What this part covers
machinesummary, machine-writtenMufti Abu Layth marks Mir Taqi Mir's death anniversary by translating his Urdu verses and calls him one of the few poets he would give the crown to.
In more detail
Mufti Abu Layth marks the death anniversary of the Urdu poet Mir Taqi Mir, first playing a recording of poetry by the late actor Irrfan Khan, whom he calls a legend. Mufti says people in the past were not alarmed that Mir was called the 'god of poetry', since they did not mean worship, and that Mir brought a sensual touch and many idioms into Urdu. He translates lines on medication failing to cure the heart, on the 'label' of free will when 'that which you will is done', on a hoped-for friend who proved a tyrant, and on coming into the world destitute and leaving only an echo. Mufti says Mir lived through the ransacking of Delhi and the fall of the Mughals yet was no pessimist, and ends with the closing couplet in which the poet answers what he left behind: the art of poetry he perfected. He says Mir is one of the few poets to whom he would unquestionably give the crown.

rising in the ranks of this championship and he's brought in as a tag team scenario none other people than dawa mahan dawa man so we're going to be taking a look at that kind of tag team wrestlemania scenario going down but yeah before anything let's get back to yeah we'll speak about big d biggity and the crew later on but right now let's look at some of these things oh
the shayari people the it's an anniversary not that kind of an anniversary it's a it's a death anniversary it's a death anniversary of mir mirza so i'd like to say out one two poems of his but before we get to that let me just bring up some poetry of speaking of people who've passed away the legend erfan khan bringing up his uh uh bringing up some poetry he said whilst i play this you can just click
like click share spread the love people the low the low spread the low and the [Music] that's not the one [Laughter] like what this one these are not nice my friends let me see what this one is
[Music] foreign oh wait that is me here is people going out
he was a legend also so people that's i thought let's spark it off with a bit of uh a bit of poetry whilst people are tuning in clicking like clicking share oh let me put this book over here this is something i want to share with you as well something interesting is
afterwards afterwards this boy is this place right so speaking of the legend who is known as the god of poetry now or the god of expression now you see it's interesting that people in the past weren't so freaked out about oh my god this is shirk or this is that because they didn't mean it in a way that they worship him but they do use that title for him in urdu which
as people so often remind us is a language invented by muslims [Laughter] so this one is interesante but he was an absolute legend somebody who brought a kind of sensual touch to his poetry introduced many of the um almost idiomatic phrases that went on to become commonplace in the urdu language and some of his epic poems that you might have already come across his actual name by the way was um
you know it's uh but his name was mufti but known as the legend his ultimate you can see the kind of uh
how he what he's saying i'll translate for some of the he says all the planning went to you know it went to the dogs it was it was useless no preparation had prepared me all medication was just null and void it was incapable of medicating me he says avenged he says see eventually did not this condition of the heart
for forever seal my affair right there's an interesting line here actually which touches in on philosophy and theology says he says it's unfair that we have been given this label of free will
now he says that which you will is done we just get done over for free i love the courage and the audacity that the classic poets had we can learn so much from them there's uh there's the very famous poem that many of you may have heard it's been incorporated in songs and stuff like that
that line is actually so if you ever come across it i'm sure you have right he says let's see there's this fascinating one that mahar ki tujsetavakuti is whom i wished
whom i hoped to be a well-wisher like somebody that i thought good of they turned out to be a tyrant he says what we had assumed that your heart was soft as wax it turned out to be as hard as rock
he says you would write something in life but what you actually wrote turned out to be a legacy of passion you know i one of the few poets who i would absolutely unquestionably give the crown to is in my you know personal preference miradaki meets up i i rate him in that sense
you know he is just the don he's like biggie d he's up there so and the famous some of you may have heard the famous uh lines about yaro mujemo africa that's actually his poem it's turned into a famous song actually in people in ghazal and people have sung it
um you know many people sing has sung it as well amongst other people i i believe jack jeet singh unless it was but anyway you can you can find it on youtube um it says he says he
and they a a famous one which i'll just read and then we'll move on i'll read some lines from it that we came destitute and all we left behind was an echo wow this is an existential poem people that
have that be happy that you know we leave this world by leaving you a dua like i could mean you see he was the type of person that despite what he saw in his lifetime he's in the 1700s and then he dies in the early 1800s in his lifetime dilly is is is is ransacked and raided and destroyed and and he sees so many just kind of tragedies and downfall uh of the mughal
kind of the kingdom and yet and he does travel he does bring a kind of a spirit of life to his poetry he's not a pessimist by any measure and he still heavily preponderates towards living life to the you know to its fullest to the max his his poem that
that does anybody intentionally die i mean is there such a person he that so says as you have life you can conquer the world that is an epic uh spirit that he infuses into his [Music]
you see he's saying that when i said i could not live without you i'm finally fulfilling that covenant and he says that it was not in my destiny to be cured but to my capacity i tested the medication [Laughter]
what was that one pursuit over which we sacrificed everything and every other joy in this world he says that how often we desire to pass by your home so eventually we go this way but what he's trying to say is being carried as a as a unfortunately he's passed away [Laughter]
so it's he's saying bathed in blood but he means his kind of his body but he says that you see i continue to prostrate and what he's saying here is i continue to do sujood to allah meaning it's not that i fell short in my worship like what was necessitated i did you that the right of worship
we fulfilled in its own right but then he mentions parasthesi that but we our devotion to you and but here is his beloved is his his love but he's calling her an idol a statue of worship or devotion that to that extent that people considered you to be a deity but i love what he says at the end you see when people will look at he almost answers this question which he's
going to present in the final line he says that this life we spent in structuring poetry that that this art we perfected it as we left
and then the question which actually is the prequel to that line he just said that what should we say if one was to ask asmir that you came in this world but what did you leave behind and in some ways he's answered that in the line before so is fun that we perfected this art of poetry
