catchup and you've been on uh you know yeah no we we did have a c no we did have a catchup in January you know when um that sheia um scholar was um um Dr was it yes I yes you're right we yes of course we met at shaan you were there and and I I I walked away I had to let I
had to go early and um uh I regretted leaving early but the thing is wow because you know I I picked his brains and that one answer to me um uh gave me so much information it was uh amazing wow I'll tell you what the question was yeah um because I didn't know this uh I ended up uh teaching uh an Ashi South
Korean the r of abani for a short period of time teing a South Korean Muslim no an an oh South Korean wow I didn't realize Islam's reach there let alone sh Islam and the thing is I had uh um again anybody that wants to learn I don't care about that background of course of course of course because it's a learning curve I'm I'm learning that's one of my reasons for teaching is that you know you're learning and
what I learned from him was that I had not uh um you know my reading you know um history is uh not you know uh expansive but you know it's a fair bit and um he told me something that I had not not come across which was that um you know thei the Shia um major the Shia major work of um narrations um uh the author um Sheik
kaini um he wrote the work when their Imam their their their 12th Imam was in his minor occultation okay so he he he disappeared for the the first the first dis yeah the the first disappearance so there was still physical contact uh with him through his you know um uh agents which would be you know in our uh Sunni methodology would be
because you know for the Asar their Imam uh and their companions are on par with the rasool and the assab authority wise okay the on par with the obviously the asab so the asab are not going to so they Al is going to be above theab but above the prophets as well did you on par with the prophets no you've I'm talking about Authority wise not you know their status you know okay not the status right the authority so the authority of the Imam is equivalent to
the rasool and his Co his students are you know on par with the sahaba okay do you understand because it's as in each so as in each Imam it's as if like what he narrates is is is tent amount or equates to a Hadith almost of the Prophet no to them it is Hadith to them okay I see to them and the narrator is as how we would see the sahaba transmitting that okay yeah I'm with you again okay you you you need to understand this before otherwise it doesn't make sense what I walked away
with cuz sure uh this South Korean um student of mine he told me that kaini did not narrate from any of the compan you know the assab of yeah you know the Agents of uh the hidden Imam yeah the 12th IM this is the yeah the 12th IM man and this is the minor you know the minor occultation so uh
I I I asked um Dr hullah is this true and he said yes okay so he accepted that no he says that's and I said why why didn't he says according to him they were not you know um uh you know uh or reliable reliable to take from now to me for uh a Shia to accept that and vice that to me that it's it's like you know a Sunni saying we're not going to
take from theab because they're not reliable wow do do you understand yeah no I see I see the because I walked into that discussion it was it had already started when I got there you guys were had already got into that discussion no because because the thing is that uh what Dr hullah did was um because you know um within my living memory uh the Shia uh Hadith renesance you know um uh
H H has occurred because you know um you know the Contemporary of um but he was more knowledgeable than started it's uh you can say a school of uh um you know J okay uh and he and he has a four volume work where he lays down his standards okay
and um uh yeah his F his F he has a big foundation in London okay really big um but his students then applied that methodology so umy afani um uh Dr mean Asif um Asif um uh M AF he he's still alive he went through you know the Corpus uh of um
Shia Hadith which is over 100 volumes you know thear yeah and he reduced it to nine volumes wow okay there's a quick question here sorry to interject the she that somebody had asked that are you sure had said that or did he say that they weren't fuk I find it hard to believe believes Kain thinks the weren't and SCH it's a private conversation and um he was very
um yeah so yeah so I mean that's sure yeah and um uh where H comes in because he he uh he said that you know M uh Afghani hadn't been stringent in applying standards in you know authenticating um uh you know the nine volumes so he went and uh applied stringently you know the um of
um and he reduced the 9 to three okay I see and a quick question on this sh so you know when you say that uh kaini in his CI doesn't transmit from the S of the 12th Imam does he transmit anything from the 12th Imam or can it only be through the suah and therefore he doesn't transmit from is that how it works or how does it work the the thing is there there's a paradox here that you know here you've got no um uh none of the um you know W uh
included in theal okay but but then the name CI is given by the IM who's in hiding that it's enough right so he says he okay yeah that that's where the name comes from I see okay wow that's but but that that that um uh uh that conversation was was very um helpful for me okay because the
thing is that you know er uh if what Dr hullah is saying is wrong then someone actually needs to do a a PhD or uh their masters or something again it's only three volumes just go through them and see if um uh well not the three volumes you know kain's work is not that big okay yeah so um uh just look if um the any of the 12 are in sorry any of the of the 12 IM are in
the okay is there a distinction between and because the person here is using the word repeated I think I've heard of the term s myself as well in the past uh I'm familiar with the word Wala because you see they were the W rather than he yeah rather than ambassadors yeah they were his agents more agents yeah because they they they went back and forth with questions yeah somebody said here he has responded by saying look there's no distinction now shukr and I appreciate
that yeah right yeah wow so okay that's that's really what a yeah what a way to get right into it I suppose that was a a fascinating discussion I did really enjoy meeting sheah really amazing uh you know intelligent Genius of a of a man and we had a great conversation it did get cut short even after you went I don't think he uh he had to go as well so there were a few other guests that were turning up and so he he obviously stayed longer than than you but he we got into our discussion on because from
the Hadith that we were speaking of I we were I think I asked him to expand on how does uh this Hadith criticism work within their tradition and he was expanding and then he was engaging well my bukari gate kind of discussion and and it was it was good and there was a with him as well the Imam uh of um it
um of the local Masid in Birmingham I've got i' yeah I've slipped my mind now sorry apologies it's it's on the tip of my tongue but uh it was an it was a a very engaging Di and conversation so yeah but wow what a way to jog our memories sh I love it no it's something that you know something like this sticks yeah I see because you know uh uh because I had H uh with you know the sheia part of my family they this was
something that even they they'd never even heard of and they went back to their Scholars and came back silent because people may not know that your your background and your many of your family are from and and you yourself kind of took your own journey and just yes the thing is that you know I ended up in Birmingham and um the Blessed the Blessed Birmingham Birmingham
Shari yeah the the the thing is that you you see our uh family you know um my great grandfather uh his father was sick so right okay well who okay so your great-grandfather so his father was seik okay he has in converted yeah and um uh he he was a Sunni his name was omin uh but then his his two sons my great uncle the eldest uh uh son was
a Sunni then my grandfather was a Shia that's how it came around so okay wow so most of your family are they today I mean not your immediate uh you know from you children Etc but your let's say from my sibling or my siblings that the all Shia but then uh my sisters my brother-in-law s uh half Shia half Sunni because you know the family was such okay the sushi kind of yeah
Dynamic yeah okay wow okay yeah so well that's so it's because I think a lot of of and a lot of people may not be aware of that and and I wasn't aware to the extent I know that I was aware that you'd kind of come from that Journey but I didn't know how many something really interesting which you know um uh I I I did go to Clifton Road um uh you know the Clifton Road mosque yeah
yeah this is uh so I I arrived in uh in Birmingham from Newport in 78 so so 79 1980 uh between that I actually did go to the Shia mosque um uh I never knew anything um about Shia uh F or M or anything apart from you know um uh the family culture was that you know they would do what they do what the Shia do so I thought you know I've got time I'll
go and um learn and um went to the mosque um uh asked for the mol they direct me to the mol and I said look um uh I don't know anything about the de I want to learn so I fully understand and the M said look um I'm busy at the moment come back um some other time and um alhamdulillah alhamdulillah uh the other time never
came is it is an it is a journey of mysteries isn't it life it is and um uh my uh father had a friend uh not a friend acquaintance who he got me in contact with and um he got me going to uh you know um uh aand mosque mosque and um uh and um the the nearest mosque to me was a Bry
mosque so um I used to um go between these two mosques Bry mosque and um duband mosque and I tell you some uh another thing um which is uh the diandi mosque had um an Indian scholar who had the gift of the Gap he he would me he would Mesmerize people with just the way he talked and um I I I pleaded with him uh okay to teach me
because oh wow because I wanted I had this thir to learn yeah and uh he said look um you you're not going to stick with it I said look I'm not working I've got time I will you you know um uh be a good student and he said what happens if you get a job I said look I won't take a
job he just wouldn't teach me wow so that's the two that you know God saved uh you know it's you know it's interesting how this journey unfolds sh because yeah you've got you see now imagine I'm just wondering not this isn't in a way to kind of be dismissive or disp people everybody you know is wonderful in their own way and they bring strengths and we've all have weaknesses but imagine now your journey with through a kind of DIY lens what you it would have been just just just a
different manifestation to who you are um and what's interesting is when I don't know if you recall when I started studying Arabic and when you came back from Pakistan and you came back via Damascus and and I told you oh look I'd uh I think I was just 17 I told you I've been studying Arabic and I was about to go to a madrasa in the UK I was about to go to either bur or I think K Minister and I asked you I said which should I go to and you said NE
neither oh that's and and I said where should I go then and and and you said well I've I stopped off for two weeks in sham it's a beautiful place and why do you go to Sham and I thought what the hell where the hell is Damascus i' never I mean I think I'd heard of it but I hadn't really I didn't even know where it was on the map and I and I remember you saying that look if not anything your horizons in Arabic will at least become very uh you know like they'll be strong and and that in itself I I guess for me in that way began a
journey you know which was uh yeah then very different obviously had I gone to I don't know if I would have made the madrasa in b k minister or if they would have along the way chucked me out or but it's yeah just a journey I guess wow and uh something really interesting about you know Damascus it's um uh the brother that you know uh helped me and looked after me in Damascus um Sid Abu he's in the UK now
doing the rounds he's um she Sid Abu now oh wait he's right is he the one doing the with yes the yes oh you know I thought it rang a bell yeah I said who is this and this he's the of ABD shag oh wow yeah because he used to look after and he's the one that you know um uh uh made sure that you know I met ABD
rman shagui and um uh uh he uh I traveled with him to Juma and um the dasas he made it's amazing amazing man yeah Allah bless him wow you have mentioned him to me on but that that's yeah but ABD shagui was um uh again it's um uh you know the caliber of the shik is um you know um he his poetry uh while he was alive had reached
the MB wow so um uh to this day yes and I hear he would teach the of this is what I heard you when I was there when I was there when I was there they were going through um in the Gatherings they were going through um uh um you know um what was it called of um
okay it's an amazing work that work um what is it what what is that okay uh but the thing is it's um one of the oldest work complete works on to Sol that we have and um uh that so much of of um what he's quoting from uh is lost but um it's an amazing work um I'll tell you how important this work
is yeah you know um the subcontinent uh just from Pakistan there were two translations of it in Udu of the Lum or of yeah of the Luma and um before I arrived at Damascus I had uh an attachment with the work because um you know um Dr Nicholson you know the Cambridge um Don uh he was the first um English man
to uh bring it out of manuscript he uh found all the uh manuscripts C brought them together and then printed it and then he did a summary uh English translation of it uh then uh his student um Dr Arbury you must have heard of Dr Ary you know he translated the Quran AJ Ary anyway a okay uh uh and um he found uh a manuscript that Nicholson hadn't F uh used and um uh a certain
section of it was missing and he he printed that and um uh I I remember you know um in uh in in the late 80s uh I I used to uh majority of my time before marriage uh used to be spent at um you know um uh Bristol Road um you know the center for Muslim Christian relations um you know where the M Birmingham uni with not liary it it was part of the cabri college it's where the mingana
collection was right okay I see yeah yeah and um I borrowed the book and uh I I copied it um uh I don't know if I still have it because uh I've got a couple of Arabic and uh uh the U translations but it's an amazing work because it it it presents like you know ABD suami you know in his because their attachment with the you know the IMs of they pres the
information they're presenting is byed oh wow so it's in that same style the Hadi sty same style it's Hadith style but also that you know the the information it's uh it's a small book by the way it's not not not you know a big book right this is the the Lum yeah theab Lum but but again uh the UK has a history uh of it um because um you know
uh Nicholson uh um uh he's a Mastery of you know uh what's it called um Persian and then Arabic is second and then the amount he trans into English uh and then you know Dr arur uh uh he he followed on and um Dr AR's on record saying my shik in was um Dr Nicholson and by the way they never um uh I've not come across any reference them saying that you know they had
accepted the dean but you know the way they write translate they present it's um as if they Muslim wow wow the thing yeah the history of you know um uh uh scholarship I again uh lot of Muslims and Muslim St uh students of knowledge will you know put down you know um the people of um what's it called um you know the mustri the orientalists but you know a lot of them were genuine people they were really
looking it's like you know Dr auy he did say that you know if you read the forward um to his translation of the Quran he says there was something that you know used to help him uh um he he could feel the power that you know that was flowing through him while he was translating it he couldn't p down he couldn't say what it was but he felt it there you know there there are ways and things and I suppose like just a guidance or an intuition even you know as you're speaking of Damascus she I was thinking
that look how you know my very early part of my journey um you know with your help began in Damascus and I remember when I was there in my early you know in in the first few days we visited I was shown around and uh we visited uh the you know the tomb of M and in the coming time let's say the coming months or there you know what I was there for that first year second year um and especially when I'd become
Maliki as well I didn't really like hadn't I hadn't really valued his M um the way only very recently in my life it's dawned on me and it's interesting that there was even though I did go to his tomb on a good few occasions several occasions we went because we would be in ruknudin often and it's just amazing like I was just thinking as well that how certain chapters in our lives like we have no idea sometimes maybe a Barakat maybe
something special like you're saying that there are certain things but they will connect at a much later chapter in your life like maybe you're not ready maybe the time's not ready I don't know but yeah I was just thinking about that when you were saying it the the thing about this is that you know um uh there's a couple of of um you know M mm B yeah uh in Punjabi says
Mal yeah it's it's our job is to water yeah yeah even you know M Muhammad Bak like I was thinking about you know my whole kind of drawn being drawn sorry let me uh people who didn't understand it's the Gardner's job is to water and nurture the plants it's the owner's uh job to uh you know harvest
the fruit or not Harvest them and what you know um uh the poet is say uh hinting to Allah knows best this is what I take from it is what you know yeah what mu has just said it's the fruit will only fall when it's ready when it's ripe that's when it it's harvested or when it will fall so when you're ready for that moment then you will be gifted that moment yeah you can try all your life you know to get that moment but you
ain't going to get it until you are ready for that moment yeah I was just seeing that the the tomb you've got there of and um it's even you know with as you were saying she even with M Muhammad baksh K Shar it's something that I visited on so many occasions when I from Damascus went to Pakistan just because of my uh my grandfather was very uh committed and devoted to to all of this and and to the the pabs of courtly but I wasn't really
into any of this myself but I did go along on many occasions I went to Kar Sharif I went to the uh the tomb of M Muhammad bakan and only in recent years have I really come to appreciate and I've been seeing some of and it reminded me but like I was seeing online the tombs and stuff and I remember actually being there and it's it's just crazy the the the dots and how certain things are connected in a way yeah I was H
so right okay have you you know with with the um the the the whole teaching speaking ofn I know there was you mentioned Abu and he was doing a I think he was going over some books here and some I think I think AA or something ofi I got a poster Heritage press have translated um a small work and um they've invited him and his son okay um and um they're doing the
tour I see I see H yeah right so but is there something you know your own Journey with this sh have have you I know you were at uh uh you know exploring previously the whole fut hat and many years ago I mean you'd actually told me about it many years ago I wasn't really too interested at that time uh has any of your
learning has any of your uh you know Journey on that learning reading anything um have you been doing any of that or anything interesting you've come across the you know um I I I have the F heart I have um yeah uh uh not you know the addition I want but it's which is you know not the same one actually yeah I think yeah uh if you can find an Edition edited byab that's the addition you should go
for because that guy was the master uh um of the fart uh I am really really bad with maths uh to this day uh for even uh for for us to fully you know get the F to open up to you you really need to know Mats okay is that because of the encryptics
numerology and yeah you know where how it at every chapter opening you know there's a verse something in verse um that needs to be deciphered and it uh it like he's condensed you know the um chapter itself in that uh verse yeah that the the additions that are generally in print yeah yeah you've got that's I'm pretty sure it's the same one I've got it's the same one it's not the
ideal um but um he has you know other works um I have one work which I really love of his it's um he he has um a work on and um uh he everything that he quotes in there he quotes it uh it's like it's really a Hadith work everything is with SED and the work he's quoting from it's lost which is um
you know um uh uh imam's work on the okay I mean I've been very um mesmerized by the fact that I've said this before on a few discussions wherever has come up how muchi quotes the Quran Sunnah it's not what you know like people say this kind of stuff all the time just as a to be nice I guess you know say oh you know such and such she is always quoting the Quran Sunnah but and I and I get that
you know we always it's like an Accolade but I was mesmerized to see how much he actually quotes it it's just his way of looking at certain verses it gives you a new insight it's not just a theory it's actually deeply anchored and entrenched in the Quran Sunnah it's something you find that you know um uh if not all but majority of you know the imams of Tas specifically from
Andalucia uh they have this you know um the Insight they have in the Quran is shocking it's really really shocking it's um you know um uh it's a three volume work uh
um uh I can't I'm trying to recall the name but um he's the Sheik of um and of uh he has a uh he has a commentary on the As and um he's buried in um maresh um okay uh
ijan oh Ian yes yes yes the Mystic the great yeah yeah yeah the the thing is that you know this uh I have a problem with the word Mystic but again you oh you I think that's just me that's just me it's it's just you know from just you know I'm curious why why do you not I I actually embrace the word and so I'm curious why do you have a distaste towards it what does it mean so well okay so I would have thought it's linked to I guess you know the the the whole mystery and the whole
people who seek out that they're on that path people of that that um Divine experience that isn't really about words it's more um I guess mysterious in its uh this is how I understand it so people who've walked that path um so I've not seen it as a problematic word but I know you've said before that you have a bit of a distaste towards it because it's what it means it's you know uh the whole it's not that you know we don't
believe in the we believe in the of course but you know uh but if it's dealing with the r then you know spiritual is better then you know Mystic okay but I suppose people know what you're saying when you say the Mystic tradition or the I suppose to me I translate the kind of the people of as the you know those the mystics as in they those who are after that kind of
taste um that's how i' I suppose just translated but yeah so you're saying Ian okay wow yeah because he's very uh he's known for his uh uh you know the dictionary defines this as this is what I have a problem uh belief that Union with or absorption into the deity or the absolute or the spiritual apprehension of knowledge inaccessible to the intellect that part is fine that part is the the latter part of a kind of like
you have a kind of knowing that sometimes is ineffable you can't put into words but it's like a tasting so they they know without that certain types of knowings are not always uh articulable like you can't articulate them how would you translate it into Arabic so so I would what would be the Arabic word for it so so for me I would I would kind of do that literary kind of crossover so I would say like a no a is not a problem
but translate that now back into English it's not mysticism I I would say Mystics because I because I don't think there's a term that they use in English in the same except I I'm kind of seeing it more as not so much the word but what they're speaking about so the people of no but the people of do are dealing with things that are tangible not something that is intangible you wouldn't feel the experiences intangible the actual you know kind of but the thing is what what
what the what is it the V is IM yeah yeah yeah Iman is tangible but I mean I suppose from a perspective but from a perspective Iman is also would you not say of the and it is because it's Fai no the IM is in but then the uh of IM you know the deepest you can go is where there is nothing but him yeah yeah that true now that is that not mystical no but that is do yeah
exactly 100% I'm with that yeah no but but that is not Mystics it's something because what you're beginning with is something tangible it's just a deeper understanding of I see I see I mean I see what you're saying I think there's different some uh different kind of uh the way to translate Mystic I think there's a few like the first definition given people would have problems with that I think the latter definition because there's a few definitions of Mystics the others seem to be fine like people would um
because it's more about people who see it as this kind of uh you know knowing of God in a um a kind of mysterious way that is ineffable it's not about you know you can't always articulate this kind of sense of knowing that that the way they experience so really it's about an experience and this is why the is an experience so that's how I would join the the the dots but I guess yeah but I I personally would um uh you know my way because everyone has their own
personal yeah way is that of uh uh it's it's uh H H how you know City Hamza uh um uh molded us was it's it's very zi okay H it's very that you know it's your that governs right okay yeah I see then then you're safe yeah I I see what you're saying yeah because there is with you know mysticism it's it's too too
gray I I see what you're saying because the the likes of um I suppose let's say we take this to be a spectrum yes um now within within the path let's within this the Sufi tradition or the spiritual path or even before it became a name you know right from the Sala let's say coming down there will be if it's a spectrum there will be you know different it's one genre but with so of many kinds and degrees of people some who are far more mystical and maybe right on you know on
you've got and some may be more Center or some even more it's uh articulated in a way that it's more about like you're saying a um a good uh a virtuous kind of practice of um how you practice virtues how you practice good practice you know uh isah in that sense yeah so I could see that there and there's many you know this and not always do they agree with one another as well so the likes of you know some of the the farther end of this path of uh
the likes of Ari let's say or you will have many many of that nature you know whether it'll be right on that end no uh again my reading of um uh L and ofi they would be people would think they were extreme oh yeah yeah no they yeah no and okay yeah
againi we have more of his works then we do of but the thing is the stream is the same M what what flowed and What flows is the same uh it's they never B yeah it was always covered it was never you know um uh this literal meaning of mysticism you see what I was um so in fact I was discussing this um one of our Discord conversations just recently that
you see with I mean there's no I I mean I was as well clearly all of these people I just wasn't aware I mean I wasn't I don't mean it in any uh lesser sense but I just wasn't aware of the kind of depth of let's say His Kind ofy works I know they attribute I think scene to him but or he has that book but I don't but with Ari obviously there's a lot of philosophizing ideas intellectual kind of cosmology and just very very um you
know um extent and speaking on it in fact somebody had asked here about the uh a moment ago and there was in the comments about his some of his right through the is going through some of them just taking a look and you can see whenever he's transmitting Hadith on many occasions he's going through with Assan as well and he's going back maybe not all the way but to his sh and his sh and his uh he is taking he says he transmits bukari from the student ofak and so that that he kind of quotes
him and and and other people but I was uh coming back to the point about is before I forget you know student is student of halaj uh okay you'll have to remind me I'll get you his name sure okay and the thing Imam Shiri you know the MIM who's a student of IM abass Asar uh right no he's not a student but you know he's as
he uh he has an a that was translated into English which he uh verified with abass mean imaj I mean I I I clearly believe that you know halaj was from the you know the Saints of this umah and the tragedy that befell him this kind of it's likened uh at times by historians to that of Christ in a way in fact the The Passion of halaj that was written by Louie uh
M uh also very in you know the whole thing from the way the kind of sense of the struggle the calling to people the Betrayal to the crucifixion um obviously not step by step but there's a similarity with the whole The Suffering The Passion of the Christ and the passion of Hal I was saying in my discussion that you know when I'd started going into a bit of this stuff I um you know it resulted in some emotions and a kind of um where I was quite upset with the way he was not just the
way he was treated but almost what I felt was the Betrayal of the people around him in his time this I only found ease in you know recently when I was reading what II had to say about HAL and then that kind of eased me up because I was originally this whole thing of the way he his betrayal as well even you know the not just the scholars but the the you know whether we want to say Mystics or the sufis of the time as well had kind of one could argue betrayed him or turned I mean to the extent that his death
warrant is signed by Janel bagdadi as well and you you know you you think well you know these people surely would have understood so I struggled with this for a little while uh not being able to reconcile it and then I read I was going through some reading and there was um I I was reading what not abak sorry had to say about and he comments it's in his F but this was kind of extracted from it he's mentioning that he says that obviously he was a person you know of the path
righteous a saint but he mentions that you see he was he says that he was mistaken in trying to share this secret with a people that just could not ever fom what he was going to say and thereby precipitating a fitna he he says that look like these Mysteries this kind of Kash this kind of uh having access to to that realm the imaginal realm most people they can't identify with what you're saying and to them it sounds like gibberish and then you
yourself can't articulate it perfectly so you use words that may not be the best words to say something because it's ineffable you can't really put it into words the experience and thereby you know the whole speak to the speak to people in accordance with the reasoning do you wish that Allah and his messenger are disbelieved and so when he was explaining all of this like to me I don't this is just my journey like after ages that kind of thing was extinguished and I realized like ah like I see what he's you know he was saying that this
this concept of that he shouldn't have you know this secret this mystery that you shouldn't try to uh Express to to certain people because you're just going to trigger a fitner ofs I don't know what your thoughts are on this sh uh two points yeah uh first one uh about you know um the death warrant yeah um you know uh something uh that the M have um you know when everything looks too good to be true but
you know something isn't right it just doesn't sit right uh what you do is you look at the dates you know when people are born and dead when they died yeah uh there is you know so much misinformation that you know uh we uh I put you have we have uh and you know uh people watching we've we're living through uh uh a Time when you know uh the truth is proven to be wrong and
falsehood is proven to be right so much disinformation so much disinformation and uh what will happen is that you know when historians in 100 years time read it they will be shocked how come people you know got Hoodwinked and this is the thing with them uh when you have the state at play yeah yeah scholarship doesn't matter what scholarship it is spiritual or you know temporal they will be pulled along with the tide and this is what happened
with Imam mansur alaj uh this adage that you know even sufi's transmitted this is something I have been you know highlighting since you know the 1990s the first time I heard this what I heard from you was from Sheik n that you know Imam uh mansur's uh death warrant was signed by his IM Jan IM Jan died four years before Imam mansur even uh trial begins oh okay that's the
fact that's a fact just look at no this is what I'm saying that you see IM IM J Imam juned while you know when Imam mansur uh uh left Imam juned and moved down to Imam sah yeah okay and then he even left Imam sah uh but the thing is Imam Jan dies four years before Imam man does that's one thing the second thing is none of
theat of Bagdad the four of the would find him guilty the final say he was kept in prison for years I think like was it like n years no the the the real uh Affair is that you see the mother of the khif of the time uh was you know someone who loved Imam mansur and because the mother had talked to the khif the gulam KH you know the Prime
Minister had he he thought he saw that he didn't have the ear of the khif the mother did now how he can't get rid of the mother so he gets rid of mansur because they influ politics I mean it was no no no this is what it is it's there H and the thing is that you know we know this is true you know you know the great Malik Malik yeah you read his M you know where in Rab go and read the section on the
M yeah in there he says IM mans alaj was correct in his understanding yeah and that's a of the Maliki school and then you know in the shif whenever he says he's speaking about he's speaking about there is no ordinary man yeah neither is and the thing is if he was you know uh what you know people say he was there's no way people like you know IBN Haj and
especially will be quoting him and then uh on top of that you know closer to home you know um uh one of you know the great um Dand the elders you know um he he has a whole work on okay does he okay I yeah in U wow okay and and the thing is that you know um uh so many of the manuscripts have come to light you know Lou masso had a hand and you know the great um
he's he's done a great service to no he's done a great service but the thing is that uh he he the credit should be given where credit is due you know you know the G mu he is the one that you know helped oh okay did he yes oh wow I didn't realize because the thing is Louie didn't know where all the manuscripts were it was Ali who helped him in getting access to that and that that's where you know the duy thing
comes in as well through that same um hanafi uh thing uh uh Imam mans alaj is BU you know free from everything that is thrown at him by sufis and non sufis and you know um the comment that um uh nobar says he is a product of his melu of his teachers yeah because you know this opinion this uh understanding was
what was being passed on and and when you're saying this understanding you mean the one that this narrative yes the narrative that you know Imam uh mansur alaj had gone beyond bounds he had you know said what he he he had you know um be the secret yeah be the secret yeah now this brings Beyond you know I I have a pet hate okay of you know this word Secret
[Laughter] yeah what is this what is is did the have a s right did the sahab have a s did the have a you know the one who was the most knowledgeable who had uh taken the most you know knowledge even the prophet said I am the city of knowledge and Ali is its gate he was asked up times did the rasool give you anything that he did not give to the
masses I mean to the general he said no but you know my f is something else and it's that F and you know what brings forward andan and I mean uh uh uh you know all the others you know Abu Mudan and um yeah his name's and the others you know is that F and uh and I I have the you know s if
it is you know if if they mean what you know the Sufi mean by Sir what are you understanding when they're saying the magic I mean the secret the S what what do you because there an understanding I get and wondering if it's similar to what you I'll I'll give you what you know um uh uh you know you know IM okay yeah the series you know within us there's this plane okay yeah where the Divine and the
the the finite infinite meet like the ithas okay the the Barak yes the bar yeah the the ithas no not the Barak not not that bar but a kind of within us yeah no within us there's the ithmus you know there's the shore and there's the sea yeah yeah but the the sea uh uh touches the shore okay but it is not the shore but it it's not the shore but you know uh the waves come and they go back so is that is the waves here the
the of the Divine is that the or is the shore of the Divine which no no no the shore is us it's tangible yeah tangible yeah the uh the sea is the yeah yeah so yeah that's a I I love that understanding it's very mystical so is that is that the secret of the experience that is know best no this is you know IM Ki yeah okay he's saying that what you know I I have understood from you know the shik city Hamza Sheik
um uh he said the cities where the Sheik uh accesses you know theoat and gains spiritual help say say that again sorry so the sh has access to
the yeah and then there's uh Aid that flows from theol to the she yeah yeah so this is a kind of like you see that the sh in that state of being embodies this mode of being that is the archetype of the r is this this is what I'm understanding from this no no it's something of uh you know uh the M from the rasool is Flowing okay yeah this is okay this kind of flow yeah flow from
the rasool through the to the mids okay yeah which this is what you know the shes of uh uh uh s as um uh way understood yeah that you know it's uh access yeah Aid that flows from the Sheik uh uh uh I mean uh from the rasool through the Sheikh you see I would see that in the same I would see what I saying there is the same thing be being expressed in different different words in different yeah in different kind of
ways but again it's uh no nothing here that I can see which would be a secret do do you see yeah so what what I'm understanding a bit and is that what they're saying well this is this is my my kind of apprehension and you know I'd like you to chime in on it is that you see that there is an there is a there is a Allah is you know this explicit
implicit and the implicit is I suppose is a dimension in and of itself to do with experience as well um now there's certain let's say um realizations or certain things that were you know which are very spiritual heightened but that I feel that it comes back to that they can't be fully put into words and they're not about see this is why I don't mind the word mystical because I hope it explains
this a bit better that there is a tradition which can not actually be taught academically but there is a hope that we teach a structure and you just figure it out like you get this so as if like we're teaching somebody to ride a bike but we can't quite say this is is how we can just give the the the method and assist and the person just eventually gets it so with this let's say the IAT um worship Salah so many things all of these things like the the remembrance of Allah the mindfulness all of these
things are kind of physical things that a person is doing so somebody could technically do them and does nothing like you know the Quran mentions people praying but they don't really you know they're not really praying so but what there's a hope that with this scaffolding you will attain this this inner state which you can't really put into words it's more an experience um so when some people have gone about trying to maybe articulate that in ways and then they're going to say things which are going to always be elusive so it's
going to get confusing for people and I'm not trying to judge I'm just trying to say that this is what I feel they're talking about this inner kere of this batin Dimension this implicit or the realization is what they're referring to as the the ma the not the magic sorry the the the secret so that's what I've understood when they say that you know it's one should be weary of uh expressing the secret to this is what I this is maybe I'm I don't know that's how I've been understanding it so I I don't have an answer for it because the thing is that you see if I
did have an answer for it I would shut up well but there are so like look like let me chime in with something like a parallel from today and I'm not saying you know this is without a judgment of right or wrong or anything I'm just giving you know for approximation to give an a realization to some understanding you take something that is today doesn't even have to be from I mean it's not from a religious necessarily realm take something like psychedelics as an example now they can induce such an
experience um that would be people would definitely give it the word spiritual although maybe it's you know I'm not saying it's necessarily spiritual in the same but they would give they would use these words scientists other researchers use these words but the people that undergo them let's say they undergo this this journey they call it a trip Journey um they would often describe a sense of for example nonduality that being that they realize that you know somehow everything is connected the sense of it transcends this ego it transcends but even though they give it
words they often say look this experience is ineffable like you can't truly put it into words that when the other person hears them they exactly know like you know if we say it's 25 degrees today a person would pretty much could if they're aware of temperature have a true to life realization of what we're saying and experience or if you said this person was exacerbated this person was Furious this person was livid this person was in a rage this person was in love this person was like we understand these things his iCal with laughter but when we use these other
experiences most people wouldn't really have a one to one correlation to what they're saying they might get some understanding like I think he's trying to say this he's trying to say that they can't truly understand it so that's taking something like a plant what would the actual experience of the Divine so it would be really um so this this is how I you know as an approximation would bring in something like that to say well you could take an experience like this and when people talk about it they seemed they they deemed like crazy people because of the experience they're having you know people think this person's crazy like
you say oh all of Nature's connected I don't just mean in a in this sense I mean in a real sense and I mean like oh we are not these we are and they they use all this uh nonduality you know we we are part of everything but we're the part but it just sounds okay either sounds like talk or it just sounds nonsensical people think it's either metaphor or it's like the person's just crazy so that's how I uh relate this discussion in the Islamic thing as well it's that when people say this they're talking about experiences they've had that fine you people will talk about
them but most people won't be able to relate to them that's what I've uh thought I'm not sure the thing is that you see you're talking about experience and then but we were talking about Sir Sir is the secret yeah now what the sufis understand what you're talking about is Hal yeah yeah like an ecstatic yeah yeah s is something totally different okay okay you don't feel it's the whole nosis no no no no you you see even that word no say I have a
problem okay yeah it's it's just let's get all these problems out today sh no it's the the beauty of f you know when you've spent so many years in F it's you want to know what the word means of course of course yeah and the uh where the word you know nosis comes from no Christian kind of is it kind ofit Greek Heritage well you know the word and are synonyms yeah we're talking
about okay can be on different levels but at the end of the day it's still ill it's like you know uh I I tell you you know last week I got uh asked a question yeah and he gave me a high you know people think people are weird you know you get a
question you don't need mushrooms you just get a crush he gives you a heart I I have experienced many of those highs going down a rabbit hole of learning I tell you yeah and the question was you know when you die when you're in the mhm do you remember does your soul keep the memories of of of this world yeah of your life and um I would assume so yeah yeah but the thing is I didn't have an
Evidence and the thing is with me is if I can't back it up that's just my opinion uh okay and this is what gave me the high so I I said look um I've got no evidence for that evidence is in but wouldn't the whole discourse of the do we mean Islamic evidence because wouldn't the whole discourse of the Quran about you know uh the the the the kind of sense that they have an awareness of who they are in their history no but the hash is you know uh
Judgment Day that's that's not bar you wouldn't consider it still a part of the bar no that the bar finishes okay goes into the day of judgment but it is not the day of judgment okay because I had come across some readings where they explain it I suppose it's a theory but they kind of philosophizing it as the hash is an extension of the Barak but then the life after is a whole different dimension I I was kind of possible possible but
again you were saying yes yeah so uh the evidence I did have okay there there's kab and there's uh you know um Hadi yeah uh is that the soul does remember the soul has a memory yeah okay yeah now you know the thing that that you were saying about you know s yeah uh it it has roots in this what I'm going to share with you sure okay the
secret this is it people the secret secret is about to come out it's about to be revealed yeah right now yeah when Allah you know uh you as a teacher how what would you test your students before before you've taught them or would you teach them and then test them sure sure that's what teachers do don't they they teach them and then they test their learning yeah sure yeah so when did Allah teach us that he is our
Lord is this no but you see he's putting the question he's put the question yeah when did he teach us I suppose the is it a not an a priora is it not something that the souls just knew self-evidently no but then he he's put it he's still taught us of course of course the awareness comes from Allah obviously we are we don't exist without him we are nothing obviously ultimately so when did he teach us
I'm assuming one would say when he brought us into a state of being um that state of being meant certain things like it had when was that so when the r was brought into an existence it would have a it would entail an intelligibility of like it would have a nature that is intelligible and so he's already hard wired us to believe in him but I I wouldn't you see it's not to me it's not about believe but he's
hardwired us in a way that we would know him we would know him yeah okay yeah yeah so we would know him now do we remember that now we generally right so here's the thing we generally from an art you know articulation perspective or a memory perspective don't know this to be true but I feel that we have an inner yearning that does kind it's almost like a a needle magnetic north like towards God it has a yearning a pining for the
Divine so I would say that we we know it without knowing it that's what what I would say the thing is how is God known how is he known or how does he known no how is he known through an I mean I I don't want it to become circular by saying through a knowing of him so through an awareness of him a you see this awareness I mean there's two ways one is
we we're learning through a learning about him like an almost like an uh an academic learning I it doesn't have to be as in we are taught Allah is like this and this is information however I feel that there's a part that is just a knowing it's not it's very primordial to our being like like when a person wakes up they don't think like I you know I just know who I am I don't have to think in an information sense oh I am so and so or I am I just know it so I felt that you know this this in the Quran that know
that there is one God it's a directive to an inner knowing that we have even though we're not aware of it this is what I think but okay what do you think what what do you saying sh no it's no one teaches us to breathe yeah yeah we just know how to breathe we just know yeah we just know how to breathe um the thing that links that alus to is with us again it's linked anyway but it's the statement of the Prophet sallallah alaihi wasallam those
that knew each other there yeah know each other here yeah they have a a repulsion and an attraction to one another yeah so the what happened in ALU was more than just ALU and Al for people who aren't familiar is is of the verse that Al Allah saying am I not your lord they said yeah so uh the prophet sallallah alai wasallam and uh theith is Muslim that you
know the were you know uh holds holded together those that knew each other there know each other here and one of you know something that's sitting there on mahad dve for God knows how many decades is how many companions experienced this okay you know this thing of s yeah is they experienced it they you know in English that they have this Deja
Vu thing yeah yeah yeah yeah and this is exactly deu a kind ofu Ru yeah there's you know uh uh the classic one is that of you know Salman Al Farsi okay and um he uh was made governor of you know um Medan uh modern day Iraq and um this uh comes to see him and he's made
to wait and um yeah uh he's made to wait and other people you know um are seen before him and then you know he's getting very fidgety and then you know s IM Salman Al you know calls him by his name he's never met this guy before okay yeah and um he shocked saying see the how do you know me by name he said I even know your father's name and I've known you before you came
to this world and um to me that was the that you know we had the r remembers yeah you know two things I I want to ask you Sher is in relation to this one right so uh about about this uh and you don't need mushrooms no you don't need mushrooms you don't need mushrooms for this Jau we don't need we don't need magic mushrooms no so yeah I mean
this um you know that sorry what first one just more a statement and second leading to the question that you see there are people that when we meet them in this in this world undeniably there is an you know there is a pull an attraction I don't mean necessarily an attraction I'm not talking here about like a sexual attraction which obviously is in its own place but I mean like an affinity and there is a repulsion you know there's sometimes I've met people that you will just so get on like it's like you've known each other but you
haven't known each other and sometimes I've met people that there's no reason like they I'm sure they're great people but they're just so heavy on my presence like their presence is just so like heavy in an unsettling way like I don't like I I want to kind of go like I don't want to I don't know and there's nothing they're not doing anything wrong they I've just felt this sometimes and and when I've read about it in the past and people have said oh have you like I remember reading some of the imams IM sha speaking about somebody was asking have you ever you know you felt the
heaviness of people's presence and um and I could like I was just relating to this in the same way of this attraction and repulsion and how the r um would I'm assuming that also plays you know this had you know that heaviness and that you know attraction or Affinity is that of the r yeah there is an affinity to people you you definitely feel it and equally there's a an a repulsion with some people repulsion as well and it's places as well oh with places okay that's interesting
okay yes I see H okay I see what you're saying I would have thought places sometimes it's the people that have gathered in places that have brought this kind of you know we would say Barakat but a kind of Consciousness to that place yes yeah yeah yeah the other question leading up about the Ayah I wanted your thoughts if Poss you know this uh
but you see but that part of the verse then that you know that lest you say you know afterwards that you know oh but we forgot or but it's kind of a bit inevitable in this D that this forgetfulness this but Allah doesn't say you know or but that we did of this but you know
but this is it but isn't that inevitable or is this Allah is just REM reminding us of the inevitable or what how come because the first part of the verse is a postulate that Allah is saying that you know now they this is like undeniable to them it's like a knowings a priori but then Allah says that you know lest you say later on that oh but we were forgetful about this so I mean yeah it's uh how many hours do you sleep a day I
don't know maybe six to six to eight on a really good day maybe six to eight something like that yeah but after that you wake up yeah it's that waking up but one could say oh is this in in a is it not a a setup question that it's not a setup it's it's factual it's us it's you know being awake and being asleep so it's inevitable that we will be forgetful of Allah no it's it's how
our makeup is you know how we are hardwired we cannot be awake 24/7 he's not made that way he's made us that you know we need our physically we need to sleep so why so is this so this is not a reprimand and not a reprimand it's not a reprimand no it's not a reprimand what happens to no because even a kind of I don't know a better word to say it but is it almost like a kind of endearing
endeared teasing then like or is it like I don't know a better word to say is it like that you would that would you you know that lest you say later on that we were forgetful about this which is inevitable you will be about this so is it almost like an endeared um way that it's like you know um you know that um you know whichever wording you want it's you know the prophet did that used to happen to him yeah did his heart get
clouded I mean yeah in an emotional but not a physic I mean we don't mean in a physical no but But whichever way you want to look at it it's you know um if you look at the wording you can only come to one conclusion if you look at the wording yeah if you look at all the wording there's only one conclusion you can come up just as if you look at the of this Ayah there's only one conclusion you can come to okay sure but I mean what which is that you know you're going
to be you're going to forget I'm making sure that you know on that day you can't deny it the prophet uh how you know the uh the people of God explain you know the or whatever word you want to use for them they say that you know it's you know in proximity because the was just increasing so much in proximity when he would look back he would say was I in that
position and uh where we are it's like you know the uh uh the thing I said we need to sleep but even when we physically sleep our R doesn't sleep right yeah the r does not sleep or the r is not no no I mean in fact because I I would uh I mean you see to me is actually I use it interchangeably with Consciousness and so when we sleep we
the the unconscious mind it's fully active I mean it's it's you know okay the Pilot's been switched off but it's fully there it's connected yeah to yeah so it it doesn't and you know the one that knew told us what happens to it yeah I I see and it's those memories that you know uh our interaction you know with others yeah which has been happening
from alast yeah otherwise it does not make sense um they were gathered hordes before they came in into this world yeah the I mean that's yeah that that's how the verse explains it that we were yeah everybody was gathered in a way yeah so we have memories before
this yeah being caged in this cage then you know we're free and it's not forgetting those memories I see I mean this is also it's interesting how some um thinkers philosophers like uh Socrates he's also uh posited that we have that humans have we've undergone a process which he calls anamnesis where
we've forgotten by coming into this world we've forgotten the you know let's say the these Nobles or whatever these things the truth and so on as a process of entering this world but as we encounter it we recognize it because we knew it from before because he's trying to resolve the Paradox that you know Plato presents this Paradox that if you didn't know something to be true but when you come when when it explain to you as the truth you often know it but somebody he gives the example that like if you know if you've never met a person before how could you know that was the
person but when we come across the truth we know it to be true so his point was that this Paradox that how could you know it to be true unless you knew it previously so they also came up with this uh that we knew before coming into this world uh and the coming into this world has we've suffered this kind of anamnesis this kind of Amnesia and we are then recollecting you know through this process um but yeah I just thought it tied into what what you're saying but yeah wow this um and you know this whole path
and the Maliki maab starting with Imam Malik and this whole path um I want to really how there is clear you know uh like such a strong intertwined reality but you as somebody who you know your much of your kind of learning life has been clearly embarked on both of these you know this path of um I suppose I won't say mysticism but the spiritual spiritual and the of the M
of IM Malik the M of Madina yeah I wanted your thoughts on that that how do you see the these um naturally they obviously you know it's it's all part of Islam but how do you see these congealing the kind of Harmony between these what would you say what are your thoughts is it is is it just arbit is or is it just like as any other or is there some something very special that comes to you about the school of Medina especially um the the the thing is it's you know you were talking about the
philosophers uh it's a very aristotlean understanding you know the M understanding of the dean um again we don't need um do you think the Medan is Aristotelian is that what you think no no uh on this point oh okay the point that I'm going to make is that uh we the M understanding is there's no separation between the r and the J it's
one okay you can't you know separate say this is Rani and this is jman you don't think there is a difference though that the is no no no I'm talking about the dean the M understanding of the dean oh of the dean oh right sorry okay I thought you meant of the human no no no not of the human of the de okay of the dean yeah of the de as in the what you mean by that is when people say like and they is this talking about this yeah this is totally alien to Mad uh
understanding okay there is no separation I'll give you an example uh you know uh the incident where the Prophet s alaih wasallam uh stepped forward he's leading salot he uh he steps forward to grasps and then just suddenly drops his arm and uh steps back again and after the prayer the sahab asked him is that an extra addition and he's surprised
saying did you see me do that yeah they said yes yes and he said I during prayer found myself in Jenna and I passed you know um I Saw The Grapes of grape and I was just about to grasp it and then I realized I was in prayer and that's why I suddenly dropped my arm and um stepped back now that is M understanding that it is an infused reality both are real cuz you know when
uh I came up with this adage you know if you can't experience the sublime in the mundane you're not going to find it because you see prayer is something that is really precious Salah yeah Salah Dua yes Salah okay yeah Salat because you see what happened to the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam here he's leading prayer he's in Jenna at the same time yeah it's something prayer again nothing of the dean is mundane but you know people all
of us take Salat very lightly it's you know everyone does it it's not you know something but you you know to use your word is not very Mystic yeah yeah now but you know look where he where he was yeah then you know uh there's another occasion where the Prophet sallallah alaihi wasallam is praying the two ra of sub no you know the before yeah and for those who are unaware the malakis called the two and we call the
F yeah so uh the prophet is in s and you know the s that is so long the some of the sahaba think that you know he's died some think uh you know no he's gone to speak to his Lord like Moses Moses did the third group think oh he's passed and then he suddenly uh there's another group that think we're going to f miss you know Salat sub he suddenly comes out you know and um leads the Salat sub and then says you
know whoever wants to stay stay uh and then uh he says look I was in sjah and Allah was asking me what you know the an uh tell me what the angels are you know uh debating yeah that was a yeah yeah so this is the understanding that you know it's you know reading up doing you know uh uh extreme uh physical exercises spiritual exercises or you
know doing lot of Quran or fasting or uh Vick or whatever uh is not going to bring something on it's a state of heart state of being you're in it's a state of being you're in it's you know a gift that Allah bestows upon you because he because of you know your thirst for him yeah it's like you know uh where I'm getting this from is IM Malik this is the transmission we have from him this uh you know this man comes to him and
says okay teach me the inner Sciences the what does he say he says go and practice says practice see just hearing that that sounds like Imam Malik would say something like yeah now go and practice it why because we know what happened with Imam Malik you know when he went and started keeping company you know the key that the sufis have I'll share with you the key that the
sufis have is with men they have men that can you know first they might be your companion from a still mhm might be because theoat said there are men when they are seen God they make you remember God yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah true yeah true and um uh the other is that you know W uh with Imam Malik it happened he went and started comping keeping company with one of his shiks
you know uh Muhammad jaff uh jaffin Muhammad sorry yeah something physically happened to Imam Malik by just going and sitting in his majalis and taking Knowledge from him was that when he would do woodo his color would he would go pale oh okay and and um uh uh this was all already the H of Imam jaff
sadik that when he would do wudo his color would um P go pale as well because this is what's transmitted from his grandfather because his state was that as well you know uh alib Hussein IM he the same would happen and you know when um Imam Malik only did one Hajj he just tells you you know the two that he had with him IM jaff Muhammad was that you know when im Malik only did one ha and he did it with IM
jaff sad did he he accompanied IM ja on and and when they went into the state ofam Imam jaf sadik went pale and Imam Malik turned to him and said see I did not think that you were man of a such cuz you see with them to show your state your spiritual state was a sign of weakness you you controlled it you did not you know bear
it uh they were fully aware of these a and um uh Imam Jaffer sadak you know goes you know this is nothing you know my grandfather when he uh um uh began you know the state of when he said Allah he fainted and fell off the horse and he went pale and fell off the horse and he was asked Sidi what happened he said I'm saying that I am God I am present at your service he says what happens if Allah says I have no
need of you Serv that very thought threw him off his horse there it is such a heightened state of being being that they yeah yeah so that's the Imam Malik one of his teachers State and then you know the state of you know Muhammad yeah M yeah the Rahi that Imam Malik trans is no he's he's his teacher as well no sorry no he's teacher sorry sorry I'm mixing it up with the other yeah he's his
teacher and IM Malik is on record he said when I would be perplexed you know didn't know which way to turn I would just go and sit in the mjus of Muhammad and I would Gaze on his face and all my worries would disappear
yeah and this is you know the way of the people of Medina yeah and this is you know yeah they did not separate it it was not you know uh this is one of the reasons why you know uh just two two men two imams of the sufia you know Muhammad uh IM yeah yeah he he's an IM he of the sufia the Sufi say he's the first from us who you know spoke articulated about the r okay W I don't know
that yeah and you know um uh IM Abdul Hakim you know um yeah yeah Muhammad Abdul Hakim or yeah student of IM Malik the other student he wrote to IM stop this okay people will be confused and he is a direct transmitter of the M of IM Malik who is he okay yeah wow yeah yeah I mean
I remember speaks about him in theat and he has a whole biography on him but you know I didn't realize he transmits the M yeah no he he he's one of the r of the M you know the mishki um is he has it in uh then you know um uh um Bishi yeah the great you know Sufi of Bagdad one of the companions of um IM
Ahmed H yeah he's a a narrator of the m so he's someone who heard the M from IM Malik Bish Bish he's a RI no way yes this is the thing that you see the uh uh at that time there was no uh yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah it was men they H you kept company with the men and this is the thing that you know the something that the sufis have
kept yeah something that is lost to others you know keeping company uh it's like you know um uh a magnet will only pull you know Iron it's not going to pull any of yeah no it is so true you know there's that uh the the line of the the poem ofd where he
says that you it is it is true is because that just by meeting some people they can bring either a heightened sense of yourself or or maybe with some people of Allah even that they can bring just by being in their presence by having that kind of knowing of them and um uh the the uh and this was the reality in Medina and this is something that you know the maab has never lost because you know it's something that I call you know
the uh uh job description of the r was you know he came to teach us scripture to teach us what we do not know and wisdom and he came to purify us yeah so the T just read you know the daa of ibim you know when he builds the Caba and then raises his hand uh um Allah sent from within them a prophet you know that Dua uh uh and then
you know uh the final time this Dua gets repeated uh um is in Surah Juma it's really easy to look up Surah jum is just one page it's you can read the Dua there the the t is there the the spiritual growth you know making the rof grow yeah it's it's not just purifying it's making it grow growth yeah you know with this one thing that I've and I want you all to kind of chime in on this and your thoughts on it you
see one thing I've really that has you know in recent years really dawned on me with this whole thing of like there is a flavor there is a I don't know if flavor is the right word even an Outlook or a uh a lens on the whole Dean the whole thing and that is one of divine love or this love at the this kind of Sacred Love um something that nourishes the whole you know all permutations of it then all iterations like it's it's
getting nourished from that or because these very same things you see and this isn't about right or wrong but although I suppose this what I'm saying I'm assuming is is the real way but you could have all these same things but they still have a slightly different manifestation or a different experience or a taste based on this this kind of love I I saw this article flagged up for me recently I follow you know on Academia on the site so whenever I've got certain keywords so they'll always show me an article and it flagged up an
article about two weeks ago on uh Divine love according to different d diverse Scholars of Islam and it was referring to how you're saying the people of God or it referred to them as the love theologians the people of or however those you know of I suppose these kind of sufis or Mystics or these people who speak this Divine love at all times and it was contrasting how they see because everybody in Islam agrees about love to God you know in but then they contrast it with some
thinkers like let's say or some other thinkers who also speak about uh on some occasions about the love of God but they C what the contrast was that some people like they quote T and others when they speak of and this is not saying that this is wrong but when they speak of love of God it's about um you know doing the Commandments it's about a submission it's about having patience it's about you know doing obedience to God avoiding Disobedience when the others speak of Love they characterize it as an actual
love like they're not speaking like they're not saying these things are not things that shouldn't be done of course they should be done but they Define this love as an actual kind of bewildering love like this thought of Imam Malik now in Medina never wearing generally shoes within the city of Medina even though I think I can't the exact number they say maybe even possessed hundreds when he had passed away they found like so many shoes that had been gifted and other sorts that he' he had but that is a kind of a very sacred love that um you know
it kind of transcends words in a way it's um but it's something very def like it's like it's so powerful and and what are your yeah what are your thoughts on this sh this thises the role of that or is it just or is that something you know maybe is it just being exaggerated or is that no it's it's not exaggerated Love is Real it manifests differently um I grew up well I've grown old
uh with uh this understanding from s ham um he passed away in 2017 uh he would say that creation are the dependence of God they are either a veil between you and God or they are a door between you and
God hijab and the thing is when you look at this by the way it's based on a narration Imam Nai uh um transmits it in his fwa from Abdullah Bin Mas um it it's when you're looking at the uh when you look at creation yeah he he's made it it's
his it's his and if if you love him don't you love what is his of course of course yeah and fact that he loves his creation as well like immeasurably yeah of course you know he loves to a different extreme level which is unfathomable by humans it's really really unfathomable you we can't fathom the love that
has for Al wasam because you know the thing you were talking about secret there is a secret in that as well and that is a secret uh but the love the Love is Real how it manifests is different our understanding of that love is different yeah I suppose at a level it could be for some people it could be like the obedience Disobedience yes for some people it could be on a different ma of
actual like radical love like in radical it's see the Hamza would tell us don't hate the Jew don't hate the Christian yeah hate you know the an enemy that is within you within you the enemy that is within you hate that ask for creation you know they're Gods yeah so if there are Gods it's like you know uh Muslims we have this love for anything connected to theat of
course yeah now what about what is connected to God of course yeah I mean it's yeah it's it's there right in front of it front of us surrounding us it's like you know the the you love this this is a you know a teaching story that the Sufi have
um keep in mind it's it's just a story but uh you know the the fish in the sea yeah they're always you know talking so what they're talking about is have you seen water have you have you seen it have you tasted it have you touched it no so every fish is that's what they're talking about they're talking about water and then one day one fish sees this shiny object it bites on it gets pulled out of
the water just as it's leaving it realizes that it's in the water and this is the thing God surrounds us yeah yeah is that realization we don't want to wait till you know we die no we want it now we want that realization now before
we die yeah and everything that is his is beloved yeah everything that is his is beloved and the love is of on different levels yeah just as you know different members of the family the love is different yeah but it's still love
and and Allah's Mercy obviously a manifestation of that love in a way the the it's in its truer sense it's unfathomable to us like we like we we understand some aspects but we're not like as merciful as Allah actually is the way I mean tying into this thing of how much he actually loves us some interpretations that have been given this is where I've read you know interpretations of people like um and where they will speak of even uh
somebody had asked a question here about uh something about suicide and and although everybody unanimously accepts it being Haram but his interpretation was that uh that the this person was being so exhausted of this dun like they he hastened to meet his Lord and in that hastening Allah's Mercy is even more eager to meet him and and so it was just such a different like such
a a lens of you know such Divine radical love that we're not used to hearing we're not used to seeing I mean many people we think you know there was somebody had asked here as well in one of the comments earlier on when we were mentioning uhi and I'm not sure if if you want to go into to that but this whole point of the Iman of or this question of and what I'd been reading on this masalah was that when we the quranic discourse it shows that
there's two there there's two sides of the this kind of there is a narrative with two shades if you like or two sides that there's a verse there's a verse of the Quran that does say that where is saying that for example and I believe in The Lord of Moses and so on God says Al yes so you know that now that the truth has been kind of that you know it's got to this point you've seen impending doom like you're going to be Destro and the generic narrative in the Quran is that usually when people deny a prophet uh and it's too late the
punishment comes and then that's it you know there's a verse saying that you know when a punishment comes that's it but then there is a verse in Surah yunas saying that you know whenever a people denied the prophets a punishment came uh and you know and even it it was too late unas that you know except the people of Jonah they came out and sought Toba and we actually forgave them so so you get kind of two versions or two sides of this you know two parallels of this and this verse of that Allah
says that we will save you with your body uh so you may be a sign for those who come after that uh uh that you know um that many people will are heedless of our signs yeah they don't really take you know they so one General understanding that people took was that Pharaoh died and people um that Allah preserved his body like physical biological the corporeal sense and maybe that's the mummy in the
the museum now and people can see the body and this is a sign and I was reading what I Ari had to say and it wasn't you see because the verse of him saying I believe in Allah and I believe you know uh I believe in The Lord of Moses and the Lord of that's a verse of the Quran but it's just the timing you know he's saying it now that you know I've done all this wrong I've even you know I know deep down in my heart I'm not a God but I've behaved as if I'm you know told people and did all this the greatest the nth degree of sh and and now that I see this impending doom I say well actually you know I
submit to Allah and SOI uh is saying in in what I was reading he was saying that look what is this Ayah that he is what is this sign that Allah says he's made F to be a sign so he says one reading of the Islam how many people are reading it is that this sign is that if you do wrong you will be you know you'll get Justice will catch up with you so you'll be dealt with but he he says that you know but many people around the world believe that anyway even if it like they actually believe that you know if you he
says if you go and ask many people they actually believe that if you do like a lot of evil Deeds things will catch up with you so but Allah says that you will'll make you an Ayah that most people but most people are heedless of this Ayah like they actually don't they of it you know they don't actually turn to this sign of ours he says that that sign was that even at such you know you went to such despicable did of you know he stooped so low uh and did all these atro you know throughout his life especially you know
claiming to be a God doing all of this he got to this stage and at that stage when seeing this he cried out to Allah that even at that stage the divine mercy of Allah apprehended him that the sign was that never dispear but yet most people won't think that Allah's Mercy is that like they'll think it's glorious but they won't think it's to that extent so this interpretation I I mean I found it very like I you know you said like that kind of high it gave
me that experience when I was reading it and I thought just what like just just the concept I'm not trying to say you know people just chill out do everything whatever no no no but this concept of we understand God's mercy to a degree but to such a degree even we most people won't accept it but yet Allah's Mercy is even more vast than what we this this this idea kind of blew my mind I just wanted to share that with you and get you what you I don't know what your thoughts are on that
sh uh I have no thoughts On's opinion that is his opinion yeah yeah but it's his opinion is there there have been you know people defending it and people you know writing against it sure the rule that God has given us yeah yeah don't despair so and from the mercy of Allah and um the extreme to me
uh uh's IM is irrelevant yeah it's irrelevant I mean I was just citing that as an example of the the extreme you know Mercy is that you know Satan has been given a repri till the day of
judgment that's mercy of God his wroth did not come down even you know when God said in a that you know my Mercy will overwhelm my wroth yeah this is the example that you know Satan he's he's become distant you know sh Shan is distant from God to the extreme but God has still given him a repri because he asked for it
yeah so you know should never never never ever it's like like you know whatever situation you find yourself God is there yeah and never think that you know you can get to such a low that you know God will never that he will despise you for example or hate you God will never God wants you to come to him in whatever state and whatever you have done what he wants you to do is
recognize that he is Lord and that you come to him yeah no and you you know in the in most verses of the Quran when Allah is saying things he doesn't like it's always yeah he doesn't say as in like hate and use these he says he does not love yeah or he loves this or he does not love such an act yeah or such a people who do this act yeah yeah because the thing is that you see it's the mercy of Allah that you know our choices he creates them
our choices whatever our choice without judging that choice he creates it yeah he creates it and then he does not judge us for that and then he doesn't punish us for that choice and you know the thing of uh F the uh and on that day you know on Judgment Day yeah he doesn't judge us for our
choices wherever we end up with is not because of our actions what the position yeah except by the grace of God grace of Allah it's his Mercy that you know from beginning to end it's his grace is he he's treating us as we're you know because there is a I suppose regardless of but this this Mercy is a manifestation it ties in it's interlocked with the
concept of Allah's love for for us he loves us in bewildering ways that we can't you know we just cannot get our head around but in turn our you know V of Allah our kind of mindset of God because you know PE that this that you Allah saying that I treat my person as he expects me to treat them like having like coming to that thing that look Allah loves me like he loves me in ways that he is bringing things he's doing things for me he's getting like having this
mindset this is also part of the healing process I mean Allah would still regardless love us but in a way he's treating is he treating us as well in some way how we're expecting him to treat us like in the he he's treating us right from the word go it's something that you know last month um uh City Dr T ABD rman you know he uh was in Turkey the philosopher yeah yeah yeah I shared the lecture um on my
Facebook page um this Malaysian brother um uh subtitled it um you know we were talking about alastu he says we had absolute freedom of choice he gave us even then he gave us the choice without you know judging yeah but am I not am I not he didn't say say he gave us the choice we
had full freedom to choose him even then so you know the mercy has been manifesting from word go the best way you know I can um explain it to you is go to the seaside okay go to the beach okay yeah it's not what I expected as a as the way but okay no no no go to the no you because you know you need to connect and experience something cuz you know uh people some
people won't go and sit with the sufis they won't go and do thck with them they but you know you go and sit in the beach go halfway where the waves come and let the waves overwhelm you physically experience the waves you know overwhelming you coming over you and then leaving and coming over you and then leaving and that is what is happening with you know the mercy of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala it's comes in waves 247
yeah and you know five times a day he he says look you know you can experience it you can fully you know be aware of the those waves they're surrounding us 24/7 different levels different you know some some people get tsunamis yeah totally knocks them right and I I was saying that this I I like even more like sometimes people they
allow like a greater I don't know that maybe Allah has it in a way that the more they have this mindset of Allah the greater you know the doors expand of this rahma that hit them I mean the rahma is always hitting them but some people they they don't allow a certain acknowledgment of it they don't allow a certain so maybe from some things they've kind of deprived themselves with an Outlook like you know they you know like some people become negative people you know they're very negative they're very and bad things are always happening to them you know they it's almost like we were speaking of this attraction and
repulsion that they you know they're always like miserable always like thinking and you know oh this is and now this has happened and now that's happened and and some people they always you know that in all circumstances they have this positive outlook of Allah will always bring to me and you see that Allah always yeah people should go you know miserable people should go and sit with those happy people yeah because it is contagious it is it is it is contagious it is see the Hamza would advise us that you know if you are not moving you know
spiritually go and sit with you know fuk of other cities because that is so true it is you know this kind of I I don't know whether it's an a magnetism or a light or whatever but people this this Vibe this energy this fre people it is contagious like people when you're around people who are positive you become a more positive person yes you you know you were talking about the secret yeah uh so the secret is this that God is known through
men through people yeah through people the heavens won't open yeah just I'm just saying just in case people might think oh only men not women is that what some people might think nowadays we have to no no no men includes women includes women and on a side note we ask you that uh if if that how says women are even of a higher makam in certain ways but yeah I don't know if you well you know the the isar to that is how did begin and where did it begin and with
whom did it begin again okay where was the prophet uh what do you mean like in the womb is this what we mean no we mean as in physically physically physically in the cave no as in okay what do we mean come on I don't know what what when did no where he began as dreams he started see yes oh yes says start in I started to see dreams before the and then he started seeing him physically yeah yeah and who was he
with khad yeah but yeah and you know there's a a verse which an a take once again ofi on when Mary was born Mariam and in the Quran when her mother says this almost like an apparent may you know there's like a reading of almost disappointment in saying oh you know I wanted to kind of devote my child to Sacred worship yeah so I could send him to the temple but I I've given birth to a girl and it says that
you know that Allah is Allah knows yeah now the the phraseology the style of How It's said it it's measuring the male to the female whereas if you following the logic you do it the other way around so if you were doing the logic of because the disappointment in the voice of the mother of Mar's almost with an assumption that a male would have been better so with that line of reasoning it would have said you
know but it said it kind of giving an isar that I was reading thatn was saying that the ishara is that the UN has a greater makam for receptivity of this kind of spiritual State uh if actualized of course but so he was saying this um and also tying into why the you know one reading of the Prophet saying from the most beloved are women you know in his Hadith that this kind of state of potential for a state of being that they have and also theim
being from the word Rahman being a derivative of the merciful this the soul I mean the womb being that but yes um what's the soul what gender is the soul oh in Arabic it's feminine you're right yeah I never thought there you go and so is the Nerfs you know so is the self it's feminine yeah it's feminine yeah I mean the NS I thought yeah I didn't yeah it just wasn't in my Forefront is fine yeah but you you were saying that it's the people the secret is the people
is the people is the company and it's the com it's the the secret that you know flowed from Medina one who keeps their companies never and uh look at you know um uh the First Community we don't call them Muslims we call them the people who kept company theab yeah sah yeah yeah yeah so they kept company with the rasool yeah I see what you said yeah yeah and then the
interesting thing is we don't call the we call them those followed their way of keeping company yeah yeah it's like you know um IIM you know go going back to you know the M link
uh kasim he said um uh he was with the Imam Malik for 21 years yeah so he said I took adab for 18 okay and um I took for three and he said I wasted three years I should have taken more adab wow yeah so the the thing of company is uh the key yeah but there is
a yeah that there is a kind of transperson uh TR there is a kind of energy this kind of that is between people almost and it's carry it's picked up between people it's carried between people it's a you know like a a transperson as in an above just one person I don't mean a transperson but a a transpersonal uh experience yeah it's uh you go to the gym yeah you're a regular at the gym so
you'll notice that you know uh people will say uh this needs working or this needs working or yeah people can see your the level of your Fitness oh yeah and people can see you know where there's work needed yeah or M where maintenance is due and this is the thing with company on the spiritual path that you see people can see your spiritual
progress that they have an a kind of insight a kind of knowing yes yeah and um uh how uh uh that you know um uh Imam fani you know in his um I think yes yes yes he has the great think got I think I've yeah uh when he's commenting on you know the Hadith
jiel um he uh says that you know this the uh the meaning you know of the M they call it okay this R is called why because it encap the IM islaman one that one yes it encapsulates the maab and it shows because you see uh when uh s jelam gets up and walks away uh there are different sahaba who
narrate this um I prefer the uh wording of um Abdullah Bin uh on the definition ofan but again that's a side issue um the I'll share it with you in a minute yeah because I was going to say what is the word but yeah I'll share it with you in a minute but the important thing where you know the Mad thing comes in uh the school of Medina is that s uh sorry om is asked do do you know who
the questioner was yeah and S Omar says Allah and the rasool know best and he says that was jiel who came to teach you your Dean so you know the uh the IM islaman is Dean you can't separate one from the other you can't you know be ignorant sufis and just jump into Tara without having the foundations of the dean Iman and Islam if you do not know what you're doing you got nothing to do
uh uh on the path you need to know your dean and then trans Traverse it yeah yeah and um uh the definition of of um uh ofan that you know Abdullah transmits it's um
not oh right okay it just you know the thing we were talking about that you know uh everything is God's everything yeah work as if God is in front of you yeah whatever you do do it as if God is in front of you if not then God is watching you it's a state of being once again yes yes but but it's if you look at look at
you know Imam Malik's book book it has you know the it begins with yeah ends with why it ends with because there was the science of the was not known as a science when it becomes a science look at you know every major work within our mhab yeah yeah look at you know the foundational one you know uh um the syllabus that's given uh of the western
malakes we begin with right yeah now begins with correcting your you know heart while you know the second one you know again he has IM islaman you go to the Rah again you know you go to the end is the same see the next work is no's work is not he didn't complete it but if you go to you know the uh one of
the last abridgments you know yeah you read the last section he says your thck should be to such a degree that it becomes the blood that flows in your veins and you know the muscle that is on your skeleton that you know your awareness of Allah should be of such a degree yeah and we know with Z would you see it as twofold as one Zar is to
pronounce to say so like like to say Allah Allah's name Allah's and the other it also carries the thing of as in had in his mind and heart to be mindful of uh Allah so would you see as both or only um because when people say because because I feel both dimensions are part of the of Allah uh if that makes sense it's just sometimes we don't hear as much of the mindfulness side uh the prophet sallallah alaih wasallam
said do till you become H yeah uh but so your tongue should move the the whole uh understand your mind uh uh remembering Allah it's not not a problem because the ideal is that you know when the tongue and the Heart becomes one the synchronicity yeah yeah uh so uh whatever you know you understand what the heart is is it your mind is it your soul is it your uh um uh the your very being whatever
you understand it when it synchronizes that you know uh everything becomes one it's like um you must have come across you know um uh Sultan Baho very famous um uh couplets on this um uh what are they now um I can't recall the Punjabi now but it it's that you know his guide has planted a plant within the heart and it
has flowered and it is flowed to such an extreme that you know uh it is flowered in every vein and um uh the Z has to overwhelm you okay you know if if you love God then you know the love needs to overwhelm you yeah uh it's either it's lip service or it's true love and when it is true love
it manifests on you you know they they've got this adage in them uh you know yeah yeah yeah yeah but what that means is you know he can't stop talking about so and so yeah to be crazy about you know in a loving like as in I suppose the whole concept of ma and this whole which is a Trope always used to give us an example yeah and um uh there are hadiths to this effect that you know do till they call you maaf do till they call you mad but
you know uh but true not you know uh for sure it's um uh something that you know um uh uh we were taught you know right from the beginning uh by you know senior uh students of City Hamza it's that you know the has to be for God and God alone and nothing else because you know people will do VI for you know if I do this I'll get so if I do this I want this no it's if you really truly want God then you'll find him in front of you but if it's you know
for other than him then you know he's not created um two hearts in one chest is only one you're either his or other than his he's a jealous uh God it's like you know any lover uh if you really truly love someone you don't want them uh you know even looking at anyone else let alone being with someone any yeah and I feel and is it in in a way as well that you see if
you it's like you then put up this by by not loving God in the true sense you put up a veil by which you don't really get to access the because if we look at that Hadith of you know my servant my person continues to get closer to me and closer to me until you know he does good deeds and he does this and he does that until it says you
see no until I love him yeah sorry until I love him and I love him yes until I love him it's it's the love yeah and when I love him yes you see it says I was the Eyes by which he saw and the Hands by which but I guess Until the Love didn't happen he didn't realize it that Allah was he doesn't get overwhelmed yeah it's the love that overwhelms and this is the thing I was saying go to the seaside let the waves overwhelm you yeah and I've and once
again that I was reading that verse um kind of expressed byi where he reads yes and so you know those who have faith are people of the most intense love so he's kind of I suppose just doing just reading it to there but but I thought wow that's such an like when I read they do that a lot yeah I thought what a what a what a perspective shukran I know I've taken so much of your time today it's been an absolute pleasure and really uh Allah bless you a
mean for you know taking out this my message to all watching listening to you yeah never ever ever forget he wants the best for us he only wants the best for us and uh you forget that you forget him and the thing is the whole reason for life is to love him because he deserves to be
loved yeah he deserves it but never never ever you know uh be wary of him and his Mercy am mean yeah yeah and um never forget the story of the fish either it's helped me it's helped me because you know he he he's with us 247 yeah 247 yeah yeah there was a a quote I shared today I mean it attributed to roomi but the meaning was the same thing that we have this image that God is
