What this part covers
machinesummary, machine-writtenYes: Mufti Abu Layth cites the Prophet's prophecy to Adi ibn Hatim of a lone woman travelling from Iraq to Makkah, which Adi lived to see.
In more detail
Mufti Abu Layth cites a hadith in al-Bukhari in which the Prophet told Adi ibn Hatim that if he lived long he would see a woman travel alone from al-Hira, in Iraq, to Makkah and perform tawaf fearing none but Allah. Adi wondered how she could pass the raiding tribes, yet said that in his old age he saw it happen, so much stability had come to the region. Mufti calls these amazing hadith that people have turned a blind eye to. He says some Saudi scholars, whom he names only in garbled form, have themselves rejected the claim that a woman cannot travel alone, and that another has a fatwa on a woman travelling by aeroplane, adding that this ruling has existed in the schools.
