together foreign
just I could see some graininess on the camera so hopefully I've amended that foreign considering that I'm
In Perpetual attempts to amend my timings but whilst you guys are tuning in clicking like and share and yeah you know that coffee the creamy coffee so who do we have tuned in foreign
theologists theologisticity are King James Mufti I love you I love you too I love you too right so let's take a look at what we've uh going to take what we've got right take a moment because that's what I want us to do during our lives all of us take a moment and I want to take a look at the theme of divine courage and disobedience
and maybe if I could title that again in a different way maybe it may be dissidents Disobedience and divine courage so yeah and I want to speak a bit about that what does that mean because there is this understanding um in this there is this um a commonly found or let's say it's not uncommon to find the Miss what is in
essence a misunderstanding that obedience since it is mandated in Islam which sure obedience is mandated in you know in many um in many aspects of life including faith does that Translate as conformity so that's this this is an intricacy here that is very uh worth our while to explore
right in addition to that I don't know if you can see it here right the casualties of nomenclature and what do I mean by that so I want to share some thoughts on on Hadith in a world of in a world of Hadith what does that mean on yeah we can unpack that a little uh allow it to unfold and let's pick at it inshallah
right so let's let's begin with some words of inspiration so I came across this by half is that for we have not come here to take prisoners or to confine our wondrous spirits but to experience ever and ever more deeply our divine courage freedom and Light
and it's interesting because this a lot of what I want to explore today is is nested in this this yearning that we have within us to to connect with that spirit you know the that indomitable human spirit that yearns it really cries out for that Divine courage for that freedom and for that light foreign
a poem yeah I'm not sure if this is really her lips although it's addressed in wow this is really profound you know is
[Music] speech to speak to converse that we have conversated who conversated we have had Dialogue on so many occasions yet a thousand times or every time that how often have we had the opportunity or taken the opportunity to say things and yet each time
many things have remained unsaid it's you know this is the thing about Poetry Man this is it this was an interesting one on a similar theme it had three different um poets here with vasis
[Laughter] he said it is true that we really you know they he she they Joe whoever fluid and non-binary all everybody people so so the thing is that we they do remember us but only in moments when they have a moment to do so an opportunity to do a moment it is
but that but truth be told they can never truly find a moment to remember us [Laughter] well foreign this is fascinating he says we concede we accept that truly we we don't find the time he says because when we do remember them
it's as though we forget time itself and this is interesting in the sense that sometimes what how we can see this is when we are in the pursuit or in the presence or in the company of what offers us true meaning and passion there is a timelessness Allah
[Laughter] that we forget we forget the age itself just for it for the sake of being able to see you once and when we emerge from our imagination our thoughts our wandering thoughts
it's as if centuries have passed by see what is time ultimately Allah you know if there's Baraka in time it seems to you can live an eternity in a moment this was right okay
Okay so this was a um a post I saw actually and in light of this it you know it just comes back to these things you know this about take a moment um that mom found a note my dad wrote before Alzheimer's took his ability to communicate at PS I forget a lot of things but I never forget how wonderful you are love Joseph I think or yes
in the end what is it but you know memories and experiences this is why it's always take a moment to reflect to introspect to to look within introspect is to look within and to look without as well and to reflect so
right let me see what oh and this was a this is one we've taken a look at before but it ties into the spirit today of hurt all right okay so let's see who do we have oh we got some Bots let's block the Bots okay done right so love from Amsterdam
um bless you Carlos all right from Portugal doing it doing it um have you played the new God of War no I have not uh speaking of Imran Khan I think this whole thing of
you know we really have to take a moment and appreciate the courage the tenacity and the steadfastness that is unfolding in real time in Pakistan with Imran Khan I mean it's it's just wow mind-boggling
that in Pakistan you have you see very briefly for those who aren't familiar you have the country is generally run by what they call the establishment and by that in Pakistan in different countries that could mean different things but in Pakistan uh The Establishment what is meant by it is um the military so the Army run and the military intelligence they run the country and it's something which is
you know it's it's something which India has always said for for decades that Pakistan is really just a it's an army that has a country that's how India often says it that really it's just in an army that happens to have a state [Laughter] and what um Imran Khan is fighting for is what he calls the hakiki Azadi a true Liberation and true freedom and recently he'd um he was on what what he's called a Long March so it's this this kind of
demonstration and protest for a call to elections and it's meant to go on through various cities and eventually congregate in the capital and this is a huge threat because it's mobilized the entire country of Pakistan and people are just fed up and you've got uh so he was shot I mean people and this is madness and because can you just imagine what would have happened the country it's very likely if Imran Khan was killed in that incident that the
country naturally things going awry the country would have fallen into disarray and there would have been a um they would have very likely been a civil war would have and within the coming weeks there would have been martial law in the country the Army steps in takes over uh probably holds on for the next six months and then announces an election but by that time everything is you know it's these things are so sad because you know people I guess just want to
live in Freedom you know relative freedom and I guess it's just wow you know you um you see but the courage and Allah saves whom he Wills we save so many rules and uh Imran Khan was saved and and there's been a lot of stuff just going on in that politics for people who've been following and and now some other Senators have come out because apparently some senators are being blackmailed argued because Imran Khan for the first time has named Generals in the army or people like this and and
he's never done that and for the first time the public of Pakistan has now you know seen or not seen it's become it's had enough of this military involvement whereas historically this is unprecedented in Pakistan they the the Army had a they had a halo effect they couldn't they were Angels they could never do anything wrong they were just the you know just God sent Heroes and they were
borderline infallible so this is the first time in Pakistani history where people are actually seeing and it's a shame as well because the army of Pakistan has you know it's it has done incredible it has incredible accomplishments especially when it comes to the defense of Pakistan so you can understand why they are heroes to the people but for the first time people are they they found themselves at odds disliking resenting insulting you know chanting against protesting against the
Army it's like whoa okay something has changed you know and you had Senators come out and they said that they're being blackmailed by the army that people I don't know there's something about some Senator that they've blackmail to leak his uh his illicit videos between him and his wife um and you know and and then other people have come and said enough is enough you know when how long will this nonsense go on and and that person apparently that Senator he called a conference a press conference just said it that this is what I'm being
blackmailed about so it's like wow all these things are happening and we are witnessing something and this really ties in as well to today's theme about understanding that Islam has not necessary that they that there are things to unpack between obedience and disobedience that disobedience it's not or obedience to God is Not
conformity to the status quo necessarily so Disobedience at times may be more a psychological problem than a moral one and this is something that we have to yeah it's interesting we've got to explore that so yeah so this has been going on um and Imran Khan was he was shot and uh the BBC newspaper I saw that you know there's the the singer Imran Khan uh bewafa amplifier and all this uh is he
from the Netherlands or is he from Denmark or he's from he's from Europe somewhere I think so they had a picture of him that Pakistan ex-prime Minister Imran Khan and got the rapper ah here journalism at its finest yeah but Netherlands yeah so right so that's um some thoughts right what else is uh
right let's move on what else is going on people before we jump right into it Changing Times we can see um that not that this is really something to uh I know people are divided you know we're in an age where people are so divided do you do you not feel that we are in an age of um of kind of Stark polarization and people are really divided on the whole um Elon Musk thing and Twitter
I mean I am a fan of Elon Musk and you know you know when I you know when me and him were planning this whole human Mission to Mars I'm joking so but I am a fan of him and people are really so divided about his whole um you know his Twitter the way he's handling it and I don't I mean to me I think well why not let the man do you know what he wants to do
he is uh you know he knows what he's doing hopefully but that's uh right some some interesting thoughts right let's take a look at some comments and then let's move on people um somebody said about can you briefly explain
what uh versus hanafi as in um right well here's a Maliki girls that's not entirely true that's not entirely true but the Maliki method is a uh you know it is a jam it is a jam um it's it's something that is and I want to speak a bit about that as well when I come to this topic of
um nomenclature Wars or you know there's like a culture War for nomenclature and some people when they win a culture War what does that mean so we'll speak a bit about that then okay let's um all right okay so just seeing what's
gin Bots salaam everyone if you're having a crap time just remember that it'll be okay in the end Allah it will it will you know um I must always take our time to remember that you know take a moment and remember that you know just take a moment to yourself just that Allah that truly own you know in a binary sense Allah is
un juxtaposed to that nothing else is so in a true binary of of sorts so and that and I guess that includes sad times difficult times uh kilometers but also joyous and Happy Times They Are fleeting too you know and ultimately what what is there I was um I was sending you know I had seen um
you know start kaleem Sharma his his posts um and I had seen that his mother wasn't well or something and I sent him a message and um I whatsapped him and he replied with a message and it was really honestly I was so grateful for it it really hit me and it's interesting he he was just saying this that look he said that you know whatever we go through in essence and it's it's a reminder to everyone that whatever we go through
our joyous moments the sad difficult tragic events if you every single person is facing their own and if you see it that the the messenger of Allah faced some of the most tragic moments somebody could face he buried his own children
you know that and amongst them those who were victims and casualties of this war against Islam a person you know just to if a person can just try to grasp that these moments of tragedy of loss of losing everyone and then you see
there wasn't an anger on the world you know there wasn't a Vengeance for the against the world there wasn't an exploitation when his son died and it coincided with an eclipse and people they said yes you know yeah Allah see people start to say between themselves that even the Sun is engulfed in sorrow that the child of the messenger of Allah has passed away
and what did the prophet salallahu say he said no he said don't say that he said that's not true he said these are symbols these are signs these are entities that reflect the glory of God they do not become eclipsed by the death or the life of anyone
you see that was such a moment where the Prophet could you know people say oh the prophet they hurl allegations and accusations of the Prophet that was such a an opportune moment to exploit the faith of people you know you see there's incidents like um what's said about Christopher Columbus that when he had arrived um you know in uh in South America and he was trying to uh negotiate and he was trying he realized that he wanted
um he wanted some resources from the people I believe gold and other things but they weren't prepared to give it to him and he knew that you see by astronomy and by the the the [Music] General uh calculations of his time and they were quite uh familiar with astronomy what we call an arabicat with uh navigation and uh the lunar kind of cycles and and things like this so he
was familiar that there was to be a um I believe a lunar eclipse um it was a lunar or solar eclipse was due within a week so he said to them that look I give you one week to give me all these things and they basically were like not gonna happen and he said well if you don't my God is going to be upset and what he's going to do is he's going to take away the I believe it was a lunar eclipse he's going to take away the moon for a
day you know that's what my God is going to do and then he's going to come for all of you and in those days obviously they didn't comply and then the eclipse happened and they were like what you know please pray to your God to stop this and and they gave him what he wanted and that's a prime example of the cunning and conniving um evil that people can conduct through knowledge and explore and exploitation of superstition so
you see now you you contrast that kind of behavior and you had a Prime opportune moment with the messenger of Allah for people who hurl allegations and accusations are aim to exploit the people but even in that moment of tragedy in his moment you know which he's entitled to a moment at such loss of you know loss of a child I think his son at that stage was I think two two years old or something but still to correct
to focus on their Deen and to correct them from superstition and you know yes and what the message I was speaking about what he'd sent me [Music] Sharma hit in it there was a point where he said look we go by if you think of time we go by Earth time he said well if you look at it from solar years like not from Earth years or Earth time but sun solar time as in how long the sun has been in
existence and that's really not still very physically relative to us because it's not even going it's a saying in solar time like imagine you're not viewing it from our time but from the sun's perspective from the sun's perspective you and I are just a blip our entire lifetimes is you know it's like the blinking of an eye it really puts things into perspective to just yeah and ultimately what it reminds us is
that nothing remains only Allah was and Allah is that's a you know it's a really profound thought and it really hit me and I thought wow but yeah I thought I'd share that with you guys yeah what's this this fruit you can't even buy uh I don't know what these questions are about um something in my area I don't know what that is pretty strict you can't even buy vegetables I don't know what's going on forzilla Ahmed why are people not
letting you buy vegetables you know another quick note I I'd like to say this is a bit random but since it occurred to me and we spoke of places like Pakistan it really is a shame that countries like Pakistan or other countries that are somewhat still free from certain from the confines of
um over encroaching legislation that some countries that basically they still have certain like they could do certain they could Pioneer experimental stuff and still kind of do it it's a shame that those countries do not take the lead on things like psychedelics and general mental health I'm really you know it's something that is so surprisingly disappointing to see how countries that can do that
because they're not so Bound by the the you know the the kind of culture war of you know Nixon's War on Drugs they're not still this kind of um nixonite or nixonian effect still isn't doesn't kind of wear down on them heavily they should really Pioneer this stuff globally they should become a hub to in worldwide research allowing people from worldwide kind of pioneers in this to
come to their country and to to to to to to to to kind of boost their research on knowledge within this field and to promote mental health uh mental well-being by use of natural plants and psychedelics and it's a shame that the you see that see it comes back to this that the fear of disobeying the the powers that be you know this this kind of especially namely in this case the Western Powers namely the US
the FDA on its other cronies that that are so you know that that us for some reason stuck in this um 70s era of a declaring war on um on these natural elements so it's it's so sometimes I think about that that why do they not you know these countries should become like how the way you have countries like like Dubai be becoming a
um a kind of a free port and a tax Haven that then attracts all that Commerce from around the world to that point you could have these kind of um Pioneer ports which are all pioneer portals that are kind of situated in certain uh countries that attracts the latest Innovative thought that could Pioneer human well-being and it's they have more freedoms but in doing so you would not conform
to a to the in to a worldwide pressure so yeah I I often think about things like that that why do these people you know it's such a shame right now oh oh we are talking about widowed women in it they're not allowed to leave the house in some places right okay yeah this question of Aid that I have answered it previously in much detail
so either there's a difference of opinion on what Eda is supposed to be and what it's supposed to be about so we know it's like a grace period now what is it about so for the for the Widow there's this four month ten days on for the devil C uh three menstrual cycles or sometimes one menstrual cycle depending on the issue but
what is all of this about some people take this to be what what they do they preponderate the ritual element over this so they say this is a ritual so this is like almost like ethicalf of sorts so a woman just as when you're doing it you are restricted to the confines of a parameter often within a Masjid according to most the methods and but it or in some methods in your home and you have certain self
imposition you know self-imposed uh restrictions you can't do this you can't do that you know you should refrain from this and you and it's an it's a it's a time of sheer pure devotion so okay that's a very ritual worship centered uh devotion um focused act yeah now following a divorce or the death of a uh of the spouse of the husband
many people place that in the same category as that and they they paint it with the brush of ritual that this is the output this is something you know it's it may have some wisdoms I mean it will have wisdoms but it may have some Isla some reasons but the reasons are secondary what's primary is this ritual so ritual over reason and therefore primarily this is an act of devotion everything else comes it's secondary and tertiary other people would see this differently they would say no reason over ritual not ritual of
a reason sorry that was ritual over it's a reason of ritual so they would say that no this there was a reason why this was stipulated and that is for and it may vary and it may have some commonalities so for example one common understanding is pregnancy it's okay for the divorcee she may be pregnant so that's one reason that it's good to know and especially in that time when she may then claim um um Provisions she may claim that he needs to he needs to spend money on the child he may say it's not my child because you know when you left here you
left here three months ago I didn't know you how do I not know you this is not somebody else's child so this was one common reason back then um another reason was that really in Islam and this is another topic that people often forget about you see in Islam you're only meant to give one talaq this three talaqs thing according to most according to you know most of ulama is Haram you're not actually allowed to give three talaqs um so really you're only meant to give one and that's what the prophet salallahu alaihi wasallam taught and that's why that's the talaka Sunnah is just to give one talaq and then when the
Eda is over the nikah has dissolved and the couple can you know they are on the you know on their own path but during that there's time to reconcile and there is a time to revoke the talaq so traditionally that was another element that if the woman was still there there was hope that the husband could revoke and reconcile with her because maybe you know as they calm down cool down you know over time because they're still living together and they don't need she doesn't need to be doing hijab from him so and and some have argued that there's
even the sexual Temptation um that you know when all else fails with men [Laughter] you know it's like okay man we forget it all man so some have argued that there was that element to incentivize them to reconciliate to reconcile so okay so there's that another element was it was difficult to um to immediately find provisions and lodgings so for the woman
let's say they broke up today she wouldn't necessarily have somewhere to go right now and that's understandable it's the same today in you know people just because if they instantly broke up over something they wouldn't necessarily have somewhere to go so there's a grace period you know you could take your time and all these things are playing out if there happens to be a pregnancy if they happen today but you can also share the space and you may reconcile and you may so there's all of these things and there is another wisdom as well which I feel that um many people did not um unpark as much and they didn't speak about it
um as much really and um and I actually feel that may be one of them the key reasons as well so it's not just something tertiary or you know uh right at the back but something at the Forefront and that is that you see by placing and this was the real reason why the woman was not allowed to marry alongside pregnancy but let's say you knew pregnancy wasn't an issue like let's say for example you just knew that pregnancy was not an issue for whatever reason um this would still be the primary
reason which still applies today and that is that you see often when people are um when they break up there is something there is like the rebound effect okay so people are in a you know they're on a downer they feel that they've been dumped there's a sense of rejection people often jump to that they quite easily make rash decisions and so somebody May propose and they just jump on it now this placing a grace period a a
Prohibition uh time frame of let's say three months one month to three months at least let's say three months or three menstrual cycles during which the woman would not be doing a knicker so this ate that period She doesn't she can do a nicaba after this three months so she's just come out of a marriage so she doesn't get married till three months now what this prevents this is very kind of preemptive in precluding um a lot of Bad Blood because you see often what and we find
this today what you'll find is the moment a couple break up and let's say the woman now is with another man by next week let's say often what happens is people will say oh so you you know this that that that these two were up to something all along that there is like I knew it you know you were having an affair all along and and even though this is not necessarily
exclusive to the woman but a lot of um atrocities historically and continue till today to unfortunately occur as a consequence of this being heard at the woman so Islam with its wisdom and you see this this this Divine wisdom in saying look when a person comes out of a relationship you know something like two to three months is not a big deal and during that time there can be moments for pregnancy there can be moments for lodging where the person still has to husband still has to pay
and take care but she doesn't have to live there I mean as some people feel that you you know people some people say she has to live there because of the other people say no she can't you know if they don't have lodging she can go and live somewhere else it's not especially in this day and age but there is no new nikah to take place because just of the amount of problems that that can cause that it's saying that look a little bit of patience is a virtue that just wait two to three months and then do a Nika one you'll be in more clarity of thought it won't be
the rebound effect you know it won't be hopefully you know you can be have better judgment you can ascertain you're not pregnant and also it'll stop all this bad blood so people saying well ah the only reason I knew you know she was up to something with that guy and and this so yeah so I feel these are really the alel the the causes um for that that whole later thing so yeah so that's what it is but and obviously with a death you can see it
um these kind of things hit much harder and they can cause huge problems huge problems you know where inheritance is involved and uh especially historically even today the person taking a new husband for example within months of the husband dying and having inherited and having done you can imagine how this has caused so many problems in so many settlements throughout time so this small grace period which isn't that long in saying look let things just settle and then with Clarity move on so I hope
that uh you know helps right um right let's move on right I would let him in a straight honor of James
I wanted to explore the topic of disobedience obedience and Conformity within Islam because it's it's you know it's it's not as clear-cut as people may think so taking a look at a few verses how the villain shaytan regime Bismillah from Ali Imran and this this verse of rasul and Obey Allah and the messenger Allah
in the hope that you may find Mercy now from Ali Imran 132 this verse of saying obey Allah on the messenger it appears more or less in about 11 verses throughout the Quran okay in in slightly varied uh format but this this instruction this kind of mandate to obey Allah to obey the messenger that from this Divine Source you will find strength
of Mercy because we have within us this we have a will to also obey we do have this to kind of to obey that every person obeys to some extent we have this will to obey but it should be directed externally almost transcendentally
to God and then everything else even if you are obeying it no longer holds that same symbolism of utter obedience and this verse this is another example this and this like I mentioned about 11 verses that speak of this in the Quran
obey Allah and obey the messenger this is an interesting verse and those with who are people of the matter amongst you people of the affair now it's interesting because that is very um this verse you see the way he said it didn't say it did not say the people the Kings
foreign ERS or the Kings or the rulers or the um politicians or the but it said the people of the affair whatever the affair may be now this is showing that in life there will be hierarchies there will be structures there will be obedience that is mandated and that's okay
you know you could be working in a company you could be working uh in a shop you could be will you could be at home in a farm in a family structure you could be in a tribal structure you could be in an organ organization that has its structure you could be in a group that is uh hierarchically organized wherever you will have a line of command and you can oh and you obey that there is order there is structure you know there is in the hope that there is progress but then it mentions foreign
but what if you fall into dispute because where there are people there are problems Allah Allah this is where there are people there are problems now Allah says foreign
if you find yourself in dispute Allah then you can return you can have your resolve you can have you start stand firm with Allah and his messenger foreign
good for you and that is the best of interpretations now one way to you know one meaning you can take away from this is that everything else there will be a belief where you have a you you have a um a faith where you have devoted a commitment to God a resolve that is that is unquestionable let's say whether you live up to it or not but in theory you have this
this resolve that okay my obedience is with God and that's the faith and the messenger comes with Allah but everything else in this world will at some point be up for grabs that nothing else is certain see that's it's a wonderful way of looking at these words because it's showing you that it on one hand it's calling you to obey um you know it's saying obey
obey and maintain these structures in society the societal paradigms and structures and lines of command and chains of command that you have obeyed them but if things go awry then nothing is absolute except Allah on his messenger nothing else so yeah if you and this is where you take a moment and you intro spect you look Within
you look without as well You observe that is what I'm doing actually you know is there in this is there goodness in this and sometimes it will mean to comply and sometimes it will mean to defy but that is the path so this should not be confused with a Conformity to society that Islam is not calling us to a blind group think okay it is
right it is not calling us to that right okay what is right okay so Islam is not calling us to that now here's a verse I want to share this as well in line with another two verses and then a Hadith to to expand on that so this was from surataha
um Allah verse 121 to 122. this verse is speaking about Adam
and when he's in Eden when he's there when he's with who he's with and they ate from the tree Allah a disobedience and it's incredibly profound when we think about it when we unpack it So Adam Ali Salam he eats this forbidden fruit
and whatever that was and I have a separate talk where I were I um argue that it may be that it was that the plant refers to one of a psychedelic nature so and that's a different discussion but Adam Ali salaam is being told that here is the tree of immortality he is being seduced
and tempted and he is being told not to take this fruit whatever it may be but Destiny has already been decreed Allah as the Hadith mentions depends have been raised and the pages have cried that what was to be written has already been written so Adam
begins this this act he eats from this fruit it's forbidden fruit and it mentions and that Adam disobeys if the opposite of rushed in Arabic to be rightly guided so to to ER okay to be seduced to fall into temptation
that what does the poet say he says I thought that that I am but just one of them you know if they are astray or if they are giving in to then I'm giving in if they are on the right path then I'm on the right path but the usage of this word that and some some people here's an interesting one some people argued so much has a discussion that some people
argued faroa is to do with uh having it interrupted his digestion and I think that's you know that's an interesting way too um that the the Arabic I believe is bashing but that they said um that there is a verb and that some people I I think it may have been the language of tight but they used rawa to mean to result in this indigestion
although he doesn't necessarily agree with it but he mentioned some people say that but symbolically that's fascinating as well because this tree of knowledge that we ingested we struggled to digest huh that fool but it's interesting because this it's you see this is the amazing thing about the Quran that the way you look at it every time you change your perspective it gives you something new to look at
something refreshing that adds meaning that that's one way to see it but in that same but not to be depressed because in that disobedience began the story of mankind because insan began from there that there was great Destiny hidden in that downfall so to have heard
it's not it's showing a difficult this verse you see the following verse one two two saying thumb afterwards that Allah then chose Adam selected and this taba May mean Adam it could mean both and both give a unique Nuance Allah you know
that Adam turned but he turned then after God chose him so it's the divine grace or he chose him and the Lord turned and because he had already previously repented and either way it's a fascinating Nuance so but what we're seeing here is this Disobedience ironically was the beginning of the human story so disobedience in and of itself and this disobedience is not considered they
say it's not an act of morality with Adam because here at that stage was pre-taklif takleef being the Arabic not the Urdu takleef the Cleveland Urdu means just you know just something painful or problematic but in Arabic to Khalifa's liability so he was pretty cleave pre-liability so there was no morality
because if this and one may say this fruit was the fruit of consciousness that gave rise to Consciousness and therefore with limited Consciousness there is limited liability and it doesn't mean there's no consciousness animals are conscious you know they're not unawake they have feelings they have on in that sense you see that and this very verse speaks about that once they eat something happens to them all of a sudden they became aware of their nakedness
they became embarrassed of it they started to cover themselves with leaves their nakedness see shame is a social construct one does not feel shame on their own they feel it in the presence of others but shame in Psychology you learn it correlates with a greater sense of self-awareness so the higher the self-awareness then so there's there's a parallel so they whatever happens it seems that they all of a sudden become more self-aware
of themselves and they become embarrassed and shameful and start to cover their private parts because keeping in mind homanins previously that have existed like neanderthals and other homonyms you know hide up against this and even a homo sapien but not um post-cognitive revolution precognitive revolution and all the other kind of you know homo habilists and all these that many of them did use like neanderthals definitely you know that they did used to wear kind of clothing I mean not clothing clothing but like they would wear
um the kind of scan and the hide that they would catch from um you know from dead animals that they would hunt but the if we can call it clothing but they're covering that they would use was more about protecting them from warmth and from cold it was not to do with shame so they didn't care about their private parts being shown they were more worried about being cold so this this is interesting the Quran highlighting that this is something where that Revolution begins in
Consciousness but in many ways it begins with a disobedience but then unfolds into this Majestic Journey so it's it's really profound just unparking and this disobedience is not a moral Disobedience because Adam is pretty cleave thereby leaning in on the understanding that Disobedience at times is more a psychological problem rather than a moral one and that's you know it's it's there's an understanding in that
and this verse yeah this is fascinating because this once again brings this whole verse of group think that if you obey the majority of people they will always or often mislead you like you will not be that is foreign from that from the path of God or the path which God has highlighted
for you for Success you will find yourself on a different path is the people these people they follow but just group think always take a moment reflect am I why do I want things why do I do certain things is it just because people want them often there's a great book
by Luke Burgess called wanting um and it's about my mises which is which which basically memes uh right sorry mummies notice right I'm gonna have to write it in here now A little I have to tongue twist yeah it is that yeah yeah my nieces right so it's a bit late all right as you can imagine right and it's about mimetic Behavior
and the whole book Is Anchored on the psychology of um uh of Gerard Renee Girard who is highlighting that you see why we really want something it's because people want it and that it's not and that and and I thought you see that sounds when we say it it sounds so simple but often it isn't like we don't like in a way aside of it is common sense to us but a part of it it's it evades us and
you know it we we can't seem to um from one side it's Common Sense oh I want a Porsche because everybody's got one not sorry not everybody but people who or I want an iPhone I want the latest iPhone because everybody's got it so it gains value through its through my mises through mimetic Behavior like you want it because people want it you know and this Association so you know you'll get a brand new sports car and they'll put a beautiful woman next to it
well why because there's this understanding that well oh she loves this car and you see and by people wanting something you want it and then you want that so the this kind of behavior but this group think and the verse reminding us so that's really a powerful reminder and that just to follow that with a Hadith
that is fascinating that uh it is in bukhari amongst other books as well like and and these other narrations that um that the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam sent and it's to do with the famous Hadith they do not obey the creation by disobeying the Creator but this also ties in by the way this does not mean that the creation does when you say by disobeying the Creator this is not speaking about the interpretation of Scholars
because they too are creation so it doesn't mean that oh what the ulama or the shoe or what they have said especially where people have disagreed that that is definitively what God has said they are still part of the creation and that's that's a a fine detail that many people miss when observing this
so in this Hadith and this is in buhari as well the prophet salallahu alaihi wasallam sends a group um on a an expedition and he places amongst them in a mirror and tells them to obey the Amir but what happens is they have this Fallout and and although some narrations claim he did it as a prank but other ones clearly like the in Muslim and you can see here as well um it seems to be because he got angry over something uh he gets angry and what the the the
commander uh or you know the one who is they've been told to obey and who told him to obey him the prophet told them to me he says to them I want you to to light a you know a great fire make this great fire and and he says I want you guys to jump into it and in certain narrations he asks them that have you not been asked to have you not been mandated to obey me and they say we have by whom by the messenger of Allah
he says so jump into it and you can see like I mentioned like in the Muslim Ahmad and in other narrations it's because he's angry it's not a prank but I know in I think in ibna Maja they it's made out that maybe he was pranking them but in the other ones it's because he gets angry now some of them get ready to do it they say okay you know fine you know we'll do it and this you know that their their devotion is admirable wow wow these people will you know for Allah
and his messenger they will give their lives this is jump into burning fire ah but it's a misplaced love see one of the companions he said he said la you said we yes the messenger of Allah told us to obey you but we have obeyed the messenger so we can escape the fire see he used the voice of reason he said but we've but we've come to God so we can escape a life of you know of a an abysmal
uh uh end and burning and fire and destruction to to avoid this we came to Allah on his messenger by jumping into it we're doing the opposite of what we came to Islam for then they go back to the prophet and the prophet says Ah had you jumped into it had who jumped into it with what intention were they going to jump into it to obey Allah and his messenger
according to who according to the spokesman of the faith at the time the commander instructed by the prophet and them being mandated to follow him so was he the spokesman on behalf of Allah and his messenger in that moment he was had they jumped in the prophet said he said you would have found yourself forever burning in an eternal fire never
obey such nonsense there is no obedience creation including those who are interpreting on behalf of Allah and his message if it is leading to the Disobedience of God that's an incredibly important point that so many people miss when when reading this Hadith
said to those who want her to jump in and they were only going to jump in out of a sheer devotion and love for the prophet is they would have remained in it forever the obedience is only in that which is known which is known to be good see now in this Hadith he said film a
roof obedience is that which is known to be good be weary so the same so it goes to yes if somebody told you to steal if somebody told you to kill someone if somebody told you to it goes to all these authoritative figures it goes to if people tell you to just conform for the sake of it see they should be they should always be freedoms we should always have the right to question something
you should always have that right we cannot silence The Voice the dissenting voice because you see that that is a that is tyranny but amongst that voice as well you will find voices that claim to be speaking on behalf of God those voices as well
you know it's in those things that are known to be good if you find yourself in weird things no you know just take a moment introspect is this the goodness that Allah and his messenger have brought to you if you find it in a Hadith that if you find it you know unsettled in your heart then that's a sign that it's a problem so this is honestly a truly a beautiful Hadith that you can see and this was uh the
other one in Ahmed where in the Muslims where it says it says it's obviously one of the meanings to mean to God angry it says he says that didn't the messenger Monday that you're paying me foreign
to escape the fire why didn't you go back to the messenger and ask him this don't sound right so and this is the same one in namata to film and this is a fascinating discussion because it also touches up on things like obeying who how does one obey management how does one obey a chain of command how does one obey the appearance how does one obey the spouse how does one obey friends how does one obey this goes in everything you cannot
you see it is often you get the question somebody is saying uh you get one about relationships divorces parents saying you should divorce such and such parents saying you should marry such and such we get this very commonly especially within the Desi kind of community foreign yes you are asked to obey but utter obedience like when it's being done under the banner of God it is being done only in that which is known to be good
and then what is unsettling a person can refrain so I hope um that shed some light that see Disobedience what the purpose of this was to understand that it's not just cut and dry it's not something which Conformity you shouldn't obedience to God in Islam is not necessitating a social group think or conformity not to a state not to a political party
not to an ideology not to a sect not to a group not to a gang not to an organization not to Islam always will want you to reflect to take a moment and recognize yes your devotion of pure commitment to God is always the but when you have to be weary when people when people they wield that Banner of God here
they are speaking on behalf of God it is not God himself it is the channel that it is coming through so once again there is this fine line between obedient between conformity and obedience that it is not all Disobedience it is not you know it does not necessitate one or the other so because sometimes we see this and we see this in religious circles as well that people seem to assume that oh um that that obedience necessitates conforming social
Conformity and it it doesn't necess it doesn't mean you have to oppose the social standing so things are not necessarily their opposites there is a middle ground I hope that um helps and is of some help right let's move on people all right any questions let me see if there was some super chats I'll just come back to them
um all right much love for the Super Chat uh salaam of the hope all that as well just wondering what is your take on the character some osamiri that is mentioned in Surah Taha yeah you know that's a difficult one I I think I still need a lot more research on that I'm I don't feel I'm in a position yet
to give an I don't know what may you know a very meaningful um why is he mentioned who is he where is he from what are some alternate narratives I don't know I don't know it's because there's hmm you know it's interesting it's interesting this is not by the way the Samaritans it's not this predates all of that this is from the time of Moses right so an Amin shukran much love for the Super Chat do you believe prophets made in prophecies that came true do you
consider the Miracles uh the prophets that made prophecies that came true I mean there's there's many yeah that they will be many prophecies that um came true as as an example the prophet saying that this faith will reach all corners of the globe that it will reach uh every place on Earth whether it doesn't say people will embrace it but he said it will reach everywhere that a day will come it's from you know the the prophecy of the Prophet sallallahu amongst many
countless prophecies so yeah these kind of things aren't unquestionably I mean are they miracles of course they are miracles of that nature and we've got a whole detailed discussion on what does Miracles mean and you know does it because we've got to stop being so caught up on um of physical science being our Benchmark to measure things you know this a lot of people have fallen victim to empiricism
and they feel that that to defy that is the only measure that's just such a in fact I was reading just yesterday you know this it was fascinating this uh so this actually is to do with this month's book of the month I mean this is not to do with it but this is the backdrop this is on Freud Adler and young fascinating book by Walter Kaufman but it's interesting how he's contr how he's contrasting between Gerta are Newton in their presentation of what it means what what does it mean to have a science
and that the physical science although it's a very Newtonian way but not a gertian kind of methodology and Freud obviously seems to follow along the tracks of Gerta amongst other people so yeah but let's not get caught upon empiricism people it's not the you know it's not believe it or not it's not actually how we the major psychosocial construct by which we go through the world anyway uh Gold Club shukran much love for the Super Chat Allah keep you blessed the Mad caliph
Allah your discussion with Dr Javad was very interesting shukran I appreciate that Allah bless you and you know but quite a fascinating intriguing uh name you've got there [Music] unquestioning lemming might not be easy yeah it isn't you're right um right okay so
right let's uh we've got Gulzar not the poetical Tsar um how was Adam's future generation created if not incest they've clearly not watched any of my videos have you you know I it really does annoy me
it really does annoy me the I don't know that the the audacity people have in their sense of entitlement to knowledge it's like no but people don't want to you know they'll have questions but they'll never research them they'll never go out and like they want everything fed to them you know this spoon-fed
culture spoon-fed generation of people that we have you know just they want to be picked up like babies and spoon fed [Laughter] up don't learn something yourself don't go out and try to learn something so it's and I get it so often you know people will send me a question oh be like why don't you just search on YouTube you know I've already answered these things uh why don't you send me the link
yeah why don't I I can think of a thousand reasons why I don't but I wonder if you can think of it here are your entitlement um so it's it's just to look at this thing don't laugh at us mere peasants
oh I'm joking I'm not laughing at that no I don't mean you guys what the hell but it's just a um yeah but nevertheless um right nevertheless nobody said that Adam uh had to be the only human being on Earth and obviously if you followed five minutes of science human anthropology you would already know the answers to that so it doesn't really uh state that neither does the Quran stated but you know sure if you want to believe that then you believe you know it's like a
self-imposed problem like you say I want to believe Adam was the only uh homing on Earth you say well uh okay you say ah but if he's the only hominy then where did he get the other he said well so you came up with the problem you know who told you the problem it's like well you know but Allah didn't say there were other homonyms but he didn't say there weren't any other hominins so it's like well ah but Adam was the father of the cognitive Revolution he was the father of Consciousness as we know it and the father of all human
beings today that's a difference but anyway I'm sure quick five minutes of human anthropology will fill that up for you quite easily you'll learn about the other hominins but you can watch my other videos if that helps um right okay so right I want to share some quick thoughts and then I'll share a link and then we'll wrap it up um
all right okay I don't know why that news I don't know what anyway see look I'm getting distracted um Fareed shukran much love for the Super Chat Allah keep you blessed um right so I wanted to share some words on nomenclature that nomenclature is the terminology that is found and it may be to do with a particular science or a particular industry or a particular
um field and some nomenclature see think of these things as an organism that they are a living organism and like culture many people think you know what one way of looking at Social anthropology or Human Social Studies is to view culture as an organism and this and this um a book on this an interesting one Darwin's Cathedral but um what's his name it's something Stone
um but anyway is it sorry is it David Sloan or something but yeah so but Darwin's Cathedral lead this highlights this point that you see culture too takes on the life of an organism almost and in many ways what's to say it isn't a living organism because how do you define something that is living that it's evolving that it's growing that it's I guess you know you could say metabolizing metabolism but then obviously viruses become you know that's
the debate they're not viruses alive because they're not really metabolizing but so right now but then one could say that cultures and ideas do metabolize since they themselves are non-pulpable what's metabolizing is also impulpable so okay cultures these things they are organisms here and just like in nature
there is a survival of the fittest there is they compete against each other they try to living organisms try to out survive one another they come up with great skills and one species preponderates over another similarly culture is the same okay and within and culture here I don't just mean it in the sense of like South Asian culture you know Arab culture I don't mean like that kind of sure that kind of stuff also it can
apply to but I don't mean that necessarily I mean more in the sense of ideas okay um right so right so um so it's always interesting to know that that these things are like filters that come before us and the filters May over time may be replaced by other filters and it comes back to people challenging filters and and nomenclature and language for us is often a product of the the the dominating
culture so just as we have words in English like let's say a lot of words that are a result of the Industrial Revolution so people saying that oh you know that all this pressure within him or within her or they're bottling in their you know these emotions or you know this person's gonna blow up with with all these you know problems and uh using this language which is all linked to the creation of the steam engine and the Industrial Revolution that followed
and us still using it you know I don't know 150 years later and now the language is being more and more um determined by the digital world around us and the virtual world and all these things and we're getting um I'm sure people are using those kind of terms more often to describe their world so and and then those terms become very real for us like when we say oh you know there's all this pressure building up inside him
that to us is even though the statement it's you know it's it's from the Industrial Revolution and we're still using it today but we use it very real in a very real sense we mean this person all this pressure is built like as if it's a real to us so keeping that in mind right it's important to understand that in the Islamic tradition we also have a lot of nomenclature a lot of terminology that has competed with one another and
some have preponderated and they've dominated the scene okay so let's take as an example Hadith as a science it is a culture okay so the mahati Thorne were a competing culture against the so the people of fit were of a different competing culture they had different terminologies and they had a different landscape and and there was a culture War and to be fair for the most part
probably the fuckaha won it throughout the Muslim history because most scholars in Islam are Scholars of the majority of Scholars throughout all of Muslim history one may argue probably 80 percent of all Muslim scholarship was Scholars of film and one simple explanation you know to be reductive maybe simply because that's where the money was because if you became a faki you had a career path so you could train to become
there were many jobs you could do so you could train to um become like an assisting magistrate you could become like a paralegal that helped the magistrate come up with law you could become the magistrate which himself which was the cardi you could become a regional kind of called the you could become a provincial cardi higher up and you had all these are these which were judges and the judges were yeah because that was the route and what you could also do is write books on ferc and the books would sell because there was a market for film because it was a
practical science it was an applied it was law so there was a route to take if you studied let's say language like Arabic and you're a grammarian you could teach people Arabic now Arabic was the lingua Franca so there would always be need for people to learn Arabic just as today there's always a need to learn English so if you're an English teacher you're not you know there's plenty of work sure you can create your own little books and you can do that but if you were a Hadith scholar now that was an Eclectic a very rare
Niche profession it was important but it wasn't it wasn't lucrative it wasn't necessarily it could be maybe you wrote a book that made you a lot of money and you usually people in the past would get a they would find an endowment they would be kind of given a walk that they would find a patron that would uh patronize them in in in that's patronize in that sense that to to give them money to as a like a scholarship I don't know scholarship's the right word but they're basically a walk an endowment they would say that look
you study on this I've got like some wealthy people in the past they had all these fields they would say you know what this field is dedicated for people who are studying Islam so they can live off the money that is made in this thing and people would live like that and people sometimes themselves they would be gifted endowments for their entire lives lifetime so they could live off the entire produce and the money that is made from that produce of these lands and that gave that freed them up to do their creative research so this is how it used to work in the past by the way the walk system so now
Hadith it was very important very popular I mean it was important but not as popular as fake but in the last few centuries Hadith has really preponderated and to some extent you know In Our Lifetime as well it's dominated the Hadith nomenclature has so words like see it's interesting because these are Arabic words and sahih means something correct and life means something weak so but sahih does not mean something
correct linguistically so that that's important to understand life doesn't weak does not mean something weak linguist necessarily linguistically in that in that sense so sahih especially what sahib means is the chain of transmission is connected and has been authenticated it does not mean because the Arabic word sahih translates as correct in this context it is not being used as the normal Arabic word it has been used as a
professional word okay so just as today if I said oh write this uh I don't know write this bold or in italics or write this Times New Roman like this even though these are English words they mean something that you're understanding oh I'm talking about a particular font I don't just mean write this bold about even though bold could mean something else in in just English or times I don't know what times the
enrollment would mean but let's say you you understood something that's not what it means it's a it's nomenclature it is legal speak or in this case it is um it is Hadith speak it is not your standard Arabic they're using it as terminology as nomenclature not to mean the normal Arabic word which means something is correct now that's important because you see
in their world a chain being correct connected or not connected does not necessitate whether that Hadith is acceptable or not necessarily so according to the thick world a Hadith being accepted could be down to the fairy practice of that of that region Al Medina they say well this is the Sunnah it came down to us through the living tradition this is accepted we don't care if there's a chain for it or not so these are Divergent Worlds the
cultures competing cultures diverse views on one hand you have the Mahadev theme who their world is centered on Philip oh sorry on Hadith and they use words which are Arabic Words which have a normal meaning as well like something is correct sahih but they're using it to mean that the chain is connected you should not translate that so if the chain is not connected they will call it Thai for weak it does not mean the content is necessarily weak
it just means that this chain according to them did not meet the criteria according to the in their world chain may not even be that important so Imam Malik to him chain wasn't that important sometimes he'd miss chunks of the chain you'd say well this has come to us through the living tradition
so regardless he was one of the greatest of of all Islamic history put together so regardless of the later mahadithin crystallizing these terms in nomenclature when they use words like something as sahih if something is life you must keep in mind that this is speaking about terminology it's not the linguistic meaning okay so they are not speaking about something being actually correct
not according to the vast majority of the scholars necessarily anyway just because it's an Arabic word okay so they simply mean that the chain is not connected so yes according to that culture that may be invalid because that culture deems everything to be chain Centric so if the chain is incomplete it's life it's weak weak what life is not okay the chain is weak
it's important to remember that according to many of the sure if they don't disregard the chain but it doesn't hold the same importance to these people to these people it's like well okay it's good it doesn't hold as much it's like saying look like let me give you an example art to many people let's say people on this art may not hold primary importance in their life it doesn't mean they disregard art or they hate art or they think art is
stupid it doesn't mean that they recognize art is very valuable it's contributed to human uh culture it's it's fine it's monetary it has great monetary value you know it can be worth millions and millions and it's they they appreciate there's some appreciation some people may appreciate it more than others but there's some appreciate people don't disregard or abhor art but it's not their world to them it's like um my world gets on fine without art so I don't disregard it but it definitely doesn't take the primary or secondary you know ranking in my life
but to some people that are art collectors and that aren't uh you know uh connoisses and that are art uh curators to these people their whole world hinges on art as in I mean this may be a poor approximation but I could have used anything to just give you the idea but similarly is not it's like that it's a concept which sure everybody can appreciate it these people their world revolves around it that group of Scholars not so much you know that sure they recognize it
yeah it's it's good but it doesn't get first or second ranking at all and the Arabic words that are used definitely don't translate to The Standard Arabic meaning so just because they declare something doesn't mean it's linguistically correct according to this group of people so right right so and the same thing I hope that may if they declare something weak it doesn't mean that the whole debate for these people or sorry the whole effort the project is
to do with the chain and to these people it's more about the living tradition and the applied Islam so if the chains so basically that is subservient to this and to these people sure that had so in recent years because of the rise of of Renaissance in Hadith studies that we found especially in the last century one to two century and especially the last century and the rise of the salafia dawa so and I'm not saying that's a bad thing that's actually a good thing that it brought Hadith once again to the Forefront
but people should not in that moment confounding moment you know lose themselves to think that these words translate asahih in Islam no it does not mean that Hadith or what this Hadith is saying is in Islam or life in Islam No it is sahih IL is not in its chained in its chain and this is one of the primary things
that the the that that the two madhubs primarily the the malikima the school of Medina and the school of kufa Imam they sought to make clear and separate diverge themselves from the other you know way of thinking that the more kind of um everything is about a Hadith as opposed to the Sunnah so splitting these two I think it's um it's definitely something that uh is is under stressed so I want to share that with you guys I hope it's of some help right
um who is art art who is Art oh art who art thou [Laughter] ah right um right guys what I'll do is I'll share the link um is saying that was interesting well I appreciate that um yeah I'm interesting or I try to sometimes I do wonder what on Earth am I going on about and does anybody actually understand
anything I'm saying do I need subtitles for mufti's heavy British accent tobatoba I hope not so right so I've shared the link all right so I'll check my settings for the audio uh nope right so the earphones are not connected let's see on momentical okay they are now um right so talk very informative
uh sugar and sugar and can you please what uh did I miss a or Mr Super Chat Nora shukran shukran from Florida may Allah keep you safe I've heard that there's some uh is it a hurricane again or something this damn yes anytime I have a question on Islam I search on YouTube more often than not I end up being pointed towards one of your older videos oh
and Imran Khan said we missed a cognitive Revolution [Laughter] uh he's right how you doing much appreciated likewise um to somebody saying I missed
um Mind Trap with hikma history I don't know who that is uh let me know who they are um did I miss another Super Chat uh right okay all right okay so let's move on we've got a few I can't see any other questions if I've missed them try to catch up on another time we've got who do we have here we've got uh Fareed Fareed kayani
how are you I'm good I'm good where are you joining us from Fareed just not not too far from you I'm from Birmingham yes Birmingham yeah I'm good thank you more good it's getting quite late I've just um wrapping this up what what do you what do you do do you got uni do you study do you or you just praying the hajjud in this hour we should have husna done with people
see fariba to pray the hundreds and he accidentally had left YouTube on and he goes oh yeah you know oh look live stream what live stream is that um but no uh so I'm a I'm a dental student wow okay so I've just wanted to visit my family for a bit um but I do miss Birmingham a lot so when I come when I go away I miss Birmingham so much but honestly um I've been meaning to speak to you for a while um I've done I've watched quite a lot of your videos for so many years um
about three four years ago I wouldn't say because of University and because of other things um I haven't been able to really dial into it but I do know after uni I do really want to master Arabic and go into my league but at the moment I just read simple books okay just got my basics of faith and then I used to attend some lessons in um wooden with uh Muhammad Sid Iqbal um
honestly he is so he is so you know under appreciated I think I think people just ain't aware of him because he doesn't you know he doesn't um like he's not one of those that has been interested in the public Spotlight and therefore he's kept himself to himself and he just he's been consecutively teaching since I was a teenager I mean he taught me in my early years and now he's still teaching you know when I speak I spoke to him on WhatsApp it's been a few weeks ago he was uh he
was in Pakistan I think he just got back actually a couple of weeks ago but he'd messaged me and uh we're just talking and he still you know he's still teaching now so he he goes all the way and may Allah bless him with a very long healthy life he's such a gem I really advise people that are interested but but if you're seriously interested um as in you're committed it doesn't mean you have to take on a ton of stuff but you just have some Commitment if you have that commitment and you want to learn Maliki first you
I know there's a common name but if you if you look it up he's he's on my friends list he's he'll I'm sure you'll find him I've got I've got a mind trap with him so if those of you that can't find him yeah find My Mind Trap and I've got a description for him and you can find him he's so and he and he's and he's always been teaching and he does it just feels you know this is wow is yeah yeah sorry Karen no no please please yeah um yeah because it's so he's local as well isn't he just he's just reward and he was doing the lessons I think it was the only Maliki lessons um but this is when I took on Malik when
I think I was like 14 15. wow okay and it really really I don't know I just because I had a really good Islamic City teacher and he he didn't he went he didn't you know where he didn't go through the conventional you know subwork and read your you know you taught a statue you know Islamic Studies and the schools of Thor and the mud hubs and he was originally hanafi um but then as he was teaching us he was going into Malik and he said well I was one of his right students and he was like well the choice is yours he let me let me understand all the mud hugs and to be honest I inclined towards Malik the most
and ever since like we've me and him always been like practicing the subtle and in certain places you've got to be careful where you're doing it in Birmingham yeah you know for the past few years now I think I don't know whether it's been three years four years I've I've done subtle con you know consistently so I just pray with something I think prior to that I used to do club and I don't know why but in the past three four years I've prayed with sadal and yeah it's just but so okay so this this person teaching you he was
um similar age to you or he was uh no he was a lot older he was around um I think 30. the thing is this is quite a few years ago and I'm hoping to get back in contact with him but what was his name run Imran Malik it's funny because his second name is Malik is also he took on the right path but I don't know I mean because that's just asking just in case I'd come across but it is Birmingham either there's a must I believe um in Autumn which is not too far from me the Alton project and I believe it's the
only Maliki mosque I believe in Birmingham is the romalicky Masjid in Birmingham it's so the thing is right so when I go to my location people are going to say see multi clearly doesn't know about the Masjid I just I play in my low Sky live I live like literally two three doors away from us and I had a friend a yemeni friend he was like he came up to me Shafi and he was oh you're mad like he was like oh whoa I was driving around and I've noticed uh you've got a brother in town so he was like why don't we check out his mosque and I went in it's um I think the Alton project is cool
I've only been once obviously as I said I'm not usually in Birmingham university project the Alton Alton oh lto near salio um yeah they changed it from church mosque I believe okay and I went in and Imam he does the you know Southern he does the one Salam like to the right and I was shocked I've never seen that in Birmingham or anything like it I mean it is you know this it's it's the kind of beautiful diversity of Islam isn't it honestly and I feel this is you know look all mud
herbs this is just in case people are you know confused or in case if they're watching this and they think they're thinking something yeah no any person that you know the whole thing in Islam whatever is easy and comfortable for you and and it gels with you uh it's fine none of the mother hubs are wrong in the sense as in to follow them nobody would say something like that or they shouldn't anyway and it's from the beautiful colorful diversity of Islam uh it's just that some of them they you know there's like you know like the Hadith mentions that they are
Souls that that you know before this life they knew each other and and they gelled the moment they connect there's a chemistry and there's a Harmony and you find some meth Habs just gel with you that you have yes wow and I definitely found that with the school of Medina the Maliki mother of just being something that really just gelled that it had authenticity I mean they all have authenticity but it had this deeply rooted authenticity in Medina which you know made it exclusive and then but at the same time it had this Forward Thinking of welfare and you know you
need to be for all times and and then it had diversity you know some people say no you can't do this somebody said yes you can and you know it's like all yeah and I found it here that it's something in fact you know uh Nora had asked this question uh just earlier uh this week saying that look that what is it that uh she'd been exploring the market method of saying that well she'd seen me speak about the Maliki mother if she'd heard uh certain people in the west uh she previously Sheikh Hamza Yusuf uh and thinking that oh well okay there's something and then come across from the
20th century uh the great the legend IBN ashur and his tafsir and his book on uh objectives of sharia called makasid so this whole culture of makasid is really a kind of malicky um Drift But this isn't too I'm not saying to people you need to become Maliki or you need to no don't don't feel that this is that uh or although that's why I'm a big follow-up contact
no I'm not saying that really like mainly Maliki Scholars on YouTube so that's why I'm a big follower of your content and just in general when I follow when I search something I'll always put that your name at the end of it because I don't know I just feel like there's so much connection you are see this is it foreign to your your psychedelic and experiences I had a question for you I know you spoke a lot about psychedelic and stuff like that yeah yeah um I've had a few experiences myself I'll be honest but yeah um
I wanted to know I came across an article I want to know your period opinions I think I put it in the chat but I don't think you got through is the uprise of hashish in Islam from like the 7th Century to the 19th century so I came across an article and you can you can easily find it on Google if you type in hashish 7th Century Islam and it was about look how a lot of these Arabic poets were comparing they're called wine the Red red the red desire and the hashish the green desire and then the early Arabs said that the early Muslims said that a hammer was
intoxication of only red wine so the Arabs some of the early Arabs the sufis took hashish as a spiritual plant and at some points in Egypt you could actually buy them within a mosque oh wow okay I've never heard of this okay wow and then it went up and down and then over even in time you can you can see in France like now they have um they have like posts and software they're French Travelers went to Egypt and they came back and they were confused why these Egyptian Muslim preferred hashish over alcohol despite it being you know an intoxication but then later Scarlett said that but intoxication in general
so yeah so something I just put into Google so something's come up that hashish in Islam 9th to 18th century that's it yeah um yeah it seems to be like a whole uh article it's quite a right upon so okay I will look into that because I've not come across any of that um in that sense obviously I've come across the discussion but not in in this kind of detail um so okay that will be uh quite interesting it's quite interesting all of it yeah I right with yeah so the thing is with
psychedelics I hmm I generally even though I guess cannabis is you know it is psychoactive in a way but it's I don't usually group it with the psychedelics per se in my way of looking at things I see the psychedelics as more plants that are you know so I will see things like uh mushrooms LSD DMT 5 ml DMT other kind of all the other kind of actual psychedelic plants that you can
get that they send you on a trip um so cannabis generally doesn't do the generally speaking I know some people I have watched uh certain podcasts people speaking about I think once um yeah I think once Joe Rogan was speaking on one of the things about how he gets some kind of uh like he finds himself in this um kind of very contemplative philosophical State of Mind with and and tripping on especially especially the you know the time Loop I've heard this
from a bunch of things people that they find themselves trapped in a Time Loop when on uh cannabis some of them so that so they you know they things keep happening keep happening to them like they think they think it's repeating so they're stuck in a Time Loop um and that can sometimes happen on some psychedelics but but the Psychedelic experience overall is very different to very different yeah um yet very different to the THC um kind of experience that people are getting from uh cannabis so things like
psilocybin in mushrooms or DMT itself it's just like the the stuff it does like you know the neurogenesis the new Pathways being made in in the brain in real time like you're talking millions of connections just right there in that that's like wow you know you can't honestly like this is why I said earlier today that I I'm you know I think about countries that aren't we like let's say I was because I was speaking about Pakistan but it could be other countries
where they could have more flexibility but they don't Pioneer such Research into psychedelics I find it such a shame that wow like you know you're in this day and age where you could hire you could lead the world on this you know you could just you could invite people from worldwide saying look if people want to you know we will promote obviously within parameters but it doesn't mean that they'll just you know they'll just have guinea pigs but they'll be within parameters you can promote a platform for Pioneers to come and promote their
research for mental well-being and for Consciousness and for psychedelics because the world is going that way anyway and it's a shame that we're just waiting for governments to change their legislation once the corporations influence them to do so which the corporations are going that way because now it's undeniable that mushrooms cure depression and things like DMT uh psilocybin they can cure alcoholism heroin addiction you name it I mean they can change a person's life so people the huge conglomerates are working to to finalize
these trials and then to commercialize commodify you know you know to turn this into a a product that they can sell and that's it and then the government will say oh okay you know now you can you can have it it's a bit like the weed thing it's you know it's some of these drugs are class A Class B drugs yeah like I find it's a lot of people come in naturally from the ground
you know you that is so you've hit the nail on the head how on Earth can DMT be a Class A drug that's like that is such a blasphemy in the face of existence how can mushrooms I mean mushrooms have existed longer than us like that's like saying mushrooms are a I think a Class A drug it's like what the hell are you on about they were a species fungi exists it's like how can a species be Contraband item that is a class A you
know Contraband thing when you've got I mean it makes zero sense and there was you know Joe Rogan had this thing you know I mentioned Joe Rogan he had this post now I don't really I'm not a fan of weed uh yeah and I don't really the reason I'm against if anything weed is more so because so so here's where I'm with weed we generally the way it's sold especially on the streets and all this stuff people that are smoking it of often are very young and the you know the
neuroplasticity in their brain hasn't fully fledged out till about 25 and I feel that things like weed especially the weed that people are finding on the streets it is damaging you know the synaptic connections because there's things like paranoia that is associated with um you know wheat so people that often especially the kind of Street weed that people are getting that when we have these streets especially in Birmingham and all the other like in the UK is very tampered with it's got a lot of chemicals the THC content is a lot higher if you were to get it then it would be naturally found or Jamaica they
have a very low THC content because because nature is one thing you know there's this thing I was watching where they said look you they will speak about sugar what what's so dangerous about sugar and and this thing of refining something chemically they said look like you get poppies here now poppy seeds are just natural and they you know have what they have in them but you refine them and refine them and you go through this process and you end up with Heroin right and it's the same thing like you get this this this natural sugars found in things but what you do is you get them and you chemically refine them and you do this to them and it turns into sugar which is like saying in this analogy it's like saying well what
heroin is from poppy seeds and this is how the effects of sugar on the human body uh people watching this should definitely cut out sugar and should go to I mean if anything just use Stevia but the point is similarly here where you have a cannabis leaf in nature by the time it ends up on these streets the kind of refinement that has happened the chemical refinement and the additives and the alterations they make it so dangerous that you get things like extreme paranoia when people are trying to withdraw from it and paranoia I tell you you know it's a fast you know from from
you know to psychologize it it's such a fascinating Insanity because paranoia is an insanity yeah but it's the only Insanity that does not defy the laws of logic okay so paranoia when people become extremely paranoid this is the weird you know thing about this this is the madness with this because other insanities they are irrational they are illogical like if a person goes insane like says oh like somebody says look I'm Jesus Christ then you can tell look you're not you know blah blah blah this is not this is not how paranoia does not defy the laws of logic
it's the the only one with the laws of logic remain intact so I say you know what I think these guys they're going to poison me now it's actually logical that they can poison me like I say oh you know what they're going to put they can put poison in my tea and they can do you know what they can poison the water and they can and all the things I'm thinking are logically possible but they're just highly unreasonable so it's not illogical so it becomes so difficult to talk The person out of it because logic it's not illogical like me saying you know what that person can buy poison and put it in this and he can be waiting at these they can tap into my
phones and they can you know they can do all this all of these things are actually possible so yeah so and and we get a lot of young people man and you know I feel sometimes there's so that the depression is so much higher in younger people and I think there's a connection with weed consumption Street weed and stuff so this is why I'm you know against that it's not so much to do with the Islamic side in and of itself it's more the harm that it has caused to our young people and it's ruining a generation and thereby becoming Haram because of what it's doing uh not the
nature of the plant but yeah I was coming back to I was going to say I've read something from Joe Rogan that where he said in this day and age he I think in the beginning of this year he said it or was it last year he said in 2022 or 2021 he said that there are people who will put a person in a cage because he in his own home just smoked a plant it's like wow
that's so stupid like that's like deprivation of all Liberty like how could help this person and then the ironies when the corporations back it and they make money and now it's legal but all the people from before are still in prison but now the corporations are doing it and they can make money 10x 100x what people were making but the people that did it before usually the poor people you know from the poor areas they're still in prison and and this is the you know it frustrates you to see this and
you know because the hypocrisy of ah yes Salam honestly yes but yeah it's almost a denial of God almost because some of these things are just they're just natural isn't it they just come right in natural nature especially they say DMT officially originally comes from every human and every living thing on Earth has a small capacity and they say we fight yeah that we find tiny amounts within within us but but not strong enough to cause the effects they're not sure how it's generated I don't know if it's true but they say
when you dream or when you die your DMT goes higher and I know some people have led them to believe that I've heard people say when they die they go on like a trip or something and then maybe that's where they're a good trip or a bad trip depending on I've watched some uh presentations on it where they say maybe like they found it in in rats I think being produced in the liver or being produced in uh and I think they feel in humans it might be like tiny tiny amounts produced in the lungs at first they thought the pituitary um pituitary gland uh which sorry not the opportunity the pineal gland and
yeah so they thought that but they they couldn't really see it but they but they're not sure but we have some traces in us and the question is where is it coming from and I find that very interesting that when it's a certain amount we go on this journey when we and when in we've all got a small amount in us but then as soon as we increase that gram or that dosage that's natural in our body we go on this profound Journey it's hope because look the question is this this is what I say that Allah has created this world he's created nature and
there would be some if I can use the word some cheat codes in nature just as there is medicine in nature as a cheat code to fix ailments so when you something goes wrong in you there's it's one could use the word cheat code like if there's a cheat code by having this it gets rid of that and there are you know that so and you by eating certain things in nature you become stronger physically you become but then there's certain things in nature that are that same cheat code for consciousness to strengthen that and to for a moment
like in a computer game you get this it opens this portal because and if you were gonna hide it sounds like where would you like it because if if oh I'm a I'm a absolute advocate for psychedelics but I you see if you were going to hide it you would hide it in plain sight it would be hidden just in nature that where else it's right there it's it's hidden in place you know it's like a portal to God and I find people that you see like all things I get it that people may say well it's not for everyone and I accept not everything
is for everyone just as you know somebody could say going to the gym is not for everyone you some people could go to the gym and hurt themselves and that's true and doing sports is not for everyone and even though I personally would feel that whoever goes to it you know as long as they have sensibility and common sense it's like anything I mean salt you know if you just got loads of salt and try to consumer you know nobody would do that in their right mind but if you did it would be ridiculously dangerous so similarly that nobody would really get these things and and you know these
things you can't really abuse them just by the nature of how they are but I get that they can scare people because you see what people see now here's the thing and you know we can try to maybe wrap this on this what people mistake sometimes is that you know this the presence of God or this path to God of course God is love Allah says on so many occasions in the Quran Allah loves Allah loves these things but what they forget is that this is you see that the sacred
in even in Islam in religion in faith the sacred is mysterium tremendum it is that which terrifies because you know when you're in this state of what they call uh something numinous numinosity like you're in a state of awe like like the English word awesome but it actually is coming from all like you're like all right so we say Allah
this kind of it strikes an all into you into your presence it's not now it can be very terrifying but terrifying in a different way not like Monsters terrifying but it has this power to it that it it'll it's so it has this Glory that simultaneously fascinates you but it terrifies you so yeah these experiences that people have sure it can I understand that it can terrify people and it can scare them because you know it's like nothing they've experienced
but yeah and it's a shame it comes back to if only I hope you know more and more people more and more Muslims especially people of Faith they Pioneer This research and help people because people are suffering man you know like people yeah it's a shame somebody shared an article now saying oh now there's stronger research saying that psilocybin in mushrooms can cure depression you know within a decade we may be seeing this being prescribed by the NHS and doctors and I thought a decade of people suffering you know you've got a decade of people go living
in depression living with this kind of suicidal ideation living with and just because of you know it comes back to that discussion of Conformity and obedience and Disobedience that there's you know the Sheep mentality that you have to be a you're not allowed to think out of the box yeah but yeah and I think there's plenty of us thinkers in the world I can kill us as well look at the fast foods out there the sugars the cheeseburgers alcohol is I believe the fourth fourth largest cause for death worldwide I mean if you
look at the The Who thing and it results in I think up to 16 known Cancers and it can it it has there is there like in the UK there's a book by um uh what's his name uh but it's it's on the tip of my he's a British neuroscientist and it's all about alcohol and he he highlights that look especially the English families that okay maybe not so much Muslim families but he said every single person in the UK especially the general population uh so he says they would know somebody
within the immediate family like within three generations like parents children you know or like within three generations that has died as a result of something to do with alcohol so whether it's alcohol alcoholism some kind of cancer some kind of they've had some trauma related to alcohol like every single person I mean Muslims might be an exception to to that particular statistic but the general population of the UK so yet you see this is the hypocrisy like alcohol clearly causes you know the amount of
drunk driving the amount of accidents the amount of um tragedies alcohol poisoning um you know kind of cancers developing in the body all of these things yet it's sold like so advertised even made healthy to sell in curry glamorized it's not even it's coming from something you said as well but it doesn't um intoxicate the brain psychedelics don't the way alcohol intoxicates the brain no no there's no intoxication after no no it's not it's not like that and
it's uh you see what it does is uh oh there it is it's it's by Professor David Nutt uh n-u-t and it's called drink question mark the new science of alcohol and your health and if anything these things do a Kush they remove they unveil right yeah but right yeah Fareed it's been awesome talking to you man you know what it's getting late let's I know it's late for you as well but it's been epic I've really enjoyed this conversation man thank you thank you so much stay in touch
speak soon man much love all right people that was Fareed kayani from the UK Portsmouth and Birmingham all right and it's got late people so let's call this a wrap it's coming to two and a half hours um um all right somebody said also very uh YouTube for Andrew huberman yeah he's he's he's amazing he a fascinating neuroscientist I love listening to his lectures or his kind of presentations and podcasts right so
um a quick one uh okay I actually had paranoia someone may impersonate me and stopped using real name okay may Allah make things easy for you and and cure you from from this you know the it's difficult these um ailment of the Mind are the most difficult to but but there's hope you know never there is the power of human will never underestimate that I'm telling you you know there will always be a way where there is a will that never lose that determination and
