share and i'll just be finding today's i take it that's the one i believe it is people so this is what i want to take a look at you're the limits to your world some quranic guidance and i thought for quranic guidance what we'll do is we'll take a look at surah surah okay so we'll take a look at um and go through that why not take a
short surah that we've often all of us have read through and just gain a bit more familiarity with it all right and and then just we can expand a bit on this idea that you're the limits to your world and how that is um what's the framework for that in this world when we say that what is that and and what we'll come to understand is that the world your
constraints they begin with you and then they are the circle in which you interact with and we can just expand a bit on that because i think it's definitely very it's an important topic and then consciousness which i wanted to go through before slightly about awareness just i don't know slightly unpacking this topic of consciousness because there's so much to say on it but at least something some words why not why not
right so people allah see that that ties into our world as well i guess how is the unspoken that my he says my this is me saying it that my
bad situation in reality is it cannot be spoken of up the fact that you asked you you know i'm grateful and since we've mentioned meer we have to couple him with khalid who says
says by their coming by their by that person's arrival and the just their presence he says there is a light a glow he says although that can be seen from us okay and he says [Laughter] says they think that this ill person is in a is quite healthy and well he's full
of spirits but that's simply their presence allah all right so far love you mufti love you too it's all about that huh it was my birthday yesterday happy birthday fahad allah bless you and give you many many blessed and happy returns to come i mean
um um i think you should speak to jordan peterson and sam harris it would be an amazing discussion oh yeah it would be wonderful it'd be oh wow what uh i don't know if if anybody
uh these are like huge entities in their own right you know i i'll tell you we got into a little discussion the other day and i was saying that i don't think people appreciate see maybe it's the generational gap maybe it's um i don't know but i don't think people truly appreciate the shift in dynamics in our time and who these key and why
some of these key figures are so central and um the discussion began because of uh there was a clip which i shared on my insta story um about jordan peterson speaking to i've forgotten the other guy's name he's uh but he was saying that you know why they can't cancel joe rogan because recently there's been all this heat on joe rogan and he said well if they do you know what would happen is elon musk would just give him a call and say let's set up our own thing rival
spotify i thought what a power move huh but we got into this discussion uh some friends and i and you see the thing is that these people are such phenomenal figures for what they symbolize in our age i mean joe rogan naturally for that it's not about his views but it's what he symbolizes because people always
see they have it's natural to have a problem with authority and because authority is often abused and so the state and huge corporations these especially in our age these are although in many ways invisible yet present like we don't know the day-to-day so we don't know them in a personal manner okay with the state you might see certain things being you know thrown in the news but these things from behind the shadows dictate
and then you have certain symbols like joe rogan more than what he does is he's become a symbol of free speech now elon musk is another such a central figure who i think is um incredible all of him because he is a huge visionary of our age and in addition to being one of the most wealthiest people you know tycoons on earth yet he his he's so devoted to this
mission of his and because of the power he wields in a way he is like a parallel authority to authority even though he doesn't he isn't like that it's not that he goes around doing these things i mean occasionally he does but my point is that he symbolizes that you see it's it's not that you have to do the things you have to be seen to symbolize those things and he does that
and jordan peterson you see this i don't know if how many people appreciate this he truly in our age symbolizes faith the the ability to have faith in a modern world and not be embarrassed of it not be because i know well muslims would say well many muslims say well we're not embarrassed of our faith and that's we shouldn't be embarrassed of our faith but generally speaking in the western world
unfortunately the way the situation is muslims as muslims we don't count we're insignificant okay we have to sometimes eat a humble pie and just be honest that you know in in the west because if you're looking at the world as a whole today like imagine you're an alien you've come to earth now when you come to earth it's it won't with very little time you'd be able to determine what parts of the world wield the most power that would be very simple to understand that where the power axes lie and that's what you'd be interested in
you'd be interested in well okay who so it's very clear america the west these countries these this part of the world dictates the momentum of the world it dictates the culture it dictates the language of the world english is an international language it is from these places they dictate the currency in the trade of the world the stock you know the markets the the the free markets the global economy it is dictated by these exchanges okay so
this seems to be the hub okay so now you look at the hub and well religion had not only fallen out of fashion since let's say in this part of the world since i don't know the 80s or whatever the late 80s definitely it had become ridiculed so even if somebody wouldn't purposely make fun of you in front of you but it was seen as somewhat primitive to believe in god and especially in the face of rising
in you know the rising star of science it is and and then you had the celebrity atheists that rose on the back of that and you had the four horsemen you have hitchens and sam harrison who came like a meteor and richard dawkins and dan dennett and these people they are huge huge in what they did people can't maybe because people are not exposed to the greater society they just you know if all you meet and read and
watch are your friends and family and maybe you watch some tv and watch some sports and that's it then i guess you wouldn't really know but if you look at the world dynamics they had really done severe damage to faith to the extent that just take america as a fine example in america it is it was virtually i would say you know whether if not impossible very close to to be a professor within a university and proclaim that you have a faith i mean if it was not impossible it would
be a very difficult argus task to do that wouldn't be worth the task because of the amount of difficulties that you'd find yourself in so just think about that take a moment to let that sink and then you think wow and what was gonna answer these questions what was gonna and really it had to come from somebody who has a profound insight to western culture because that's the sunnah of allah when you you know that whenever the message
comes to a people it comes and i don't mean as a prophet here but whenever a message comes whenever it is explained it is it is with the tongue of the people not just english but a deep profound culture and i remember many years back i mean not many let's say about it was probably 2015 2016.
i remember having a discussion with certain maulanas and mufti's and religious people about is that there is nobody that can take on the likes of sam harris there is nobody that can take on the likes of hitchens i mean hitchens had kind of passed but there was nobody that could really take these people on i mean we could i don't mean let's be fear about it pretend there is a and a non-muslim audience watching or a non-believing audience
to them that are neutral obviously if let's say a muslim said i'm going to debate richard hawking richard dawkins and then they said well this is the aristotle said this and they said this and our arguments and then the muslims naturally we will have a confirmation bias we're going to say well yeah you know because it helps us we're going to celebrate that and there's nothing wrong in doing that that is fine that's natural but to the greater audience who are not believers or who are skeptical or agnostic or to the muslims who are on the brink it didn't give them peace of mind
they were really troubled and and really i remember thinking about this and discussing this with people that there's really honestly that this is so difficult this age that we're in and maybe because people don't follow these atheists so closely they sometimes ignorance is bliss ignorance can be often bliss if if you don't know about all the the dangerous ideas out there then sure you know that's you're in a blissful and arguably a blissful state but all the people that do know
and with the proliferation of the internet internet it's and i have to say where else could the answer come from when you think about the west and you think of science the answer had to come from science because that is what the culture and the language of the people was and i feel the lang the answer came twofold it came one with astrophysics in part
and the other it came with psychology because people underestimated the power of psychology because it too is a science albeit a soft science but it's a science see that's what freud says you know he says make no mistake he says this this work of ours is a science and
going deep into symbolic structures of the world in terms of language the human psyche carl jung it's it's so now it's common sense when you watch it now you think wow it's amazing honestly i think because it's happening in front of us we can't appreciate it but generations that will come later will look back at these times and think wow these were defining moments that changed the trajectory now it's actually you know a person can openly say they believe and and this
it's not so absurd and new age atheism celebrity atheism is kind of dying its death it's interesting isn't it i tell you we are living in interesting times may allah bless them for us all i mean [Laughter]
the beauty of the free spirit may allah bless you for you know your kind words i mean i pray may allah give me the inspiration to be like that that's that would be a vision i mean but truly the school of medina is something but this is really from you know they say it's arunac it is your eyes that ain't
been that you see the eye that that has a glance of love it it can it's difficult for it's short-sighted on seeing blemishes and folds and the eye that has is chastising that is full of like scolding i that can easily find faults and mistakes um so
you should do a talk with destiny i don't know who destiny is but sure send me send me the details right so let me just bring this back up and be with nilla we can begin let's go through the surah and then we'll move forward so i want to share this with us today before we begin that speaking of the limits i thought let's take two quotes here one
in line with our sunnah right let's quote mawlana jalaluddin room that of room that the garden of the world has no limits except in your mind and i wanna and just hold on to that thought on the right hand side there this poem is attributed to um it's it's attributed to among certain people saying as well and it says in some it says
see that you claim you are a tiny entity but it is in you that the greater world resides because if you think about it take just for a moment think of the entire universe because you you because in fact let's get the so you've got our planet zooming out the solar system right zooming out all these stars hundreds thousands upon
thousands of stars you've got the galaxy now zooming out you're gonna have millions of these galaxies okay for the universe now whether there's multiverses put that aside for a moment so right this entire creation
through our consciousness becomes conscious of itself allah think about it through our eyes it sees itself through our hearts and minds it finds its meaning that is so profound so the question that is it really out there or is the greater world within us that
so some thoughts that really i want us to anchor in for today's today's session this was a um a poem with it somewhat of a paradox by john elia but i tell you what we'll uh let's come back to it we'll come back to it so because we'll start off with this with the surah al-zabi shaitaan regime we've all of us have read suratu
takathor so often okay the surah about sometimes they they translate it as competing or as rival rivaling someone but really i see it more as amassing kind of amassing stuff whatever that stuff is going to be the stuff of this dunya the stuff of whatever people say you know amassing goods or amassing wealth or amassing
it's so uh powerful that the quran doesn't restrict it allah you go straight to surah straight to the first verse okay now there's only eight verses to this that this amazing this has distracted you
now what does this is many ways to understand this it could be speaking about wealth of the dunya it could be speaking about um actual properties it could be speaking about things like evil actions being immersed in that but it could also be speaking about the illusion of quantity
you see there is a distinction between happiness or there's there is an illusion of happiness being found in quantity allah says you see it is a mistake people to assume that people or those people who are genuinely happy
that they have the most of everything they don't it's just that they make the most of everything they have it's the qualitative the qualitative absorption and utility and enjoyment of what they have over the quantity but it's so easy because look
in this dunya so many things are a numbers game it's true isn't it it's a numbers game people often say security lies in numbers even to that extent our sense of identity is tied into numbers we want to be part of a bigger group the identitarian you know this is uh henry tajpal who has so much i mean he has groundbreaking research on the minimal group paradigm that within
the individual you see people had studied the individual in the group but there is a group within the individual that we it could be arbitrary what you give us but if we are split over anything and in his experiments we they would randomly allocate people to groups just the mere fact of being in a group was enough to identify with the in-group and favor them against and be biased and prejudiced against the outgroup even if it was absolutely arbitrary
we find safety in our even in questioning our thoughts oh just follow the crowd it's safer i'd rather be with what if the the poet had said illamin i am just one of my tribe if they're astray ramastray jealous allah says that
that that you will not be guided so at the perspective of beliefs ideas goods assets happiness
it was the quality sometimes you'll get people and this can affect everybody you know there's it may affect us when you may identify with this i may identify with it or we may know someone you'll see people who they have wonderful ideas in life so talented
bright have energy but then they get so many oh you know what i should do this uh i should i i've got a friend i won't name him i don't wanna want he's so uh you know why i want i want to do this i want i want to go to university i'm going to follow this degree i'm going to oh i've got this idea i'm going to start up this business you know i'm going to do this i'm going to oh you know what it is i want to get into software i want to design software i want oh wow you know that that's a trade i should be in i should be in this trade i should do oh next week you speak to him you know oh oh my god you know i'm thinking more
and more about i should actually become a crypto trader i should you see if you spread yourself so thin the real goals in life the things that real happiness and quality is made of that stuff you miss it maybe you catch a bit of it but
until you reach the grave allah see but in a way insane is like that he's so distracted it's so easy because this world within us in the hearts and minds it is so vast it's so easy to become distracted we're all guilty of it this is where we we align we gather our focus again
see because either way you certainly and i certainly and we all certainly will come to know that yeah in the end what did we spend all that time on you know trying this and that and this and that and i'm not dissing i'm not saying don't if you can pull off multiple ventures pull them off
you see what i'm speaking about is the illusion of quantity as a concept so allah says that with certainty you will come to know now
this one understanding of this is the afterlife damnation that you will see damnation and i believe by extension we can also understand it to me and this is from the the kind of miraculous nature of the quran it gives us so many understandings when we look at it that even in this world la tarawun
what happens afterwards that's afterwards even in this dunya let's jai and where does this damnation where does this hell begin begins within us see and we spoke about that previously
we'd spoken about that in a previous that one way of understanding is that in this dunya they are in these blessings they are in a in internal paradise allah says and you'll certainly see this see ruin i feel one of the greatest tragedies of of a human life is
its failing in realizing him or herself to have not realized actually like self-actualized that's what i mean by real life not realization but a realization to have not self-actualized by the time we reach the end of this journey
and then at that stage you see it with certainty that yeah what have i done in this life and at that point what does a person do see when a person realizes that i've done then they are asked
one understanding is the architect of course but even here this is the meaning this is also an incredible meaning that you can see that even here at that stage a person who's asking they themselves are realizing what about all those blessings i did have damn you know my father
that i cannot bring back those things that i've gone not by saying if only or i should have i could have i would have these things it's too late and i think this sword is such a beautiful and empowering reminder so brief eight ayat begins straight smacks you al-hakum
attack notice allah is not saying that takata is evil amassing things is evil allah is not saying that this is jahannam or this is haram or this allah is not saying that it's much greater than that
al-haqum you missed the point it distracted you what a powerful surah al haq that these things that you will see them ain't
and then you will be asked to say what about the countless blessings but these powerful reminders what they do is they also it's like a wake up it's like you've washed your face and you freshened up it's like a caffeine kick to say let's start again and that is you know that is something that is god's gift to insane
that whenever no matter even if it's a hundred now check this out check this out you worked imagine you work for me or you work for somebody else works for you or whatever and you're late today and you're late tomorrow you fall short on this assignment or you don't meet that target or you mess up on this particular deal that's going on in transaction and okay so you say i'm sorry you know what i'm gonna tomorrow's a fresh start fresh start
come tomorrow you slip up again you say you know what next week next week's a fresh start come next week you slip up again so you know what next month again next season you know when it's summer when it's spring oh i work great in spring sleep up again say you know what winter you know what the new year now as human beings our patience runs very thin could be like i'm sorry mate
we can't put up with that see this is the incredible thing it doesn't matter how many times you do that that's god's gift to you when your devotion to god and to whatever you're doing you can come back with it whenever you want it doesn't matter today you could just think you know what
i'll fight again and even if you you know you fall short again you you slip up again you get distracted again and then you have a reminder you think you know what i'll do it again it's this is a gift a gift from allah so may allah give us all the topic i thought this is such a powerful surah so well known everybody has read it everybody reads it and yet i thought you know we haven't really covered it so let's let's do that
here it is and if you get a chance do actually try to let's move on to let me take a look at some of the comments
we've got muhammad hassan says guys i have not made a but i do know a nigerian prince you know they've moved on now they want to transfer it in crypto [Laughter] well choker and shukran much appreciated uh nora thank you for the english verse numbers yep i thought it it especially because i wanted people to hopefully committed to memories so
it should help right so have made a big chunk of dollars ah is this you know what if you have may allah enable you to make more and more and more i mean but don't say it like that in front of people you know why it's not because you don't know the pain people are going through you understand there could be somebody
watching this that really struggling financially and in fact the book of this month which reminds me the book club at the end of this month we will be doing our book lounge is about schadenfreude the joy of pain and why is it you see what this kind of relishing in the misery of others and i have to say so it is a it is a reality it is a human you know we can't we can't deny it people we all experience children freud and it's one of the most
i think embarrassing traits to admit to so what a person should do is if they have benefited from uh any trans any kind of trade whether it's crypto whether it's just generally business whatever just be grateful one be grateful to god you can speak about you know i think this is cryptos wonderful and you know what try to give a lil to someone find somebody that is in need of a little thing something little just give forward
now start trading nfts nfts you know what i have to say garyvee single-handedly [Laughter] the man has really amplified the entire nft market but it goes to show on the power of belief he um he is uh definitely somebody very committed
um chad man saying i probably i probably catch up with mufti in a bit been a while well i will share the link shortly and you can join in then right so uh-huh mostly have you watched the movie the man who would be king i don't think i have actually i'll watch i'll um
i'll have to um look out for that after you're done for allah bless you shukran allah i did watch that uh what was it called the tinder swindler and wow huh i don't know but i had so many questions at the end of it so i was like well hmm firstly i i can't believe that his lifestyle was simply sustained on just duping
uh vulnerable women i can't i don't know i to me it's a tough sell i feel he must have had other things going on because it just doesn't it just doesn't add up like even when you i don't know for me when i was watching it and he's turning up to these places and everywhere everybody knows him and they treat him with royalty and all these kind of cars and chartered flights and private jets and you know it just even if you had 15 women that you were duping it's still i i don't know i i don't think it would have been to me it does he must have had something
else going on something quite significant and huge but um yeah and even just creating websites having you know cleansing the entire net of you and just having you as part of some billion dollar corporation a diamond firm being able to produce wage slips having control on their websites i mean hmm you know it doesn't seems uh and i have to say that i i can't
and i'm not here um i'm not just as a as a kind of caution i'm not blaming the victims yeah in case people say well oh you are blaming the victims but for the love of god right if you met a guy tonight who just flew you on a plane okay i get it that sounds epic you know you just meet some guys hey jump on a plane with me you say uh okay so and this guy's got money so you're obviously you know you think wow this guy's got money but you've hardly known the guy but okay let's say you have known him
for a week yeah or four weeks you've known him for four weeks and he seems to have money he's all over the world he's you know he's doing all these things which is wow it's impressive so he says to you that he needs money because of his i couldn't stop laughing over that line my enemies are after me that is so hilarious my enemies are after me and okay but you're a regular person you're just a regular working class individual okay
sure you know you want to help out your friend so i could understand you lend them let's say you you give them something like one two thousand two and a half thousand pounds okay i'm really stretching it now you're gonna take out a loan for the individual remember you're a regular these women were generally just regular working-class women they weren't somebody that you know from wealthy families and and that kind of stuff or even i this was the impression that they weren't even really middle class they're just regular people really working for you know working hard for a living um
so even if they they stretch it they go into an overdraft let's say five thousand pounds okay send somebody 5 000 pounds i get that okay i can get that 250 000 pounds quarter mil i mean what the hell how on earth like seriously at that point you have to question you know that okay i mean they haven't even seen that kind of money themselves in their lives how can you be lending out that kind of money
and this is why i i was like well look okay i get it you give someone one thousand two thousand you know because you've only known them a few weeks but fair enough they've got money so but you're giving according to your istita your capacity you're not giving according to their capacity the guy's like a billionaires allegedly but you're not a billionaire you're not even a millionaire not even probably a thousand there you know you're just somebody struggling so you go out of your way and you give them okay a couple of thousand pounds that's that's like huge for you you know that's like your you've given them a few months two three months salary
but to give them 250 000 pounds worth of then to say you know at that point you're starting to get worried hell yeah i mean at that point you know that's that's you've gone you know there's no this is now at that macabre stage you're at that graveyard stage there's no hattaz you're at the graveyard there's no damn i have to say that wow so and he seems the guy seems to be back up on social media he seems to be on
somebody's shed on a groupon one they shared his kind of insta pages and something and he's with some of these other celebrities it's like what the hell is going on here damn you know what but i have to say after that people people be vigilant you know have some common sense as well and listen there was something i remember reading this years ago when i was first learning arabic and we were going over certain it was like the wisdoms of the ages and we're going over there and it's just a and it was it was like fables
and it had this statement in there that if you and it's just common sense that if you come across something that's too good to be true it more often than not is too good to be true okay so just have to brace yourself and just and if you're ever floating just ask some friends say look because your friends will always reel you into reality they'll kind of like bring you back in and this is why it's always a good um it's a good decision because often when a person is involved romantically their judgment gets cloudy
okay that's men and women and arguably even men because men you know a lot of research shows that men can fall even harder when they fall because often you see men don't really give into or this is stereotypical now i guess with the the new age but often many men in many parts of the world won't be so open in being vulnerable with their emotions so when they do because that's not something they're so used to they when they fall they fall even harder
and so whether it's a man or a woman whoever these relationships dynamics can cloud your judgment so one of the best things you can do is speak to friends because you know what friends will they'll take the mick out of you they will ridicule you a bit they'll have a little laugh and a joke but in that believe me there is a wisdom because when they do that they they will kind of make a joke maybe about something and you'll kind of see like a different side that you don't want to see so yeah i i honestly it's something which
friendship is so important your circles are incredibly important sajad hussain right let's move on so somebody said mufti should stream on twitch why is twitch a good audience well maybe i should look into that mufti your thoughts on hijab sajad shukran much love for the super chat
may allah keep you smiling look and since you uh have announced quite cheerfully that you've done well on crypto i'll share you can message me and i'll share my ethereum wallet wallet and you can you can just grace it with with some of the grace that allah has given you [Laughter] right so guys let's uh right what was the question oh this was a very serious question okay
so yeah let's share some thoughts on this right those of you that are not aware india has been quite a lot going on recently in india and it's unfortunate that the you know the rise of right wing populism for the last several years under the bjp which is the political party which is in power um [Music] which is a kind of right lean it is a right wing it is a right-wing party and quite somewhat fascist almost in the
approach and and the way they often win votes is just by dividing people and so whenever the elections will be due you'll get more they will do some stunt he'll kind of create division between hindus and muslims and and then all the hindus will kind of vote for him and it's the same kind of trumpian tactics that that take place so recently what's happened uh one of the issues that's happened is in towards kind of southern india karnataka where you have the with
its capital is bangalore so it's like one of the the high-tech kind of um [Music] states of southern india what's happened there they've generally as far as i'm aware they've had a kind of harmony in the south of india so unlike north india there's not been this clash between muslims and hindus and stuff like this as far as i don't know my my kind of understanding because islam in southern india has been these since arguably from the time of the sahaba and it didn't come in
violently islam in the north of india came through iran through sindh in modern-day pakistan and came in the form of armies so there's all and then there's been dynasties dynasts that have ruled and the lord these and the thorax and the mughals and whereas in south india the muslim community has just been a kind of for an initial migrant and then an indigenous community that's just lived there so there's been much more harmony now things have got stirred recently and i i think it's because the elections once
again and there were certain colleges that just suddenly denied entry to muslim girls wearing the hijab and they did this on the ground so this was in january um just last month and they did this on the grounds of of breaching the uniform but the issue was that colleges generally don't have a uniform i believe in india and so they said that we're not going to have this hijab that you're not allowed to with hijab so the girls had made a valid point in this kind of recordings of them online where they are arguing and they're saying that look
well you know why now because there's only two months left for the exams either when we were taking entry you should have they have a very valid point that when we were taking entry you should have made it clear that we can't you're not allowed to come here if you wear the hijab then we wouldn't have come but if we've come and paid and now we're two months away from the exam and suddenly you come up with a rule then if anything you're just causing our education to suffer and so this got it heated and the the principle whatever the college denied entry and then the girls protested and and then in
contrast to that some of the hindu kind of groups or factions kind of pumped up a group to kind of counter protest and so this has been going on i believe the mata went to some kind of local court and the local court i think it kind of just gave a vague ruling in saying that um that colleges should just it just kind of said that look they should use their discretion wisely or something like this it didn't really uh make it clear so the colleges are still where they are they seem to be adamant um i think the mata has been taken to some higher court
in india now and the awaiting some um they have some kind of collegiate boards or something that have to make a decision for that college and so up until then there's just this tension and there's this very famous viral clip now of a girl going in a neckar and she's surrounded by these counter protests that have come wearing the kind of saffron scarf yelling jeshuri ram which is become the kind of counter slogan and it's become a slogan for right wing
a hindu fascism so jesus which in essence just means i suppose just glorifying ram but so they're yelling that in her face and i think there's about like 50 of them and then she just stops in the middle and says allahu akbar and she says allahu akbar and tremendous courage tremendous courage and you know may allah protect her and and you could see the principal there who i don't think was a muslim of the college he does he is there to he does protect her there as well he kind of makes sure that none of them these people can harm her and tells her to to go inside
and she does kind of i have to say it's become symbolic of freedom because in the face of all of this adversity this woman i mean even as a man i mean if you've got a hundred men around you this is a woman and she's being intimidated and they're yelling and shouting and there's tension and the whole it's the whole thing is so horrific and then in the face of that she kind of raises her voice as a symbol of freedom and the right to
self-determination and she says allahu akbar and yeah and it's become and it's become a huge it's an internet sensation she's become an internet since they have forgotten her name now um ah i i think muskan i think muskaan is their name and so may allah make it easy for everybody that is struggling there it really is it's hurtful to see these things wallahi i i watched him when when i was watching some of these online i saw this
interview by some indian politician politicians amongst them ashashi taharur or and and even how he was just saying that this is so embarrassing that how can that this is happening in india a country which for a millennia has had this culture that how all of a sudden this is an issue and he said that even if schools have a uniform he said that's true but the uniforms always kind of cater he said like when you have seeks in a class he said that they will cater that okay they will somehow accommodate within the
uniform maybe matching it that they will wear a certain turban and he said in the same thing you know he said that look there's many girls who don't wear nihab or hijab and there's many who do but to kind of impose it on them it's it is it is sad what is happening with faith honestly wallahi if anything it just it saddens me you know i see this stuff and i think what are people even fighting over like what are they like what is that somebody believes something a bit different to me
what has really got to people that you become my enemy if you if you hold a different belief to me wow honestly it is it and i tell you this is so far from the human fitrah we by our fitrah as human beings are not like this if given the choice i do believe that we would show love but it's just that it's been poisoned man the well has been poisoned and it's a shame seeing it and you see it kind of like we saw in america in the
trump era and you're seeing it in places like india which is you know one of the largest countries in the world so it's a shame may allah make things easy i mean i remember a meme i mean it wasn't a meme it was a clip which was a ridiculous clip many of you may have seen it was a viral clip an american where some lady who is a a fundamental fundamentalist christian and she's uh she's in some supermarket and she starts swearing you guys must have seen it she's using
all the mother and more she's swearing so she's got this water really and and the guy is recording her and she's saying to him that jesus jesus is your savior you have to accept jesus it's like you mother you better accept jesus so the uh the the sharp assistant comes and she goes she goes so what's going on here mom and then she says so have i got this correct she says she says that this man doesn't believe in what you believe in so that has made you
angry you know the way that the lady doesn't laugh but the lady just says it the sharp assistant she says so he doesn't believe he holds different beliefs to you so so because of that you are angry that's what's made you angry and so she's trying to understand it and it sounds so ridiculous [Laughter] but yeah
so what's this uh daniel shah saying our nature is evil life's test is to control our evil nature i'm not so sure if i feel i think that you're i think that the this i get that bigotry and stuff like this is inherently within us and we have to root it out as we grow um but i do feel that if given a choice we would
gravitate towards kindness than we would towards malice but to do that often we have to level out the plane so people are more likely to be malicious when they are suffering so let's say for example somebody doesn't have money well they have a lack of it and they don't have insufficient foods and insufficient food or they can't give their children what other people can these people are more likely to be exploited
into hate campaigns because it's easier to hate someone when you are suffering whereas when things are reasonably good for you or good enough it starts to kind of balance itself out and i think that's what i feel that people will are more um you know provided things ain't that tough for them that they would lean towards goodness allah
yeah so right guys speaking of the world our environment our circumstances right did i miss um uh do i miss a superchair oh okay i'll get to a superchat so right a topic that cannot go unmissed in line with this theme that you yourself are the limits
to your world because you see if you can believe it and you can picture it up you can conjure it you can conceive it as an idea then you can achieve it for the most part now part of what may stop you is one that takara thought which we spoke of being distracted this is where kafka had said
what distracts you is evil so okay you have the distractions but then what else holds you back and you see part of what holds you back is your environment and i don't mean by that the actual and sure the actual spatial location could be could be a tiny part of that but i mean by environment is your social network
and this is why statements like your network is your net worth come into effect because people often we are reminded who we are by our friends by the people we engage with and it doesn't have to just be friends by the way they could be friends they could be acquaintances they could be even rivals they could be but people who you often engage and interact with they are your circle your circle doesn't have to just be your friends
but it's people who you are interacting with if you're often just interacting with haters or interacting with people who don't like you that too is your circle by extension because it's bouncing back it's energy it's reminding you or attempting to remind you your critics they remind you who you are or they've the their preferred version of you so let's say you wanted i was speaking today to um a neighbor and he just mentioned how and he's uh in his middle ages now and uh probably actually yeah probably just
a few years older than me and he is going back to university to do a degree and i said wow you know i was really you know may allah bless him and make it easy for him and i said that you know that's amazing i'm really happy to hear that and so let's say now one day you decide to do something like that like we mentioned you wake up one day and you get the willpower you know what i'm gonna do this i'm gonna enroll on a course i'm gonna learn this skill i'm gonna just start doing this at this time i'm gonna start going to the gym every day or every other day i'm gonna start
eating more healthy i'm gonna quit smoking what happens is you will get certain people around you that will be like oh you you can't do that yeah but you're always doing this see they're they superimposing a version of you onto you to say well you know but you you're the kind of person that can't do that or you always come on how many times have you quit smoking before come on how many times have you tried to
go to the you ain't gonna be able to you're never gonna be able to lose weight you're never gonna be able to eat healthy come on you're never gonna you never used to study when you're at school now i'll tell you the worst type of bombardment of these things and the most effective in a bad way i mean effective bombardment of this nature is when it comes from people who are friends or friendly that circle because when it comes from just people who hate you you might block it out say well they you know what i'm going to prove them wrong i'm going to prove them
wrong and that might motivate you but when your own friends family that circle say to you your gods are you know your god is down and then you two start to just believe it that yeah see they keep reminding you who you are but that doesn't have to be the you that you really are because that's just their version of what they and in many ways people and i don't mean this that they are evil
but it's human nature okay schadenfreude is human nature people it's not as somebody had once said that it's not enough that you win but that others must others too must fail you know it's not just you're winning you see if you start to do spectacularly well let's say you're in a circle of friends and everybody's just oh you know they're not just past time they don't really not achievers they're non-achievers really and all of a sudden you pull your act
together and start achieving it makes them feel double worse because a person compares himself with his company and he thinks well hmm so in some way when people aren't achieving it serves the collective interest that you don't achieve either even if it's at a subconscious level but it does because otherwise it makes them feel like trash that they feel like what the hell you know how come he's doing well why am i such a waste and so this is why if you find yourself in such
circles you have to start changing them you have to start being around people that are also achievers that also you know that go-getters if that's what you're trying to do so if you're trying to learn you surround yourself or make some new networks with friends who are into learning if you're trying to go to the gym maybe you befriend somebody who goes to the gym if you're trying to quit smoking then maybe you just also hang around with somebody who doesn't smoke because you need to take a step in that
environment and in line with that in life i thought let's give an example i've speak i've spoken a lot i've spoken previously well check this out actually oh i bought some a falooda drink afterwards so you know we've spoken in the past about some about these two great our arab poets so speaking of
interactions circles and dynamics between people what can be a greater example than faraz people if you've heard of diss tracks which i'm sure you all have forget about all these diss tracks and of this age and going to the these rappers dissing one another and
these people haven't got anything on these were the original diss tracks these people are from the time of the sahabah radial so they're from that time okay um you've got both of them are from a tribe known as bani meme okay
now so jareer and frasdak and they're from one from busra is born around busra the other from nudge but they kind of they interact so the way it works basically is everybody's rising they're saying poetry and they're kind of proclaiming themselves and what happens is you see a rival and they diss them and they start taking out their rivals one by one and you're eventually left with just the creme de la creme or the you know the the best of the best
and that just leaves a few and so from amongst them you have frozdak and jareer now by the way was not his actual name his uh they call him that his actual name was he was it means something like like a loaf of bread or something like something like a loaf of something but because he had some kind of big face so he's calling frozdak so these two they emerge as the kind of the best of
the best so they become opponents their rivalry they start diss tracks against dissing one another and the energy is such and and this is by extension it goes as a lesson for all of us the energy is such that it consumes you you get sucked into it
their rivalry lasts as long as harbaugh if you remember of the jahilia pre-islamic wars that lasted it last over 40 years and they live right into their old age into the early 90s so for decades they diss each other and they spare nobody not the other person's mom not the other mother not her not their fathers not their sisters not their wives they it is
absolutely ruthless no holds barred okay people so it is absolutely just it is tyrannical that's how it is people dread it and they really have had it with each other and so they they change the style of poetry and this is why they this is are called so poetry before that was a certain style that you know you and like you stand on the ruins and you say hey my two companions and then you talk about
your travels and then you either talk about women or warfare or your camel or your horse or you talk about wisdoms it all changed with these they just went at it straight as soon as it starts buying at each other and they really are both amongst the epic poets of the era so you get and what so as an example what you'd get is fresdak he says to um he says to jaleer and they
they're going to hajj see it doesn't even stop in hajj and he says and this this is a lesson to be learned here you know when you get so much into something that's negative that's that has this kind of toxicity it consumes you that you don't realize and you just have a momentum and you're just going going going going until you stop so here they are in hajj and for us says to him
says you're going to meet somebody that has you know he has something to proclaim boastfully meaning him who are you going to praise as your ancestors because you see you know in jahiliya time pre-islam when the people would meet up arafat what they would do is they would kind of boast of the so the prophet condemned this but but the arabs it was difficult for them to kind of
give it up and this is why in hadith the prophet said that my ummah won't give it up it's that kind of tribalism and so pre-islam they would stand there and they would openly say their poems and you know my dad did this my granddad did this and my and hahahahaha you know wow that guy's such a legend oh he's such a legend and so this is what frozdak saying to him
who are you going to praise when you meet and the reason he's saying this is because you see both of them are from banita benita means a huge tribe of arabs spread right over the middle east and into the arabian peninsula and it's like a rough tribe as well so you see but they've obviously come from different branches of the tribe and frasdak's ancestry is actually quite boastful as in it's they they've actually done things like they're really so for example his
his dad uh sorry he was also somebody incredibly generous incredibly kind of like known amongst his people and his dad they he was from pre-islam and i believe reaches islam and embraces islam in pre-islamic times what sata would do is he would if he found out that somebody was about to kill an infant girl because in jahiliya time for whatever reason often it was for poverty they would bury the girls alive it's the greatest sin of
you know humanity that this what they called what is what hamza and the quran says that when the girl who was buried alive will ask that why was she killed so one day was going and he saw some uh he saw this kind of couple and they were digging a ditch and he asked them what's this for and they said it's they were going to bury their daughter this toddler this tiny baby and not even a toddler just
like a newborn and he said that how about if i pay her ransom will you give her to me and they because first of all he asks them why and they said they said because of poverty and he said how about if i pay her ransom and he did and he would obviously he had like a huge family clan you would give the child somebody would raise the child so what he started to do was he started to go around seeking out people that were trying to in this horrible abominable way abort a live child you know a living child they were trying
to kill and bury alive the so he would save these and he saved anything between some say three to four hundred girls and may allah bless him in his afterlife for that that is an immense act of just just courage in that time and humanity and in a certain narration the people say the prophet islam said about him and praised him so you can see this this ancestry is like wow that frozdak has this so this is why he's saying that you know
we are and then he's got all these other ancestors that are like warriors and part because many tamim had they were like warriors anyway and so this branch especially so he says in this poem in the sama the one who's kind of raised and built the heavens he has made for us that the allah who's made the heavens above has made our household eve with even more grandeur
says baitan zurara this is one of his ancestors [Music] so he's naming his ancestors that you know mojashi and nashua and these guys are all dons and these are my ancestors and he's proper like praise and this is why he's he's trying it on with jared and the pro but jared wasn't the type to kind of uh stay calm either but he's this is what he's telling and he says that and it's a famous uh line of his
that these are my ancestors like these people like zorara like mujasiya like nashel like that these are my ancestors so bring the like of them on to me either gemma yeah if it ever happens that we come together in a gathering then bring the likes of these for me
so this is what's kind of going on and in their time these two they they not only lock horns they completely consume one another they like so uh there's these two and there's a third as well by the way known as he was a christian the proper locked in najari just to give you an idea why is he dissing jared one he's got his own ancestry which is so but jared his parents were known one that his kind of sub branch wasn't anything special but his parents were known for being super tight-fisted super miserly and stingy
that check this once somebody came to jareev's house and he he he kind of knocks on his door and he's speaking to him he wants to meet him and then he starts asking him he says but tell me who is who is the most the epic poet the dawn poet of all arabs and because remember when it comes to do with fakhr and praising yourself and standing your ground and these guys are the heavyweights of their day and age these are like the mike tysons and the you know these are the heavyweights so jareev says to him he says come with
me so he goes with him and they go into next door into this kind of like shed he's like following him he goes in and he can see this old man who's kind of all huddled up he's got the udder of a goat right and he's got his mouth on it and he's drinking milk directly from the other so the guy looks at jareer and sharif looks at him at this this guest
and he says do you know who that is and he says who he goes that's my dad and he says it doesn't stop there he says do you know why he's he's doing that he says no he says he thinks that if he squeezes like if he milks the goat into a pan then obviously as the milk hits the pan it's going to make a little noise and he's worried that the neighbors will hear that he's got milk so he's drinking it direct
this is his own dad so he says he looks at the he turns to the guest and he says if despite having a dad like that and his dad's name's apia by the way he says if despite having a dad like that i can still manage to boast in my poetry he says then you tell me if somebody can pull that off then ain't they the most darn poets amongst the arabs if they could do that and this is where you know
every poem that frazdak would say jared would always kind of come back at him and you'd say i would rival everything he says our rivals except he says he said one he said this one couplet to me once which i couldn't reply and that is where frasdak says to him
he says you know the people who are generous even if they want to be generous to you they can't gift you their dad he says you're stuck basically at the end of the day you're stuck with your own dad eve no matter how generous people want to be with you and he says he says no he says
that you claim that you're so happy with your legacy that he says like at the end of the day no matter what you boast you still have to go through your dad's lineage and this is why they used to proper go at it so you have one who's a um who's this christian that i mentioned and they're like the top three and they used to all have a royal audience with the caliph that this is how these people in their day and age were so powerful because if they said a poem
they could they could ruin your career with a single lie that's how ruthless they were don't mistake i mean this jared he's not don't mistake him for on a particular occasion and i've mentioned this before there was a a there was this guy called from the tribe of numer who took sides with farazduk and started pro saying yeah for us that's got the upper hand so jared rinse he just released one poem against him where he starts by saying
that allah has prepared me amongst the poets that i you know like a lightning bolt they you know bow their heads to me in there he has this line where he says to that guy he says that he says lower your eyes like don't look at me this one line of his it ruined it ended the career of nomir who are actually quite a powerful tribe and after that
they would be so embarrassed to say that they were nominated they used to refuse to say they would just affiliate with the higher kind of clan this is how ruthless these poets were so they would often meet up in the royal courtyard and their lives got immersed in this you see the reason i'm highlighting this is when you get into something that thing consumes you and gets into you you become part and parcel of it so
he this is athal as well on so many occasions and he says to him on jared says to him even about because he's a christian he disses him about being a christian and he disses him and he says praising the caliph that the caliph is like my cousin if i wanted this actually annoyed abdul malik the king at the time caliph because he says he says he says i think i've mentioned this story before he says if i wanted he would drag you to me like like sheep and you know because you christians and
blah blah blah he kind of makes this even though was highly um respected in the royal court you know this thing he wasn't even though he's a christian he used to say what he wanted to say and he was like an epic poet and he says about jared as well dissing the stinginess check this and i think i may have cited this before he says that if guests came to their home he says it is
if they find out guests are coming to their house because the dog starts barking they tell their mom urinate over the fire so we don't have to cook anything and so this is what they're telling their mom so just in case the guests think oh masha'allah they've got a burning fire you know they're going to put some food on for us so they say boole says
the mother she even then like she's conflicted because she wants to urinate and put the fire out but then she's she's so stingy that even when she urinates she does so in the stingy way that she only urinates the right amount to put the fire out this is the kind of tracks that these people are releasing on one another and check this out right so what happens is uh and jared by the way doesn't kind of go easy on the others either he says to faraz that like this this is an example
for frozdak's dad ralib had been killed by someone called the quran ibn hammer and that's a different story somebody they actually i think they dissed this person and he came back and he killed him so he says in this poem he says he says he says there's nothing you know that for us that sword is kind of useless he says
he says whereas you know the sword of the quran look at this winding him up that's the guy that's killed his dad he says yeah that's still you know that's where where it's happening and he says to him he says in that he says uh he has this line where he says he says that he would like basically suckle that this grown man would circle for food he says
this guy is so destitute this is why he's saying to frisdak that if he saw anybody he would try to suckle him circle their nipples he says he says even if the guy is disabled who not only is he disabled he's being led by a blind person so he says imagine this a disabled person who's been carried by a blind person now these two come past for us the first that would still beg from them [Laughter]
this is the kind of stuff that was going on people now why is this important it's important to understand that you're what you get involved in the energy it locks you in in life that's exactly what's happened here and and from amongst these things frisdak once says about um he says about jareer
he's kissing him and he says um he has this uh what he says to him that he says khaled kulaib kulaib is the tribe of um the sub clan of jared says he says that his his sub clan are saying you know what we better run away with uh you know because frozdak's gonna eat him up he's gonna eat him up and and he says
anna like check this out he says that i am death that will take your soul. that you what can you possibly do about death it says now check these lines out because first that becomes really proud of these lines and and he claims that jared could never out do him on them he says that ana unlike the full moon
shining in its glory he says that the way which just you know the light it over how overwhelms the eyes of the full moon he says that he says if you try to reach it you son of a he calls him of a kelby's a dog like he says you son of a dog that could you reach the moon if that's what you wanted to do
and check this going back to his dad he says he says we left jared in the market and he had he said he had his dad with him atiyah and he was hoping to trade him in into the market he's hoping to trade his dad
and they said to him take this donkey back says this is like such a wretched donkey take this donkey back look how twisted his face is and this is what he's saying to to uh jared and what he does is he takes a he takes this oath that you know this poem i killed it and he takes in one uh he he claims that
his wife is divorced he does the talaq thing that according to some stories that if that jared could never come out with an answer for that because especially the line he says anal i am death he says what can you do about death so this line had jared it had him consumed mentally for for a while and as it happened they once met up in the royal court
all of them these three and this bedouin comes in and abdul malik these three poets are the veteran doesn't know these three and he asks the the king asks this arab bedouin that who would you what's the best line of kind of flirtatious poetry that you've ever heard of so he quotes a line of jared he calls the one he says
he says that those eyes that have that they kind of that they have the the kind of almost like where the word who comes from as well they have in the the kind of dark the the the kind of the blackness is incredibly black and the white is incredibly white and and they have their eyes like this they murder us and then they don't give us another day sorry they don't bring us back to life so he quotes this line which is of jade but he doesn't he doesn't recognize he just says this to the king so the king says hmm okay he says which line
uh is the most praiseworthy line that the arabs have said and he quotes this other poem which we've done previously where which is also from jared where he says he says to we've done this story before he says that ain't you the most generous of the world when it comes to giving and so on he goes hmm that's fragile as well and then he says okay which is the most the greatest diss track the dis poem
and he says that famous line that hud because this had absolutely shut down an entire powerful tribe and then abdul malik says to him that you know all these three are for jared belong to jalee and he says yeah he said do you recognize jade he says no he says that's jerry right there and you see what had happened prior to this arab walking in the caliph was saying that you know what if i could determine i've got a prize here but i want to give it to the most done poets of you so which who is it going to be and they're kind of like all in this
little argument and then this guy comes in and he seems to be just rating jareer so jared as you can imagine he's like over the moon and at that point also mentions his epic line that i am death people that how do you answer that he says that what can you do about death you know i am death is there anything greater than that so jareev responds to him
people ah reply he says to him jared says to him he says he says your death he says i am time
immemorial time and he says and time can even eradicate death it says so bring me something that can outstretch and outlive time itself allah and you know they say that that poem that even the the caliph then said you know what that oath you took about the talaq i think that the loch this was another musica by the way back then this and the fit books are so full of this what they would do is they would just anytime they want to prove a point they would just say right if this isn't
like this then my wife is divorced this is what they would do it's like they've got nothing better to say honestly the thick books are full of that which is a calamity in and of itself but the reason i was saying this is and i thought this story is important is these people although they produced poetry and the poetry has lived it's lived on and internalized them but they spent almost half their lives in this kind of this hate
relationship and it was so ironic that they became so attached to one another during this time because even though they are rivals but you see it's like a yin yang that one exists by its opposite that in enantiodrama that you have that we spoke of that things with the opposite potential just as in life that you see when we have struggles the struggles
are like the yin to the yang they they carry they balance allow us to balance the goodness and the achievements that come and these two got so embroiled in this that you know when they reached after 40 years frozdak he died he must have been in his early nineties when he died jareer said a eulogy a poem eulogizing him
praising him he said it says wallahi he says it has tore down tamim and wounded us in spite of all the calamities that we've been through the death of
says they have left in this grave today a man who had reached every sky every star in the sky that was visible allah and they say he himself jared within possibly 40 days of razdak's death died as well sometimes what consumes us it ironically keeps us going this is why it's so important to become consumed
by something that is productive because the nature of some of of the energy of what we lock ourselves into and people could do it in negative ways hateful ways maybe many of us have had rivalries with people you've had critics haters negativity and it locks you in and you keep going and the kind of the orbit brings about a momentum of its own this is why it's important to disengage from harmful things and to lock yourself into
something that's product productive and beneficial because the time is going to go by anyway and sometimes maybe there is in some things that we hate there is a blessing and a love you know like in this the enantio drama that we saw that he hated this guy yet kind of had this love for him in the words of haalib
[Laughter] says that don't entirely cut off this relationship with me if nothing then at least keep an adversity but yeah these are powerful powerful reminders really that how we can be locked into things and sometimes they can have a goodness within them may allah give us all i mean the ability to act out on the creek on the greatness of our
potential army let's uh let's move on let me take a look at some of your comments right yeah these are some interesting stories man i you know you get into it and you get so it's like wow you know what let's share um
much appreciated uh damn that's harsh it was harsh yeah so guys what i'll do is i'll share out the link [Music] oh actually before i do i did want to say some words on
unconsciousness just to expand on that slightly because in many ways the story begins that we see with adam alaihissalam that in the quran there is an indication to that this forbidden fruit and what follows from it is a greater self-awareness
that they have suddenly become more conscious more self-conscious more self-aware this journey kind of in many ways begins with that and when we think about it what is being conscious
and there's an aspect i want to kind of draw in on and that is the glance you see because the power of the glance is incalculable being in the glance of someone what it does is it makes us aware that somebody's aware of us
and there is a kind of meta awareness that emerges because not only am i aware of things but i'm aware that you're aware of me so me experiencing awareness is as a subject but i suddenly become conscious of me being the object to your awareness
what that does is it changes my behavior because the moment i realize the glance is on me i react to it you can condition someone entirely by the glance social media
just for the glance just for the views to be seen you see to be the object subjectively it is immensely deep and profound as a as an understanding and in many ways this is like an idea is when you've got jeremy bentham when he suggested the panopticon the prison we
which would be this kind of cylinder where the cells would all kind of face each other and the prisoners would be in the glance of one another thereby not needing the guards because he proposed that just being in the glance would create this hyper vigilance which would then not allow people to they would just be more self-conscious obviously wasn't then author or sanctioned to to to be commissioned the the prison experiment that he but you can google it the panopticon but this
thought and what it does to us how we want to be perceived as an object and we are all this we are all part and parcel of this and it's interesting that even at the quantum level you reduce reality down to the subatomic parameter
and even the being conscious of it gives rise to it in a different way see in the double slit experiment you shoot the electron through the double slit it will go through both of them simultaneously and create a wave so it's not going as a particle it's going as a wave but the moment you try to become conscious of which one is it going through
it behaves differently behaves just like a particle changes the pattern if you haven't seen this i implore you go to youtube watch the double slit experiment so even at a quantum realm we become by be by becoming conscious we influence reality in at least one of its manifestations
and then you think about us when we think we're being watched when we put ourselves we create this profile of us on social media and how then that dictates us it is a profile of us dictating us it's amazing the power of the glance allah says in the quran
allah allah takes an oath by the witness sir the witnessing and the one witness do you see as the subject and the object because it changes
and in light of that see this hadith we discussed it on one of our mind traps see because we become conscious i mean we are conscious but we become meta-conscious through the other being conscious of us it heightens our self-awareness people are looking at me have i got my okay am i it changes our state of consciousness
that the believer is a mirror the believer and as some have said that al-mu'min here is the divine because it's one of the names of allah that the believer you see that mirror that alters consciousness is our realization
that we are in the glance or in the watch of allah and this is exactly the hadith of isaac anna that what if you could be in a state of worship and worship one way is actual ritual worship but it could be much bigger than that it could mean in a state of mindful devotion
in your everyday you could be walking and being in that state of heart that as though you can glance cast your glance and are have your attention on the transcendental divine through his creation that you can do it but how could you do that so far if you can't do it then you at least know that god is watchful of me because it's that being
that i'm in the glance of someone that heightens our own self-awareness because the journey initially began with that self-awareness so what could be a better way of at least developing or attempting it's a lifelong struggle but attempting that the glance i'm in the watch that i'm under is that of god the glance of god
that allah watches over as a default not in a not in a fear way not in a allah is trying to punish me or trying but being watched see because what's interesting is this one can often assume that being watched is a tenth state which it can be it can be a tense state can be but often statistically people perform
surprisingly better when being watched by an audience you see so you've got that altering so yes it is it produces one angle is it produces tension a person thinks i'm being watched and it doesn't have to be if people are watching you doesn't have to be that like a fiery scary but it just because it alters the state it makes a person nervous but that is the same as being excited on many levels and
yet despite that people often perform better when being watched so if that default state of attention if it could the ultimate goal is in a blissful blissful way to understand that to be god i think that would be the peak of that maka in many ways this i tell you what's interesting here to get a bit more of a flavor to this and then to move on
is i don't those of you that have come across the there's a work by uh jean-paul the sartre he's got one i've no exit it's a short story and it's often quoted and misunderstood as well because what satra is saying in it in this brief story it's quite it's very interesting um it's about three people who have died and they turn up but hell isn't what they pictured it's this they're going to this room they're taken in by this guest and there's this one man
ghassan and there's these two women and they go in and there's no mirrors or nothing in this place and i mean there's it's a room all it's got things but there's no mirrors and they have to then just be with each other and then there's the dynamics of the relationship and it's not a long story by the way but what satra ends with is hell is other people and people sometimes misunderstand that they think he's trying to say that like hating on people that's not the purpose of what he's trying to say he tries to
argue that it's the glance that devours because when they're in this place they have to they all have what they are lacking and they're trying to make up for it in the other but you see i um how um i am validated through the other what does that person think of me so in this story for example he has ghassan who's the who's the man
who had um been shot because he was a deserter he hadn't kind of gone gone to the gone to he had deserted from war he was some kind of outspoken critic and he gets shot and his whole thing is he he wants to be validated that i'm not that was i a coward and he asks one of the ladies and she tells him that no that you weren't a coward in fact you're very brave and he's kind of all this gives him peace but then the other lady says to him ines is the name of the other one she says
well she's just telling you that because she likes you she's going to obviously tell you that's not what she believes and then this guy is stuck because he he he's fighting this demon of he doesn't want to be what he fears he was which is a coward and he wants this validation but he can't get it and then even when he has an option to leave he thinks well if i leave what are these people well what is ines still thinking about me and i won't even be there to know so i need to be here to know what
she is saying and the whole short story is about the fact that we as social creatures we can't escape this meta attention of others being attentive of other people's attention and thereby validation of us and we're kind of in a web and this is why he's saying that hell doesn't have to he was trying to say well hell doesn't have to be fire and brimstones it is just other people because you're trapped in this eternal web of which is you know torturing and it's
debilitate because you can't escape it and you can't get validation and you can't get and you can't even see yourself there's no mirror except through the glance of the other so it's kind of in some ways also characterizes this essence of being aware of what the power of the glance can do it is an incredibly fascinating topic and really when we read the quran we see so many symbols of the glance and the eyes and
you know it is not the eyes that don't see but the hearts this is one of the most that even though the glances cannot encapsulate but allah encapsulates the glances and the vision and we just have an awareness or we don't or we hope to have an awareness we have a knowledge or an information that allah does that
in the hope that we can raise ourselves to the awareness allah bless us let me move on to some of your comments i'm going to share the link as well i'll copy this and share it and then just bring on some of you
insomniacs whilst i open up there you go i've sent that oh shukran much love for the super superchat ah what's this um i don't who's spamming i can't see who's spamming uh
i can't see if anybody's spamming or just block them simple as that right so let's try out some faluda a poem yeah yeah let's do a point whilst i've shared the link and
where's my right people this is is this going to oh you know i've got my other earphones here
um all right so put that on charge i did have a poem somewhere let me somebody said i've missed a few super chats okay let me quickly take a look at some super chats whilst i switch this on bluetooth switching on the devices people um where are they here it is so um
i think i may have to disconnect the bluetooth from other places you know as i have to say surprisingly this is such a common sense feature although you'll be surprised how many earphones don't accommodate for it and that is being attached to multiple devices simultaneously and many earphone products do not accommodate for being simultaneously active on two devices
so let me just check is that okay that seems to have connected here just need to do a uh audio test yep that's fine it's connected yes so you'd be surprised how many earphones don't they just they're strictly monogamous [Laughter]
let me check tonight miss a super chat um azerati shukran much love for the super sticker let me just go back to know how far back i can go in these comments just scrolling up i can't see any well okay here's one seema do you have any advice for someone struggling with willpower to perform physical rituals like salah even though they feel spiritually connected to god shukran much love for the super chat um incredibly important question what i would say is look a lot of people answer
these questions um my way of looking at this is one of it's the gateway of hope and gratitude as opposed to i know other people take the angle of fear and they try to scare you and do things like to me what i would say is look if you've been slacking on salah it happens to everyone it happens to every single person um if
you become conscious of that then and you and you think you know what like it occurs to you that oh i haven't been praying i should be that is a sign and see it as an angle for from the perspective of gratitude that i and i want to you know like i get to like not i have to but i get to and from that angle and if you let's say if you don't manage to do it then tomorrow is another day start again
whenever you can start it doesn't matter this is the distinction what i mentioned earlier that unlike people allah the relationship with god is that god never gets fed up so it doesn't work like that it doesn't mean oh whereas if it was a person you're like okay enough of you get out of here allah it's not that relationship so whenever you can you know happen um let me see what's the another super chat tony montana much love
first time seeing you live may allah bless you may you catch many more lives when did you cried the last time willing to share with us why stay blessed one know yeah i'm an emotional person i you know with with age i get more and more emotional now i you know if i watch something that's emotional i'll get all teary honestly i um
it's this age now which is i think a i think i think it's a good thing um but it does i could there's so many things i could just watch certain programs about things i could watch even these clips i see sometimes about humanity and just love and honestly really you see somebody doing something so kind like a clip it gets me really emotional and when i just bought i get
i get the awatif man the awatif so yeah it's good though i think it's a sign of um kind of um of development that a person becomes somewhat i think especially for men coming becoming more um in tune or accepting and being more vulnerable or confidently vulnerable with your own emotions is um
i think that's it's it's definitely something we should all be striving towards and it's uh i feel it's a sign of uh maturity as well so yes um right was let me just see we've got a superchat assign take was this
uh right do you have advice for someone struggling with no no i i've read that um i have to scroll all the way back down now i think there's some i've had a few people join on right okay we've got uh m azan shukran much love for the super chat mostly are you aware of petition what do you think of 1977 petition by french philosophers like sartre derrida foucault calling for abrogation of age of consent laws and part one part two
decriminalization of all consensual relations between adults and minors below the age decriminalization of all consensual relations between adults and minors below the age of 15. okay i'm not familiar with that petition um i'm not sure i fully from what i've understood from your question is you're saying that these people were part of a petition to say they should be no age of consent and
okay i've not heard of of that i know that foucault has had in his work on on sex and he's spoken about that especially about the relationship of power from the state and but i'm not familiar with this so okay if that's what they are saying then i strongly disagree with that i'm not sure if that's what they mean so is that what because i would struggle to to to assume any so maybe they did say that because i don't know so i don't want to but i would struggle to believe that any sensible
human being would say something like that so sometimes these arguments can be misconstrued sometimes i'm not saying this is but sometimes so there is something um known as as well that certain countries have where it's not about the age it's about the difference so there is a um so like they would have a statutory age but then they would have a difference between the couple so were so let's say for example it was a 15 year old boy and a 14 year old girl so some countries
would see that slightly differently to it being a 30 year old man and a 14 year old girl so they would say well because they the gap between the boy and the girl isn't that it shouldn't be treated as a kind of like a sex offender so this is how some countries have these debates so so i i'm aware of when some people have spoken of these things they're speaking about them in these or in this perspective they're not saying for example god forbid a toddler and somebody's doing i've never heard of
any that would be beyond any level of absurdity and just just like an abominable kind of monstrosity to even conceive uh something like so i've never heard of it now okay um somebody he said please google the petition okay well sure not that i'm really keen on reading that if that is the case i don't really want to read but i'll i'm sure i'll find out if that was what they said
so the letter was reproduced in i left with who lived with 63 people signed that and stated okay well i i don't know about this but i would strongly disagree with all of that and i would condemn it yes i understand that there is a a somewhat of a an agility between different states of the world and regional
legislation that that parameterizes the age of consent so some countries say 16 some may say 15 some may say 18 some may say and historically in the islamic sense there was people often went for 15 and 18 as well even prior to this modern phenomenon so when uh muslims spoke of when you can't tell when somebody's physiologically mature at what age do they gain legal capacity so most of the ulama went with eighteenth
so you see these numbers often and and 15 was also with the ottoman empire as well so you see this number and and there's some agility between that and that is um that's one topic and understanding and then there's just this whole thing which i i find even this just the topic and the discussion of incredibly uh disgusting so yeah so we you so you don't need to be discussing it anymore please right so um
l kabila shukran for uh the super chat right um uh okay nora shukran much love uh and dearly appreciate appreciate the super can we get a mind trap with imam jawad of course i would love to learn more about how he's always so calm and full of i actually spoke to uh imam jawad and i said look let's do a mind trap and we're supposed to do one actually this week um
but i wasn't feeling so well and so yeah we didn't do that but inshallah in definitely the coming uh weeks leonardo dicaprio is no one older than 25 rule it's kind of that is funny actually leonardo dicaprio turns up to all the oscars right so
all right so uh yeah that's awesome okay we've got a few people waiting let's bring on some people let's all right mind trap with jeffrey lang yep i have been trying to get in touch with uh professor dr jeffrey lang so far no luck but if any of you are in touch with him i will keep trying we've got here all right so shadaman assalamu alaikum wallace
how are you i'm good i'm good how are you good good it's been a long time just wanted to come by yeah um i appreciate it man it sounds like everything going yeah things are good things are epic awesome you know awesome blissful blissful ex same here yeah i'm just uh finishing up my last year in high school and then i'm off for university so yep wow okay more or less what are you doing what are you going to do at uni yeah for i'm planning on going into engineering i've already gotten a lot of a lot of acceptances so i'll underline
that you know yeah i'm proud of myself actually on this so yeah and then later on inshallah i'm thinking may as well like going to like um maybe theological studies for later on you know maybe become like another mufti like you you know for the new generation muslims of course i think yeah i think uh you know yeah i think the islamic stuff has a passion and always keep yourself um self-sufficient and independent financially
correct yes so it's always important to be financially independent and then the teeny stuff is more a passion yeah yeah there's like yeah there's a saying that you do your secular degrees first and then right after you do like your uh whatever studies you have as a passion but there's that yeah that's it i just i just had like one quick question for you i know i know you have you studied under the dawn right uh of like the morocco one all right so i know he has a chain that goes he's actually as you mentioned the son of the son-in-law of
him actually i actually got up you know i think i've seen one of your videos before of uh where he actually gave a book review on this book by uh so it's like it's it's actually it's actually i'm not gonna lie it's actually quite interesting um my arabic isn't the best right it's kind of broken but like i'm i'm actually able to read this so i'm actually proud of myself so what's what's the name of the popular gin again somehow
he's the biggest narrator of the jinn isn't it that was actually like um apparently witnessing the recitation of the of rasulallah reading the quran so i find that quite uh intriguing but um i just had one question what are your thoughts on like or the overall like the omadi school
until the 20th century 21st century i'd say i think the best muhammad of this era is probably i think he surpasses albany in this case but um yeah what are your thoughts on like the brothers in general yeah yeah sure i mean so the uh brothers are uh you know this is a it's a whole family romara is something which was known for scholars previously as well it wasn't something that they just kind of emerged out of nowhere but they but they are huge obviously there's uh they kind of come at a time with this other ulama as well from the uh
or they kind of nested in a backdrop of other great like the qataris of the muhammad ibn jafal qatar and all these kind of great moroccan kind of scholars and abdul hail kathani was huge he was huge um and so he has his uh i have it somewhere i think it's in three volumes all his asaneed and they are the asani that's kind of goes through obviously there is uh you know through siddhil hamadi as well into into that as well but so yeah so from the homares you've got see
the ahmad al-humari who's the eldest and he kind of has his own you know he has some innovative thoughts i like his the way that he's prepared to think out of the box he's obviously really talented with hadith um [Music] yeah and and you know you read his works like his uh i've forgotten what it's i've got i've got a few of his works but it's he has this one istadrakat
where he kind of [Music] he apprehends and amends um certain works of the or when i say works but just certain issues of the works of the mahadithin so he'll say you know be haki said this rewire was here but be haki said this is the only wire however here's another one or this person said this was never transmitted here it is transmitted this guy said uh this has been transmitted multiple no it hasn't at least but you know it's like he's kind of just doing a um like editing and not editing exactly but
it's just it's just kind of punishments right yeah it's just kind of critiquing yeah uh and more than any it's not even critiquing in a way he's just catching them out on certain shortcomings and obviously if anything quite a bit actually as a matter of fact you probably know sheikh hasan sakhoff right yes yes yes yes so i think he studied under the abdullah so yeah actually i've read like there's a book he has called emir muay for instance i know i know the hamadis are quite harsh on uh say them i know i mean i'm like yeah exactly so it's they are quite shy and clown when it comes to say them so what i found very interesting is that even
whenever the hubby tries to weaken a particular hadith or tries to weaken something that's quite slanderous see the ahmed will just like go after him and actually attack the be honest i've seen this quite a bit he does uh yeah he does attack he does like the thing is that look i think siddhi ahmed al-humadi is you know as an individual he's huge as a you know look anybody that can pull that off in a non-digital age facts it's it's it's it's amazing isn't it but then you do have this this other you have all these kind of stories and anecdotes and and not even anecdotes really you have version you know people because the roma
is what it is they all kind of unleashed on one another not all not just rivalry like i mean they've whipped each other to shreds like so you know you're going to have i see the abdullah ramadi you're going to have obviously i mean you got to see the ahmad but then you've got siri abdullah you love abdelaziz and they are ripping each other's works to pieces calling each other ignorant calling each and they are exposing one another like so if you read um the exposes of each other they this is where you find the kind of gossip so to speak because obviously who else is going to tell you so
when i forgotten which one is exposing um see the action it's probably see the abdullah i think yeah yeah right yeah and so what he'll do is he will say right i've got ijaza and then he'll say to his wife and he goes i don't know in the book they say his wife isn't can barely read and write and literally says to her yeah he says to her look listen i'm giving you jazza okay just say yes so she says yes he says okay now do you give it back to me so it says yes so then he puts her as like with this highness up this kind of like
a big fiber name yeah like this big tribal woman who also gave me ejazza in hadith so it's kind of beefing up his cv and i guess in many ways that's one could argue that's a bit like today people doing things with social media you know to kind of beef up their profile and to kind of gain more views and do click bait and in some ways one could argue that's kind of translates to a it's a different mech mechanism but it's you know the the result that the person wants is that kind of uh pompous kind of a grandiose uh amplification of themselves
so yeah but yeah i mean obviously they they are huge uh i know cersei was once asked he in fact he's got his you know he's asked about uh is it true that he knew all of bukhari by heart and is it true he knew a lot and he says of course this is of course not hilarious but it is i think look they were uh you know they would they they were phenomenal but it shouldn't detract just because somebody says something funny about them or they find something funny it doesn't mean that they were
ignorant or nobodies they were obviously clearly somebody of of some great significance that's why they managed to make all the noise that they did yeah and yeah and as a matter of fact i think it was uh siddhi abdullah uh rahman lawrie i think he was a student of shiv zaidal kothi you know the dawn of the hanafi she is someone i have like a lot of respect for like he is his personality overall i love him so i know like even abdullah humanity like he has any jazz from uh zydel kothri but then later on like once i think uh shizada kothi passes away abdullah rumadi writes a book just on attacking uh she decided that coffee yeah i've
sort of i've seen that quite a bit yeah yeah they properly used didn't used to like each other the the homages because very hardline hanafi he was he defended in fact i think he if i'm not wrong it is when he refuses this is where i first i'm pretty sure that's where i first read um unless i'm mistaken but that's where i've read through
zahidil ko3 first exposing ibn hajjar saying even was you know he's kind of how he was and stuff like this with women and but that's many years ago when i was a student yeah yeah because he attacks him as well for attacking the hanafees so yeah but it's fun and games funny you know these things i think you know what people look they were all in their own right academic scholars you know they were all kind of people who dedicated a lifetime to learning and doesn't matter what flavor they took in the end and sometimes they did this
you know when a person does this they get embroiled themselves in that dynamic it's okay you know you might take sides and they they're kind of doing it for that reason they're having a match so when you know if you're watching a boxing match you're gonna be with one side versus the other so they're doing it with that intention and so you can get embroiled in and you know you can get all parties on but i think in the end at the end of the day you just have to kind of fl like realize that look they're all people who dedicated a lifetime to studying and even if they got passion and this passion is good you know it's good so yeah
young as you can see rising star people allahu akbar who have we got here this guy over here i'll just give him a peanut butter sandwich but he won't have it how's everything how are you doing things are goodly like haven't the lobby praised one things are good things are good your family your children yeah
alhamdulillah all good all good people you know blissful and blissful yeah well any thoughts any questions something you'd like to share with us uh any thoughts um i was going through this is more of a i guess since the psychology in the psychology realm of things and um i was kind of reflecting on antidepressants a little bit and um you know kind of just looking at the studies about how for people who are dealing with any type of depression of course other mental uh you know struggles as well and um
i feel like when they think about antidepressants by the way they feel sort of like no i shouldn't like i i shouldn't do that right in a sense or i shouldn't take as in i shouldn't take until yeah like i shouldn't take it about the vine without it and i feel like it's a it's a double-edged sword because sometimes if you get yourself to a stage where you need it and just to give yourself a fighting chance but i guess the thoughts where i was going with it was for people that do take antidepressants i feel like the studies have obviously shown
that they need to be partnered up with therapy um and i was i guess what i was reflecting on is why right why um and and this sort of image was playing in my head where i was thinking of our emotions like naturally if we get a headache we take medication for a headache a tylenol whatever we take and basically to stop the signal but the headache exists right so then i i thought okay well if we're taking antidepressants for a person who's depressed he feels an emotion that brings him sadness
however that sadness emotion is now muted by the antidepressant so this person doesn't actually know that they are now sad because their emotion is muted so then let's say this emotion now is in a room right yeah this emotion is in a room the longer your antidepressants that room starts filling up and naturally they will increase dosages eventually you reach the high level you don't have to switch over and we've seen a lot of unfortunate suicide rates go up between people switching medication
um they feel so muted that they feel like i don't even feel happiness or sadness i'd rather feel something because just at one point you're just walking and you're not feeling any emotion so then they get out the here's here's why i'm like reflecting on this i'm trying to understand why people get off medication and they have i'm sure you've seen the stories of people unfortunately committing suicide or doing harm to themselves at the stage of their got off medication so i'm sitting here thinking i wonder if by muting the emotions the sadness goes
into a room and then you're off that medication that room just bursts out and you have just a room filled with just depressive emotions shooting out all at once so now i'm sitting there thinking okay so maybe that is why we have to still do a form of therapy a form of treatment so for the people who struggle and the people who are on any type of antidepressant that kind of amused emotions you know somehow having that cognition somehow still thinking about you know i still need to go take a walk go experience nature
because you have to open that door that you don't know exists yes and it's very similar to when we feel angry right i'm sorry this is my last thought because i would love to hear your thoughts if angry they say you know go for a walk if you're sit stand if you're standing i mean just kind of switch things up a little bit yeah because you need to release that emotion by having depressive emotion not being taken care of and the medication is there to kind of give you a fighting chance but it's not the solution so it's one of those things like could these are just my thoughts i'm just kidding that's where my mom i get it i get it i could no absolutely
i mean you see so here here's my thoughts on this sure you see psychiatry the problem with psychiatry is it's not curative okay it's not so so for example let's um you somebody's got an infection and now you take some antibiotics and it kills the infection and it boosts your you know boosts your immune system allows you to kind of and you get better you it's you you're
actually kind of cured from the infection you had right in psychiatry that doesn't the brain doesn't operate in that same way we're not actually psychiatry isn't actually as advanced as the rest of biological kind of um chemistry that we're aware of is so what they do is it's like they fill kind of gaps so to speak okay so it's like an artificial supply of something or whether you're going to so let's say somebody's got depression obviously i'm not even talking about antipsychotics and stuff
but even depression which you spoke of which many people maybe a may fall victim to now whether they're going to give you this diverse methods but let's say they're going to give ssris or different things they do work they work but they're not curative because they're not actually curing the problem but they are kind of just big it's kind of like a plaster or like a band-aid of course so which is just kind of stopping it from just pouring out so you let's say a
person's serotonin levels are not as high so what they're doing is allowing them to take greater advantage of the supply that they have by using these things now okay that's fine let's say a person needs that because if they're not going to have that then they may be absolutely debilitated and life may be totally unbearable and maybe they're going to do something terrible so okay we understand that but what are the the natural or the actual are there any curative steps to actually help strengthen this person's actual
organic system so can they themselves do something so when you said things like take a walk or do these things these things naturally do boost your own uh your own kind of systems that you've got within they improve your overall health they lift your mood even therapy therapy does that so even talking with people and another thing i don't i tell you what i uh don't like this is me now and i could this is my personal perspective is this curative side you see psychiatry and even and this by extension is greater than psychiatry now
this is the whole kind of pharmacology um you see it has it is so built on and and it does a wonderful job in so many things i'm not knocking of course but it's so built on but it's so built on chemicals that they refuse to even factor in other natural things so they the the doctors will just not say it because it's not part of the amount so for example tryptophan it's an amino acid that um it will be converted by the one it will be converted carried into the brain and then used either for
uh serotonin or it could be converted to other trans neurotransmitters if they're lacking tryptophan i know people could take 5htp for example i'm not recommending that because that just crosses immediately the blood-brain barrier and it will get converted to serotonin but the problem is that you could kind of cause an imbalance whereas you take an amino acid like tryptophan which is in things like milk as well but you can buy the amino acid this is a natural amino acid people have it in products people can buy as a supplement now it would uh it would aid your mood because it's a
natural thing that because tryptophan is eventually converted which is then converted into serotonin now i'm not saying this is a solution but this is one ingredient amongst many ingredients it could be it could be like i i would take tryptophan i mean i don't always take it but i do take it so you see now this the pharmaceutical or the pharmacological kind of industry so to speak would not take this route at all because it doesn't think according to these usual like it's usual is more about hmm uh what chemical
and what kind of drugs in the uh pharmaceutical drugs of course of course so so for example they wouldn't and i'm not saying this is the answer but i'll give you an example so let's say i was once speaking to a friend of mine a doctor talking about something and i said well um what about let's just say a certain thing this is not about the brain now i'm talking about just general health and i said well what about things like let's say zinc and vitamin c and these things and if you're to boost the immune system the person would and and the doctor said well no because why would you give vitamin c if they don't have vitamin c deficiency
or a zinc deficiency you see now that's a different or soul by which you're thinking like it's been so institutionalized that you only think in deficiencies whereas really there's so many things that could boost a person's their own immune system right then obviously i'm not talking about ridiculous kind of measures there's a methodology by which you see when a person goes through so much institutionalization they have to think well and even if doctors don't think like that they would have to think like that because they can't prescribe things
that are out of the box otherwise they're getting they'd get into trouble themselves so and the problem with psychiatry is it's worse than the rest of the whole medical kind of faculty it's like when i say worst least developed because we just because the brain is just incredibly complex that they haven't right they haven't actually produced so much like if you think about it i went to a lecture um a few years back where the professor was speaking and he was contrasting branches like oncology with psychiatry and they were saying well you know let's say in the 1950s a person had cancer
they were pretty much dead and a person has cancer now they have a very good chance of well let's say even 60s and a very good chance of survival depending on what cancer is of course but now he said but you could take something like schizophrenia you could take something like you know now what they call dissociative identity disorder you could take something like bipolar or you could take something like this there's still really nothing that i mean all you do is you know you might give a person a certain amount of volume or a certain amount of something and you're kind of just sedating them and you're kind of certain
antipsychotics that suppress certain modalities within the brain i guess that's where i was going you know i feel like it was not actually solving right so i feel like there's so many people in this field that i'm coming across that are on a type or a form of antidepressant but they're not in actively engaged in therapy and that's a that's a very big problem in this world in this field because it's it's it's one of those things where someone's taking creatine hoping to build muscle uh but not going to the gym it's one of those things where okay so you did
something but there's a significant step missing and i feel like by taking an antidepressant you are taking a step see i'm not trying to downplay it you're absolutely taking a step but the dangers of muting an emotion but the emotion is still happening within you it's just going into a closet and you didn't even know that closet existed you think you're not even feeling a depressive emotion however you are and it's inside you and the moment you're off these antidepressants these will shoot out all at once i i have known people who have been on antidepressants and when they came off
them and they were um they were fine and they did manage to you know their life is on track from what i'm aware of that's so i'm sorry you see uh i i'm not so sure i don't because because i have not followed their lives that closely okay but i you see but i am as a person i'm very scared of things like antidepressants and uh and i'm not trying to say that these things are not helpful i think they are and wherever if it helps someone and that it will
make a difference then alhamdulillah but i would always advocate that if they are going to take it then like you're saying i would always advocate that the human side because we have within us certain mechanisms that will kind of so to speak reboot themselves we will you know like you said like nature like you said go for a walk uh it sounds so cliche but like somebody could say well wake up but it makes it makes a huge difference going for walks is an immensely therapeutic uh process you know just in the company of friends
laughter i mean there's things that you see what and this is what i meant when i was saying earlier on it's not that some things in it's not that modern science doesn't recognize this it does recognize that look so for example laughter you know it boosts endorphins and in kefalens and it boosts these kind of things and you have a greater kind of you're more healthier you have a healthier immune system you kind of it's not that it doesn't recognize this but in the kind of mass industrialized world that we live in it's kind of very cold
polite but cold and it's kind of a machinery it's kind of just mass it's produced so it doesn't really have time for this kind of talk about like oh well you know you should laugh more often or you should it's not like to them it's about you take this pill three times a day take it after this now off you go i've only got 10 minutes now i've got to talk to the next patient now it's right this is how this is how it's this is how it is it becomes these kind of battery farms it becomes like like just a transaction have you heard of um i believe
i believe he's in australia i'm not sure uh but his name is dr uh yapko uh michael yapko and he um oh yes yes it's on depression on depression and yes i shared a clip of his once on instagram you did and you introduced me to him that's right i was like i was wondering why i know him of course there was a link so i went ahead and actually did you end up watching that whole lecture or did you catch i did i did no i i shared a small snippet because i could only share a small snippet but i loved his lecture right and that and so i'm going through his book now on the steps of coming out of depression and it's incredible because kind of what i'm
gathering is that if you're not dealing with with a major depressive state and what i mean is like um many of us will deal with um environmental depression or a seasonal depression or maybe different types of moments where we're having a little if the only time someone should consider seriously consider i mean this according to him um medication is if you are in a in a stage where suicidal thoughts are existing in your life if you're not dealing with that level of depression then you have you should feel very incur like you should feel
motivated that you can absolutely get out of it without having to you know i mean yeah i mean i would yeah i you see what i okay so here's how this is where i'm at i'm not so much about and i'm sure you're exactly you're very same but i'm just putting it out there i'm not so much about telling people what to do of course i think so it's to me i wouldn't do that and i would say especially on these issues of mental health but i would tell me like so there's a standard i hold for me
that i don't it's i i just don't get involved with it with other people unless they were very close friends and they were asking my personal kind my standard for me is that you you have to always will yourself out of these things and i and i personally believe that as this is for me that as human beings we have a willpower that you cannot give up that it does not there is it is not an option that you see the mind is the ultimate kind of frontier that if you lose it you lose everything right i know so i'm with you i'm definitely not speaking for people i guess i was i was
hoping to be an encouragement no i no i know no you are but i was just clarifying just in case because people are listening but this is for me as a person and i'm sure you're doing saying it in the same way now i get it some people may say that look they are not in that fortunate position to have that willpower and to have and this is why for them whatever works do it follow the local kind of medical advice and do all of that but i in addition to that i feel it's incredibly important the things we were saying the human elements the things
like just which which is therapy like just talking to people talking nature these small things having that kind of um just having that internal fight that yeah i think in this world and currently we have to ask ourselves a very simple question in is how do i very like individually have fun and do it it's very funny because sometimes we get caught up not having fun anymore and in a sense where uh for the extrovert they'll be around friends for the introvert they'll be
bird watching i never understood bird watchers until i realized that they're probably introverts but um and and and the biggest in it for them otherwise why did they do it they must right you know and that's the as i grew up i felt like i finally understood the beauty in it um and and one of the biggest things in his book in his lectures that you i want to share and i know you want to cross it i just want i i do want to share this is is that like for example we know everyone back home for the people who have people in in central asia or other parts of the world that are struggling me for example my family in afghanistan may allah make it easier on on everyone who's struggling
that when we speak to them we don't get this energy of depression from them so so this so so dr yapko was arguing that when people start talking about well i'm like why are you depressed and they say well let me tell you what happened to me that in most cases he obviously didn't say all but in majority of the cases it's not what happened to us it's what we attribute to what happened how we what how are we the meaning the meaning that we what meaning are we giving that event for us to interpret it to be what it is so for example and then the example was
very clear you have two people who both had suffered maybe a sudden death in their family one person is depressed one person isn't or maybe that's sadly there's so much so much worse traumas out there but take the worst trauma compare them someone is depressed someone isn't well why isn't this person depressed if that is the reason why you're depressed and the argument is well how did you attribute what what meaning did you give that life event and dissecting that because they show that genetic factors i think he shows in his in his lecture he shares i think did he say less than one percent or something he just it was a very very very
1.04 or something he says percent of were genetic factors which i was really shocked at the time i thought oh okay the number was it was was shockingly low almost like i don't believe it low yeah so and another book that opened my mind on this was really uh viktor frankl's man's search for meaning because really you know when he that is a book that i really encourage people that if you especially if you're if you're going through any kind of like depression or if you know somebody who is it's not a difficult book it's not a big book viktor frankl's a man searched for
meaning because he was a psychologist who was also caught up in the nazi concentration camps he then he survives the camps and he kind of treats people and he and the book isn't about his even though he does give make references to the concentration camps but it's not like a diary i mean it is in some way he's going through incidents but it's not it's like it's it's written it's well written it's not like trying to say on this day this happened this happened this time he's trying to show you that what may what gives people the will to live and why are they and this is you know a point i wanted to say when you were
saying that when you mentioned afghanistan and other places and pakistan and india and just other poverty-stricken parts of the world that don't have the luxury of the narrative of depression now you see because the luxury of the narrative because here in this part of the world what i what does freak me out sometimes and i'm more my concern is for younger people who are growing up around this is that there is this narrative
a psychosocial narrative in society which and i'm and it is true it is a reality as well there is depression i'm not denying that but because this exists as a label so people throw the towel in because they think well oh well you know it's well oh i've got depression so you know just excuse me because i i've got this it's like as if for example i've got diabetes now they're saying well you know i've got this so it's a lifelong condition and mind you people depending on diabetic stage as well they can kind of combat inc if they change the lifestyles and stuff but
this this kind of label i think even though the the media behind these labels is noble like it's to kind of safeguard people so somebody's dyslexic for example well this is a a label to help so people could say oh well this person is dyslexic but what happens sometimes it kind of clips our wings because we think oh well ah well you know i have this narrative i can't climb out of this you know they say there's a i mean it's a myth but it's it's well quoted within the business world that they'll say that you know if you get a shark and put it
in a tank it'll only grow to eight inches and if you put in the ocean it'll grow to eight feet that it's it kind of doesn't outgrow its environment it's kind of own so the point is that if you if these people have this that oh i'm you know what it is i oh i but this is how i am the thing the thing with that is is that i i i'm with you side by side the the society today i feel and i always say this to to the people i speak with have romanticized depression they have romanticized these terms by sort of oh i'm just depressed or sort of giving it a different flavor where
i feel like depression is very similar to a physical injury of like well i can't come and walk to you right now because i have a broken leg not i have a scratch in my leg or you know my my mind is you see because i'm not doing this to and i know you ain't either but if i'm not doing this i'm not saying this kind of this structure is to downplay the phenomenon but what i'm saying is okay so let me give this example just so the viewers it makes sense to them something happens in let's say here or where what city are you what state are you again l.a
l.a right so a la city of the angels so the so let's say in l.a something happens here in the uk something's happening the general public i'm not talking about the the minority tiny muslim population general public wouldn't say something happened to somebody oh that was the evil eye or they won't say for example that was ajin that's causing this because they don't have that narrative to resort to they and they and they generally that's not how they see the world so the just as an example or let's let's change that right because the the the gym thing well people would say well
okay we but muslims will say they believe indian possession or they believe in you let's say superstition okay so somebody had a car accident today and you say well you know the reason that happened is because um you must a black cat must have crossed the street before you or you must have walked under a ladder or you know today was the 13th of a month now imagine in a society where people all accepted these things like this was quite communal common kind of like like i believe it would be very like you couldn't it's not what i'm trying to say is even the tragedy is real whatever happens but
people assign to it these things if with depression the tragedy maybe it is real it is real obviously it varies for some people it's worse than others but if they didn't have like if you put that same person in a different environment where this psychosocial this luxury narrative didn't exist that totally excused them what would happen is the person would think right something's wrong they would think something's wrong because
i don't feel right right now they're going to think well i need to fix it and i get the fact that you know you may need medication you may need therapy you may need this but it's not a label for life it's not like a condition it's not an identity like in saying well you know oh you are this person that you know you are clean oh a hundred percent not not and absolutely i think it does we're not complaining in a lot of these in these in many of these societies it does become an identity well i'm just you know depressed or i'm
just uh many of these conditions i don't mean the full on stronger side of mental health with actual psychotic uh you know illnesses i mean on this side the lower end of depression or people having even some some of these other kind of mild learning difficulties that people have some so there was a study in the uk several years back when i was doing my psychology degree where they took a bunch of children that had dyslexia and they worked immensely with them for i think six months and by the end of the six months they no longer had dyslexia now this caused a
huge hoo-ha and the dyslexia i forgot what it was called the dyslexia society in the uk it kicked up a huge fuss and i think it wanted the program taken down it was several years back because they said that this is obviously uh apart from an affront and an offensive and uh but but it questions a lot of things because look there's a lot of funding that depends on stuff like this as well because you can't because if if you're saying now well according to this study that they did well actually you can cure it then well then there shouldn't be a lifelong set of funding that's allocated for so many people and so many like i'm
not saying the program wasn't saying that but it gives rise to other questions as well because there's always power there's always money involved as well that so it's interesting that if there was a certain amount of effort given and dedication and i get it that not everybody would get that but if there was let's say could a person emerge out of this condition whatever it is like in that program it was dyslexia or whether it's depression or whether it's and that's to me the more important question as a person i feel yeah right and i i the thing is
i'm with you we're definitely downplaying it however i do feel like because society has romanticized it and has sort of made it an everyday term society has actually downplayed it so for people who actually do have this this actual very good you know they have this actual depression they find themselves in the back burner because now it's like if if they it's one of those things where like before they were already reluctant to even express this this feeling of depression but now we're going to add this society is pulling the card of depression left and right
now it down like that they find themselves kind of further away from actually trying to find a solution i guess the biggest thing i want to think about what it does i think what it does if not to i hope not to misconstrue if anybody's listening is not to but it's like i heard a doctor say who was actually working with mental health he and he was saying that he worked with so many people who so desperately need all the help in the world that can be given to them and they resources are so restricted because they can only see this child let's say once a month
and really the child but they've got all these other slots taken up by some you know by some kid who's just you know he's got too many video games to play and so now he's just sad because he's crippled by the power you know what the abundance of choice and he's just like so what you're saying exactly that doctor had said to me that you know because of so many of these what they see and they can't say they said they can't say it because obviously imagine or yeah but they said that these are not you know these are just trivial cases
they're taking up space for real cases where there's actual serious uh mental health that needs dedication but all these slots are just going to just people who see the fact that people even talk about depression as in like well just kind of uh what why do you want to be sad or why do you it's one of those things that's what society has unfortunately done because so many people have unfortunately carried the torch of depression that shouldn't be holding the torch in the first place and then there's so many actual people with depression who are like no no i don't want to feel like this and sometimes i think of it like when we
wake up in the morning it is very honestly it's very difficult even thinking there was a um because it's the you see because people it's this thing of like you this inability to snap out and just being stuck in this there was a movie what was it called actually it was actually that was a very dramatic kind of i i don't think i watched it i think i just watched a small amount of it years back was it called something like the gobbledygook or something but it's this lady who's going through this immense kind of and it kind of appears as though it's kind of like horrific and
stuff but but yeah may allah honestly make it easy for people because i think in many ways as well i i saw this meme today which said parents saying that i do all this hard work so my kids can have it easy and then it said kids then have it easy and the parents are like what the hell is wrong with you
because it's true because we don't know it's scary honestly like that that was your little one wasn't it yeah feeding the sandwich too you know it's scary because you think to yourself that damn you know in many ways because maybe we had it tough it gave us a certain resilience and and i hope and i pray that you know the younger generation have it i mean but it's sometimes scary just seeing because on the same hand you don't want them to go through any difficulty damned if you do damn if you don't it's scary man honestly you know it's like waking up
for a person and we're at the state of zero for emotional and then we wake up and we'll do something we'll have a cup of coffee and we're improving our mood depressed people wake up with a negative 10 and they fight just to get to the zero and they get to the zero and they didn't have laughter that day so it's such a different for a person who wakes up at a stage of zero will never quite understand what negative 10 feels like on a daily basis and just to fight that day to get to zero and some many times you don't you end up at negative six you end up at negative three only to wake up the next day at negative 10 again and that's the struggle
i don't know yeah anyway so i we went on i'm so sorry no man it's been it's been good speaking to you it's been a while we got to catch up so drop me a message i'm almost done coaching my season we went undefeated alhamdulillah okay it's my first season coaching girls and it was the greatest worst decision i've ever made honestly i learned a lot this season but season's almost done we'll be talking soon inshallah cool man take care man thank you speak sound much love people all the way is all the way from l.a the city of the
angels right we got a real shootout has gone on for quite a while uh you know what we've got one person pizza guy manager pizza guy manager should we take what's clear saying all right just take a quick uh it's ridiculous in the uk kids miss out getting into the right schools less struggling in life so true clear may allah make it easy um that is so true um right mufti love from kashmir right back at you much love may allah bless you um right uh we had mark allama lanzata saying man my
dyslexia was so bad i would mix up who and so much took a few decades when i figured it out you see see that's a legend right there i knew it you would you'd figure it out no may allah make it easy i hope just uh just a quick word and then i'll bring on pizza guy manager and then we'll wrap it up i just want to say just to be very clear look uh i first of all my thoughts my doors with anybody and everybody that is going through any kind of difficulty like that and not to misunderstand or misconstrue my words um or the words of allah
this was not it was just thoughts on saying that not to downplay or to ignore the the kind of nature side of things they are really therapeutic they are really healing in and of themselves human contact contact with nature healthy dieting these things on their own may not do it for people they may need medical support as well but in addition to that you can kind of cushion it a kind of marriage of the both and yeah and that that inshallah could also help to cure uh people in their difficulties but our
thoughts and ours go out right we've got pizza guy manager okay assalamu alaikum where are you calling from yeah we're all hungry now all of a sudden yeah man i'm hungry too i am at i'm in my lab right now oh wow okay
thought do you have any thoughts or a question or a statement you'd like to share with us sorry what what's it what was your name sorry oh my name is um i was calling you pizza guy yeah yep we've got that pizza guy yeah no no my name is jamal jamal you do and it's such amal clara
all the caribbean like colonial spanish caribbean like just that admixture and then oh yeah florida's capitalism and it's just yeah it's crazy here florida is is the place man you guys have got all the i've just got to watch tv series and practice yeah like no it's nothing like that it's nothing like that people are relaxed no not yet mashallah so yeah all right so talk to us what was that science lab is is that what your research is yeah i'm doing research in entomology so like study of insects
oh wow okay yeah anything interesting going on there in that world apart from eating them is not good no eating them is great i heard that oh wow i heard that but i think eating them is great okay wow there you go people from hey do not practice that at home [Laughter] right so no but i don't think that was the intention because i actually talked about it with a scholar but anyways that was a long time ago so okay yeah cool any other thoughts otherwise what's going on with this over here i'm
working on um an idea uh to apply nanotechnology to essential oils to um to to communicate with insects instead of um killing them with pesticides oh wow wow that's huge man wow i'm really impressed yeah man i i hope it gets off the ground but we'll see yes yes cool well i wanted to say um i wanted to say real quick about the last conversation you had okay yeah sure go for it okay your
thoughts yeah i think i think you're rightfully said that you know we gotta we got to value people who think outside of the box because there's sort of been this capture uh by the pharmaceutical industry of public opinion and like how we go about solving these issues but at the same time like you said when you're kind of pushing back you know people that have gone off antidepressants and they haven't like derailed and i think i think that's an important nuance because you know there's um have you heard of the default mode network in the brain default mode network yeah right okay
so it's kind of like a network it's kind of like different nodes of the brain kind of interlinked and it emerges from from those interlinking of nodes there merges this network called the default mode network and it's primarily responsible for self-referential thinking so when people get caught into like thinking loops um okay their default mode network can get um stuck basically in a positive feedback loop and it just keeps going and going and going and going and you just keep on thinking about whatever you're ruminating on and it's uh it's one of the significant factors symptoms of depression
sure like negative ruminations just being stuck you know right yeah exactly so you know sometimes medication like the previous person said can be a step and sometimes i think it can be a significant step because yeah you know you might be putting you don't know what uh long-term damage from depression we don't really know what the long-term damage of depression can be because of neuroplasticity like we can be rewiring our brains for negative thought patterns but in the same way you know the the medicine might give you a chance to rewire in a positive direction but you do have to you do have to do your part
and like they say like you know exercises has the same statistical significance of some of these old school um any presence that that we have and like you said you know there's psilocybin based therapy that's coming up yeah because that you know that's that's another thing that you see this this you know the pharmaceutical kind of industries haven't really i know now they you see this this is my point that the the change in direction because nature has given so many things like let's say you say psilocybin in mushrooms now this is
nature's cure to things like depression and and much more but yet politics here would not allow it until big pharma hasn't kind of stepped in and said well you know well we're going to make a lot of money out of this and then following that legislation is kind of swaying so it's not swaying because of the general interest and the heartfelt kind of sincerity it's just swaying because now you know these huge conglomerates have said well you know we want to capitalize on this and make a bit of money so all of a sudden the legislation's kind of easing up
whereas really the the research has shown for so long that psilocybin would kill people so all these people these years going through these kind of ridiculous kind of measures not finding help and the help was there but you know they won't ease up on the legislation and they won't even allow people to do research it's like what kind of where's the scientist where's the science in that you won't even it's called agency of capture agency capture it's when for example like our fda our food and drug administration is captured this entire agency this entire um final voice authoritative voice in what
is beneficial and helpful has been totally captured by the industry and so it leaves it leaves the burden unduly on people like you to who are going to spread the message of potential outside of the box theories right for us to kind of like crowd source better knowledge because it's it's true that's well said you know crowdsourcing knowledge because it's it's it's so fascinating to just read up on a lot of this you know it's amazing that a lot of people today when they think of these kind of sacred medicines like dmt or um let's say mushrooms especially we've all heard of mushrooms since we're kids magic mushrooms
they think many people will associate them with drugs drugs like recreational drugs and how they've been so swayed by politics which global politics which was swayed by nixon and it's interesting that nixon's war on drugs has had such far-fetching impact that if that people today who haven't even heard of nixon they wouldn't really care anything about him and they would not join these dots they in fact they probably think these thoughts are absurd but this is how it just goes back it goes back to this kind of
campaign for whatever his own political motives this blanket kind of statement and i i the detail people can bring research the details the courts hadn't even passed the kind of judgment he had just ruled a lot of these drugs as in the same category as just completely prescribed you know it's like it's like the propaganda that was out for marijuana you know in the turn of the century it's um it was actually the timber industry the wood industry that made money on cutting down trees that launched this propaganda campaign against marijuana because they were fearful of the hemp phenotype
being prolific throughout the united states providing a dominant source of fiber to the industry so the timber industry actually created this panic amongst these innocent um white women in the suburbs of all this crazy mexican weed coming to um destroy their daughters and make them more sexually promiscuous with black men so this is incredibly and that that the whole motivation was the timber industry like wow and okay yeah so it's just it goes to show that like so much of culture can be influenced and
hijacked yeah um yeah it's it's so true man so true and i yeah i think yeah it's uh by the way by the way by the way i am uh smoking some really high quality um pakistani chitral kush grown in florida grown in florida this is indica oh yeah medical marijuana oh bro the highest quality man you know we got it you know [Laughter] okay people i'm not encouraging those of you that are watching this to go and do that do not i i do not advocate smoking
no indica doesn't that just doesn't that just i think there is some research out there tony if your brain is still developing you should reconsider smoking marijuana so i just want to put that out there i don't know if it's conclusive but yeah i've said that in my videos i've said that i believe it would be haram for people uh who's still going through neuroplasticity to because the danger i think it's it's probably irreversible allahu alam but i
i just think it's got to be very dangerous so uh brain is very plastic yeah yeah but especially i think if people are doing it when they're younger and because the neuroplasticities last till about 25 it's still kind of growing so if people maybe what's happening to the synaptic kind of you know what's happening to the synapse is how how are things being damaged i just feel that the risk seems so high and you see and you know we spoke about depression you see a lot of younger people i know depression is much higher it seems much
higher in younger people as does i feel there's a correlation with things like uh you know what is it cannabis consumption or marijuana consumption as well so yeah and then there's all the whole schizophrenic predisposition um thing so i actually have a working theory on processing cannabis based metabolites because actually the essential oils that i'm uh fracturing into encapsulations are cannabis so i'm i'm trying to use cannabis to talk to insects but um okay yeah drug insects
no no i'm really not trying to drug them we actually kill them right now we still repurpose chemicals from from world war ii to to make sure pests don't eat our food and where we there's not a square meter on this entire globe that does not have residual pesticide um droplets so this is important that we look for new solutions for getting insects off of our food wow well you know what uh all right okay real quick okay
real quick let's see let's see i'll land again i'll end the plane i'll end the plan go for it we're talking about um uh you should you should come out to florida this time but yeah we were talking about oh okay amen oh we had a beautiful clear sky sunny 70 degree day today and i think we might be out of winter but um um but i wanted to talk to you about this you talked about the glance you talked about the glance today the glance the glass yeah yeah yeah so
my question is do you think that supports an occasionalist view of reality this idea that fundamentally we are constantly being sustained by this glance right uh i don't okay so because i guess we are in the glance of god so to speak you know like a lot watches over us i'm not trying to say in the idealistic i'm not i mean i'm not for or against the idealistic kind of
argument of well you know there's just ideals and things only exist so long as we observe them i'm not saying that like so when i was speaking of the glance i was kind of saying that well we operate at a level of consciousness and awareness but the moment we become aware of somebody aware of us we kind of have a heightened sense of awareness so because we are now not only the subjects of our subjective experience but we become aware that we are also objects being watched understanding this recursive effect yet like exactly exactly this kind of
reflexive meta kind of uh attention that is taking place where we're attentive of someone being attentive of us so yeah so that that's what i was so i know you've got like george barkley and the whole in idealism well well if if i'm not observing it it's not even there and or what's to say it's even there and then well his kind of ultimate argument is well the world only is there because well god is observing it i'm not i wasn't kind of engaging that discussion i was just trying to say that we
if it fluctuates it becomes heightened it changes the moment and at and at a fundamental level we we change or we change or we can change reality as it emerges from its potential in the quantum field we can impact it at least so the the whole kind of interference double slit example when we become conscious of it it it kind of manifests slightly differently it's still manifest but differently and so i was just saying the power of the glance right down to social media where
how we become you see like somebody may say i you know they have a social media profile and they are the creators of their profile and that in essence they the control is meant to you know this is meant to be the locus of control but really what we start to see is that starts to control them and it's by people casting their glance on it that the more they they are being viewed by people it changes them they become kind of answerable almost to the profile and i think it's just there's just so many
interesting things there that's what i was saying but yeah yeah i think we better wrap this up it's been good it's been good jamal shukran children uh muchas gracias as well and if i do have a flyover i'll tell florida you should be great we should go to puerto rico let's go to guadalajara and then let's go back to spain and then you can show me uk right yep i'm sure the weather would just be like from you're talking about from florida right down to the uk and you're like what the hell is going on here no i've been in the uk before it's beautiful it's beautiful oh you have
