of just one second let's make sure this is a ride Bismillah let me just check do a quick sound check laughs I take it we is live let me just switch

0:40

this as well does that make a I wonder if that makes a difference right Bismillah just get some feedback from you guys that the sound is coming through and then whilst you guys are doing that let me bring up the comments from YouTube

1:11

right where are we um okay so it's coming through fine [Music] Bismillah Bismillah foreign

1:50

[Music] right okay just in time I've managed to also get out the chart as well from YouTube so Bismillah folks all right welcome back Bienvenidos it's been quite a while wow what has been going on folks what has been going on in between I did uh I did manage a

2:30

a little trip to Pakistan which uh was good it was brief but it was good it was much better than anticipated just one of those um really it was all about my my mum and those of you that are aware she's in palliative care may Allah make things easy for her for everyone and anyone out there that is going through difficulties I mean and really she wanted just

3:10

um I don't maybe some closure maybe some she said she wanted to visit Pakistan visit her parents Graves and and just yeah so we went off the family and some of us and um my aunt as well those of you that remember a few years ago I had connected with an aunt from um on ancestry DNA that was a story in itself So my aunt had been searching for her her father and the whole thing for

3:48

almost 35 years and I suddenly did a I'm buying just like that it caught us it said that's either your cousin or she's your aunt and you're her nephew and and from there we connected and and then my mother did a DNA test and it said your sisters and that's a uh honestly a a surreal beautiful story in and of itself so she came as well she's Irish half Irish half Pakistani I guess and uh came as well to

4:26

Pakistan so that was so it was fun it was actually much better than I thought and I'd gone after so many years now [Music] um wow things are so different Islamabad is quite amazing I must say we completely clocked The Centaurus Mall know it like the back of our hand it was good it was uh I was surprised I mean some people did reach out to me um asking if they could do meetups and things and I said that you know what it

5:04

is this trip it's really all about my my mum it's not really about me so you know I'm really just so I'm not really going to be doing anything meeting people maybe another trip inshallah yeah so that so that happened [Laughter] yeah wow I have to say I felt things were so expensive I mean no obviously we're going from here with

5:44

British money so it's different and I guess we're going on a short break so we're somewhat touristic but still I felt for Pakistan stand as in I was just bewildered how are people surviving that in the rupees everything is in the thousands everything and it's like wow okay so hmm I wonder how regular people are surviving so may Allah make it easy for each and all I mean

6:21

yeah so I thought I'd share that I bumped into knocked in Islamabad what a small world huh here I am at this hotel sitting there and um and this goes and there's this other there were these other guys with him and I think they've recognize me so they looked at me and I hadn't noticed knock I saw him but I didn't notice him it's weird like I saw the other guy with him and I thought oh that guy's he's staring at me

7:01

so he clearly knows me and so he then said salaam and so I said and whilst I'm saying that then Knack speaks up and he says and I thought whoa what's that what are you doing here so we had a good sit down and a catch up um that was nice as well so yeah it's it's amazing what a interesting small world it is I mean let's begin people what do we have in store

7:39

right who have we got tuned on and right sound is clear I love maths clear as always right can we talk about Allah's Mercy it's all about Allah's Mercy Amen to that yeah yeah sugar and clear yeah that was um that was something yeah Fahad

8:17

I love you with all my heart too yeah Allah I'll keep you always blessed oh it's your birthday and love and positivity and greetings going out to Fahad Alam on his birthday have an awesome birthday and a year full of countless blessings I mean right so um let's bring up what we're going to be taking a look at um hmm

8:55

where we are where we are all right so [Music] um just trying to take a look here is this whoa Allah

9:22

our lives in disappearing Inc [Laughter] wow what a thought huh our lives are written in disappearing ink which I guess yeah in many ways that's what it is you see done

9:49

our effort is to somehow turn that ink into sustainable and permanent ink on the pages and chapters of the story of this world so yeah but our lives are written in disappearing and that theme of impermanence that's what I want us to today focus on

10:27

inshallah and not in a doom and gloom sense but we will see that in it there is actually a splendor and a beauty and we'll we'll unpack a bit of that so some quranic verses on that on that as well and also also I thought let's speak a little about Imam late Legend of Islam a contemporary to Imam Malik uh and also Imam sorry from the heavyweights of the

11:06

atword Imam late so why not we'll take a look at that so let's put in light of permanence and impermanence because this Dunya is one of impermanence people so in light of that you see because just a moment when we speak of something being impermanent temporary it can

11:45

it can for some people appear to be gloomy dark I don't know depressive but it's not it's actually on the contrary invigorating energizing mobilizing because you see when you realize that time is finite when you when we realize that our days ultimately from Allah have come with a number

12:24

there was a great territory of Islam we will cover him someday as well as the legends of Islam the Hassan and Imam Hassan he had a saying that Adam much more that you are but simply that oh person child of Adam you are in essence but just a group

13:01

a number of days each time a day goes by some of you goes by and now that could be seen on one hand in a sad depressive way that oh my God my life's going and so on but on the other hand it could be seen as well actually I need to get off my behind and make something of what I've got

13:38

eve even if it's just these moments let's do it yeah but let's honestly it is not The Good The Bad everything you combine it that is life with all its color and spices and you know with its salt and sweetness and sourness and bitterness but it makes this Splendid taste so this is actually

14:15

to mobilize us it's not to immobilize us that when we start to realize that our lives are written in disappearing ink but it is us who get to make that ink permanent we have to do that so in light of that I saw this quote by mawlana jalaluddin of Rome that beautiful days do not come to you you must walk towards them

14:54

wow that is honestly a beautiful statement that is reflective of and it Intimates the meaning of in some ways that the Hadith that Allah says that when my person walks towards me he or she takes a step towards me I hasten and run towards them Allah

15:28

all right let's let's move on I saw this quote and I thought I gotta share this because in the end you won't remember the time spent working in the office or mowing your lawn climb that goddamn mountain

15:55

and this mountain could be an actual Mountain but it could also be the mountain of your aspirations the mountain of your achievements the mountain of your responsibilities the mountain of your friendships of Love of humanity it could be this is your Mountain it could from from the literal and I would say that the literal is

16:32

perhaps the least of the mountains [Laughter] the greater mountains are those that are in the Horizon of our minds that are part of our aspirations so yeah climb that goddamn mountain in Allah Allah is with you what else do we need honestly what else do we need yeah right I

17:15

yeah ever during the sessions whenever I come across an interesting poem I just walk it aside and I think you know what let's share it and share some thoughts on it and this is an interesting one on just perspective and it's by the legend and dark was actually like he was a scholar as well in me even though he's not grouped as a scholar of Islam but he was he had traditional training as a Maulana but he's more remembered just as a poet uh rather than a mawlana of Islam but he

17:54

had that training that kind of madrasa learning Hadith having studied those things but this is a fascinating poem just about perspective and we can use it for us that Bismillah he says some Spectators are marveling they're relishing in or at the spectacle at watching The Heart bismil by the way

18:33

I know it sounds like Bismillah it's got nothing to do with Bismillah bismil is a Persian word Farsi and it's to do with the the sacrifice meaning the person here that is being sacrificed to the altar it's it's used for animals but poetically it's often used for people the Beloved or the one who sacrificed his life for the sake of love and metaphorically and so the heart of the Bismillah the heart of the sacrifice sacrificial lover now he says

19:12

some are watching the heart of this sacrifice this wounded person suffering [Laughter] that is a spectacle as well but look at look at this Dunya the nature of it the people will stand by and watch as a spectacle wow a cha suffering Salon is suffering man see people that that is you will get that that some will Marvel wow

19:56

hi hi this is whilst others are very keenly watching the skill and the craftsmanship of the Killer wow look how he turns the poem on its head huh the motifs that you have really you ought to want assumes that people would be watching the victim with compassion

20:32

or sympathy and watching the killer with Dread and horror but he's flipping it on its head that some are watching the victim that the suffering as a spectacle wow and others are very keenly observing the craftsmanship the skill of the Killer wow now that's

21:12

evoking in you the reader this whole an ear of a kind of paradoxical bewilderment like you're like whoa what is going on but such is life such is the Dunya such is poetry Bismillah

21:46

that is it's interesting I thought you know sometimes you have to learn to flip the perspective to appreciate poetry and thereby have a greater appreciation of life and in one way you could see that Dar is taking what is a the motif of A hurried event and almost putting a positive spin on it [Laughter] that even in such

22:22

a and a a a such a kind of tragedy or horrific event yeah people are observing skill and in skill there is a beauty it's crazy but it's whoa okay and one could see in some ways a reflection of um the Mystic thought from people like um if not arobi and other people that say that everything ultimately is

23:00

it's a kind of manifestation of the names or manifestation of the Divine or divine manifestations before us that even when you are seeing something shocking it is they say the manifestation of the name of Allah those attributes or those name those attributes of Jalal of mysterium tremendous so it's that that could be one way of looking at

23:39

this right so let's see what I think I've got another poem as well yep I saw this one as well it's interesting because it's we can see this as a motif of what we how we ask from Life how our attitude towards life our attitude towards God sometimes unto its people foreign

24:17

determination such passion such like don't persistently seek such in this case that the the severing of this relationship [Laughter] says that be wary that like don't ask with such determination lest you find us incapable of turning you away meaning that we Grant you what

24:57

you wish for that's crazy you know there's a a quote that there are two tragedies in life one is not getting what you wish for and the other is getting it I think that's Oscar Wilde and because it's in it is a sometimes what we wish for we can't handle so it's just a wow a perspective seriously

25:37

you know I was this time I was in Pakistan and I was speaking to I mean we were speaking amongst ourselves family and I was just saying that it's crazy how at times you see having is all

26:04

opulence or yeah like I don't know if wealth is the right word but opulence maybe you know the just abundance at times is a curse and

26:31

I was just reflecting and then just talking that we we have an aunt and and she lives in Pakistan uh and she's now old in age may Allah always bless her with good health I mean and now we have this you know many people here in the UK they have this the first generation they have this trend or they had a trend and it continues that they will go back and build a massive kind of you know this place to stay

27:11

and and like the trend we have this place as well back there but then nobody lives in these places uh unless somebody goes from here to visit and and so we you know I was just observing that you know there was a time like when I studied in Pakistan so we just had this it was it was like a simple abode in the village it was just a one-story

27:47

home with a few rooms a kitchen bathroom and and now there's this multi-story you know like three stores several rooms bathrooms you know elaborate kitchen like this it's built out you have these homes there now but it's so difficult to maintain because if nobody's staying there and I was just observing like my aunt and and she's from an era we

28:27

an era of of not having so they have a mindset of just saving things and storing and they don't like they're too old now to you can't change a mindset so somebody that's grown up in in poverty-stricken circumstances they've been conditioned to always just like when you have something you store it you and they've not grown up in abundance or

29:04

with opulence and with wealth and and so even now like they still keep very humble uh simple ways and I would see that like when we were there we would like she she would even like when when it came to to just eating as well she would just sit on this tool in the kitchen and just eat there and and we would say that no like look what do you sit in this big spacious place with everyone let's

29:43

you know we've got heating on here we'll do sit here no like that's that's how I do it no I just sit here in this and then she'll just see two things and then she'll just sit close to it was strange because really we what she just lived in was a very small part of the whole thing like as in what I mean by lived in as in just moved around in she would just sit on this chair next to the kitchen and and she would just not that they were restrictions there's

30:22

no restrictions but it's just it's a mindset and to her the whole thing is just about to it just becomes a kind of almost an adverb to like it becomes a curse just to maintain just to take care of but not in joy and I was like I was just noticing and observing and yeah and I thought yeah it is you know yes Allah this world huh this it's

31:02

strange like even if like we we could give her everything but she won't use it she'll just put it away she won't like you could give her new clothes she won't wear them give her new things she won't use them yeah but may Allah bless everyone going through I mean it's honestly it's just life like we're all on this stage for some moments and we all appear on this stage in relation to each other

31:40

I appear as somebody's sibling somebody's child somebody's parent somebody's contemporary somebody's that this is how we appear but I guess the souls are independent the souls are not children of anybody the souls are not you know they they it's when we appear in this world we appear in relation to each other yeah ah right let's uh uh let's

32:20

move on people people yes Allah right let's um oh in light of that this Dunya wanting dare I say greed instincts there's an epic poem of halim go hard that even if my my hand has no energy in it at least my eyes can still see

32:57

that leave the the wine and the cup leave it in front of me I accept I haven't got energy to to even raise my hand to the glass but at least I can look at it oh is there is a pleasure in that so wow guys let's um I take it that's

33:30

right okay so what is going on what is going on let's see um okay there was a super chat I think I missed it one second yeah love you too yeah I love bless you um much love for the Super Chat how does one always remain positive and optimistic always what is the mindset behind that I'll keep you smiling

34:08

shukran likewise likewise you know it's not that one is always in a state of smiling or we all go through turbulence all of us we all experience Joy sadness anger frustration excitement happiness fear it's human it's creature it's not nobody

34:47

is exempt nobody would want to be exempt from all of these but it's how we manage that see we have to we have to at times remind yourselves that times force it upon yourself just smile you know I try to make a habit of it honestly that if I get stressed over something and things happen things are always happening yeah things are always happening don't think that things don't things are always happening

35:27

um but if the moment I remember I will just force myself to smile because look things are happening anyway like smile you whatever you can do do but whatever there will always be things out of our control

36:00

but restore go back to this setting of that it doesn't matter husband Allah you know Allah you know that don't worry about it we have to have that attitude honestly there's a poem that our teachers used to say and it's I believe initially was it by Maulana that

36:32

[Music] foreign to be wrapped up in crises and then smile this is my fitra this is my default setting

37:04

foreign that wherever I'm failing or things appear to be failing I haven't learned how to be crushed by the weight of the that we must keep on like we have to you have not look well it's gonna happen anyway you know whatever it is will happen anyway if we embrace the moment in it we will

37:41

find meaning we will find happiness honestly it is um yeah you know there was a moment I'll share this with you that there was a you know when we were in uh Pakistan one of the days uh that we had this terrible scare with my mom's health and so so one of the mornings um um my sister came to to get me and said

38:20

look um that Mom's not waking up and said what do you mean and so went there and he was a very scary kind of um experience and and just the whole thing just my mother had was in this very deep sleep would not wake up like no matter what we did and so we panicked and obviously you're in a village so it's not but then eventually I mean we did get help and so we thought look maybe it's her

39:00

either her blood pressure has dropped significantly or maybe her blood sugars have dropped so this was just us thinking and so we were trying to get hold of the diabetes machine but it wasn't working and then we weren't sure that we don't want to just put some we had some glucose and we were thinking should we but we don't want to just put you know in case it isn't that and then we you know we trigger something else and and we were trying to give us some water to drink but she wouldn't react and she wouldn't wake up and you know we thought look let's see if we could get a

39:40

reaction we could maybe get an orange and put some salt on it and put it in her mouth and just get her to to maybe she'll react to it and she wouldn't and maybe we could squeeze some of that in and and we'd call for this doctor was on the way and but we panicked and um it was a very scary and she looked you know her appearance looked very scary in the sense that it looked quite deathly almost and it was you know we obviously we we were you know trying to

40:19

be as hopeful as possible and alhamdulillah the doctor came and did check and it was actually the sugar levels had dropped a dangerously low so they immediately kind of gave her the necessary intravenous um kind of Remedy and and we did take her to the hospital and she and she was fine she was fine alhamdulillah and then later on she was quite better and it was good and you know we but you know in that moment afterwards I I was just thinking of the days that just a few days we'd spent

40:56

and the trip so far and and I was thinking of you know even they were there were things like in between with there was even a little you know there was a point where I could I got into this little disagreement with my mom over something and and you know it was I I guess that was an unpleasant part that there was this and there were obviously joyous Parts but but there was this part where we'd got into a marvelous you know on this kind of disagreement I won't say

41:34

argument argument but like yeah but it wasn't pleasant and and I was just thinking of everything you know in the moment your memory is working like this and you're thinking but you know I thought that this whole thing this is life though like that is even that part it is symbolic of life like in life it's not just always sunny and and happy and people are just always smiling it's not like that people are disagreeing at times

42:14

people are angry and upset at times and people are happy at times you know they they together at times and this is the meaning this is life you know you know there's that is that's life and so in and in the whole of that there is a beauty to it including its upset because it's the Downs that allow you to appreciate the whole and they make it very real and gritty and so

42:51

yeah like we have to always no matter what allow positivity and optimism to to weigh heavier to preponderate Army Army so I hope that's of some some help it was another uh Super Chat as well one second um ah amen all right what a name I like it Mufti have always wondered if showering

43:30

after in [Laughter] see we call from the topics of life and death to to priorities people priorities to sexual intercourse and showering and ejaculated

43:59

ah you gotta love it huh you gotta love it I've always wondered I've always wondered yeah have you we've always wondered as well amen if if showering after intercourse and ejaculation was obligatory in order for the for the Salah for the Salah for The Who The Salah to be valid or is it just Sunnah the Sun the Salah I'm thinking maybe you're saying Salia

44:35

or this I'm thinking who is uh yeah who is this see priorities people we've always just wondered as well we've always wanted as well I've often wondered you know when in this deep State of Consciousness amen when I arrive at that plane of consciousness where the dimensions Melt Away I've often wondered that after ejaculation

45:15

foreign you know at least eamon's priorities are in order I've always wanted yeah a part of me doesn't you know feels that I'll be ruining this this Perpetual pursuit of Wonder for you if I answer the question part of me feels that I should allow you to continue that journey of always wondering I mean it will this way it will just come to an

45:50

end abruptly not too I've always wondered yeah I love it I love it [Laughter] Eamon you're a legend you're a legend well to bring this incessant Perpetual journey of Splendor and wonder to somewhat of a closure Eamon uh well it is obligatory unless for some reason you're not doing Russell

46:28

and then that's a separate topic where you can do to Yemen and I've discussed that in the past on the other circumstances and conditions otherwise one does to also uh so yeah but shukran for sharing this with us I do wonder what else it is that you've often wondered now in my spare time I will find me wandering over your wanderings

47:01

uh uh let's let's move on people I can't wait to make a thumbnail for this clip that is going to be interesting yeah so yeah where are we people let's take a look at some verses of the Quran today to uh to cover this theme and then we can move on Bismillah

47:41

[Music] this is a fascinating verse from Surah Rahman verse 26 and 27. that every being every entity every reality everything on Earth will perish

48:19

only Allah is Everlasting in with his majesty foreign state of being every

48:55

crisis you've ever faced every problem every disaster every tragedy every moment of sadness it will perish it will pass

49:25

if you find yourself in a state of depression engulfed by anxiety in fear drowning in problems know that they will all

49:55

perish none of this will last your problems certainly won't last so this verse in many ways it inspires us it energizes us

50:27

it brings us back to life it gives us strength that whatever you're facing it too will pass because nothing will last forever so and that extends to us our lives will not last forever

50:58

now that is a reminder to say well let's get on with it and let's do something about it because we are only on this stage of life for a limited period of time I am performing on this stage you are performing we are all just delivering an act so to speak

51:34

Allah so Allah alone is forever you know there is a peace in knowing that as well so a simple verse like this and it expands into so many meanings that we can take that don't don't be disheartened over things you know it's all good

52:13

you know we're building we're making things companies houses homes families Fortune careers sure do it it's amazing it's spectacular be grateful have gratitude to Allah extend that gratitude by showing love to humanity but know that everything will perish [Laughter] ah kulum but

52:53

that's okay just because it's going to perish doesn't mean you shouldn't enjoy Allah placed it there for you to enjoy the prophet salallahu alaihi wasallam said Hadith if one of you is eating and the final hour is upon you the world is coming to an end a cataclysmic event

53:29

is happening in real time cataclysmic of apocalyptic proportions the prophet said foreign let you continue to place that morsel of food in your mouth

53:57

eating whatever's happening will happen save for that moment because that moment is still there after it there may not be another one enjoy it whilst it's there such optimism

54:24

but nested in realism that true it will all perish but it doesn't mean you shouldn't enjoy it enjoy it be grateful at the same time know that your worries won't last forever either so why you know when and another by extension if we know it won't last forever why be cruel to other people why be withholding

55:01

why and withholding can be in many ways it can be physically can be in terms of resources it can be in terms of but it can be in terms of just wishing well for people a kind word just kindness why why be why be cruel to someone why put someone down why knock them down

55:34

Allah yeah there's another verse of the Quran with a with the meaning anchored in that point as well that alhamdulillah and this is from verse first verse and the second foreign

56:20

[Laughter] it is he who created the cosmos with all its splendor and the Earth and he placed Darkness and Light and here Allah begins with Darkness because in many ways you see darkness is naturally will be seen as the default

56:55

until light strikes upon something but also metaphorically because by default this world will always be an abode of suffering they will always suffering is I mean it is guaranteed there will always be suffering but the beauty is that suffering you see because pain or suffering being inflicted and

57:35

suffering being felt are two different things so the pain the torment the circumstances that the Dunya will always provide because it will by default be a very turbulent place and we are trying to bring order and stability to it but suffering is the meaning the suffering within is the meaning we give to circumstances

58:07

and that you can change so the pain we can't sometimes control that the world will give us pain you know we might hurt ourselves physically it might be metaphorical it might be mental emotional we can't always control the world around us but we can control the meaning we ascribe to things

58:34

if something is out of our control TK it is a test from God let's get on with it see all of a sudden that attitude changes it's not um why me why me you know why didn't why doesn't this happen to such and such Why I mean who are you okay now it is you now we've got no choice

59:04

what meaning are we going to give to this so okay this is from Allah fine see how I will react how do I react see nobody likes the moaning whining person nobody does it's so annoying that those people are

59:32

that so when things are happening we can't always control them but we can control to a great extent the meaning we give to them so we say okay something bad has happened but I'll tell you let me let me tell you an amazing way whenever something bad happens use this mantra okay what is this here to teach me

1:00:07

just say that what is this here to teach me is it here to Humble me teach me humility gratitude compassion The Greatest Story and maybe how do I know behind this maybe Allah through this will unlock so many doors for you that you could never have imagined sometimes you have to go through a bit of you know some rigorous turbulence to shine like

1:00:48

a raw diamond having to be polished sometimes such is life you see now that's the meaning you're giving to it you could just sit at home oh I'm so whimy this is so horrible I don't it's not fair it's not and you're still going through it and the other person is thinking well okay I'm going through it maybe this is a test from Allah okay people have got it worse out there let me put a smile on my face let me try to be grateful what is this here to

1:01:26

teach me what can I learn from this right maybe this path will lead to an and converge with another great path up ahead that Allah has in store for me see so Allah begins with Darkness because many people will face some form of suffering in life but then Allah follows it one Lord and remember we've spoken about our relationship to God previously

1:02:04

either through metonymy through connections to things or metaphor of God and by metaphor Allah is nor Allah says in the Quran Allah so in some ways after Darkness one finds God one finds light

1:02:32

one finds life see without light they will not be life not for beings like us anyway so yet there are those who still turn away from their lord

1:02:59

and so many ways that this could be readily as in turn away or or do they try to serve a justice of their own unto God one could even see it like that in a tyranny they try to they try to serve Justice to God one could see this word almost like in Sun in this sense of hubris

1:03:35

plain Allah created you from a humble from clay from a humble origin Ally that there is a fixed limited time that rests with God that is and by that it means you it means your time it's limited how many days months years do I have I don't know Allah knows but this can also mean a limited time by

1:04:12

extension for other things a limited time of difficulty a limited time of failure and failings a limited time of Sorrow a limited time of difficulties and challenges foreign and there is a named a defined term as in a timeline with Allah

1:04:44

you know you're still arguing over this yeah you're still in doubt about this you're still disputing this you're still wavering over this you know it's I guess that is really the whole journey of insert these are some beautiful verses for Allah to just ponder over these things of the the finitude

1:05:21

of Our Lives on this stage but also by extension of our problems of our challenges and how it's all linked in there you know one person's mess is another person's art [Laughter] that's all about perspective and that is the beauty that Allah has given us we are the only creatures that can shift our perspective

1:06:00

no other creature can do that we can get up in a given moment and say right from this point I I'm just focusing on this From This Moment forward I will face this challenge I will smile I will we're the only creatures that can do that that from this minute and second I will change my life and its direction

1:06:38

the only creatures that can change our script amen may Allah make things easy for each and all I want to share those verses with us I hope they've been of some help right let's let's see who do we have with us Allah like that don't go through it grow through it I love that masha'allah sharing that um

1:07:12

all right some some people mentioning dishes right right right all right I missed a question actually that was to do the previous question a comment but we'll let that go I miss right somebody also mentioned that my what's that my growth and oh that it appears to be as though I've gone through a trip in a psychedelic or shall we say a trip of

1:07:51

mushrooms and other well it is all Mother Nature these things are risk that Allah has planted on Earth yeah I am a very I'm always a a key proponent of things like um sacred medicine like mushrooms and DMT and I think these things are massively healing hugely healing and therapeutic in ways that we fully just do not appreciate yet and yeah some country in fact there was a

1:08:30

post that Australia has now uh decriminalized certain uh some of these these substances and and not only right that was Australia I think on MDMA and psychedelics and a few other substances as well but that's also including some dangerous drugs but they're more concerned which is they're more concerned about helping people so if they find people with um even whether it's heroin or I think including that then they're not interested in punishing them they're

1:09:09

more interested in getting them help I think that's a an amazing Direction because that's how the direction should be but there was something else I shared as well now about some other countries moving towards psilocybin mushrooms and um because it's undeniable now the help that these things do to for us it's undeniable the way it connects what it does to the human brain in overcoming things like depression it's just wow like drugs can't do that

1:09:46

drugs can't do that so yeah I'm always a key proponent of that Imam Kazi Allah Allah Imam it's awesome to see you online this is uh and see you awake at this Godly hour part of the villages when I was visiting I saw Imam kazi's house right that was uh that was good to see so awesome to see you here all right we have a super chat Hamza Ashraf shukran much love for the Super

1:10:26

Chat is there really more people in Hell than in heaven well let me put it like this more people are unfortunately living or dwelling in Hell on Earth than they are in heaven on Earth that you know

1:10:57

this of course these verses are speaking about the afterlife unquestionably but by extension also in this world that we continue to inhabit a domain of suffering that we even from a biopsychological perspective if you're looking at the default mode Network that this kind of resting state that many

1:11:36

people fall back into psychologically it is the state that is associated with depression it is the state that is associated with anxiety surrounding the self with it is not a healthy state and it's fascinating that when a person Alters their state of consciousness we spoke a moment ago about psychedelics whether it be through psychedelics or whether it be through meditation or whether it be through altering that they become removed from the

1:12:15

default mode Network and losing that sense of self and integrating that state of Oneness actually removes Us in the moment from that default mode Network so it's fascinating that one could say many people in this Dunya or maybe more people in this Dunya inhabit a personal help than those that inhabit a Jannah in this Dunya and the presence of God that's in this life

1:12:54

let alone the afterlife with all its Splendor and all its magnitude that's something else so let's see the afterlife we haven't reached it and all we know is that Allah is merciful

1:13:20

and that we should be responsible for our actions and then we seek the mercy of God the prophet said nobody enters you know the grace of God except by his grace nobody enters Paradise except befriend them in Allah except by the grace of God nobody so and we do know that look let's Allah is merciful but let's begin with dystonia

1:13:58

and how are we inhabiting this world are we making it a hell for other people you know how and um what's his name Jean-Paul Sartre where he says hell is other people that are we becoming are we making this Dunya a hell for other people God forbid so I would like to believe that no I would like to believe that inshallah more people are in the Grace will be

1:14:36

in a blessed Afterlife by the grace of Allah that's what I'd like to believe and you know that's what I hope I mean but let's begin with this Dunya and then get to the but right so Allah

1:15:07

hippo hypocrite I like it I like it um let's see what have we got let's share what did I want to go through right whilst I'm waiting for this to to load to the next thing I want to say um and I want to say this at the beginning and not we got distracted I want to share some words some thoughts and some duas for The Afflicted in Turkey in Syria you know it's

1:15:47

heart-wrenching see some of those tragic clips may Allah make it easy may Allah Grant relief to everyone who is Afflicted I mean may Allah restore joy in their lives I mean may Allah give them many times exponentially more than they hardened than what they lost I mean yeah you know it's it's really in these

1:16:26

things we are truly helpless and many people are helping many people are um by helpless I mean in the face of natural disasters but many people are helping to to Aid the situation I may Allah give people more and more capacity to help may Allah enable people to get there more rapidly and deliver Aid I mean and these people are true heroes I mean yeah and it is I want to say as well that

1:17:05

look go easy on exposing yourself to these clips and videos because we're not designed that way see we have a fitral we are you know in Sun we have human weaknesses we're not you know we're not robots we're not machines we are we are feeling as as professor and Dr Antonio dimasio puts that who's a psychologist that we are feeling animals who can think

1:17:44

we are not thinking animals who feel we are the other way feeling animals who happen to think so we are emotional by default we are you know we are hormones we are uh we're not built with so so look let me in the real world we never Witness real life tragedies from such with such within our visual field who unless we are a part of it or witnessing

1:18:24

it within such proximity what happens in that situation is that we would adrenaline would be running kicking in uh we would have all these hormones these kind of uh safety mechanisms operating within us we would be in a state of fright and flight and we would that's what would be happening and we would only be exposed given our human capacity of movement to only certain number of casualties

1:19:00

now what is happening is we are from a safe distance being exposed to sheer tragedy like we are witnessing a heart-wrenching uh videos of death and and destruction and just just just mind boggling trauma we are witnessing it but from a safe from our armchairs where there isn't adrenaline running in our systems there isn't these defense mechanisms in

1:19:39

operation because we we are in a state of comfort and safety but then we are being exposed to such trauma that it is really it is not natural to witness that let them the heart and mind doesn't know what to do with it so we are thereby um having this second-hand trauma and also numbing our systems when trying to we are somewhat numbing them

1:20:13

so just just go easy uh on yourself in exposing yourself to a lot of these videos with you know I watched one and I you know I wished I didn't watch it there was this boy trapped and and he was just awaiting a death child and you know you don't know what to do because what can you do there's nothing and you're just you're thinking damn I wish I didn't watch that because we see we're not in that zone where the adrenaline is kicking in and all of this you're just watching it now

1:20:52

you're just going back to office work or you're just going back to eating your burger and eating your Biryani and you're just going back to playing with your children and it's not normal so and that's not to say that you you shouldn't be aware of what's happened the earthquake and you shouldn't be trying to Aid in helping you should be you should be trying to help if you can create an awareness if you can send money if you can send Aid if you can

1:21:30

send if you can help people if some people themselves are going and if you can't do any of that you in your heart are making Dua but it doesn't mean that you need to be watching because that's going to that's an that's something that you're not designed to to or built for so just go easy on those things on exposing yourself to that yeah I just want to share those words I mean yeah because it was you know these

1:22:08

things were very sad and I do see uh I do see these things and I feel that yeah a lot of people do share them and people they're not sharing them with any malice or bad intentions in fact on the contrary they're sharing them because that they they in their minds they're doing something good they're trying to help but yeah I would just say go easy on the graphic imagery that's all sure if you're sharing the overall clip of a of an earthquake or just a news article

1:22:48

about the earthquake or that's different but the actual imagery of Limbs and dead bodies and um there's a sanctity to life and even those people they don't want to you know there's this herma to a dead body they don't want to just be a fleeting story that you just happen to share to maybe you know as a psychological reaction to maybe make yourself feel like you've done something uh to tick a box these people's

1:23:26

bodies are much more you know um sacred than that so that they they're above just being a an Instagram share so that there is a great Karma in insane yeah so just go easy I mean to make Dua all you can or you can yeah um but yeah and there was another question

1:24:04

I was asked that look in the face of that people sometimes feel guilty for their own blessings you don't need to feel guilty these blessings are blessings from God um you know this is where and it may be difficult in the moment but don't feel guilty because this see Allah has given you but he's seeing how you behave with what he has given you but don't feel that oh I can't you know Allah has given me something now I must deprive

1:24:43

myself of it Allah has given me joy I must not have joy now I must be sad I must stay in in a state of a Perpetual sadness no no no no no that's not what Allah has asked of you okay your concern is something you made to ah maybe you gave something maybe you gave money maybe you gave clothes maybe you gave Aid maybe you gave time maybe you gave a heartfelt but what Allah has allotted for you in terms of your risk of Joy your risk of being with

1:25:22

your family your risk of being with your loved one being with your friends don't feel guilty over those things that's not the teaching of Islam that you feel guilty over these things Allah says that as to what he's given you be grateful be grateful that this is not a religion of guilt okay we we can't and sometimes some people you know out of a naivety they may Guilt Trip other people don't that that is a wrong that is the wrong Behavior the Hadith of the Prophet sallallahu about trials and tribulations

1:26:01

was that alhamdulillah they all praise be this was the Dua all praise be to God who saved us and blessed us with a safety from afana saved us from what he Afflicted such and such with

1:26:35

and he gave us in many ways favors which were above the favors of others he bestowed uh favors upon so it is saying that alhamdulillah this is a Dua from the prophet salallahu so don't so that's a distinction that you don't need to this is not a faith of guilt that is a very Christian Paradigm not in Islam okay so in Islam we have gratitude not guilt

1:27:14

so remember that always gratitude not guilt right let's uh move on yeah they should be thought given about the consent of the deceased here because people don't want that sometimes you know people don't want their family members dead bodies being pictures of it being shared and you know that's not how they want to remember them they want to remember them in in a nice way when they were happy when they were yeah I mean much love for

1:27:54

the super sticker Allah bless you I mean right all right let's move on to I want to speak a little about a personality a legend of Islam I want to introduce um I did have somewhere yep here it is pencil some notes in case I forget the great Legend of Islam people Imam late Allah Allah

1:28:32

these are the heroes of Islam Imam laith as you can see my my Kunia inspired from the legend himself that Allah right but Imam Latham he so who was he where was he from what's his story let's have a little intro and a glimpse into his life foreign

1:29:11

he was a legend of Islam born in the year 93 some say or 94 history which is similar to the year of Imam Malik some people say maybe one or two years after him he was born in Egypt and his family they moved to he was born in this uh area called and some people say but I've I've seen both online and some uh small region but

1:29:49

they moved to what is then um for start and today part of Greater Cairo and his family they were um converts to Islam people who become part of the Coptic Community although it is said that their his ancestors migrated from Persia or greater Persia from the asfahan region and they came and settled in Egypt and they became part and parcel of the Coptic community and they spoke that's the language they spoke

1:30:29

then his some of his uh his his grandparents I believe Embrace Islam or maybe in his parents time but he is born a Muslim he has to learn Arabic Arabic was not a native tongue to him but he learns how Ricky excels in it he memorizes the Quran as a young boy he um he is Born Into great opulence abundance and wealth his father was incredibly wealthy he owned all these fields of

1:31:09

um that they produced he had these um you know these great Orchards and he had these great fields and uh fruits many fruits countless fruits and even certain plants they would grow these rare plants that were known for um for herbal use but also for sometimes perfumery and fragrances and and also honey he had these kind of great bee farms or Honey Farms and so a great amount of like he was this kind of agriculture agriculturalist

1:31:50

and he's born into that and so he had great wealth he was the equivalent of today a multi-millionaire Imam laith was and he develops a Fascination for Islam so he sets off um in his um he sets off in his late teens and and approaching 20 to travel and study so he goes to different places he goes to Iraq he goes to HS Makkah Madina he studies

1:32:29

in Makkah he learns from great people like um he studies with the likes of uh who was the great scholar of Makkah the student of the fare of Makkah student of ibnah burst he studies with abusive he meets him takes a certain amount of Hadith I believe about 113 hadithi um took from him he counts them out or enumerates the number so he studies with um yes with

1:33:08

several people said that's a great mahati that he takes a number of Hadith from was the um yeah so these are the main people he has many other teachers as well he picks up on different he comes to understand that why are people so disagreeing in Islam this is something that really um it bothers him like he really grappled with this and he thinks that shouldn't it all be won and this really inspires his perspective and his mother in Islam

1:33:48

so he ends up with his own mother and way of school of thought and looking at things so um yeah he he goes back to Egypt he's so he stays out in these places traveling to Iraq to hijaz to Medina to Makkah and then returns to Egypt and then starts teaching he has his own um you know his study circles his uh his mother and before you know it he gains a huge reputation he's a contemporary to Imam Malik

1:34:27

his reputation reaches Imam Malik that this person you know later Don has emerged and people transmit from him by the way in Hadith um you know something they say about him is that he in Egypt would he would have a structure to his weekly routine he would split his day into four portions four segments or sessions and he would have the first session where he would have it as a kind of um almost a juridical

1:35:05

session that was really for politicians and judges and rulers and people like that would come to him magistrates and he would they would seek his counsel and he would ask and it would be discussions with them so it was a very it was an elite um session or an elite section of his day for just that class of people the second is for teaching Hadith so people would come to him people transmit from him like

1:35:45

the very famous controversial Hadith uh narrator who you know many people say we can't accept his Hadith because at a certain point is his house was burnt down and his Hadith were burnt and so there's there's this huge discussion around him he transmits from later uh Imam Malik students transmit from him the famous student of Imam Malik um you have ignite famous who Imam Malik does in

1:36:24

um when he asks him that um he says what do you say about these Transmissions that Allah laughs you know you have these anthropomorphized narrations so um if you're to take them in that way that is he strongly condemned this and criticized very harsh in his reaction to that and then the narrator says well

1:37:00

even age land transmits it who now if not Imam Malik says he says he's not a scholar of Islam [Laughter] he's not one with sound understanding of the theme is a popular is popular in his narrations and he transmits from uh this world so these are some of the the people that you're seeing now um

1:37:39

this is the the kind of legendary status of Imam laith IBN and you see he visits uh Medina again as well and he goes on the Hajj as well and he visits Imam Ali and he had this great um honestly an amazing Habit to him that he was so generous he was so wealthy and his wealth was regenerative because obviously he had all these fields and all you know all this Harvest and and he and as an agriculturalist he would make a lot of

1:38:18

money from that year in year out and he had herbs and honey and all this stuff which you would often sell and he would often see he would send money to Imam Malik you know Imam Malik in his early days wasn't that rich and in later in his life he uh he became rich and I would say maybe in some ways even maybe subconsciously or consciously was influenced by lathe

1:38:54

because they say in his early days Imam Malik when he met laith he says to him that uh you know he says what's this he says and he says what time she fill us walk with the Poetry he says what's this I see you dressing in these elegant refined clothes garments and you eat refined dishes and you found wandering

1:39:32

in the marketplaces you know like as in you know what is all of this like ain't you meant to be somebody dedicated to learning knowledge and what is all of this spending and dressing in refined clothes and style and yeah and Imam laith reads the verse of the Quran to him that Allah says in the Quran tell me who declared Haram the the Splendor and the beauty and the zena the ornaments

1:40:11

that Allah has taken out for his servants and given them as risk who is there that can declare Allah um so right so this so the the this I feel that this was in the early days maybe what the kind of attitude and spirit that influences Imam Malik because later on in life Imam Ali goes

1:40:48

on to really owning um the blessings of Allah and his risk and he and he has great opulence becomes very wealthy later on in his life uh becomes as is a very successful Tradesman but in his early life he isn't and Imam laith would often you see once he met Malik he would often send him every year he would send him several thousands and the knobs gold pieces and sometimes just other um things like

1:41:26

um you know honey and stuff like that he would send him things like that like cloth clothes expensive cloth and and he would do that with many scholars not just Imam Malik this was a honestly it was an amazing quality that uh Imam late had um so it's something that's just whoa and it doesn't mean that they agreed on things they didn't Imam Malik disagreed with laith heavily on many things Imam late's reputation grew substantially and he became very famous um

1:42:05

and he was known to the caliphs aphor is the right character you know this guy whenever you see him he's trying to get one of the scholars to become the Supreme judge of so he tries to get Imam about hanifa for years to to be the Supreme judge and he doesn't and then he you know he gets on bad terms with arguably I I would feel he actually killed Imam but that's a discussion for another day people say no

1:42:42

he just died a natural death in prison imprisoned by abujah but yeah I would feel that he actually poisoned him but nevertheless that's another discussion foreign he has his hands in many pies honestly very cheese [Laughter]

1:43:12

but he uh he's also the same guy who um you know he uh he becomes a patron for his and sponsors him and brings him to the capital Baghdad and and his arms Outlook a sham changes huh his arm changes Hisham is not the same Hisham that leaves Medina you know Imam Malik didn't accept this is why Imam Malik was critical of hesham's Hadith Imam Malik said he's one of the few

1:43:51

Scholars that reject criticization he says when he used to be with us in Medina he was something else he says but when he he says you know he used to say a Hadith that are a shipper a handspot but when he started to come you know when he started to visit Baghdad on these Royal visits he says that then he says these this hansban became an arm spot Allah says he's not the same Hisham

1:44:28

got royal protocol you know Royal protocol so anisham is the transmitter for a lot of these interesting Hadith that became problematic like the age of Aisha Hisham is related to Aisha he is the the grandson of orwa who is the nephew of Aisha and that's a discussion for I have had in the past and it's for another day on the kind of what was going on Mansour was doing a lot you see because this question of why was because that had to be the Supreme judge of the Muslim world

1:45:08

yes jumpy nickel is like he's trying to put this crown on somebody's head heavy lies the head that was the crowd rejected it and then before you know it no more Imam he tried to give it to Imam Malik by the way he tried to say you know foreign

1:45:39

and he asked Imam Malik that let me allow me to make your book look at the buttering herb you know this is the this is the butchering allow me to make your book the mortar the book of Islam as in what he means but it doesn't mean the Quran he means allow me to make it the legal book that this is the buttering up going on Imam Malik just looked at him and said behave Allah

1:46:20

you know those people Legends huh that what is it um but those those people Imam Malik said to him listen he said the companions of the Prophet disagreed who are we to impose on the ummah but the question was why was so interested in having this this Islamic you know doing all these things

1:47:00

Allah we can only speculate and one of the speculations is that he was trying to carve out a new identity you see because you had the history of bani umayya and then the abbasids and we've covered this in the past they rose on the back of the Shia let's not forget that you see but they broke away from the Shia so the Abbasid who are the Shia they came from Horizon and they were they came on the back of the island we claim

1:47:38

to overthrow bunny Omega you see and this is happening in the lifetime of Leith this is happening in the lifetime of Imam Malik Marwan the second Marwan uh you know Muhammad we've covered we've covered this history that's not a this that's the the title they used to call him uh Marwan II we've covered all of this in the stories uh of strength you can check it up in previous sessions but you see what the abbasids were trying to do was we need to reclaim Sunni Islam because this one needs were the majority

1:48:17

of Muslims but we've had Sunni Islam in the past has been under the the kind of it has been under the umbrella or the it's the overarching rulership has been putting Omega and that's not a good track record is it and then the only other alternative is the Shia from whom or and on the back of whom came by labus because they were a Shia movement politically Shia they were so they don't want to be part of the

1:48:57

Shia now but they don't want to be obviously attributed to one of umiyah so because they are antibani umayya but so they needed to carve a new identity and maybe one that could have done that was the zubairid version you see because because had also carved out an Empire if we can call it that but a caliphate he had his rule from Makkah at one time was much larger than bunny umayyas so that's maybe a legacy we could lean in

1:49:36

on and if you lean in on a neutral Legacy thereby you could claim a new identity you could Forge an identity so this is perhaps why and this is speculation but he really um patronizes uh Hisham and he favors Hisham because he's the grandchild of Abdullah you know he's not the grandchild but he's the uh from that family because so he's ottawa's son but it's that same

1:50:12

zubairit kind of Dynasty going on uh Legacy can we say until it's interesting this forging and and that goes into another discussion of why perhaps Hisham in the face of some Shia claims at the time that were maybe um trying to eyeshadow the law and having a very bad light and trying to some not all but some Shia that were very kind of right-winged were hurling a lot of um insulting

1:50:49

defamatory kind of allegations and and insults towards Aisha about her chastity in light of that it seems that brings forth this narration that she was but only a child at the time of her marriage that she was only nine this seems to be a response to the culture at the time that Hisham faces in Iraq from some staunch Shia who are saying that before Aisha married the prophet she was having an affair with a boyfriend so there are these allegations because

1:51:27

there's these claims that I mean even in the Sunni sources Aisha was engaged prior to marrying the prophet but the engagement broke off but some of those um some of the Xi'an this is not to say all Shia say this they don't and some of the Shia had said she was not engaged she had actually married and she had was having and some had said whether she was married or not but she she was engaged in sexual kind of relationships with her fiancee and so so they had said all of these

1:52:07

things and some people some of the Shia and so in response to them Hesham seems to push this narrative that that's not possible she was only nine because this all this narration rests on Hisham he's the person who seems to introduce this narration and all other narrations seem to really just go back to the iraqiin who really have just got it from Hesham and some of them may be just forging is not chains to make it circumventisham so they can get this narration out there but that's a

1:52:45

different discussion but in this time uh Latham coming back to him is one of these imams that uh abujah films would want him to be the Supreme judge but he also refuses uh but the caliphs always keep him in a huge light because you see he Egypt is quite neutral in terms of where do you place Egypt you know charm is has been heavily um and certain regions have been like this but what about Egypt it seems quite neutralish in its way so yeah um and there was an interesting time

1:53:24

check this out there's a there's an interesting time that Haruna Rashid from the Abbasid he gets into you know back then these people got into these dilemmas so he gets into this dilemma where he's going to divorce his beloved wife zubaida so everybody knows you know he UPS his absolute love for zubaida his his uh his wife Haruna Rashid so this one time they get he random Kings and the the random combos though he once said you know if I'm not from

1:54:04

Jannah like if I'm not from the people of Jannah then you are divorced kingly combos that's uh what a convo huh so so now he says this and then he thinks yeah you know it's one of those then he he sobers up thinking Hmm this one not uh not two wise you know not Socratic moment so so he thinks yeah damn I've kind of

1:54:44

had it here so the way there's been divorced unfortunately yeah and he really loved her so he he really wanted a way out so he asks a bunch of imams and they kind of a bit stuck like they don't know what to say like they they can't really they just like look we don't know and um he asks Imam so when absolutely just you know cornered with his problem and with nowhere to go he thinks of Imam late he says yeah this lady in Cairo back then

1:55:24

it wasn't Cairo is called which is today part of Greater Cairo but um he says yeah let me ask him so he summons Imam lace and laith was a dawn in his own right he was you know something about Imam laith was he was very witty and sharp and you know one of those um very off-the-cuff kind of thinking imams and so he asks him he says yalath he says yeah

1:55:58

I said this have I divorced is she divorced or is there any way I could Salvage the situation nudge nudge wink wink yeah help me man so Imam late he thinks about it and he says he says no he says there's no divorce in this case

1:56:28

looks at him what young man no divorce he says you mean he says I said but I said that if I'm somebody of Jannah how could that be how could you say that there's no divorce at most all these other people are just being agnostic so Imam late says to him he says he says he says tell me

1:56:59

he says have you ever I'd you know ever feared God have you feared God ever do you fear God me moms and the caliph says what kind of a stupid question is that it's of course I Fear God says I do fear God everybody should fear God he says well in that case Allah says

1:57:35

janata Allah whosoever has fear of his Lord and and that for that person is not one but two generals he says so you have fear of Allah so you by that verse there you go oh yeah so much

1:58:04

it was so he was so thrilled to hear this reply that he he he was so thrilled he actually as a reward gave Imam late because he was from Egypt he gave him his huge parts of huge like allotted lands in from Giza by the pyramids you know that surrounding uh back then several parts which was outside of Cairo uh back then I mean Cairo didn't exist but uh for start which is you know back

1:58:41

then that's what they called it um he gave him several parts of you know as a as a reward just had him allotted for Imam Leith they belonged to leithub and look at that owning several plots of land by by the pyramids huh ah you're late this these honestly this and you know this wasn't a look you know some people may see this as oh you know what's he doing this was about creating

1:59:16

and ease and a comfort in the Deen and making the owning The Deen for people you see it's not that Imam laith would encouraging people to take these kind of Oaths of palak and things like that he wouldn't of course not but now that somebody has taken it and they're living in this state of Perpetual anxiety that they love someone and they regret what they've said that the Imam is simply finding a verse of the Quran that is giving this person

1:59:56

some meaning for their life and some hope extending a this this kind of a chord of Hope from Allah in his Kalam to his creation that's all that's a beautiful way of looking at the Quran that it gave meaning to people and this was you know he was a huge um uh uh a legend and he and Imam Malik disagreed on several things you know in

2:00:34

fact I should have brought up here I tried to bring a snippet of um Imam Malik road to laith a very famous letter that is available um and we'll come back to this that is that the picture that you can see there is the way Imam late is buried um in Egypt today in Colorado and it's it's that they've in later centuries they kind of erected this tomb

2:01:10

and uh like a small kind of mosque thing where he is and it's not too far from Imam I believe and so yeah that's his uh final resting place let me just and these are some quotes said about him and we'll just uh we'll come back to these you can see that uh you can see the [Music] um right even a theater later that he is a Sayer than our Imam and

2:01:46

Imam Ahmed said he is and you know uh he's a legend of Islam and sahil Hadith and Imam he will come back to this quote where he said he's more knowledgeable than Imam Malik and he was more following of the tradition that's a quote we'll come back to that in a moment but yeah so you can see here look Imam Malik wrote to leithad in a letter he said

2:02:17

foreign says I'm writing to you and you know I'm in God's good grace meaning things are good don't worry

2:02:57

and he says he says you know I I received your letter and I it's good to hear he's saying to Imam late this is my Malik that it's good to hear that you know you you you're in a good State he says well us Allah is I ask Allah to you know to continue his grace upon us and to make us from those who are grateful well for him

2:03:39

because Imam late would often ask Imam Malik for questions he would send him letters and ask him questions and you know it's transmitted that in one version that he sent him over 40 questions like over most of them over 30 plus just said I don't know in today's equivalent he just wrote IDK that

2:04:05

legend legend and he says look I have I've replied to you uh and it says and I've stamped them with my stamp Imam Ali could have this kind of ring stamp that he would wear imamari would often wear his ring in his uh left pinky man and he would sometimes stamp with that as well but he would have a separate stamp that said husband he says

2:04:59

so he's just reminding him that look you know the things you seen me upon and he's just saying this is still the kind of pleasantries and the Gratitude he says look I still continue to think well and well of you know foreign

2:05:30

he says but you've not been writing to me about certain things and keeping me abreast now check this out it says Allah Allah now we're getting to the juicy part he says you know it has reached me that you are giving fatwa in things

2:05:59

says you are giving rulings in fatawa in matters which stand in contrary which stand in contrast and are contrary to that which we which people here in Medina are upon says and people you know you are you have a status people have a need to you okay he says he says

2:06:48

you know you should really be like you should seek the best for yourself he says Allah says in his Kalam in his book that was those who went first from the muhajirin and answer okay is doing here is he's quoting this verse why is he quoting it because these people are the people of Medina okay um ah have I uh oh right I didn't bring

2:07:27

the second part of the letter okay we can bring we can go through the letter another time where you guys can read up on it Imam Malik basically writes him this letter saying to him look it has reached me that you are giving fatawah that are contrary to what the people of Medina are upon and he says let me remind you that it is here he says it is here that the messenger of Allah lived taught and was laid to rest he says it is here

2:08:05

that the angel Gabriel descended it is here that the Quran was revealed and it is here that the laws of Halal and Haram were manifested so he says let me remind you this is Madina that what the people are upon be careful that you go against the tradition of the school of Medina Imam Malik's words were very hard-hitting I mean and to me a person who follows the school of Medina they are undeniable

2:08:44

but he writes this letter to Latham and and and they all friends you know and Imam laith actually you reject obviously he refutes him or tries to refute him and he writes back to Imam Malik in a letter that you can see here that he says to him that look uh try to bring a bit of it up here um

2:09:15

he says look this is part of it he writes back to him says look you know what are you talking about uh people of Medina he says what about him he says you know about let's use him as an example he's one of your teachers didn't he disagree with the people of Medina he says I've heard what you've said about

2:09:44

life he says I've seen The Descent and the disagreement of the people of Madina he says um I believe uh he says and he says and you've disagreed with him he says

2:10:12

he says he used to disagree Lords with the people of Madina and he says and I've written to you about that and he says um and he says that sometimes would disagree with himself he says sometimes zohari would write an opinion and he's forgotten that he's contradicting himself ah this anxiety he says

2:10:51

and he says and this is something Imam late used to disagree with that you weren't allowed to combine the praise for for rain and he says and you he obviously says you disagree you know you know about my stance on this he says he says we've never known as we've never heard of the armies that went out on Expeditions that they would combine between prayers of uh when it would rain in the reign of sham the regions of Shams Syria and so on where

2:11:30

these armies and sahaba when there's more reindeer than Medina how come they never combined and he says he says and you know the prophet praised these people praised them

2:12:11

and all these companions were in different places how come we don't hear about them uh combining between these prayers this is something laith disagreed on but there are sahih Hadith on this you know this Hadith in Muslim from Imam Malik brings the tradition from Abu zubair who's also ironically the teacher of the place where they they say that um

2:12:56

and there are other narrations but uh but it says a whole section dedicated to this saying that look there are Hadith on this and I know late's position was that he wouldn't agree with that so this result you can see it going back back and forth and it's amazing the the disagree humans but they you know you think that right so maybe they hated each other you think that maybe they hated each

2:13:36

other they didn't check this out you know um Imam Malik um he wanted at one point he wanted to marry off his uh you know he was getting ready to marry off his daughter so he writes to laith in Egypt where they have this plan this kind of precious plant called the ursphar and he says he says send me some of this fragrance this thing I think they used it for fragrance

2:14:15

and things like that he says send me some of these I want to I'm planning on marrying off you know setting up my daughter's wedding so he writes to Leith that hey bro send me some of this because he knows that lathe has these things in his own farms and Fields Imam laith sends him they say up to almost 30 camels camels loaded with this [Laughter]

2:14:54

wow wow they say he uses it in his for his daughter's wedding he sells a massive portion of it and makes over 500 000 Dinars that's half a million dinar by just selling and still has a certain portion left which he keeps for himself wow this is honestly this is the kind of love that they had they disagreed with each other on things but they weren't hateful they weren't uh

2:15:34

spiteful they weren't um they they say you know on one occasion um Imam Malik found out that laith was uh had come to the Hajj so Imam Malik sends him a tree full of dates says yes send him this let it meet some some of the the juiciest dates he sends it to him and lathe you know there's this custom that people they don't like to send back an empty tree so if you let's say they send you some food and you think yeah you know we've eaten their food obviously we have to

2:16:14

return the dishes the trays so rather than uh just sending it back empty they they put food in it and send it back but obviously lathe is a guest and you know he's he's in on the HUD so what he does is he fills it with the nerves and sends it back to him of law you know that was the kind of this is the kind of they had they disagree with each other don't agree with them still sending each other gifts

2:16:53

still any opportunity where they find out he's finding out this is you know what it's his daughter's wedding you know what he asked you know they say to Imam Malik said to him you know when he wrote to him saying listen send me some of this us for this plant I want to marry my daughter off and he sent him 30 camels loaded with it Imam Ali wrote back to him saying yeah he says he sent me 30 camels they say Lathrop back saying and you asked for your need

2:17:35

what he says he says and I gave you asked in accordance with your need he says I gave in accordance with what Allah has given me so you asked in accordance with the capacity of your need I gave in accordance with my capacity so and and with the thing that Allah gives you know they say he would give Imam late would give so much not a single year despite being a millionaire for his

2:18:12

day and age not a single year did he have to give zakat because every year by the end of the year his money would have he's finished it or no savings and then there's new Harvest new income every year Allah just keeps filling the portal and the pot keeps growing you know [Music]

2:18:43

Allah see this is the Legacy of Legends that we have in Islam and and they didn't allow these things to um create hatred between them they say that Imam Leith did ask Imam Malik that look why are all these people disagreeing that shouldn't they just be one he says I went uh to you know Abu hanifa's region and I saw he gives the fatwa he says that you can't give like if you give something as an endowment it Still Remains yours and Imam Malik says yeah

2:19:22

that he says that but no we do you know we believe you can give an endowment and then he says but how does he say and then Imam Malik says look people have disagreed and he says but he he disagrees in ibadata as well he says about if you have doubt you could do and he's bringing these and Imam Malik Just Smiles and he says look people have disagreed and Iman late says to him because we can't we Forge a middle path where we we bring all these people together

2:20:00

and you can see how Imam laith is trying to think and that's what he tries to do in his way he says look but we have these Hadith and we can try to Imam Malik says yes but people had their way you see can't this Deen has diversity you can't iron it out

2:20:28

you see you try to do that it will you can't flatten it it will flatten you in the process but Imam laith tried and his mother didn't really live on and some people say it's because his books uh you know he never wrote books and some people say it's because he never had worthy students and I guess that might be true um and I feel in some ways he yeah it's not that he was a legend

2:21:06

and a heavyweight of Islam but it's just that it appears that his way I don't know like it didn't for some reason it didn't catch on as a as a force of Nature and one speculation would be that maybe because it didn't offer a a it didn't offer principles

2:21:43

that seemed so like it didn't because the question was okay these are your opinions but and what because in other regions they were attaching it to a legacy that these are our opinions based on the legacy of Iraq and the sahabada settled there or these are our opinions based on the inherited living tradition of Medina and to him and what these are your opinions and what and he hadn't refined it yet so

2:22:22

you see now Imam a chef he has a statement which is very controversial statement where he says that Lathan Malik that he was more knowledgeable than Imam Malik and he was more following of the tradition of Hadith now I would say that look wow is that true the Latham was more knowledgeable than Malik I don't believe he was more knowledgeable than Imam Malik at all

2:22:58

uh but it is true that Imam said that so what does this mean and I feel that's to this um well what one way to understand this is that you see this is from imam's perspective because Imam didn't agree his way of thinking aligned clearly with Imam Leith

2:23:28

he wasn't into the the whole school of Madina Legacy and he didn't buy it and he wasn't into this thing of welfare that you could derogate and make uh you know you could exempt rulings um based on Wealthy like you could have a verse of the Quran or Hadith and if the welfare dictated you can make an exception he didn't agree with that stuff so this is why you said

2:24:01

you know whoever tries to use this welfare principle is as though he's making up his own Sharia now he any man comes up with this my loyalties to the is not he refines the vision of Imam Lee um and I I feel he becomes even more rigid and a step removed from welfare I think Imam laith was still closer to the welfare tradition as in he

2:24:39

like his where he for example made a loophole for Haruna Rasheed because he believed in this welfare principle Imam he kind of steps away from that and he goes towards this kind of binary rigid uh kind of locked in approach towards the is not the glorification of these not emerges as a principle and and it's not that Imam Malik didn't have isna they obviously did have his not but it it hadn't reached this stage Imam sure he really bolsters he kind of gives

2:25:17

it this Nitro boost so and he is in some ways is bringing some principles that lathe is really planting but they are being harvested by Imam and this is why I feel Imam late's thing didn't take off because he didn't really crystallize his principles so it wasn't people weren't sure what you were offering beyond your opinion and especially because in the day and age they had so many other heavyweights like Malik and uh you know honey

2:25:56

and all these great people so Imam laith did have followers but it wasn't as powerful and was he more knowledgeable than Imam Malik I would argue clearly no because he himself writes to Imam Malik seeking guidance on several matters Imam Malik never writes to him seeking guidance that I don't mean that in a hubris sense but he doesn't right now clearly him writing to Imam Malik is because he feels that he has that knowledge but yes from Imam sure for his

2:26:35

perspective lathe is more knowledgeable because that's what Imam Shafi is interested in to him that kind of sense makes sense Imam Malik's sense to Imam shelter he does not make sense that why you have this loyalty to Medina doesn't make sense what is this living tradition of Medina it doesn't make sense to Imam Shafi why are we allowed to make exceptions based on Muslim wealthy does not make sense to Imam sure why should we turn away from the isnad

2:27:13

for the living tradition doesn't make sense so late sense where he where he doesn't he where he rejects where he criticizes or says look I don't accept it because these Scholars disagreed in Madina amongst themselves and this sense makes sense to Chef therefore he is saying that lathe is because to him that is how reality is

2:27:50

so I hope that makes a lot of sense um yeah so this uh game recognized game it's a bit like that yes so that was the legacy of uh Imam laith who then passes away in the year 175 hijri and he's buried he passes away four years before Imam Malik and he's born maybe one year either in the same year According to some 93 or 94 uh or maybe one or two years depending on where you place Imam Ali after Imam Malik but he's a true contemporary

2:28:30

similar ages if you like and passes away a few years before him and there was a time that all these Legends met but nobody documented their conversation and that Imam Abu hanifa and Imam laith and sophiana thori and Jose and Imam Malik far fantastic fabulous five Legends of Islam and they sat for an entire afternoon having a discussion if only to be a fly on that wall huh

2:29:11

they sat in the prophet's mosque these were the Legends and they never my what what what is one take away from this is that despite their disagreements despite Imam laith being critical of Imam Malik and Imam Malik writing to him saying look it's reaching me that you're giving fatawa contrary to what the people of Madina upon you know behave and despite this they are the first to reach out and if they find out hey uh just you know you know just a this bridge of friendship

2:29:50

that hey let me send him a gift let me send him something how is he doing this year always come to Madina has he let me send him some food this this is true the true that we have in Islam foreign they are taking from the messenger of Allah

2:30:24

and with that we'll wrap this Legend of Islam Latham he passed away on this Shaban 15th of sharpen and some people say he was born on the 15th of Shabba so in many ways it was really just coming full circle for this Legend you know islami may Allah bless thereafter lies may Allah Inspire us to to learn from their legacies and to to try to be like these people and leave a legacy behind Army

2:31:04

right guys I hope that's been of some help I think I've missed some super chats let me just quickly grab some of that uh we've got a right Rahim there's a belief where the suffering suffering that one experiences in this world would function as a way to clean one sin or atonement does a similar thing happen on a community societal level too Raheem shukran much love for the Super Chat may Allah bless you uh yeah I one could could think like that yeah that this could be that if a suffering befalls a community in many ways it

2:31:43

befalls an individual as well and so yeah um you see these are how we that is a uh honestly a truly wonderful way that Islam presents it because when something when a tragedy befalls a people you see this there are many responses now uh one response is to try to remedy the situation that how do you react what do you do to fix if you can fix or salvage or to repair and you do all of that but then there will always be some things that are irreparable

2:32:22

there will always be some maybe some trauma that has been left that can't be undone maybe some damage maybe some loss of life maybe some loss of Health maybe some loss and here Islam really suits that wound by telling you that look for whatever you have lost Allah has placed for you exponentially more

2:32:53

foreign you know some solace and that is honestly that is truly beautiful so yeah may Allah make things easy for anyone who suffer I mean so another question Nora shukran Allah bless you thank you Mufti many of us here really want to learn more about Imam laith uh yeah I remember you saying it a while back as well on I think on on one of the chats or in the in in Discord I think or or maybe as a message you were saying it yeah so that he's an amazing

2:33:32

um uh amazing Legend of Islam I mean um right so right let's um move on oh my God right in light of that actually I'd come across something I thought I'd share this uh whoops what was this ah this was the second part of the letter all right well we've passed that uh so it's fine um

2:34:11

yeah we've already covered that um there it was um right I had right I came across this speaking of how people disagree I thought look this is an interesting um I thought I'd just share it with you guys I came across it descent and disagreements this was a I've mentioned before a scholar of uh our recent past 20th century um you had somebody who done great work on the

2:34:49

Arabic language and literature um and he was known Adib and that is Baha Hussain from Egypt and he done he'd written some works that became quite controversial uh controversial on the Arabic language he has a work for Arabic poetry and I've spoken about this in the past where he calls in to question the authenticity of classical poetry and he feels that it's been it was most of it was invented in classical

2:35:25

poetry in early Islam the umayyad early Abbasid era and then back projected onto these figures so maybe some of it may have had some legitimacy and maybe some of those characters may have existed in people like nerbera and Imran these people but a lot of the Poetry that we have for them is recreated and back projected so this in in Arabic they call it now this made him very controversial and it had a huge backlash and people felt he

2:36:02

was criticizing he wasn't criticizing Islam this is you know by that or the Quran some people said he's trying to criticize the Quran and uh they and he um and they they made up certain claims that he is saying now this is him speaking about the Quran in one of his um Islam one of his works so he says

2:36:36

that the Quran is a is a is a collection a speech if you like that the Arabs had never heard anything like it before the Nabi ever heard had recited it it is in its apparent form non-poetry it did not have these scales but also he didn't have the The Poetry imagination because poetry always and this is fascinating a fascinating observation

2:37:16

poetry always had Thor he says because poetry also had topics themes and motifs none of them are seen in the Quran it does not speak about these ruins because all poetry began with uh

2:37:47

um so they all begin with these crying at the ruins they often are Longing To to meet someone crying over it doesn't describe camels in its poems in their Journeys as most and all these people spent Pages describing just that is

2:38:25

all of classical poetry is doing that the Quran does none of that none of that it doesn't have a result towards women you know this kind of flirtatious speech neither boastful speech what the you know the the the classical poetry heart that is that you know when our child infant reaches uh a weaning of breast milk the great tyrants will prostrate to him in

2:39:02

you see this kind of well you know this kind of this whole poetry of um um boastful uh claims the Quran has none of it neither praise neither this is neither mourning the Dead with poetry does not describe Warfare in a poetic sense at all um and what happens is they would say that look the swords would go around and the spears would fall and the arrows would

2:39:39

descend none of this is in the Quran it doesn't exaggerate it doesn't it exceed it doesn't go in excess it only speaks to people on things nobody before it had spoken to the Arabs on such themes and topics that is a beauty of the Quran and this was an extract from Taha

2:40:17

Hussain in his book Islam the mirror of Islam now because we'd spoken about disputes and descents it's fascinating that people had popularized they disagreed strongly with Taha Hussain and they said that he was somehow attacking Islam he wrote that he wasn't and in fact he was nevertheless people claimed he'd made statements like the Quran has mistakes never nobody's ever shown in any of his

2:40:56

writing him ever saying anything like that even ulama that uh you know have studied him and that have when they've written they've said that he's never said anything like this so you often I've I've myself have read a statement where people are saying he said give me a red pen I will Mark out the mistakes in the Quran he never said this this is not you know this kind of stuff is not a fair you know when people disagree with people should never make up things about them never like that is not the way

2:41:36

and yeah so people and yeah so and whether he's Allah whether he spoke about certain readings of the Quran that may be a discussion but that's actually believe it or not a classical discussion in Islam and so some people did say that certain readings were really just uh aberrations from one reading of the Quran and really they were just itch the heart and in many ways even many people today

2:42:13

say that and I'm pretty sure that's also the uh interpretation of people like Allama that meant the other recitations were simply ichthy heart and many classical people have said that there was ichthy heart and many grammarians were really harsh in fact the bursary school which is the dominant School of grammar and most of our grammar today is uh whether we know it or not is from the bosphi school some of them were very harsh against the reciters of the Quran because they said that that in fact I believe criticized many of them including Nafi by saying he wasn't even

2:42:53

an Arab so we can't even take his his recitation are actually mistakes in Arabic because he was a non-arab and so many people in Islamic history have said things like this that they in their way although I disagree with marzanis and many of the bosari I've always been kind of Pro kufi with the kufa school myself of grammar and I've always found the Boston to be kind of just you're saying not all that really and so but the the and I condemn al-mani's criticism but that said Martini was not trying to criticize the

2:43:32

Quran even though one could say that he by extension is criticizing a uh a reading of the Quran like nafis reading um but in his defense he is criticizing that grammar and saying this is the it's the heart the actual Quran ought to be registered that way in that particular rewire so okay coming back to Taha Hussain as an example so people had popularized and then people had said look you know he said things like this this and this that and

2:44:11

it's never and he's written prolifically and there's never anything in writing where he's ever criticizing the Quran but yeah so somebody had said that um that he had criticized or critiqued is a better word he had critiqued some of the readings as each they had and they said that look so you have this verse in Surah Baha verse 63 that kalu they said

2:44:47

that you know surely these two are just magicians this is the people that you know these two meaning Musa and harun now the Quran in this reading in our popular reading today of the Quran reads so some person and this is this is interesting right because some

2:45:25

person claimed that Hussein had critiqued this a reading of this verse that reads inner that because Ina as all of you that have studied Arabic are aware that it it gives its its noun nasp it makes it Monsoon so in azadan for example then

2:45:59

and that is actually how out of the 14 out of the the ten recitations but the rest all right and out of the 14 hustle basri also reads but to the others sort and out of the the popular narration so out of the ten two what we have popularly today

2:46:41

so it doesn't take you know it doesn't give nosp to what comes after it so it would read it as hadan and also um right I believe uh we'll take a look I think is it also ibnikathir uh who reads it as in but the rest all of them do read it as inner now what's interesting is somebody refuting the Baja saying I thought this was worth sharing he says uh you know he says criticize I'm sorry critiques uh this by saying

2:47:18

that this has a that it's that there is a scriptural like there is a script a writing to do uh orthographers as in to do with the writing the letters and error now whether this is actually true that Taho saying said this or not but I'm not sure of where it's written that he actually said this but this is a point where somebody is criticizing for apparently criticizing the way this is written and saying that inner ought to be then written as haseen

2:47:57

and not hazan yeah so the person then says that Hussein is obviously clearly that you know so stupid because in the Quran it actually says in it doesn't even say Inna had it said Inna then fair enough had it said Inna then fair enough he's got a point we would agree with him but it says in it doesn't even say Inna so you got it wrong little does this guy know that most of

2:48:37

the recitations apart from ours and one other actually reads inner so this is where the ignorance of this person where he's gone to refute a claim and then makes it worse so he goes to help but ends up making it worse and there you can see I included that poem of sheffey that Rama nifan you know he tried to help but made things worse

2:49:12

and sometimes from being good to the parents some people they end up harming them or doing bad to them because sometimes when you're so eager to help you end up causing harm you know like there's a saying in Arabic uh the Contemporary shami proverb they say that about a woman that came to help the bride by giving her like um but she ended up making her blind

2:49:48

it says that she she came to to kind of put kohal in her eyes uh the surma but ended up just blinding her instead you're so eager to help uh so that's just hilarious so this is uh I thought uh you can see here I did bring some of the text and I'll wrap this um this up as well you can see here that look so you can see look

2:50:28

so the majority you read is explain this uh with up to six different opinions and the most uh or the most prominent is that Inna is because sometimes in Arabic and they give the example uh there's a poem

2:50:58

and this is in the the classic poet poet poetry of Abdullah who says that look and the women say to him that white here has now you've got white hair in your head and become an old man and he says in that indeed surely uh and then so they just mentioned look the her in the poetries for this transmission from Abdullah who says to a person who comes and there's a whole story um that the person says you know you want to seek some help from Abdullah

2:51:36

it's a funny story actually because he comes to Abdullah saying you know my camel uh it isn't functioning as well so he says so I believe in this way says tell me what's wrong with it and says hey does this this doesn't really can't go far on it can't do this can't do that so he gives him a cure he says what to do is do this feed it this take it here and then take it to this place so we get some rest and and he'll be as right as rain and the pope and uh and the Bedouin says you know I didn't come to you for this I didn't come to you for advice he says I came to you so you could give me a different camel

2:52:14

and then absolutely just looks at him like you know are you until then he responds by saying you know what God cursed the camel that I wrote to come to you on you know he and her like God and then I I believe there's a beads of response was as you can see here uh he says he says he says yeah and it's right and may God curse him as well you know God damn him as well but but this thing is uh being quoted uh well the judge so the famous crimarian

2:52:53

abusaka is the judge who's the teacher of Allah um he mentions in his TAF seat he says he says I mentioned this opinion of mind this in understanding to my two teachers muhammadiz sorry I know they used to call him that's another story and they both were very pleased to hear it that he says he quoted this thing of

2:53:31

Abdullah to them and they said yep that's epic um so uh disagrees and that's a different discussion also uh you've got here yeah somebody else explaining this at the bottom so Inna can come as a uh so it can mean that as you've got in most of the uh they read it as that um

2:54:11

and I believe in is it but in one of uh in some of the lorats that you get of kanana that they say everything following Ina is always like it doesn't uh sorry sorry in all of these are always magni so they are always static so you always say sorry this is me my Arabic correcting it

2:54:50

automatically according to that Laura that dialect they always read in that way so some people had said this part was in accordance it said in that dialect of kanana and al-harris so so okay these were some of the interpretations the reason I mentioned this was one it was just fascinating and I thought well I'd come across it but also in light of what we're just shared of how people disagree you know when you when we saw how Imam laith disagreed with Imam Malik and it's you know being true to our tradition our Legacy of Islam

2:55:30

that you always maintain a decorum that you always have this that sure that you know people disagree and you could reject an opinion and critique it but to keep that the kind of there is a there is an etiquette and an ethic to descend so I thought I'd share that I hope it's of some help I mean uh right guys let's uh were there any

2:56:09

uh quick questions right uh Imam laith was upon siddle as well yes he was Imam laith also prayed with his hands at the side as is the method of Imam Malik and several other people as well all right I hope that's uh been of some help guys let's wrap this up it's really late I've got an early start tomorrow we've got the classic soda jodake

2:56:45
