are more so about inspiration okay somebody did ask me that oh sometimes some of these stories when they're about these figures we they may not be what you know we can't 100 say this is how they were or this is how they weren't and that's fine you see you're not taking your um you know it's it's not a matter of faith it's a matter it's a story that has a moral to it and if anything you can take inspiration from it okay so with that
an interesting intriguing different and unique love story that takes place between um [Music] so just to set the landscape okay so this is pre-islam um and just let's zoom out for a moment pause this and just get a get the kind of backdrop to what's happening so mcdaddy last word as a child he is
raised in the tribe of kinder kinder are from the southern tribes of arabia i mean they do move into central arabia but they the origin are from the southern ghastani kind of tribes and there's there's a legacy of kingship and it does follow right through into into kinder as well and we've spoken briefly previously when we spoke of uh imra al-qaeda from kinder and a bit about the tribe there as well so mcdad's father whose name was amma
now he goes by we know him as mcdonald but really uh most likely his name was okay was his kind of uh uh his uh adoptive father later on or his kind of foster guardian later on who he becomes known by but his father amr is there's some disagreement where he comes from some people say he comes from yemen um he's actually from the tribe of has some falling out and comes and settles in kinder whatever the story but
they say he was a somebody that in that time of pre-islam when there was of there was all these stories of these kind of warriors and raiding and all this kind of he was somebody who had a a reputation of courage this is father and he has this falling out with some tribe um and because of who he is he thinks right i'm going to move and have a fresh start and he goes and settles with kinder in this in the tribe of kinder and he marries from them and shortly after he he he he has a child who is meghdad
and within a few years he himself passes away so mikhdad grows up in this tribe and he grows up with his he he has an uncle there and this uncle um is jabir now so whether he's his actual uncle or not some people are speculated but the point is he's he's like he he either is his dad's brother or like a brother to his father and he's incredibly well wealthy in kindergarten he has a status and everything and he grows up a bit with him but because now his mother is the only one fending for him and her she's not very wealthy and she's
struggling so he kind of grows up poor and uh he has to kind of do these uh gopher jobs as in you know watch over my cattle or watch over this and you know he's kind of really undervalued so as he's growing up after all he is his father's son and he does have that whole kind of he has this strong stature to him he very like a big build and and he he naturally kind of inherits people say that element of courage and bravery um as he hears of his own father but he grows up very
very kind of uh struggling with circumstances and then to introduce a character into the story right so aswad he grows up whilst he's growing up he his if we can say cousin or like a cousin this jabber's daughter by the name mayasa incredibly beautiful very talented and as as a the daughter of somebody prominent in kinder she has a lot of
wealth spell spent on her she grows up um with with luxury and convenience and a lot of kind of amenities and she's uh very fortunate a lot of opportunities so meghad naturally he he sees her is incredibly fond of her and some say as they grow up there is a mutual kind of chemistry but she too is very familiar of the circumstances that look um even if she does have this chemistry with him this is never going to go
anywhere because this because look at him he's so poor and he's like a nobody and in that day and age that you know you were not going anywhere in life if you were just incredibly poor so as mayasa comes of age she she really ventures into certain she's quite different very kind of uh confident and in addition to being very beautiful but she's very uh brazen and courageous and and she takes a liking to sword fighting and she really
gets into this and she becomes like really proud of being an impeccable kind of fighter swords swords woman okay and she's she has this incredible reputation in kinder that wow that this woman she can actually you know she men don't stand a chance in front of her so what happens is mcdad he's he's around he's there one day he comes to hear that okay now that she's of age and
she's has this huge reputation her father is telling her that look you need to get married at what time i feel like like our disappearance as well they'll be like when the girl reaches a certain age they'll be like yeah this one we need to have for us we gotta do our duty and get her married and they have this sense of urgency when it comes to girls so jabir mayasa's father says you know we've got to get you married come on time time is nigh you know this one so because she's got this reputation now you can imagine in a warrior culture now
let's just take a moment yeah in a culture like arabia back then pre-islam which is if anything the only kind of far-off approximation give is like a viking culture built on raiding and warriors so now there's this reputation of a woman who is this incredible fighter now this is naturally going to pique the interest of many men as you can imagine that would think oh this one it gives that kind of like that feisty element that people think ah so a lot of people were very curious that yeah we've got to
so they start sending their proposals now mayasa wasn't interesting now whether this was because she had a liking for mikdad or whether it was some other reason she was just fed up of men and didn't really wasn't impressed by men whatever the reason but she declines them so her father says look come on you can't keep saying no to suitors so she says okay okay she says okay but with the condition
says condition says i'll marry the man i'll marry a man he's got to be a suitable suitor of course that goes without saying but bart he has to defeat me in a sword fight so the dad looks at her and says look come on really and she says yeah just got to beat me in a sword fight so we both be horseback and he's got to fight me so
dad says look jabba says well tiger he thinks well okay you know what so this news goes far and wide so people start thinking about it so where's my sword they say that uh allah
give me my sword he says that i see that the the war is only but increasing right so a lot of people come and guess who decide guess who also he is amidst all of this abu jahl in mecca this is obviously pre-islam so at that time abu jahl has he has children and he has a son and he hears of this he's familiar of this [Music] of this tribe and stuff so he
he says that look okay you know this this woman may yasa kinda are like an elevated royal tribe they've had kings and kings in their tribe so there's this prestigious woman who has this amazing reputation and um why don't i marry my son uh abu jahl's son is han so he says i want to marry hanzala to her so he turns up so he says he goes to and she says that well this is the condition so at the time abu jahl and his name is amrib by the way abu jahl's name so he says
hmm you know because they do find it a bit insulting because look oh we've got a kind of fight you know this isn't this is very ladylike you know this on not ladylike you know so okay but he says okay we'll set a date so whilst this is happening other people are sending proposals and they're turning up and miyaza is taking them on and every person she takes on she's kind of like decimating them so during this time meghdad
who had grown up and in that time you see many people grew up learning self-defense they most people had some familiarity with self-defense and some more than others and you have to remember mechdad's father was a known worry and therefore you can imagine a child wait growing up with that kind of legacy of my father and therefore trying to also follow in his footsteps and be like a great warrior he himself was rated as like a great fighter but during this time they say that he went to his uncle's village not his paternal maternal uncle and he asked them that look because he
says to his mother i want to marry mayasa so his mother says she says look you know like most mothers they're gonna be like look can you just focus on doing work and getting a job done and take care of these you know these camels and take care of this for the people and ah
you know she's way out of your league and she kind of says to him and then he has he actually says this poem to his mother which kind of uh hits her a bit this and i did bring it up here as well he says a poor person goes and everything in life opposes him and people shut their doors in his face
and people they denigrate him disparage him insult him and they don't even know why they hate him he says even the dogs when a poor person walks past a dog the dogs start barking start showing their teeth this is how they treat a poor person
if they see a rich person the dog see a rich person going it says they kind of bow themselves and waggle their tail and they they bring out their cute eyes and you know this is this is how the world treats a poor person and a rich person so the mother kind of sees the pain in his eyes and and this she says look okay if you want to go to her village and go and you know seek help and so he goes to his maternal uncles and and he asks them to train him as well to kind of like to to kind of polish up his his kind of martial arts with the sword and to give him some good swords and train him and he spends like several
months there and he's training and look at the devotion and the commitment okay you know in life the power of choice huh like that ekbar my commitment this is that same dialogue you can see that here that once i have a commitment that and he commits himself and people are laughing at him and he goes there and he spends months and he's training his training and he was already really good at it but he he's kind of polishing up and months later what happens is um
abu jahl um [Music] he had arranged okay fine i will arrange for my son to to fight to have this kind of sword match with mayasa and they'll arrange it around the outskirts of makkah he they had set a date like we'll set this date in months to come and basically my son can kind of get ready and we'll set a little festival and you know make an event out of it you know like rich people do ah rich people think this is this is rich people problems that will make a festival and will do all this stuff
so during this time and the prophet salla islam is there he's alive but i believe this is pre-prophethood though so the prophet sallallahu alaihi sallam at this stage hasn't uh received prophethood and he hasn't begun the da why this so he's probably the prophet sallam is in his maybe mid mid-thirties so this is that kind of time so
who is by the way only in his late teens that's how old he is he does this training and he hears of this festival this kind of they're making this fear they're kind of setting a date and she's going to go there and so he thinks i'm going to turn up as well and a few other suitors are turning up as well because they think like well you know what it's we'll have a match as well so it will go on for several days because you can't keep fighting on the same day now miyaza is there in all her pride and you know all this extravaganza and she's kind of like and people come up to her and she takes them on and no and it's so humiliating
for them that they are being destroyed and insulted it's like an insult isn't in that society that this woman you can't that she's she's knocked you off your horse and you can't even stand your ground to her this is how it kind of feels to them and you see jabir is her father is kind of he's a bit worried with all of these because he's thinking you know what this is a problem she's just beating everyone and most people this is going to make people shy away from proposing
so this is a problem you know so he's kind of trying to tell her that look you need to uh ease up and she's like no and she's not interested so amidst the crowd arrives the young man and and who's known as that so he arrives but he doesn't want people to recognize him because remember he's he's from he grew he grows up in in mayasa's tribe in kinder and they know him and that's like his kind of
like an uncle to him so although he doesn't he's not kind to him but he knows him so so he goes there and he's kind of molest them he's he's got the kind of the the kind of nick up and he's he's borrowed a horse from his uncle and he's borrowed some weapons and he comes and he announces that i would like to go face to face with mayasa what people will do for love risk is maybe [Laughter] you can go on the battlefield and not
come back alive this may be risky but there's a risk in it but you know in life sometimes you've got to take the risk man so it's interesting with the risk comes the risk so he thinks yeah this is worth the risk so he goes there and he says uh i i i sign up to this um so they say cool so they don't know who he is because he's just horseback and he's kind of molest them he's kind of got this necarban this kind of he's covered his face
so mayasa says fine and she's she's been there for you know whatever how many of the days that they've been there in this fear and and she's defeated everyone and she's defeated them in such a hum with humiliation so she thinks ah yeah hmm just water under a bridge ah another day's work she is surprised oh she's like wow like mcdad is a fighter like she's like what the hell who is this guy
and she goes at it and she takes breaks she and several and this goes on they say like it goes on from like just after noon up until before sunset like she's she's like shocked like i don't wow like i don't i can't believe like this is this is just disbelief and meghdad
like compellingly overpowers her and on some occasions i think she tries to use a spear or something and he breaks it and this is on horseback so he she is like just and remember he's his identity is concealed so she's like and people are like who on earth is that guy so she tries and tries and then in the end again because to defeat the opponent you have to throw them off the horse and he does he defeats her throws her off she falls off her horse she's defeated and she's this mixed emotion because
she's obviously upset she's defeated but then she's kind of so wild who is this she's impressed you don't impress what happened she's like finally this is uh i've you know and there is something about that warrants respect isn't it that kind of there's that in controlled because in power lies you see this in fact jordan peterson speaks a lot about this about having the capacity of being a monster but not being a monster that having power but being tame
in control having composure is something and so she's really impressed so so she says that who are you so now people are all intrigued and he says that look have i won or is there more to this like because before we get into who am i and identity disclosure let's just clarifies is the game still on or do you is this a rematch is this have i won the proposal is
let us make the claim first so she says mayasa says yeah says i accept his proposal says whoever this man is i accept his proposal so at this point mcdad removes his kind of veil so she recognized him obviously she knows him since she was a child this is mcdonald so she says yeah i don't object the dad however jabir turns into the classical amrishpuri character
that you see in bollywood he says you're a peasant you know this guy how the hell can i and he objects and he's kind of like in a huff and a puff and he goes off to his kind of tent and and people disperse and and he says to people look i'm not going to let this happen so mayasa who now has this she's on that frequency the chemistry with mcdonald's dad who's tried hard like look he's had this chemistry for years but when he saw this opportunity of taking
you got a duel you gotta fight it out he went train committed people even his mother was like come on for real who's gonna he's not gonna choose you it's like this for love ah you know hustler that till death we will seek you out but this is what we carry
life in our veins for this is what we do so she's absolutely on board she's eager she's keen she says that this is the guy i'm gonna marry him now jabir amrish puri in this scenario the he playing the typical father-in-law role says the the villain bollywood father-in-law says i'm never going to let this happen so now he he's having an argument with his own daughter mayasa because she says
no i put out this condition i accept he says that no this is uh this guy is a peasant he's too poor so some people come to him and they say look listen you are like royalty in kinder if you go back on your word if you renege what do you think people will think of you like a man all he has is his word and you openly set out this this whole fear and set this out and you had all these people come and try and they couldn't do it and now this guy has done it for you to say i won't do it just shows that
you are you know you're the bad guy like you fall short so he says what do you suggest the guy says look accept it but place the maha ridiculously high and the mahar which exists in islam as well which is really just like a gift that a husband should give the wife but some people abuse it and this is really a jahili custom from pre-islam to abuse these things so the person tells him look just make a ridiculous mouth so he says yeah you got a point so the next day
in front of all the people he says he calls mikdad and he says you know what he says that the proposal is valid and we accept it he lights up this was the thing that he said helpful jabil says but but but a little bit like him he says
so people are listening says the maha is that you will get me for her 400 elite camels 400 elite horses 100 maids like servants 1 000 gold pieces 1 000 bottles of perfume he comes out
with this ridiculous absolute absurd list of demands that in the moment so captivated by the fact that this wedding this marriage has been accepted in a moment of not even thinking not registering what's being said says okay he says okay
jaber thinks says to him look you will get me all these things or you can all the value of all these things basically this and remember there's several people droves of people are witnesses just accepts it he says okay so jaby looks around thinks is this guy feeling okay it says you know you know you've got that meme where the person says to that copper it's where he says the copper that what's going on and he says we've had a
description of uh someone like this lady uh doing vandalism down the road and then the camera goes to the lady and it's it's like an old lady like a pakistani lady in the uk it's like like somebody like our mum's age and the guy says the cop boy says are you feeling okay cop says yes i'm absolutely fine thank you a bit reminiscent of that jabber is thinking are you feeling okay how are you going to be able to and then jabra thinks well it's not my problem do it then go
going back to that mark twain quote where he says to attain success in life often a person needs two things confidence and some ignorance that ignorance in the sense that you haven't thought things through fully because sometimes you have to start walking on the path and the path will unfold and if you sat there trying to figure it out you just frighten the hell out of yourself and think there's no way i can achieve this but you need confidence that i can do it
allah and then you an unawareness of the details but you just set off so mikdad just sets off and now he's thinking well what do i do and back then remember this is pre-islam one of the things that the tribes would do is they would raid and he thinks well because this was their lifestyle they would raid other tribes and raid things and he thinks i'm gonna i know i'm gonna raid some caravans so he sets off and he's not that far from mecca and and he sees this caravan coming with hundreds of camels and he
thinks you know what i'll rate this so it kind of sets a trap and then he surprises the ambushes these people to raid them and they say to him look whoa whoa these are camels in that which are dedicated to makkah for like for religious purposes this is not like a business thing so so they say to him look whoa you know you seem like a very you don't seem like somebody that's like a bandit to someone like what's going on this is one of those what's going on this is where you know you get like
those memes where the fbi which is spying on your phone just says you're right bro sends a message so like what's going on so the so he tells them look this is what's going on he says you're right i'm i acted out of character but i was just so desperate so they actually say look you know your uncle this guy he's wrong to you you this condition is ridiculous he's just setting you up for failure you cannot achieve this and they say you know what we will actually donate to you look at this donate to you there was a few of them they say a hundred camels
each but remember this is just a one thing of this long list of what he has to get so he's overwhelmed he gets these camels kind of takes them puts them in a location and he's thinking what should i do where do i get this money from but he has that devotion i am so in love with mayasa that i must do this this is the path and whilst he's wandering he goes off solo for months few months he's off he's trying to do his thing some people put them in the direction of
some persian sassanid kind of resources that they have certain sanctuaries and certain way they keep a lot of kind of certain amount of whether it's going to be cattle and things and all this kind of stuff and they say to him you know what why didn't you just go raid some of them and he thinks hardpoint is assassinated empire and it's got no shortage of wealth they've got a thousand what did they say a thousand uh what is it uh empire of a thousand different countries and and people and things yeah point so he goes to some of these uh
what could be considered like i suppose what you could consider today like uh massive storages and he tries and he starts raiding them but they have some kind of security and they put up some kind of resistance and he seems to be taking them out they can't that people are like what the hell who's that one guy so even though they're putting up some resistance he seems to be really overpowering them and what happens is back then they had their own kind of breed system like a postal system they would have like a certain person on a really fast horse
that would run to a certain point give another message and that person would run to another point on horseback and so this message because this kind of attack lasts for a bunch of days and it's going on um it reaches the king you know there's this guy and he's attacked and the king is intrigued that it's just one person and you guys are struggling to put up a resistance because they ask for reinforcements the king says
who is this man the king at the time he was parveez the the the the sassanid kisara at the time he says look forget reinforcements he says i'll send a few people he says send an invite to this guy call him to my palace so and and he says look reassure him this is not a trap and he says you can if you want you can give him something as a sign of safety so they so they you know wave a truce and they come on they say look he says
i'm going to seize your stock he says the truth he says forgive me man it's going for a good cause it's going for a love story but i'm gonna have to seize your stuff they say we got something better than this you've got a royal audience and a an invite to meet the king king of kings remember back then these call him
king of kings so mechdad thinks about it he thinks yeah i could rate this stock thing the storage or i could have an audience with the king king of kings let's check this out so he goes off to into persian territory and sassanid soil allah and he's taken into the palace and the king seeing him is quite impressed
that because they say he had a very strong like you could picture back then you must have been like they say he was tall strong built and and like had had this very this kind of aura to him so the persian king is quite impressed with him he says to him that what what were you doing and he says look i'll um he says i was and i was doing my business he says what raiding my storage he says [Laughter] tax income tax this was
a hmrc rate so he says the king what kind of need was there that you needed to that you did raid a place of the shah says look this is a long story man long story this is in series so they tell me he says look i basically i love this girl and this is my thing
so the king says achar and he says and you you're a warrior are you and he says i am. so he says what if you know back then the kings you know like the romans as well they had this love for gladiator entertainment so he says i tell you what he says whatever that list is that and more he says i'll double the value of it you can win it eyes in the gear wherever you go there's a challenge no such thing as free lunches huh you gotta
he says entertainment he says if you can fight it and win it i'll give it to you so he says okay he says what do i have to do he says i'll put you in a in an arena and i'm going to release men that come to fight you as a gladiator basically but they will come in like they will keep coming in droves can you take them on and you can take much more as a reward than what you need
so you see the power of love allah and that the path to determination you know himmata he thinks i didn't come this far to only come this far he says okay let's do it so they put him in they put him in this arena and they start sending out some some kind of soldiers in like let's say in like a dozen but then what the and what mcdad he's like a
renowned he's an elitist you can imagine warrior so but the issue here was not that they send out a dozen because they're just ordinary soldiers they keep sending them so as these kind of fall to the ground more come and more come and they say that he did this and he is fighting and fighting and fighting and they just being unfair in that way and they say that a few hundred had passed like this this is what the reports say and at that point check this out when he wins they say that okay some reports claim that he says that
okay you've unlocked the final stage ah you're unlocking let go you've unlocked the stage we're going to unleash a lion and you have to defend yourself against the lion that and they say he did some reports claimed that they finally unleashed a line and he and he stood his ground against that see sometimes in life if you have that one your eyes set on one thing you just and you see nothing except that
that ekbar my commitment girl that's the you know that i've that it's this or nothing it's you you tariq bins ya method burn the ships it's either it's it's salvation is now just through the through the hurdle through the opposition to the other side and he stands although incredibly weak at the end of
it but he stands victorious they say that you know the kisrah he says all right man he says all right he says this guy says he's something and they say he gives him a reward and people vary some people say he gives him the things he asks some people say he had this specific ring which was worth so much because it was the kisrah's ring and that's not a picture of it but that's just an example that he gives him that ring that was
like triple the value of all those things so he takes this back and with this he presents it and he earns the hand of mayasa and he marries her allahu akbar what a triumphant triumphant struggle and a love story that results in his in his kind of achievement of what he set his eyes and heart and his heart on it's amazing and i just i thought i've got to share that with you guys and he and
in certain reports it's um in the in the coming years after that he comes to because he's already familiar with makkah because at that time he comes there and he's familiar and he he builds a bond with somebody in makkah who's by the name of aswad and his kindest from that tribe that he's originally from but in mecca and when he comes to mecca apparently um that person as word declares his guardianship for him says that you know what this is like my son so this is why he's known as mechdad and he becomes known by that name according to the makkans
and what happens in the coming year or two he hears of the prophets that were to islam and you know it's it's so true you know the hearts they see the hearts allah the souls have a language of their own and no sooner does he come in contact with the prophet sallallahu alaihi sallam and the prophet's words that his heart opens and melts to it and he tells the prophet that look i embrace this message he is some people say he's one of the earliest people to embrace islam some people say
maybe he's the seventh or within the first ten people that embrace islam but he asks the prophet in early days to allow him to keep it a secret because he was getting that guardianship of us what meant a lot for him and the prophet of course and you see islam was always about accommodating and making ease people have come so much they've made such a difficult journey to reach the prophet no you must declare openly you are no no no it's all cool be who you are stay who you are so long as i can connect you to god allah
and he has this this this love for the prophet honestly he since he meets the prophet sallallahu alaihi sallam he has this such he holds the prophet in such esteem that they say you know when the prophet did hijrah after hijah he himself he's still back in mecca and some of the non-muslim tribes the quran the quraysh tribes are setting up groups to hunt people that are doing hijrah so he in the guise of them along with a friend of them joins their kind of group hunting group and sets out towards medina
where they plan to ambush muslims this is before the battle of uh badr i believe so this was at the um what was it i believe but they he they go the and he then um defects to the other side to the muslims and shouts and they go off and this really freaks out people like abu sufyan because uh they've realized that oh we might so we've got maybe we've got muslims in our midst that we don't know about so he kind of calls off the attack but in his days of islam he not only witnesses every
difficult situation with the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam but you know in the battle of buddha which was the first time muslims were authorized allah says that those people who have been oppressed allah has granted them permission that they raise arms in defense this was the first time muslims were going to raise on the the kind of stand in a military defense in the battle of badr and you know when they got the there was the muslims were very underequipped and they were really going for
the caravan because the muslims had lost a lot of wealth and they so this was a strategic thing to the caravan was coming to get the caravan because it would have had a lot of goods that would have equally belonged to many of the muslims because they'd left when the muslims left makkah the non-muslims had seized their assets and seized their homes and all their wealth and everything so this was a chance to get back some of their wealth now but the risk was that the quraysh were also approaching with their army so which comes first the caravan or the and the muslims were hoping it's just the caravan they were not ready to fight
because they were there were only 300 odd people and they didn't have many weapons and they only had a few people had had horses and and they were really you know they were not the morale was low and you know in that time um some of the people some people they were speaking of quraish and they were saying damn you know this this is how they've set off and croatia like this and even um saying that oh my god you know croatia have always they always just you know fall short and people are very critical in that critical mindset and
the morale is that uh oh what if war breaks out what if we come face to face with the army of quraish what are we gonna do and the prophet salallahu alaihi sallam could see the morale was low and see it's impacting the prophet as well because he is amongst these people and he's leading them and you know when the flock around you is in low morale and you need to show them the way and sometimes you can't help but absorb because the prophet saw is super and massively
uh empathic so the empathy and it drains your empathy sometimes in that time you know it's transmitted that the prophet is looking at people and it's he's slightly he looks as though he's a bit upset like as in he's a bit sad not upset but a bit sad and they say mikdad said to the prophet brother that he said to the prophet he said he said listen he said that he said if you go he said if you march forward he said we will not be
like how the israelites said to musa in the quran that is that the verse of the quran that they said to moses you and your lord go and fight we shall sit here and relax basically he said no he said that know that if you go we go with you
that he said that even if you go if you have to go through an abyss we will go through that with you this they say that his words they really the prophet salallahu islam lit up because it's so you know sometimes words are all it takes and showing that solidarity they say that with that the prophet islam he stood and he told people that look we will stand firm and he led and even though the caravan came but the army of quraish had come first
and the battle of weather took place and the believers were triumphant they were successful even though before they were kind of all in dismay and many people there was low morale but when they won they say that they were so that they echoed the words of nazareth an amazing personality within islam i i really want to share that with you guys because i thought it's such a powerful story and and a personality who begins even pre-islam has this this amazing legacy these stories and this
pursuit for love and even when he comes to islam his dedication and commitment for the prophet and for islam is something we all are indebted today people i hope that's been been of of great use to know so let's move on
