personal thing but because he saw him as
a man of religion and and he kind of felt everybody's just full of bigotry and everybody so the Hypocrites and this this and he used to sing this thing that they wasted me that they let somebody like me go to waste you know hash confidence you know somebody like me go to waste he goes they wasted me like they wanted to just send me to a battle or something you know you go fill this Gap and get killed basically like basically they're just trying to use me like me I'm I'm it's me and he's saying they
wasted me that's how bad this D is like I don't want anything to do with just leave me to my drink you know one of those now one day abif comes home and it's been a day or two when he realizes you know I haven't seen him drinking can't be as they call it dry day so why is he not drinking where is he it's been about 2 three days he thinks I haven't seen him he's always sitting out here drinking not drinking but look at the wisdom up until now has Im abif gone up to him pulled the bottle out of his
hand whoever saw an evil must change it with his hand all right here comes the hand wait for it did he do any of this no I just silent just respectful obviously he didn't like him but fine one IM abif gets curious where is he he he asks anyway he asks the next day you know I haven't seen this guy around where's that young guy the the drunk where is he said oh don't you know he got arrested I've locked him up in a Cell seriously says what so IM hanif turns up to bail him
out Allah look at look IM Abu hanifah turns up and the person's like you know because at that time the the type of police system that we have was kind the way you have magistrates today the magistrates the local magistrate would usually be Scholars they were the kadis usually I mean they were always at that time definitely they always were so all the kadis come on you would know the heavy weights and these are small time kadis they're not like major major you know IM Abu hanifa has been asked to be the Supreme judge of the entire Muslim world and he's turned it down so he's on a heavyweight level so all of a sudden there's this low time you know IM
Abu hanifah turns up to his place he's like what the hell IM abif yeah it's like it's like uh you know we're mentioning that you get one of these celebrities just turns up just to you you say go call somebody goes called Shan you think what the hell you know it's like can you imagine the shock you would have that the person think IM abif how can I help you he says listen I've I need some of your help says says I need you to let somebody go says who says that person him the hell thought you going to ask
for something significant this guy this drunker what the hell yeah take him is that it says yeah so the person that person is shocked that Abu hanifah has come for me so when he comes out he looks at IM Abu hanifah and IM Abu hanifah says to him he says that did we let you go to waste they say that he was so struck with this this type of this this this gesture of IM abif that he changed
and turned his life around good character people it takes people it it takes messages so far that you can't imagine beyond your imagination so I mean these things about drinking I would say look it's not good but you know we're in an age where things ain't good I'm not tolerate I'm not trying to say it's fine to go drinking to go doing these type of things what I'm trying to say is there has to be wisdom there has to be more than wisdom encouragement to good don't focus on the bad give people an alternative see you know people are so
quick to say stop doing this but then the person will say okay so what should I do you if I don't drink what should I do it's true you haven't given them an alternative you're just telling them stop doing what you're doing can't what should I do in its place well just stop it pray nothing like like to think like I'm feeling okay PR enough but this is the type of mentality people have that oh just stop doing it pray enough you like I don't want to do that what the hell who wants to do that
you know this is so people ain't being real being real is like just addressing it that look okay this is unfortunate the person's probably got problems probably got issues they're running away from just like every one of us is you know to them drink is the savior maybe you can share problems with them you know you can not your problems you just give them your problems I was told to share my problems but maybe we can help them out so sometimes it's surprising you see we're quick to do this you know what's that um Akbar where he says
um uh he he has a very interesting because he's been criticized on this and and he says but here's this thing where he says is oh Dam but he ends it by saying that they say that you know he begins by saying that everybody has a problem that why does he kind of
drink but they don't seem to ask that do do you have anything to eat or do you like what are your problems like what's leading you to this nobody like imagine somebody's debt ridden let's just say or they struggling financially or they they're going through some turmoil they and they're drinking people are stop drinking stop drinking stop drinking nobody's thinking you know but the guy's got problems how about I help out with some problems because that's obviously a burden on you but just telling them off it makes you self-righteous makes you feel good about yourself oh at least I don't drink okay you don't drink but you you know you never know maybe the person in some ways does much
more I've actually personally encountered sometimes people who have who are immersed in what people would say sins and all these in that type of life to be much more generous at heart that you know when it comes to when you if you ever are in need or if you see people in need you see those people open their hearts and give and I've seen sometimes unfortunately it's the people of the of of the religion that people who are practicing that sometimes so stuff reserves them right they in this trouble they don't pray they don't do this they don't you know justifications with the thing but yeah it's a good question though it's a good
question
