The answer in brief
machinesummary, machine-writtenMufti Abu Layth says DMT is not haram and calls it an entheogen, though it is not for everyone; legality and health are separate questions. He holds the same for psilocybin.
In more detail
Asked for his thoughts on DMT, Mufti Abu Layth says he does not think DMT is haram and personally thinks it is awesome, possibly a gateway into the realm of consciousness, which is how he understands the spiritual, since he sees the ruh as consciousness. He finds it disappointing that many countries make it illegal, citing lectures by experts who showed no recorded deaths from it and noting that the body has natural receptors for DMT. Mufti says the British government should review its drug policy, comparing DMT with alcohol, which causes many deaths, and calls DMT an entheogen meant to connect people with God rather than a recreational drug. He says it is not for everybody and he does not advocate that everyone take it, as it can be overwhelming, and he holds the same for psilocybin in mushrooms: such psychoactive substances are not haram, though they may be matters of legality and health.

right what are your thoughts on DMT Sajid Khan a man who has his priorities in place I think DMT is not Haram and I think it's awesome I would personally think it is awesome I do agree that I think it's a kind of it's maybe a gateway to I don't see because I use the word spiritual in a different sense to what people use it like so to me spiritual is more about consciousness because I see the raw has consciousness so to me
things like DMT may be the hidden cheats in this world a gateway into the realm of consciousness I'm very intrigued by these things I don't think they're Haram and I find it utterly utterly disappointing that certain countries that many countries they deem them deem it to be illegal I find that ridiculous you know I've been to certain lectures by professors and experts in DMT who've shown the statistics there's never been a single death by things like DMT and the body has natural receptors for DMT
so it you know I must that isn't that doesn't isn't that intriguing that why have we got so many natural receptors for DMT where are we getting our DMT from so that's so intriguing I find it that yeah so I I i think that the british government needs to review its drug policy you know how can things like alcohol which cause deaths ridiculous amount of deaths on an annual basis you've got reports like that deemed so toxic the toxic you know toxicology reports and things like this and then
you've got something like DMT which really is a entheogen it's not a recreational drug it's an entheogen it's something that is to connect people with God but once again I don't feel it's for everybody so don't I don't advocate that everybody should take it but I feel that you know I don't definitely don't feel it's Haram but I do understand that it could be overwhelming for people to make that connection with the realm of consciousness like that mushrooms exactly the same thing I don't feel the psilocybin is the psychoactive
ingredient in mushrooms psilocybin is not hard on none of these these drugs receive psychoactive drugs like that I'm not a matter of Haram they may be a matter of legality and they may be a matter of you know sensibility health sensibilities and how people take them but they're I don't believe them to be Haram
