The answer in brief
machinesummary, machine-writtenThe core difference is that the Athari (Hanbali) creed attributes body parts to God and the Ash'ari creed does not. Mufti Abu Layth would broadly align himself with the Ash'aris, with reservations, and ranks the philosophers above all the theologians.
In more detail
Mufti Abu Layth takes a question from a questioner who, he jokes, is kept awake by the doctrinal differences between the two theological schools. He says the primary difference is that 'Athari' is today a euphemism for the Hanbali school of creed, which is anthropomorphic: in his dumbed-down summary, one school holds that God has body parts and the other that He does not. He characterises the Hanbali Athari position dismissively, comparing it to the bottom set in a school, and ranks the others: the Ash'aris are not, in his view, completely right but make ninety to ninety-five percent sense; a middle group whose name is garbled in the transcript (heard as 'the Saudis') [?] sits between; and the philosophers, who were not constrained by what he calls fake parameters, were in a class of their own above all the theologians. He says that if he had to join a group he would broadly align himself with the Ash'aris while disagreeing with them on certain things. He describes the Athari view as attributing deformed body parts to God, such as two right hands, two fingers and one leg, and says Ibn Taymiyya belonged to this school without inventing it, that the Saudi Salafis are all Atharis, and that their creed could not stand ridicule in the twenty-first century if taught openly, which he thinks is why they are shying away from it. He closes by saying a contemporary shaykh, whose name is garbled in the transcript (possibly Yasir Qadhi) [?], comes from this group of thinking, and that people who stem from it will always struggle with the intellectual.

start let me fold my arms whilst I respond to him right ok let's answer the question for the brother he's suffering the anxiety is getting to him brothers being kept up late at night pondering over the doctrinal differences between these two theological schools this is keeping him up whilst you other losers are being kept up by God knows what kind of forums and websites [Laughter]
alright so me I saw him you see this the difference the the kind of primal difference between these two is the earth theory which is today a euphemism a theory is a euphemism for the humbly school of up either which is basically an anthropomorphic the School of Theology doctrine which in essence if I'm to sum that up for you again Let Me In in snob speak let me dumb this down for you guys
[Laughter] imagine as a professor with the serious face this is how you say you say all right guys let me dumb this down for you I would love to try that a lecture I just go mmm all right so yes so the doctrinal differences between these two theological schools let me dumb this down for you guys this our guard body parts this are no body
parts so the humbly school believes God has they believe God has body parts okay so I'm gonna be honest with you it's totally stupid it's it's for the what I call the Sun sunshine group it's for the bottom set basically you know in school you have differentiation and you have the bottom sets the Thetas coloring
and draw pictures all day the sticker humbly school in a theta is basically that sunshine group and then you've got the Ishod ease I don't think the Asha if I'm gonna be fair there Shari's I don't think they're 100% spot on but they're definitely much better than that group the humble school the the humbly sorry
the Saudis are probably like in the middle I would say like maybe like set three set to possibly some of them but the gifted and talented the top in my perspective were the philosophers they were in a class of their own so none of the theologians I think could match the philosophers because the theologians were always constrained by they had too many fake parameters that they were trying to match so the Ishod is generally speaking will be odd or more
definitely make sense I would say probably 95% sense or 90% sense they're definitely if I was to be if I was to join one of the groups are definitely joined the a Shiley group in that sense broadly speaking I would align myself with a shoddy even though I would disagree on certain things that they say but my point is I would broadly speaking align myself with that group as opposed to the other sunshine group that believe in God having body parts because when they believe in God having body parts they don't even say he has body parts
like like a normal human I'll start from Earth orbit Oba they gave him deformed body parts I'm not making this up they they believe in stupid things like like he has two right hands and he has only two fingers I think and he has like only one leg and that too half alike today honestly that is not good they've got some picture of some kind of a gremlin this is not God they haven't found God yet but on the
bright side they're excused because it's that group it's that group that group he just kind of got like this oh nice okay that's the last that's the Bell home time off you go evening taymiyah was part of this I mean able to taymiyah it wasn't he didn't invent it but he was part of these but so we'll all so are all these Saudi selfies they're all parties they believe in dumb stuff
honestly they they you know in the 21st century the Salafi Ark either cannot stand its it would be ridiculed stupidly if you know if they try to teach their beliefs openly now like they do but I think they're starting to shy away now because they're starting to realize that hearing themselves aloud mmm damn is that is that my voice that does sound stupid stupid and so yeah anyway and this is part of the problem with even share here so Kathy
he is from this kind of group of thinking so you have to remember that people that stem from this group of thinking they would they would always kind of struggle with the intellectual
