2:31

have i misfelt oh i've misspelt it the muhammad i'll correct that uh william saleh people coming all the way from canada doing it just bringing him right in so first and foremost shukran for coming on taking the time out uh to thank you so much for having me

3:11

man a lot couldn't uh couldn't be us happier it's a great opportunity to uh engage with someone i truly appreciate you you know you say that now uh and then yeah only because we're live the the slack you're gonna get afterwards for it you'll be like [Laughter]

3:38

tell us a bit about yourself for people that are uh that may not be familiar with you a bit of your kind of story arriving to where you are today you know where you come you've converted to islam so just correct a bit of your your background for for the viewers for sure so i i'm for 11 years now from a small town in western canada i always refer to myself as as a racist atheist that's kind of how i perceive my upbringing not necessarily anything that was done by my family but just the society that i grew up in that's how it was

4:17

and 11 years ago i met a muslim for the first time in 2009 and drastically changed my life sure enough she'd later become my wife alhamdulillah but at that time that's that's often what melts the hearts people that's how you see that's the greatest people keep saying of course it's like people keep saying you know we should be this it should it's where it's where the heart goes ultimately that's it if it's iman they'll be like yeah don't worry about it i'm there that's it and so you know i often i i tell people i say you know that i didn't

4:56

i didn't choose islam that islam chose me and and you're referring you believe that your wife has epitomizing islam that she chose me that's it hi sweetheart all right there you go see all this all this goes to her the honor the that's it the the actions right there only the good ones i hope so but but i say that because growing up with no religion with no care for religion in fact very anti-religion um that it took a pretty girl to to get my attention and that's what allah chose to be that kind of

5:35

the catalyst to kind of light things off and those catalysts in the beginning work it's a pretty good catalyst well we've been alhamdulillah we've been married for seven years and two kids later and so from that point on you know and it was interesting because my wife is pakistani and we met at work and we were speaking before about about comedy and when i walked into the lunchroom she was sitting there by herself and russell peters was on tv now anybody knows russell peters is he likes to crack brown jokes

6:13

yeah right hell yeah and and that's right and so i sat down and the joke came on about about somebody gonna get a hurt real bad oh yeah yeah that's a really good one of his studies you wanna you wanna talk about a paradox i'm sitting there and i'm thinking it's a brown joke and and this brown girl is sitting beside me i don't know what to do because i think it's hilarious but i don't i don't know what to do so she started laughing i started laughing thank god she found him amusing she looks at you and says are you racist that's kind of that's kind of where i was hoping it didn't go um but alhamdulillah you know and from

6:52

from then that night we spent about three hours talking and completely changed my perception of of muslims um that right that okay so you don't drink you don't you don't party and you don't do all these things um and then she starts talking about islam yeah nobody's drinking nobody's regular glass this is uh nabeed the hanafi fatwa this is it's just mild fermentation people that's right that's right all the other stuff comes later don't worry about it okay so yeah and then from that point you know i

7:30

began to research islam and and when i did you know i came across all of those things that people from the outside perceive it to be obviously my only perception of islam prior to that was was planes flying into buildings on 911 al-qaeda taliban and and that's honestly what shaped my view of muslims um until i met her and then okay and then i have these two sides right i have this extreme side and then i have somebody telling me the complete opposite and so i at least thought you know what i have to do my own research and kind of come up with my own truth as to what what is the truth

8:08

and so i started to do that and i went after all of the things right like all of the what at least i perceived the issues to be from the outside so the terrorism the oppression of women the the the whole i mean age of aisha like i mentioned and so many different things and alhamdulillah every question i came up with i found an answer for that satisfied me okay um and and then a jamaat came where were you finding these answers mostly google okay um so at the time you're kind of researching yourself into islamic sources exactly

8:45

okay yeah and then so a little bit of help from my wife's father uh or my now wife's father so um people like khalid yasin okay uh was huge for me in the beginning yeah yeah it was one of the actually one of the first islamic lectures i ever listened to was the purpose of life okay and for anybody who hasn't checked that out because it's powerful and for a non-muslim or a person so fresh in faith to hear that it was it did it moved me um and then uh jamaat came to to our town and i was like okay wait a second here i got okay now you've got guys with beards and turbans and the phobe and everything and

9:24

i'm thinking like yeah we'll see what this is that's it yeah right because it's totally foreign because where we were there was no arabs so it was all mostly all pakistanis and they're all just westernized kind of normal looking western people and so at that point you know one of the brothers called the adan it was it was a beautiful setting it was a farm in the okanagan valley it was mugger time and he called the adhan and something i don't know what but it just touched my heart and then i saw them pray and you had you had a guy that was as black as the color black and you had white people dark people medium people everybody praying in this

10:03

jamaat and it was a 19 year old office of quran who was leading them i'm thinking all of these grown men and this kid is he's leading the prayer like it was just incredible to see that unity um that you know what's something that i always wanted in my life and i moved around a bunch as a kid so i never really had the core group of people around kind of sense of brotherhood that kind of fraternity that family absolutely yeah absolutely and and and so i i took my shahada that night one of the brothers said he said and he was a revered as well of about 10 years at the time and he said you know what he said you're going to have questions but if it's touching your heart just

10:42

take the shahadah and then everything else allah will make it easy for you after that and you know allah that it couldn't have been more true um and so at that point i kind of was left to my own devices so to speak and and researching as much as i could and and i guess it's difficult because you're cross-referencing you're learning a lot of things in the beginning and a lot of things when later on you kind of realize you're crazy or or whatever but and then you know i got the call to spend some time in the jamaat and muhammadalilah was a great experience and i spent four months in bangladesh and pakistan

11:21

and what was it was that wait a minute going from canada as a as a white guy who'd embraced a new faith going to pakistan whoa yeah um and you know what i never left the country prior to that so this is like i know i don't even think i've ever been to this dig to the states the first trip i'm i'm leaving my province almost i'm flying to bangladesh and of course i'm thinking well bangladesh is usually hot so i i shaved my head with a bic razor the whole deal completely bald and then i get there and it was we left on december 25th and it was the coldest uh coldest winter in recorded history in

11:59

bangladesh so not my finest moment um and you know what it it was a bit difficult a bit of a culture shock for sure um in bangladesh more so than pakistan at least because we were in dhaka there and the pollution was so terribly bad and it was like nothing i'd ever experienced in my life um i did get to go to the tongi ishtar okay something something to behold the one where they come on the trains and they're like [Music] yeah yeah it was i think it was the last year it was the first year where they had to split it in two because there was just too many people so there was about two

12:39

million people there and when i walked into the the tent they're like okay first here's your chai now where are you guys from and they they have a board and it's like every country you can imagine that is foreign and everybody has their own little delegated space and you just see you see the whitest of people you see uh asian people black people you see the mixes in between i remember was taken aback by the brothers from like kazakhstan and these places they're like huge people but they look chinese and it's unbelievable is it quite organized uh the whole thing is organized it's incredibly incredibly organized and and the fact that it it's such a poor country

13:18

that to be able to do this and you know in the foreign so you have the foreign section and then you have the locals uh the locals obviously don't have it as good when we had a roof which you know tin roof so we it was much better actually we had you know that's it luxury um yeah i know that the arabs the arabs had it better than everybody else okay there was some there was a little bit of maybe favoritism i don't know yeah well you know i'm from quraish that's right i mean and they had red carpets i'm not kidding they had red carpets in their in their area um but you meet so many people subhanallah

13:57

one of my most dearest friends i met barry was from malaysia um and later on my wife and i got married we went to malaysia for our honeymoon and he was like picked us up at the airport man he had the whole plan everything planned out we're going here there and phenomenal like just a lifelong connection and he's like 20 years older than me like but when we were there we're like okay vegemat everybody's bengali or pakistani you're white and i'm malaysian so let's stick together and that's how that's how it was it's amazing the kind of the the sense of brotherhood that sense of uh belonging togetherness

14:36

that that is found in these uh i mean whether it's in these definitely amongst the league these other experiences that are similar very and and i think you know for somebody that's at a very early stage of islam even if he's a born muslim like my initial encounters with but it's that i was new to learning about the faith like properly it is a it is amazing it's a it's just an escape into a i mean i could just describe it as a baptism i guess that's really what you know what what happens

15:16

and yeah yeah it really is incredible to have that and and that's why i'm alhamdulillah i'm so blessed that that that the brothers grabbed me in the beginning um because i've seen so many people come into islam and like in through one door and out through the nap the next um without having anybody there to get a hold of them they just they just get bombarded with um the the rules the regulations that you have to do this you can't do that and and i think you know the the older that i get as a human being or and as a muslim as well is that you know the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam

15:55

he spent over a decade 12 13 years building the iman of the sahaba before all of that stuff came about and and and and do you think about that you think about sitting at the feet of rasulullah witnessing the character witnessing the the miracles witnessing everything and yet it still takes that long to be able to have a faith strong enough that you can just accept the rules and and i look at us now and someone becomes muslim that's it just bombard them with everything like forget about teaching them to pray forget about anything that it's just overwhelming and

16:34

people are like this not for me i can't do it i've said this on uh on a previous show as well that you know one of the most amazing hadith that imam malik brings in the under the section the chapter of good manners is this hadith about the incident of the prophet sending someone where people are about to embrace the faith and it's going to yemen and the prophet in the hadith it says that he he holds his you know the the kind of uh with what's connected to the saddle where he puts the where you place the feet and he he holds that of the horse and he says

17:13

to him that yama's like you know that this is just one this is the hadith that is the hadith and imam malik brings this hadith even though the you know the chain he there isn't a chain to it but he's he says look it doesn't it doesn't matter this is that pivotal for this dean that he he brings it to just say that it has reached me from the messenger of allah like don't worry about the chain this is what the message is and so many people relate this thing of

17:52

like they relate at all the prophet said oh when you go there tell them do they believe in one god and if yes then they believe and fine but they don't relay this important part and this is just you know this part is what imam ali brings and i thought that that's it's so powerful so powerful that has that's it just have good character for people that's it yeah that's it and and it reminds me you know the hadith that you memorized when you were 17 that you built your foundation and understanding of islam i've watched

18:44

and and this hadith i've had sheikh siddiq on one of these mine traps in the early sessions and he used to i used to go to his house as just a teenager and he used to teach me arabic and on his wall he had this frame with calligraphy and i couldn't read this because it was in calligraphic style and i said to him once what what is that and he said oh that's a hadith and you know i'd never heard of hadith being like in this calligraphy on because from a cultural perspective you have like verses of the quran you have idol you might have the shahada allah yeah muhammad things like this but this we'd never heard of a hadith and i said a hadith and he said

19:24

yeah and he taught it to me and that was the first one of the first hadith that i memorized and it served as a backbone for the understanding of this theme that make things easy for people don't make them difficult for sure as how it should be and you know that the the kind of understanding that i have that is really that i kind of the same way that i build my faith upon is is the hadith of rasulallah in which everybody's heard a million times right where the man comes to urinate in the masjid and he doesn't he says just leave him let him do his thing he goes and he cleans it up

20:01

himself as a prophet of allah and then he tells the person you know that this is our house of worship and it's to be respected and and the person declares that he is the messenger of allah the part that gets me is that nobody talks about what happens after that they end it right there right but when he takes him to the people and he tells the people you know to paraphrase i don't know word for word verbatim but that he tells the people essentially that the similitude of you and this person is like trying to catch a horse and put them back where they're supposed to be and and you're cheat you're going after the horse you're chasing the horse and it's freaked out and it's running further

20:39

away yeah it's not coming to you but the simplitude of me and this person is like an owner with a handful of grass i go to it it eats from it and it follows me back to its destination and i think that subhanallah you know to get down the road with with a bit later on but with what i see nowadays especially you know like being on tick tock now and different story but um that we push people away from islam on mass on mass we have you know alhamdulillah we have the saleh family we have half a million uh followers on tick tock on tick tock

21:18

a business selling it's to do with hijabs and and things like that isn't it yeah well so so originally it started my wife has another business and so she got me did i i said this is the stupidest thing i've ever done in my life uh this whole app thing and and then you know we did a video just just kind of poking fun at our cultural differences right the white boy pakistani wife and and it blew up overnight um and but and then so on and so on and so on and so we we kind of make videos about again our culture but we talk about our faith and and and i'm talk by the hundreds and the thousands of people they're so thankful that they're getting

21:58

to see islam in in a positive manner christians like you wouldn't believe that are so happy that they can learn something without being pressured or um but then the other side of it as well my wife is telling me she's connected with one girl and she's she's a reaver girl very very fresh new uh muslimah and she has a dog and of course you can just imagine the people that just bombard her that's haram so she told the people she made a video and said okay well i follow the fifth of imam alec which to me is unbelievable that you're that new and you even know anything about let alone the fact that you're allowed to know that the dogs

22:35

aren't impure but they still they're going and then she says [Laughter] the people push and push and to the point where now she ha she has to tell the people that this is a service dog that that i'm disabled and i have to so now we've we've pushed her so far out of her comfort zone now she maybe she doesn't want to tell you she's disabled but you you're destroying her face so the only thing she has to say is like i have a dog because i'm disabled and i have to have a dog um and it's just the fact that we push people away is the flip side of that coin you know a

23:14

moment ago where we said that it is amazing how islam is i feel perhaps the only faith that has such a global kind of uh familial bond this sense of you know that that your kind of family that you know you went to malaysia this person is taking around he's doing this yeah you know you could go to africa the same thing you could foresee themselves but and that's so um i feel that's just so unique but the flip side to that coin is that equally it's perhaps one of the only faiths where people feel that they have a right over

23:52

you to tell you off regardless of where they're from in the world so they would just like you your cap is wrong you're imitating the conflict and they feel that they that like the way you might have the right like to tell off maybe a younger your own children or a younger sibling or you might say look don't do this like they feel that what's wrong i'm that's this is my right that's right yeah and it it's it's a sickness honestly it's and i've seen it push so i think mike tyson said it best and he said that people are so comfortable in in being a keyboard warrior nowadays because they have no fear of

24:31

getting punched in the face and to me that that ring's so true because how many people are going to go up to you and say oh this this this no no but we're so confident sitting behind the screen because nobody can touch us but we don't think you know what would i really say this to this person would i really belittle them would i really do these things this is the problem as well there's a i say this often that there is a complete um you know a lack an absence of empathy on social platforms some more than others and i i was speaking about this with some friends as well that twitter for example is something i

25:09

don't go on so often because i find it amongst the most toxic of of platforms and and and i feel all the platforms have some toxicity but it's just that there is like no empathy and then you have to also be like that you know to be on the so i yeah i mean yeah it's an interesting how was it on tick tock how were you finding it there terrible

25:39

no um you know what like so because we we have a such a following now and we and we use it we try to do our best to to bring islam to a positive light for muslims non-muslims um and a lot of the times you know someone will ask right what is your opinion on this and and the first thing we say is first first off we don't say anything as haram that's not up to us allah is the judge um and then and then the next thing we say is that there's on whatever particular thing right that there's a difference of opinion on this issue this is the side that we take and this is maybe we'll give some evidences or proofs or whatever but just like that that's it and then you'll

26:19

have people that will just same thing just try to tear you apart and beat you down because you're following i mean there's no ahdilaf in islam apparently that's gone there's no nothing like that anymore um so yeah i mean it can it's one of those things right like you said it it there's a lot of toxicity um but there's also there's so much good i mean alhamdulillah for for people to be able to go on there and and see that wait a second i mean muslims are they're normal like they're just like everybody else and these are their beliefs and this is what they do and and it's it's good and it's bad right but

26:59

to me you know you you got to kind of take the bad with the good and do the best with it yeah no absolutely and you know that very well hell yeah yeah i mean i think you see what it is is that this thing about differences i've said this in the past i feel sometimes people that become religious whether they're born muslims or whether they embrace the faith but people that are drawn to what we call today practicing islam a practicing religion not all of them but i feel a strong percentage amongst like i would feel that it's

27:36

may even be the majority of them but not all but that they i don't know because you see religion by its nature offers some kind of structure like do's and don'ts so you find sometimes people that are drawn to it are drawn to rules and they're the kind of people that are drawn to a black and white world they're kind of like what i call um that they're not necessarily i don't mean um i i kind of give a similitude with the kind of like autism but it's not they're not autistic in the sense the socially autistic

28:16

but there's a kind of like of religious autism where they are drawn to order structures black white yes no do don't and haram halal and you see religion really when you get into especially islam it's there is some black somewhat and there's just a hell of a lot of gray [Laughter] yeah so i i feel that you see this ambiguity doesn't settle well with people like they can't take a difference like what what why do you disagree why do you do things differently you know and i don't know how you felt

28:55

about that when you first came to the faithful then your experience with other people afterwards for sure like it was difficult um and in the very beginning so like after i came back alhamdulillah from the four months um i got married right away and that was that was to me that was a great blessing um and then from that point i really excuse me was able to kind of spend more time just kind of outside right not having that that kind of extreme kind of hands over you that you this is what you have to do this is what you

29:34

have to do because because once you once you understand that differences exist on so many issues that what i mean like for example music music is a big one because my time in the tableage was i didn't listen to music at all that i i was of the opinion that i was told to to kind of believe um that it was haram and then i started to begin to research was music a big part of your life before islam oh of course of course i mean not not to an extent where that's all i wanted to do or whatever but i mean i

30:13

i believe you know that music plays an integral part in society that if we look at i always use america as an example i mean they can be used as many examples but uh for this one in particular that you look at the generations right the 50s the 60s the 70s the 80s and 90s it's all defined by music yeah how people dress the culture the you know so if we completely remove music from culture i mean what are i guess what we're left with is that that's um the fact it's kind of like we can't dress like the kuffar we can't look like them so we're left with an an

30:51

arab version of society that we've taken out all the extreme things or we've implemented rather all of these extreme things and we've kind of washed culture so that everyone is going to look the same everyone's going to sound the same everyone's going to have the one belief and this is going to be easier which i think is is kind of a fallacy that falls short on so many accounts i have to say that's very interesting i never i mean it's it's it's obvious but i never thought of it in that way of identifying errors just through their music i mean when you say it's absolutely obvious and it strikes you know it comes straight up

31:29

but i never thought about it like that especially uh in the west i would say this more so than other parts of the world there's just this like you're saying the 80s have a type of music associated the 70s the 60s 90s yeah that is very fascinating actually but but but everything as a whole right because like the 60s you have the music but the music influenced the entire culture the people dressed like like when the beatles showed up everybody was dressing like the beatles they were you know and and the whole style and everything and with each generation the hippies there was this thing part of the hippies and the anti-war

32:09

movement and this whole you know drugs and drugs in the sense of a kind of form of rebellion to the state in a way that we you know we can absolutely reconquer our own minds it's our property and i think it's associated with the music of the time yeah absolutely absolutely um yeah so don't let me get back to quickly what i was talking about before before i digress so largely um that you know when i did come back i began to kind of take hold in the masjid where i'm from i began to lead the salah five times a day for four years or so i began to do a lot of

32:48

public speaking for the masjid for schools for interfaith projects for non-muslims and that really kind of accelerated my want to know and to understand how we can kind of correlate islam and the west and and and show people that it's not something that is so foreign that can't work together which we seem to kind of push that narrative as muslims unfortunately i mean did you not get a lot of pushback with that because i mean obviously you're coming as a convert i'm sure to some people they may be seeing you as you know what does he actually know about islam and then i mean i'm sure even regular

33:26

muslims get that but then on top of that you're getting this you know you're coming out with these like old music or did they just see us like the other way that oh it's okay he's a new muslim let him off yeah you know what the full spectrum the full spectrum that you have you have it depends on the muslim right so if you have the the people who are born in the west like from a secular country like turkey for example everything that i did was like whoa what an extremist what an extremist right he grew a beard oh my goodness well yeah right and then you have the other side that's like the hardcore conservative you know

34:04

born in pakistan tabli jamaat whatever and it's like everything is haram you can't do this you can't do that and it and again it's it's one of those things that there's ebb and flow but most definitely i mean what do you think it is that cause that is difficult for people to accept about diversity of you because people don't want to accept that great they like they they recognize the black they recognize the white and then they're like well what do you mean like some people music is it's okay according to some you know even the hazard show keaney uh whoever you want to mention nabaluci or these people

34:43

what does that mean like to people it's like there's one god so tell me what what so when people because i i see that with people converting as well that a lot of people that convert are also very strict i find them sometimes and yeah so i mean in your thought what what is it that's difficult to embrace about that gray and it's the same way right that in the beginning because i had that and you know what alhamdulillah no hate to the league brothers i love it and it was a great thing for me at the time

35:21

right but i think that i think that a problem that a lot of people have is that is that it it's almost like islam is meant to be this this 1400 year old thing that is just meant to be stamped out each generation as it goes rather than adjusting not adjusting but islam is for all times right and we have to accept that we have to accept the fact that it if it is forever and it is meant to be the last and final revelation that there has to be within it that it doesn't make life miserable for people allah made it easy for us and i think that when we talk about

36:00

people not being able to accept differences i think that a lot of it has to do with not so much the younger generation because i find having spent a lot of time you know i've crossed this country i've been all over pakistan and and i always the youth were always drawn to me just because of you know me and my upbringing and you know tattoos whatever else show us one of your thoughts man what's going on there you go all right what does it say actions speak louder than words look at that so you have and you know

36:34

from your neck of the woods i listened to one of his zester yeah yeah yeah great speed and you know he said that you look back a few years ago and before youtube before all of this that you had the people in their village or their town and they had their imam and they listened to him and there was no difference because they didn't have access to the outside world and this is this is why my father-in-law is so funny because he's he's been in canada 40 years right his english is terrible right he's he's of the the old school mindset right that when he sees when he sees someone come to the masjid and and pray like in subtle that

37:14

hands down he asks me he's like it's like is he shia like he just doesn't doesn't know that there's there's different i mean he's you know he's almost it's almost 80 right but because that's what he learned and that's what he grew up with that it's difficult for people to accept there's a different opinion about something even something as like salah that we all know like that there is huge differences in terms of aesthetics really um but it becomes difficult for people i think that we get stuck and we don't want to give we it's it's our own attitude that we there's no bending right i'm not gonna say this because then i'm not right

37:53

i like to be right all the time and if i'm not right that's it what about these issues like tattoos and stuff like this did you ever end up speaking on that or getting into a bit of a locking down i mean yeah it's absolutely like on tick tock for sure because you know we're always on there and i'm i don't hide what i am and who i am i guess you could say and and and it's like well don't you know tattoos are haran like uh so we don't we don't take the time to think like wait a second he's a white guy he's got tattoos you know if you go back you can see my story you know who i am i mean most people

38:31

so even they just they want to attack right rather than say you know what maybe there's some more of the story we just want to to throw it out there um from from my community back home no they were super cool they never they were and they were they're all like i said they're all pakistani right um and but yeah people that people that don't see you face to face are always the people with the biggest problem [Laughter] plus i feel that you see what it is is that religion gives people a uh not genuinely but people take from me a

39:08

license to stamp authority around you see it's interesting like i i mean i'm a mufti which is an actual license to issue fatawa to issue things to say things are haram to say things are and and i feel that no but that's not the actual no one is passing rulings but to stamp it on people is not the actual teachings of islam but that is the number one thing that people love to do like people will be like you know if you give these people authority like imagine they had mufti authority

39:44

like it would be fatah no but nobody's left being muslim because we're all good you know when i said this that look that it's interesting there's an obsession with trying to bring people into islam and uh and all people do is once they bring them in they're just busy trying to check them out then i bring them in and then they're nice to them for about a week and if it's if it's a woman they're just trying to marry her and if it's a guy then they're just like oh well you know oh masha'allah

40:22

and then if he's not really you know fully fledged out with the cult a week later or two weeks later they'll be like he's a deviant you know we should [Laughter] misguided deviants too many and that's the interesting thing that you know especially that we see on tik tok so many people have become muslim and they've messaged us and they say that because of your videos that i became muslim and and like we're just blown away that people are seeing without being pushed away i mean people in the comments obviously they do a great enough job of trying to push people away um but

41:02

when you see like again the the parable of the horse that what are you doing if if the stall is is is is jannah is is where we're all trying to get to right in whatever sense of understanding that we're trying to bring people to it we're not trying to push people in the opposite direction but yet we have this it's almost it's it's especially on tick tock because that's where we're mostly at tick tock is it is it difficult to control the the comments and things because i i do have tick tock and all i do is occasionally just put some kind of a ridiculously laughing clip on there and then i don't check it so you see i i'll put it on there and

41:42

that's it now i'm not going to really check it so but but is it quite because some platforms instagram isn't that difficult to moderate actually to to kind of if people are hating just to block them or to do things uh is it as easy or is it difficult on it's it's pretty easy um they've it's a very user friendly okay by the way the the clip i uh that you posted i just saw the other day but yeah and the the big d i couldn't hold back it was that if you guys haven't seen it go and check it out yeah it's worth it that's on tick tock isn't it i put that on i use that on all my

42:20

monday nights with mufti whenever i'm trying to make a point that there's the jal with the little d the jar with the big d you know this this is absolutely this opens up the floodgates to you see my sense of humor and humor in general i mean yeah um i know we spoke briefly on this but you see this is another thing because it isn't really pictured people have this image of islam and what it means to be a good muslim and people for some reason okay okay first of all this point what is people's problem with people

42:58

laughing like i don't people seem to not really settle with other people laughing i mean they don't mind it as a just a one-off watching some comedy and somebody everybody's laughing oh no you can't watch tv but generally like in in day-to-day stuff people seem to and i notice this in in many walks of life like i'm not just being in a religious i remember many years back when i uh you know worked in um more in a career sense almost a decade ago so at that stage as well i found people didn't like

43:37

you laughing like they felt you know like it disturbed them i don't know what it is i don't know if this if this is making sense yeah no absolutely absolutely and you know what if you spend enough time in the jamaat you hear it over and over that that we should we should what is that we should laugh less and we should you know think about death more and and i think it's almost this kind of morbid mentality that yeah that would just kind of like we as muslims should just we should always be thinking of death and and never be but i mean if you look at the advice of the prophet sallallahu alaihi and and the for one of the four things

44:16

you can do to to gain into to paradise is that is that when you're blessed with something that you're thankful for it right and then if you're prevented from something you have patience um and but we it's like if it's a blessing and allah has given us a blessing um should we not then be happy should we not be you know and i find that you see people are not anti i suppose if you're happy they're not gonna say anything like oh don't be happy but i find especially with things like laughter because it's an active expression of i suppose if you're just

44:56

sitting there like you know just a little smile i suppose people ain't gonna really say anything but if you're laughing i just find it amazing that society as a whole doesn't seem to and i don't know you know it's interesting the psychology with it like there's an element that do they associate it with uh you see because it's attributed to the madman isn't it it's attributed to people who are not to to laugh is almost to be insane in society that's right and the joker exactly and to be sane is to be kind of somber and like you know because you are

45:34

serious about stuff and this because one of the things i people would say to me before when i used to lecture and stuff like this uh i don't mean islamically when i when i taught uh schools and colleges and people would say oh um you know oh because because you're laughing like they would assume that this would that that oh you you're not getting any work done like you can't be somebody that actually works if you're laughing because right surely you must just be you know how so it's all a joke yeah and i find this uh but then i find what's interesting is the sense of humor as well i find like

46:13

sometimes my sense of humor now is uh is you know like part of a dying breed [Laughter] it feels that way it really does because you can't laugh about anything yeah you get told you can't make a joke about anything yeah what the hell what the hell do you think you're doing it's politically incorrect that's right even if you even if you don't make a joke about something it's like how dare you not make a joke about something no there's no winning in in today's oh yeah i mean i just cancelled i feel the question yeah i feel sorry honestly i was i was telling you i i was thinking the other day that you know i wonder where the world will be

46:52

in 30 years time or 40 years because i suppose people with this sense of humor whatever remnants they are they're definitely less so amongst younger people and as people kind of age out and die out the world will just be a strange place i guess it depends if trump's gonna get another four years ago see how the future goes yeah there you go that'll be interesting yeah you know i speaking of humor the just to get your view on it i had um there had been this whole fiasco about me commenting

47:30

on the christ church joke now i had said that you see even no matter how much we disagree with humor we shouldn't people should still have a right to make certain jokes i wonder what your what are your thoughts on something like that because those jokes could be offensive they will be you know i mean what should people still have a right to make them for sure i mean i'm i'm of the opinion maybe like you said maybe we are a dying breed but um that that life and laughter and and being happy and and making jokes

48:09

it's it's completely different right as a comedian to go up on stage as we were talking about it to make a joke about something he's they're not it's different than if you're standing and you're making fun of someone because the color of their skin one is one is defined one is completely ridiculous and wrong um and and i i totally agree that i think that once we start kind of canceling culture canceling comedy i mean comedy is it's been around forever it makes people feel good we laugh whatever once we start restricting that now we're getting into restricting the freedom of speech and the things that you can say and the things that you can't say

48:48

um and i'm not sure about where where you are but but here in canada we have that you know as we talked about like islamophobia it's a crime in canada and once you once you and again i am not for it i'm not for legislating what people can or cannot say that when you do that now you've opened up kind of a can of worms that people can then sit there and and use that to justify their ill actions that as i mentioned that you know if you beat your wife and someone condemns you for you can say no no that's islamophobia because my i'm allowed to because my book says or or whatever whatever ruling you might be wanting to take um that now you've you've made it so

49:28

that people can hide behind it um extremism same thing you can hide behind it and say no no no no that's islamophobia go away and then and then people are so scared especially in canada that we just we keep our mouths shut because we don't want to have any repercussion from it because no i totally agree because i understand islamophobia generally to mean if you're going to discriminate against someone based on their religion especially being muslim then i would be in favor of that uh legislation under discrimination and equalities act so if people so for example if a girl had a hijab on and you're not going to give it the job or the guy had a beard

50:07

and you think well you know this guy's going to be an extreme i ain't going to give him the job so that i agree on um as far as critiquing religion i feel that people should definitely they they always have a right to critique anything if they want to critique islam they have the right to and i don't think and i say this time and time again i don't think we as muslims should ever be insecure yeah i think a lot of the times that's what it is is that we are so insecure that you know and and and to touch on the age of aisha thing right we're so insecure that now we've just come and and i'm guilty of this when i

50:47

became muslim that was one of the issues i had and because i didn't know enough about it i thought okay well you know what i have to try to justify this in my own mind because i mean it was one of the issues i had with my father that you know that's one of the big thing that he brought up and it was and now i'm going down that road of well i'm so insecure about it i have to justify it so now i'm saying well you know at the time and it's 1400 years ago and people developed and all these things and then but now if you again if you realize differences of opinion exist if you realize that you can be wrong that's okay um that there is another side

51:25

then it gives you the ability to kind of say you know what i don't have to be insecure in my faith that that but muslims today honestly i mean it just seems like we're so insecure that that my what what i believe is so holy to me that what you believe could never possibly be right yeah and this age of aisha thing i find it so um i've said that i feel sometimes these things are a reactionary bravado effect it's almost to the extent that people what they do is they they kind of

52:02

try to own it in this act of bravado uh as a reaction it's like yeah and yeah and he married a six-year-old and what you know this kind of uh and and i find that so disgraceful but it does tie into this that why are not so many people challenging it and many of them just because i mean there's many people who are just so um insecure of themselves like they need validation from other people like they can't like i can't speak for myself i need uh until such and such elder doesn't kind of give me a pat on the on the back and say go for it

52:41

and he's never gonna do that he's just like you know it doesn't bother me and yeah so that that is actually a very strange one because imagine check this because imagine the hypothesis that imagine there was no cultures we're starting from a level plane um and you told someone that look okay we're gonna uh tell you things about the profit and you know you can learn about the profit but you are let's say over a thousand years after him uh naturally common sense will say some things won't be authentic some things will be um and and you it's fine you know you can use your whatever understanding now if you were to tell

53:21

someone and imagine we said certain things like somebody said something disrespectful about the prophet like the prophet was a tyrant and people would go that's no way you know part of islam doesn't go against goes against his character or imagine somebody tried to say oh the prophet stole something and you'd be like well no that goes against his character i'm not going to accept that imagine so if you were to tell someone on a you know on this level plane that look if i was to say oh the prophet married a child surely they would reject that they would say no no no that doesn't make any sense and it's only because you know that they're in this

53:59

system of things and that there's a hierarchy they're not allowed to have their own opinion they're not allowed to yeah otherwise that's just so shocking that you think everybody would agree in saying well that's definitely bs and i think you know with the parable of like christianity we don't have a pope that dictates what we believe and it dictates how it's to be understood um and that's where it it opens everything up that no we we we should have that critical thinking and saying like wait a second it's not just saying he married a six-year-old if that's what you're saying

54:38

and it i mean you look at it today and and the i mean people are making cartoons mocking the prophet salallahu because of that thing and rather than us saying wait a second guys you got it all wrong we're saying well yeah so what so what right well how are you going to get mad at that when you know what i mean like it's it's it's mind-boggling i'll tell you what i found as a complete uh you know uh i find sometimes this um certain hard-line muslims will be sharing articles now i agree with the sentiment of those articles where they might say

55:16

oh let's say certain things are trying to legitimize pedophilia or there was this uh netflix program and they're trying to say look it's showing this about young children it's showing them in a sexual light or or sometimes there's some newspaper articles and they're trying to say look in some country people are trying to fight for this and and they're trying to raise this uh you know don't sexualize children don't do this and and that seems spot on and then i think but wait a minute there's such an irony here because you're the same people that are defending i had i had this exact conversation with

55:56

my wife no way about that show okay i said how is it that muslims can they stand up and just cry out about something like this and then in the same breath say yeah she was sick yeah i'm you know i'm cool with it like what like where is your where is your head people oh it's mind-boggling i mean that is shocking because i've always found that so hypocritical that how can you be so outspoken which i i agree with that outspokenness but then yeah ironically so supportive of something which is worse because you've got a program where you're you're

56:35

trying to say let's say an 11 year old or something or 12 year old and they're sexualizing them and you're being well that's all wrong which fine and then you're saying well okay half the age and that's okay and not just accept it but but do everything in your power to justify it right and i mean i someone had uh commented on facebook i commented on somebody's thing and it kind of blew up into this big thread and and the person just said well you know that back then people girls matured at a faster uh quicker rate so there's nothing wrong with it and so i i thought for a second i said

57:14

you know do one google search about that and you will find that today yeah yeah yeah girls are maturing faster than at any other time in history and it's articles because there was malnutrition there was you know they're not taking and it's like wait a minute nobody develops at that age what the hell are you one about it doesn't work like that and and the worst things i think where people uh you know like in muslim culture there's this um well my mom says this okay so you're trying to catch me out so i catch your imam so yeah so for example you're dissing imam abu hanifa and i say oh but ibn samia said this

57:52

so in a similar way some muslims apply this bulimic logic to non-muslims so they say oh but king richard ii yes and they're like who gives a [ __ ] about king richard yeah this is you know and the crazy thing is they somehow think oh we got them they think oh but you know king henry or king you know whatever did this and the person's thinking well anne you know what sorry is that is that a point like you think you've got me that's it and and we use we use it's such

58:31

ridiculous logic that we love to call out to call out christians right muslims we we're vehemently just like you got you i mean your books are inauthentic or unauthentic and blah blah blah blah blah blah and nothing makes sense and all this but and then you take a hadith and you say no that's it and i i gave my wife this example i said that it seems like when you look at muslims today if you have like a racist person come up to you and say but the quran says kill them wherever you find them right lay and wait for them besiege them kill them clearly that's you talking about killing them and then so we as muslims say whoa whoa whoa whoa we have breaks we say there's context did you read the verse before did you read the verse after did you read everything else about it

59:11

uh you know is the hadith about what did the prophets say companions the hadith says this yep that's what it says no no but what about i'm sure there's no no no no no no that's it there's no explanation there's no background no that's what it says that's it take it like what what kind of logic is this um a big one that that blew up for us was was the plucking of the eyebrows no way right you want to see i can see yours are quite neatly plugged in yeah you're rocking it man you're rocking i do my best guys i do my best right but you know someone asked like what is what is your view on this and i said well in one of the videos difference of opinion for sure but

59:50

we don't take the view the opinion that there's anything wrong with it and not only did i do that i said you know i kind of toned it down and i said that um you know for for married women i use that context that you know there's people have different opinions and not only that i cited all of the references and the fatah like mufti evan adam was one and he went through broke down all four schools and the opinions and and then you know the daughter of thought and their opinions and stuff and just this just you know and it's still never good enough it's absolutely haram haram haram and no matter what you say you can never justify it and that's the kind of like it's one of those things man it's like you're like you know it's okay i don't

1:00:30

want my uh wife to to always look like she's it's halloween that's right it's one of these right cyclops that's it man yeah so and and another one that we get uh quite frequently because you know because we do have um hijab business now um kovid has been great for us alhamdulillah you know it's been a blessing right um so our hijab company is la la hijabs right live authentic love always okay i like that live authentic yeah love always love always my five-year-old my five-year-old came

1:01:10

up with the name i i thought about it i was like you know what let's go with it but your five-year-old said live authentically love always no no no no no wow i was about to say you know this is a bit of a i don't know if this is authentic or not one of the chain of narrators might be a bit weak on this one probably this guy um so because we do she does the her own tic tac for just the hijab company and then and we do so people ask like what is the hijab and the view and this and that and and that's one that that people just can't get over they cannot like

1:01:48

i'm not i've heard you view on it a little bit um you know dr shabir ali and same kind of thing and and it's one of those things where it's like okay the verse of the quran says what about the hijab like the head scarf not the veil right no the mumbling and the stumbling and and so we people say that you know what whatever god has given to us we can either take it or we can leave it if we take it there's blessing and reward for us if we leave it then it it's nothing that's going to benefit us and it could actually harm us but so many people they come up with that and and then and then like the

1:02:27

the haram police shows up it's i don't know if they have like a a sensor or something that when one of these videos pops up man they just bombard on it come on the iman exactly exactly you know the hanapi fifth channel is showing up on mass and they're like hey guys what's going on here right oh they can't stun me at all they can't they need to take a page out of their own book and drink some nabith that's it that's it guys come on because you're not but you know and no i was going to say this thing is so

1:03:05

fascinating in the sense that look i'm saying fine i've definitely said look for over a thousand i would say probably for about 1200 years at least it has definitely been part and parcel of the muslim society the muslim culture now i've never spoken against it i've just highlighted that i feel that there is a valid difference of opinion and i feel that you know if people didn't want to weary they have ground not weary but what's interesting is when you get into a discussion with someone and i will say to them okay if they and it's interesting it's either the hijab with women

1:03:45

for of women or it's the beard of men yeah and i will say you know what's interesting i will say bring me one sahih hadith or verse of the quran that's clear in either of these being obligatory just one i mean there is not a single verse of the quran or a single sahih hadith that is clear i don't mean where you are inferring uh you know you it has to be it's like what the uh you know some of the uh yeah it can't be ishara tunnels

1:04:25

it has to be the clear this is the reason why the text came and this is what it's saying it's unequivocal it's nothing i mean and that's shocking considering if you know if you feel this is so important yet there isn't a single sahih hadith to support it and people get frustrated and if you tell them that they'll be like [Music] [Laughter] okay that's my impersonation people have a problem with my personality

1:04:56

because they because they're too scared to laugh that's that's it man it's uh somebody said on there that yeah oh he he's i took it as a compliment actually they said you know his trumpian style of humor i was like i was like alright i like it associating me with power because you know yeah no i find it interesting it's just it's all wrapped up into this kind of mix that people just they can't get over and no matter what evidences or proofs you bring you know that was in this particular one and again i can't speak out against hijab neither

1:05:36

can you because i have a job no i haven't it's mandatory you have to wear it guys there you go lala is the one people anything else is la this is la la that's it that's right but i just no no i just feel that it's the attitude you know there's that this uh video i have on and i know we mentioned it before the war wager paradox yeah and and this is a prime example of showing in that if you haven't watched that guys it's on youtube check it out it's it's it's been there for a little while it's where i'm showing a very popular hadith

1:06:13

that people claim is motawatir that you know so it's holds the same strength as the quran according to them it is transmitted according to them by i believe over 17 companions if not more transmit it now and this hadith is the one where the prophet says i have been commanded to fight people until they say the and the only thing that will save them and save their lives save their blood from being shed is that they say that this if they say that then their

1:06:52

blood and their wealth is preserved otherwise it's open season now the shocking thing is that this hadith despite being motherwater despite being you know according to these scholars i obviously don't believe in motherhood but let's say this concept now yet none of these scholars take that hadith at face value like they say no no it doesn't mean that it means this no no because nobody says that you can just go around killing people unless they say nobody believes that and that definitely wasn't the life of the prophet you know we used to go around just killing someone so and yet this

1:07:32

same hadith is so widespread so the paradox element is it then defeats the whole uh the the kind of franchise of the island the chain being so you know compelling because you've got something absolutely compelling you say oh well put the brakes on we don't practice it so because it means something else but yeah if it means something else nobody transmitted it in the other way so yeah i just find that very uh fascinating about these paradox things yeah it's definitely interesting and it's interesting how

1:08:10

like we as as common people that we don't even acknowledge that differences exist or can't exist or or when you say that you know i follow imam abu hanifah's opinion or imam malik's opinion about this thing and they're like well so you follow who you follow you follow rasulullah you follow these people and you think like okay wow this conversation is clearly going nowhere so i'm just going to kind of close the door you're like where's that alcoholic sorry quasi-alcoholic drink of mine that's right yeah i mean and it's it's so frustrating honestly and we we we don't value differences of opinion how do you put up with it because you

1:08:49

know you're a new muslim i get asked all the time how do you put up with all this uh you know people try and give you slack online they try and hate on you how do you put up with it i fight back usually yeah no i mean i i had one guy he said uh what was it about uh i forget what the the topic was but he said um okay so now we're now we're taking our religion from a white guy and so i thought okay okay so in the comments i said well you know what i said the ulama of saudi arabia they really love somebody by the name of albani i said guess where he from albania do you know any dark-skinned people from albania

1:09:28

they're all white right so take your religion from from who i mean white with blue eyes that's a lot of people don't know that he was actually blonde and he had blue eyes and he was white and this is why uh you know they would refer to him as obviously before it was so fashionable to be blonde that's right imam malik was rocking it as a blonde kid in medina [Laughter] yeah no i mean i i usually again like i tend to kind of con confront head-on usually

1:10:07

um does it get you down it does at times for sure and it doesn't it doesn't bring me down to the fact that that people are so negative it brings me down in the fact that that they they themselves have such a toxic kind of understanding that to to and i always always go back to like the people uh the new muslims especially uh one that we see a lot of on tick tock is that uh people will message us and they'll say you know like i'm a new muslim um that i i just started wearing hijab or you know they tend to wear the turban style hijab yeah

1:10:47

and they just get bombarded that that's haram haram haram haram they say well if not for that i would never have been able to be even comfortable wearing hijab yeah that everybody starts from somewhere and and not everybody's journey is going to be the same and not everybody's kind of level of where they are is going to be the same as yours but people can't accept that and to me that's the part that brings me down it's not i mean yeah and you said that you're you do that as a couple isn't it you and your wife yeah and so i mean because sometimes i don't know like i feel that if you're facing a lot of hate i mean this isn't in a sexist way but i'm just saying i find that sometimes it hits

1:11:26

women harder in the sense that they will if they're facing a lot of hate is that does it affect your wife worse or is it oh yeah yeah yeah um yeah she she's she's much softer than i am i mean i mean that's to be honest that's just kind of how she grew up right so she grew up a very sheltered life and i grew up a life that you know if you do say something like a slipper coming flying it's like sheltered it's like that's right that's right well you know what looking back she's proud of it she's proud of it because it kept her away from from so much evil of society absolutely um and you know and me again the opposite side that if you have a

1:12:06

problem with me and you don't come and tell me to my face we're gonna have a problem when we see each other right um so i i it doesn't bother because i know 99.9 of the people who are out there just typing away they're they're most of them are just cowards uh and and they have such a poor understanding of uh of islam in my opinion um to not accept others to not accept opinions to just pass past fatwa and with no credentials or you know education you know i said on i've said it on more than one occasion by the way but i've said on some of my shows when when asked or just asked for advice that i've said that

1:12:46

religious bubbles are just incredibly toxic and i've said that i actually advise people to dissociate themselves kind of like disenfranchised from religious bubbles and just be with normal people so if they're muslim they're just regular muslims like that maybe they don't pray they don't do that stuff but they're just muslim i found that the the kind of those that are very expressive of islam like they you know that they are very oh uh you know it's like in surah

1:13:24

so i i find that these people that want to stamp islam and other people they want to police other people wanna they are just toxic man like and and i feel that life is just so much better when you're just with normal people absolutely yeah i feel i feel i feel really bad for for their wives i couldn't imagine living in such a around such toxic people you know and i think of the debacle of shaykh um and i and and then you see you know and you scroll youtube and it's like let's expose him let's tear him apart yeah yeah and i mean i you know and i it's funny i

1:14:03

was speaking to somebody about this just recently i said that look okay i do obviously have my joke and a laugh about [ __ ] stuff sometimes and recently i know he spoke on uh which i was saying he spoke on the sacks he spoke on oral sex and masturbation and and i was obviously having a great laugh about it but you see i have no zero and i say this wallahi you know lies my witness i have zero hatred for him or anything like that i don't have any malice in my heart but yeah i do kind of if he does certain

1:14:42

things i will kind of like i find i find it as an opportunity for a joke and a laugh and i do feel in a way well you know because he it's kind of like what he's facing is kind of part of the frankenstein that he created as well and it's kind of coming back and and i do wish he would just disown that all together and just be himself because he's kind of like got one foot in both you know he's trying to be rational but trying to be with the dogmatists and trying to and it's just you know it's just it's making him do splits man and and you know he's his cajones are just in the middle and there's a shark coming

1:15:22

and that's the thing right that i don't i don't think that we see enough of is it's easy for i'm not going to name names but other people they know to sit down and and and and help kind of pull those legs apart um but rather than you know to stand up for each other as muslims that we we that's like a big no-no like how there's no way that so-and-so would stand up for you because i see when people hate on him now i do kind of mark or ridicule or kind of satirize and laugh about it but i i see people like there's a malicious you know like i said see as a human being you can tell it's a

1:16:01

you know there's a malignant nature to this they ah there's a lot of that kind of like and i think that's just jealousy they have this kind of jealousy that he's obviously you know because of who he is and they're trying to just proper sure yeah wow yeah these are but the same thing like 10 years ago they would have been loving the guy yeah absolutely but 10 years ago he hadn't made his u-turn i guess

1:16:32

uh or maybe he had him exactly [Laughter] that's uh well but i find you know and just to touch on that you know that i spent a lot of my time like growing up before islam that i always felt insecure around people um you know i got when i was like myself i was like yeah so when i was 12 i was like 100 pounds and and i got beat up um pretty bad and so it kind of gave me this you know anytime and that's why i didn't like to go out and party as much as a lot of other people because i always had this kind of never being comfortable around

1:17:11

people and and i think that with islam that it it it opened it up you know what i mean it made it for me at least that the acceptance of people i was you know praying drama today that you know i go to the masjid i never have this feeling like oh god here we go i'm gonna have to get into a fight because somebody's got a problem and whatever right that muslims in general that the accepting nature that we're supposed to have of each other um you look at the likes of imam imam malik when they would discuss an issue for hours and hours and hours and and at the end they would you know

1:17:51

walk away and that was it there was no like there was no book exposing imam abu hanifa for his you know deviant ways or you know i mean imam shafi and what he said about his teachers you know that's his own his own scholarly opinion even when they even when they do disagree with passion uh it's like imam malik disagreed you know as ya said he would say with passion [Laughter] but the same thing but they were still that they weren't about chucking other people out of islam over it you know they had the way like to imam malik was it was like look

1:18:30

this is our way and we think he's wrong and he had the same thing we think he's wrong but it's not about trying to chuck him out of islam or trying to say he's a coward yeah we want to destroy his career and make sure everybody hates him and they're like it's that cancel culture man it's terrible terrible poison that's you're doing it you do in it that's you know out of curiosity where did you come across my my videos and stuff because i've not really asked asked you that yeah yeah so you know you know what it was an interesting time and i mentioned before you know working on airplanes and and i was i wasn't new to the faith but i

1:19:09

was new enough that you know everything seemed to be very rigid uh because of the understanding that i had inculcated and i was i had this this issue that you know i'm stuck inside the wing of an airplane doing a repair oh he'll buy a professional you're a so for the people that don't know yeah aircraft maintenance engineering aircraft maintenance engineer people oh robert that's right that sounds very powerful but that's it the uh don't let it deceive you guys it's not that great so i mean i would be stuck like literally inside the wing of a plane for hours and hours and hours and

1:19:47

and and and then this one time it came and i missed my mother absalom and i was very distraught about it and so literally on the way home i was i was googling something to listen to and something about the prayers and combining prayers and one of your videos came on and it was about the combination who's this who the hell is that that's not a goddamn thought finally finally somebody that you can relate to on here but you know you just you approached it in such a way that it made complete sense to me and it and it i i literally i remember getting home and i was so happy because with that understanding that i can combine my

1:20:26

mother with my asia okay there's no issue and it was such a like a load off of my shoulders and then obviously from there then i started watching more of your videos and we might i might not agree with you on everything but i i totally suspect as i say to people i probably don't even agree with me on certain things that's it so who's anybody to have a disagreement right but what i'm i'm surprised actually what about my appearance didn't kind of freak you out or my kind of humor or things like this or because obviously i've got oddities is if i say it nicely yeah

1:21:03

right so because i i mean educated enough in the sense that i know what a mufti is and i know you know the education required and i know that it's not no people don't just give a stamp of mufti and it's no big deal right um and then when i again when i see you and you're wearing a suit and your hair is done and you know all this sort of stuff and you know at the in the beginning it was more like i i didn't care i didn't see any of that it didn't matter to me that this person is speaking um they're speaking from um a position of authority in our faith they're being able to speak about issues that i find highly relevant to muslims in the world

1:21:42

today and then you know and then as it kind of went on um you know when you when you start discussing things like you know the beard or the clothing that you wear or whatever um it makes the most sense for me and and i mean people are going to disagree for sure no problem but at the same time i think that people such as yourself people such as you know hamza youssef people these these western kind of scholars that people kind of tend to say well they're westernized they know they're somehow they're so liberal in their faith and um but realistically they're not i find that when you have the opposite side when you

1:22:21

have the people you know like everyone wants to dress the same and look the same and wear you know a red handkerchief on your head and everybody should look like that and sound like that versus being able to be relevant to people and i have seen so many people come so far from islam born muslims because they can't relate to anybody you have the you know the movies in the masjid that you know everything the kids do or haram and you know they're misguided and that sort of stuff and and and yet this this other approach to again like the prophet sallam in in bringing people with kindness making you know and and bringing inviting them making islam

1:23:00

easy for people but not compromising what it is to be a muslim um so that was that and and you know what and i i've stuck by it that um i i listen to quite a few many different scholars and i and i and i have many different views on many different things but i think that once we as muslims limit ourself i mean how many muslims do we know that that don't read in english or a quran that they understand a translation it's a language that they understand and they don't ponder over the meaning of it and to me that's that's what is the point what is the point in reading the quran if you don't understand it

1:23:37

even if it's to translation for sure um but you're going to get the essence of what is trying to be said and we as muslims it's and i've seen i've had people ask me i remember in the masjid one time i led the salah and this new kid came and he said he said don't you feel like like the scholars have have taken the quran away from the people and i thought about it and to me at that time i didn't really i didn't really have an opinion on it but now i find that it's we almost have um what i refer to as a madrasa a parrot madrasa complex and that is that it seems like that

1:24:16

the young generations of scholars go into the madrasa and they're taught this is haram haram now go and teach the people and i think that is such a poisonous way to teach i think that you have to teach people to critically analyze and say is this thing haram why or why not go yeah right and and because of that people are so scared to even touch the quran and read it and and connect with it and and ponder over its meanings right like for example i always use this the the verse of the hijab apparently um that to take the ends of the yeah right and and cover your bosom and

1:24:56

to me reading it it's not a command to cover your head because the head is already covered so there must be something prior to that saying you have to cover it so i i've had this discussion before sorry to be long-winded on my reply but um to me that verse is the same as if as if there was a verse of the quran where allah says that if you're doing the dishes roll up your sleeves so you can understand it in the way that i would is that allah is saying that if you have a long sleeve shirt on roll up your sleeves because you've already got it on but the other side is saying no you have to wear a long sleeve shirt because otherwise allah wouldn't have said that yeah exactly right and and i think that

1:25:36

we really lose people that come so far from it because they look at everyone and there's no relation like how honestly how as a new muslim how are you going to relate to a saudi scholar you know standing there with his clothes and completely different culture and and not only that we as muslims perpetuate this ideology that that the culture has to be the culture of the prophet salla i mean but what's to say that this saudi culture today is the culture of the prophet i mean come on it's been 1400 years yeah uh 1400 years where we are today was the culture like what it is today

1:26:14

i mean obviously so it's you know just because it's still a desert and they've still got camels and they still got this that culture even their dress is not like what the prophet's dress would have been like um but it's it's it's yeah i mean this i find it but you know on the on the haram thing i was gonna say that it's usually you know there's two points i want to make one is it's so easy to say haram it's just like it's just a stopper isn't it like it's so you just put that right there it's just the other thing i want to say on that was

1:26:52

we see we are in an age of mass information in this age really just teaching people to learn things i mean that's okay but really we need to teach people how to filter through truths you know what is fake news what is real news what is you see the problem today isn't having the information it's that we've got too much information which includes an x amount of false information absolutely so you know it's not like 200 years ago with information wasn't that you know so scarce so how do you get it so today

1:27:31

really for the next generation we need to teach them how to find what's right what's you know the critical thinking faculties yeah absolutely yeah couldn't agree more speaking of uh fake news uh i know you're not in stateside but what do you think is going to happen with this whole election thing what do you think which way if you're if you're a betting man should we place our bets yeah i i might have my money's on trump yeah i would vote for him and i'm gonna have so much flack because okay whoa whoa i have to explain that because people are gonna be like whoa up until now i thought this white guy

1:28:10

was a genuine muslim now i know he's just an agent exactly infiltrating the muslim community that's right fbi yeah that's it man cia whatever you want to call it um you know what i've that's it's a long story but um you know muslims i find especially in canada we not we be but immigrant muslims they get brought here by a particular political party they get pumped up and that's who they're going to vote for as long as they're here with no there's no they don't care and i've had i've literally had arguments with friends that say well he's our guy i'm saying

1:28:50

yeah but he's a he's been convicted of corruption and he's a cree all these things doesn't matter he's our guy i think well how are you going to like build a nation if you're just going to vote for your guy because he's your guy and then so muslims i find in america that they're going to vote for joe biden because he's better than trump because trump's a racist and he banned muslims and all but let's not forget guys joe biden was the vice president of barack obama who was bombing muslims for eight years and you didn't have a problem then but all of a sudden no no he's good now yeah just because he has dementia and forgot what he was doing for eight years it doesn't mean we should forget what he was doing

1:29:29

i kind of you know what's interesting is when it comes to trump i you see obviously i don't agree with his views or or necessarily the kind of policies and stuff but i've kind of grown an admiration for his his kind of resilience to to the world around him like i i can't help but admire like he just does not give a crap he's like he will do what he wants when he wants he don't care he will say what he wants he will if he wants to be sexist he'll be sexist if he wants to be rude he'll be rude if he wants to be

1:30:08

he'll just say what like this guy he is living the reality of like a third world king you know like because like the dictator yeah because same thing in the third world you know you're kind of untouchable uh and but yet ironically they don't publicly say all these things in the like you wouldn't get mbs in saudi arabia publicly speaking about women or publicly making jokes or publicly saying i'm going to like trump gets coronavirus he comes out a couple of days flies in does his kind of shadowhand version of and he comes and he takes off

1:30:47

his mask and he's like i don't need to wear a mask i mean this guy whether i agree with the policy or not yeah i can't help but you know i'm in awe of his like his the just the tenacity he has the balls he has to stand up to the world you gotta admire that i kind of i can't help but admire it's like i don't want to admire but i just can't help but admire the courage like i think yeah i mean you have to respect it right i mean the way i look at it is that you have an idiot versus an idiot yeah one is probably a bigger idiot either way you're gonna win either way you're gonna have an idiot at

1:31:25

the end of it yeah so i mean you know the way i look at it i'm not i'm not i'm not a like touchy-feely guy like the whole protest and all this stuff i think is nonsensical we're destroying our own country and all that without getting into too much trees exactly well i'm from a family of loggers so we cut trees [Laughter] see you've got this whole logger image about you you know i can't see that yeah right now where's the steak where's the beer that's right that's it so the way the way that i see it is that look you have an economy that's bankrupting like it's it's terrible um you have donald trump he was he was became he became a

1:32:05

millionaire he went bankrupt and became a billionaire he took the american economy to to great levels it's bankrupted almost who's gonna take it back donald trump is at least the guy that could it most likely revives the economy because he's a businessman um and again forget about the touchy-feely stuff do you want it you want to be living in a third world country or do you want america to be great again right so all right

1:32:34

either way an idiot wins and an idiot loses what are you going to do yeah i mean i i i feel that yeah i mean american politics i'm not so clued up about it the way some of my friends are they're very good you know about all the detail but i i just my thing it was just that like i'm not saying whether about how people should vote and stuff but i've just you know i've been introspectively looking and thinking you know it's amazing that with time because initially i couldn't i was like oh my god i can't i hope this guy doesn't become president you know what the hell is going to ruin the world he's going to and then he does become president and he's placing all these bands and he's doing

1:33:12

but over the years i've just thought damn man this guy is he's basically every boy's dream of how to rule the world isn't he like like you get a little boy and that's like how a little boy would want to kind of rule like i just i don't give a damn so certainly i certainly certainly respect him for for that not being your typical politician that's just being as fake as you can possibly be um like him or love him or hate him or whatever i'll tell you one thing that he has proven you know these conspiracies because there was these conspiracies that there's all these establishments the governments

1:33:52

the you know they control everything you know he's definitely shown that despite being a billionaire um he you know he's the establishment is not with him like you know there's this perception that all these billionaires are one click and they kind of you know like a notch down from the illuminati kind of conspiracies that these people together are controlling stuff corporations are running the world and they're doing this and and i'm sure there's some truth to some of that but my point is he kind of showed that well hmm it kind of it was a spanner in the works for that theory yeah yeah i mean i i felt that definitely yeah

1:34:32

for sure wow couldn't it couldn't get any worse really than where it's at now so what are you going to do this is the anarchist way it's got to get worse before it gets good yes i mean and i feel bad i've got a lot of friends in america and the way i see it is that if trump wins you're going to have the riots continue and it's going to get crazy but if biden wins i feel like if you don't want the guys that support trump to be the ones out riding because they're the militias they're the guys with the guns they're the guys who will stand up and defend their nation against you know the ridiculousness so i feel like

1:35:11

it could be a lot worse than it is if trump was elected because the protesters are going to switch and you're going to have a lot of really upset people and those are the people who are yeah it's a bit interesting because it's kind of like with when the brexit happened that the people who were voting for brexit were the kind of those kind of ruffian crowds and if it hadn't happened like after it had been voted for not when the vote was happening but after the vote when there were the when there was almost some hope that they were going to somehow stop it if that was to have happened um i think the backlash internally would have been much worse because those

1:35:51

because the people who were pro uh brexit were the kind of like the peace kind of like hippie kind of esque guys and the other guys were the kind of like racist and the kind of that that streak now if okay if if if this kind of peaceful here the left what i mean by is this hippy kind of nice left not like the militant left like these people they wouldn't have like you know if it didn't go their way they didn't write they're not going to write anyway but that side you would have had a huge surge in violence um right oh you're back we lost you for a second there

1:36:29

all right the the bush administration or whoever it was joe biden goes what [Laughter] should we take a few questions should we ask some people if they've got some questions guys if you've got some questions uh throw them up let's take a look and let's ask us muhammad william saleh while he's on here of right somebody said musti you and your guest are clueless when it comes to american politics andra taylor senior said that i i

1:37:07

admit i did state just for the record i said you can rewind it and watch it i said i'm not so clued up but i am just saying that from my common sense oh no that was this part about the riot thing that i was agreeing that was just from common sense but i was just saying that i can't help but see that side i'm not saying you should vote for trump i'm not i was even saying very clearly i can't i don't like his policies they're clearly discriminatory he's a you know he's an idiot but he does have uh this kind of factor about this x factor about him that he just does not give a damn about the world and that is highly admirable i can't help but i don't want to admire it

1:37:47

but i can't help but admire i think like bloody hell god [Laughter] here we go denying denouncing differences of opinion again all right lily kahn said hello mufti my daughter said hi to the laughing guy well you're doing it lily khan and and ibna to lily khan you're doing it you're doing it right so uh think trump debunks the notion of an elite establishment um yeah i i would i would personally think that i don't know if you um some i think it definitely has a lot

1:38:24

of weight to it mariam said does mr william oh rather formal there it is mr william oh sir that's sir to you does mr william go on the member wearing casual rebellious clothing hmm rebellious do you go dressed like i don't know what's rebellious is it like that kind of like go dressed in leather and you're like

1:38:52

a face mask with a zipper on it or something rebellious that's right if you mean do i have i dressed according to the location of where i'm from and the people that i'm speaking to yes i have as in wearing regular clothes yep regular kind of uh that's right somebody said is it time to drain the swamp that's a trumpian term isn't it drain the swamp that's it drain them off that's it people that's it

1:39:29

uh how do you see the future of islam interesting question and somebody says and they just followed that up with how do you see the future of ex-muslims oh okay you know what the future of islam is dependent upon the people who are propagating it yeah wow so if that's if that's us then we need to be a better example of what islam is supposed to be hey sweetie what are you guys doing going to bed look at that see not vampires like us on this side i'll take a look at facebook as well if you're posting

1:40:09

questions um right it says uh uh dp i can't read the surnames that a bad two-year-old has that same fact they just didn't outgrow it oh that's about trump that's why i did say it's like a boy it's you know if you said to a boy how would you like how would you like to rule the world i think trump's just living that dream isn't he that child could dream of but still as a child i'm gonna make a wall and make them pay for it yeah i don't care that's right [Music] he made a piece of it and made the americans pay for it instead

1:40:46

uh all right let me just see some of these questions right mufti do you think salafism will increase in the future um i don't know do you think salafism would increase in the future is that uh [Music] not myself i i would hope not [Laughter] i i've seen a lot of a lot of uh destruction based upon the ideology or at least the ideology that exists here not to say that it is the actual cell of the ideology um but just that rigid extreme like here's bukhari it

1:41:25

in the quran that's all you need forget about everything else everything is sahih and there's no you know i don't i think we as muslims need to evolve past that that dogma that this is all that exists and there's no difference and this is the only way somebody miriam asked that how did your family react when you convert it that's an interesting question yeah absolutely um in the beginning i didn't tell them i i because i knew like my family given the fact that we are who we are that they wouldn't accept that they would be very upset about it um my dad is there was a you know a big

1:42:04

biker tattoos beer sons of anarchy yeah yeah yeah but the real kind that was an awesome series i gotta say yeah so and in the beginning i just i tried my best to change myself um in terms of how i deal with my parents for example or people or or let them see that there was something different about me that that islam actually had an impact on me as a person in terms of my character in terms of so many different things to the point where um after some time when i did tell my mom she's like yeah what do you think we're stupid like it got to that point that

1:42:43

they just they just knew um and it was it was definitely easier that way instead of just saying you know i'm this and then get bombarded with a whole bunch of questions that i can't answer and that was again one of the reasons why i went hard into trying to understand those questions i knew that my father for sure would have about the faith um and i you know everybody's different obviously but you know they they were accepting um not so much when i changed my name that was a bigger deal so wow but all in all it's one of those things you're rocking it man you're rocking it

1:43:20

right somebody had asked that could you what what are your thoughts on justin trudeau since he'd mentioned trump and the american administration oh i absolutely despise the individual seriously i thought everybody loves him no not not canadian no way most of us hate him no way okay i i honestly did not know that i thought people really loved justin trudeau no okay the the popular vote the majority vote didn't vote for him but because of our our broken political system he won again um i think that he's an actor that's that's all he's good at

1:44:00

that's why he dresses up like anybody under the sun i mean he's definitely you know the guy looks slick he looks the part you know he's like a good looking kind of uh what is it prime minister or no he's not a prime minister yeah yeah prime minister so yes but he okay but i'm really shocked that they don't like what don't they like him about uh so while the crowd that i hang with so god damn liberal yeah essentially i mean i i'm not honestly i'm not right or left i would like a party in the middle that kind of had you know that i could agree upon with everything obviously you're not going to get them um you know they they banned so many

1:44:39

firearms in our country taking the rights away from legal law-abiding citizens who have owned them forever even though we have the legal right to possession of our possessions they did it during kovid they didn't do any kind of debate no nothing they just signed into law criminalizing all these weapons and criminalizing people that are i mean we're we're crim checked every day in the system they're the the most responsible people and completely ignore the fact that we have a a huge problem with gun violence in canada that are being guns that are being brought in from the states they're illegal none of the people have licenses we don't care about dealing with those people we just want to focus on

1:45:17

the good people because guns are scary um i mean whether the fact that trudeau has been convicted of of breaking the ethics act i think twice now and he's up for a third round with his whole new scandal that he's got going what's the new scandal uh it's called the wii scandal so he signed essentially was signed signed a bunch of uh grants that allowed this this company to get a whole bunch of you know millions of dollars um and then in turn kick back to his family in the tunes of hundreds of thousands of dollars okay um see if the corruption the corruption is everywhere

1:45:55

yeah yeah absolutely you know and again i i mean i didn't vote for him either time um and and the muslims i just can't same thing with trump right that will vote for him because he's our guy well i mean can't why because the conservatives are racist i mean you didn't really we're just gonna just smack the whole thing i mean i know i know lots of people of every color that that vote conservative so it's clearly not just you know wow so yeah that's a big ex on truth though don't like wow that's all right i must say i'm i had no idea that this is a reality on the ground okay and these are people sentiments are right so

1:46:32

what is uh right so somebody said uh you're married to a pakistani you started this marriage to pakistan i wanted to ask what is the views or advice on cultural islam and its remedy what i mean what was there was was there a huge cultural issue or not really because you kind of married into the whole the hierarchy didn't you you know what though because because of where i was and and spending time in the jamaat i mean so many pakistanis

1:47:10

majority you could say so i really kind of got enveloped in the culture prior to getting married and having spent i spent 80 days in pakistan traveling all over and from south to north and east to west and um and so it wasn't that big of a deal i mean people we get we get asked this a thousand times a day that you know any advice for culture intercultural marriages and i think that you you have to understand the other side for me i'm white she's pakistani so you know what i eat pakistani food um if i have to wear shawarkamis we go for eid whatever i mean who cares you know what i mean understand and make it easy for for both sides it's vice versa yeah now that that's

1:47:50

that's true actually i mean you can't really knock that and to be fair pakistani food is pretty hip it is pretty yes i mean if you can handle the spices it's good i think the problem is when you got a downgrade to something less spicy then you're like huh it is when you eat when you eat white food you're like oh my god what is this salt and pepper on your mashed potatoes so somebody had said right where's that question gone uh mariam said he's with the cream of the crop all right there you go yeah all right and that was by the way your father-in-law was here in maulana

1:48:30

or something the no okay no no he's just a just a hard working guy that uh made an effort to build a masjid and through his effort in the effort of a few other people they built this masjid in the town um so no just very very culturalized but very much like didn't care that i was white so he was like whatever i'm happy would you would you take the here's a question would you would you guys take the coving vaccine would you take the covet vaccine never all right i'm very reluctant as well to be honest with you i've already had coffee so you know i'm pretty sure i've had it i'm sure my body's handled it

1:49:08

and then tomorrow i drop they go ah look here saying honestly guys that the best immunity we have is our immune system why are you going to take things that can compromise your immune system and with a recovery rate of 99.93 or whatever and come on come on people come on let's put the world back together and quit being scared it's not worse than the flu all right claire says not my white food hell no i'm sure clears i'm sure your food rocks it clear jones is always an epic epic person online always i see her on there much loved her as always

1:49:46

right so uh what oh no that's talking about i think still the politics thing right so it says when did mufti become an anti-vaxxer i'm not an anti-vaxxer like that uh but i just you just asked me would i want to take it as a person to be honest with you i don't see the need because i'm pretty sure i've already had covered in the early days and then secondly uh i i do think these vaccines are a bit rushed right now because they're they're trying to show the world that we've done something and because the normal stages you have up to stage three the three phases and then potentially a fourth phase

1:50:25

and each phase can sometimes take between six to 12 weeks and we haven't had that kind of time frame this is definitely a rush job so i wouldn't want my kids to be the first guinea pigs i'd be like this all right mate go try on someone else come back to us in a couple of years time we'll we'll hack it till then just on our normal genes um absolutely right so yeah somebody had asked about the khutba do you feel that the jummah today then versus now that has a a function of it or a purpose of it should a purpose or a function of it change

1:51:03

as in is it you know with the khutba in mind um obviously 1400 years ago to be honest what there's a question mark how was the hotbar 1400 years ago i don't even know how the football was 14 years ago but what are your thoughts as somebody who's engaged with the community like that yeah i think that i think we need to stop pushing the ideology that we need to to drown out for 20 minutes in arabic to a bunch of people that don't speak arabic i think that the khudba should be something that you take away from when you leave the masjid it should you should have something there within your heart that it was impactful it was meaningful you

1:51:43

learn something um so often you go and you sit and it's like like for me as an english-speaking person i don't understand the arabic language that it's like okay okay that's it pray and that's it finished walk away um and obviously i know the differences of opinion about the the actual khutba and it have to be in arabic not i think that like in our masjid back home it was always short and simple in arabic but we try to give like a half an hour at least in english that we can give something that's meaningful to the people um because people are they're so thirsty for information and

1:52:22

justification and but i think a lot of the time it gets lost along the way yeah because i mean this the so you basically that's what i would say is that you have the ritual aspect so the ritual aspect is just saying a brief hudba and you know then you do the brief dua you've got the sitting and that's what you start the salah and that can you can do that within a couple of minutes uh i would say do that at the end just before you're about to begin the career prior to that you should have uh you should inform people you should talk to them i feel it should be relevant and you should engage them you know people have this issue with engaging people on

1:53:02

jummah like they feel that no you can't because you're not allowed to respond to the khatib you know this masala that even if the khatib says no no you know you you can't talk you can't respond you can't but yeah i feel and i do find it strange that look it's interesting that look the prophet sallam led how many jummahs in his lifetime think about it but how many of these khutbahs do we have what do we have but how do we even know how the prophet's khutbah was we don't have the prophets nobody narrated them uh

1:53:42

you know i came up with a verb on one of my i made one of those kind of it wasn't a meme but i made it as a like one of those dictionary terms to fabricate fabricate i was like to manufacture sahil that's the definition but yeah so but but i find that as a concept you know if you just put the brakes on and just think about that now wait a minute the prophet is giving a khutbah every week for years on end and nobody is narrating them like it's it's interesting isn't it now it gives you a different taste absolutely on hadith how to you know i'm not saying i don't reject hadith

1:54:22

i accept hadith but we take a reason based it's a relativist approach not like being dogmatic and saying oh just because there's a hadith it must be true but in weighing against reason against the quran against established principles so taking a holistic approach but i just i find that thought just wow you know when i remember years back first thinking about that i just thought wow okay i never really thought about that you know there's no hotness of the prophet i think that's something people would narrate no you would think something is impossible people might say there's a one-off

1:55:01

on eid where the prophet said uh you know i'll give this in charities a one-off but i'm talking about the juma khutbaz the jummah ones not the hajj the final khutbah that is transmitted but what about the regular every week come on every friday what was the prophet saying we don't know yeah i if they could if they could narrate one then why couldn't they narrate two 10 100 yeah you know all right so somebody said mufti do you give khudbaz in birmingham hell no can you imagine anybody coming to a mosque where i'm the imam they'd definitely feel lost that guy would anybody that walks in would think right so this ain't the masjid i'm

1:55:40

pretty sure it was around here somewhere this is just excuse me sir they're like this is just where would i find them this is just like got some drug dealer standing in here so this must be where all the druggies come to buy drugs it's a very it's a very nice place though wow wow must be doing it must be doing good sha allah these muslim drug dealers have allah's name written on the floor

1:56:07

all right yeah so i i you know what i wouldn't honestly i wouldn't really give i have done khutbaz if that's what you're asking obviously where i used to work in the past uh which was jummah you know there'd be a rotor i would be one of the people that would and i have done some hoodwas in the past but of recent of the last let's say four years five years since i've been more active on social media and been more expressive of myself um because sometimes when when i wasn't that active on social media people don't really know necessarily how i maybe they know a bit about me but they don't know so much about my views now that they do

1:56:46

it's not my thing really i think that's for these you know it's it's got those people who will dress the part and do that and yeah i'm just i'm just interested in spreading enlightenment that's all inshallah all right have you this is an interesting question and i know we've kept you so long as well and you're thinking god damn it you know i've come on this and now i've got stuck i've got trapped on minecraft how do i go it's like god damn he's trying like with his foot he's trying to pull the socket out trying to disconnect not quite reaching it right i don't know what somebody had

1:57:24

asked about things like psychedelics and dmt and stuff like i don't know if you've ever looked into that or is that i've spoken about it i've been obviously controversial as you can imagine nothing new looked into it in what sense uh i don't know if you if you have a view on that somebody had just asked about it so i just thought i'll ask you um yeah i mean uh i've been around a lot of people and i've that likes it that's what you um you know it's it's one of those things where i don't have enough knowledge in in that respect i know that i've seen a lot of crazy things happen because of psychedelics

1:58:04

um and i've had you know i mean without getting into the whole aspect of what is an intoxicant and vice versa um personally i think that i wouldn't recommend it i would recommend somebody said is there any opinion you disagree there you go that's the first disagreement right there that's it that's it personal experience i wouldn't go with it um you know but i mean it's one of those things where no no i mean well who am i to judge you know what i mean who am i to say one way versus the other i think that a caffeine is a big kicker for me

1:58:42

um it's i mean back in the day when they first discovered it they were there was the how were they going to rule for it so they just basically came up with the idea of the principle that well if you're using it in a way that you're using it for good according to at least sheikh hamza yusuf who's talking about it that it's okay but i mean caffeine is a stimulant like it or not and it's something that is addicting it is something that and you have withdrawal symptoms from caffeine if you would every ramadan and all the muslims around the world no more chai what uh so i mean where do we draw the line and i think that that could be a very funny song somebody said uh to would i say mufti of

1:59:21

equals heroin never i i've clearly said things like that are utterly haram heroine uh those level you know crack and this kind of stuff these nasty uh horrible drugs uh are categorically haram i've always said that somebody's trying to obviously get you into trouble here by asking you a question real sandman one two one is asking should polygamy be more common they're trying to get you oh i mean you know what you get whatever my opinion on polygamy yeah yeah it's okay your wife's gone now now you can say yes she's gone okay guys as many as you can get

1:59:59

there you go that's as soon as she comes just cut that clip why why i mean what what does allah say deal with them justice i can't barely deal with one wife just like how how on earth could i deal with three or you know three or four wives justly um so do i think politics i don't i don't use the muslim thing well there's more women than men no there isn't it's it's almost the same number around we'll just deal i think or just deal unjustly in an equal manner [Laughter] say oh it wasn't oh is that not what you meant

2:00:36

oh i misunderstood a different opinion that's fine don't worry about it that's epic man you know what we better call this a wrap i know it's getting late where you are restarted for me it's five hours different for you well yeah i'm a vampire man that's what it is this is uh a better way yet but so uh if people want to reach out to you connect where's the best place and i will i know you've got your tick tock thing as well yeah for sure i mean that's probably the best instagram is good uh sale family or solid family co maybe um if people want to actually reach out

2:01:15

and have a conversation that's the best because i hate typing um you can find us on tick tock at sale family so i forgot to say as a side note before just going do you do things for or with converts and things like this as in or you don't i don't know maybe you don't but i'm just saying maybe yeah no i mean again back home because we've moved here for for a couple of years now but back home was a lot more active with that here i just kind of blended into being a nobody which is great um but i i did start a youtube channel you can mohammed william saleh and i just right now i've only put up just kind of the basic of my story um but my wife has been harassing me since ramadan to put up a series dealing with new muslims and

2:01:55

and how to deal because i get that so much from people asking me you know they say oh well as new muslim what should we do what's this what's that what what do you recommend what translation of the quran you got is their favorite translation of the quran what's the faith absolutely it's called the clear the clear quran by dr mustafa al-khattab from here in toronto it's phenomenal it's unbelievable is there something on sierra that you recommend while we're on that note uh for for myself uh the seal negatively speaking yeah that's the field negative that's a bit like for i don't know if if people would is there

2:02:34

like something excuse me the new version the new version is more of a picture book so it's great um that's i again i've kind of delved into into uh more of an academic study so it becomes a little bit too much but the new version of of the sealed nectar i find is really good there's a it's a lot more kind of simplified and and kind of a lot of pictures and explanations and that sort of stuff um and then i mean i love mufti mank for for the seerah is for me was very good he's got a 30 30 part series bringing up competition with musties

2:03:13

on minecraft with mufti that's it uh mostly stories he's doing is doing it it's good it's it's it's a great it's an easy listen and it really like you know it gives a lot of value to the to the man behind the message so that's that's what i would recommend that's awesome but yeah and you're saying about reaching out you're saying instagram was the solid family kill and you've got uh obviously what what is it what's tick tock what's it called uh no so if you if you guys want to look at the best quality hijabs in the world you can check out lalahijabs.com um we've actually you know we built them

2:03:52

with a reason uh they're they're they're tie-dye um and we use color theory which was important for us to be able to kind of when you put it not me because i don't wear hijab but it's all about and boosting your mood right the we based it off of color theory and you guys can check that out but lola hijabs.com you can check that out um again tik tok at sale family and feel free to reach out anytime and you know thank you so much for having me on man it's been an absolute pleasure it's been very fun and uh stay blessed with what you're doing and we need more of it all right shukran it's been an absolute pleasure

2:04:31
