Why did the prophet mimic the Jews so much in the beginning of his prophethood? This is an interesting question. Um You see because there's many people who now when they study Islam that look many of the Islam revisionists and other people they felt that the um that Muslims were really just an offshoot of Judaism.

0:31

That they were just a kind of uh a new movement that was really still part and parcel of Judaism. Um And that's what for example Hagarism they claim was Hagarism from Hajar from Hagar. Uh Now I I don't obviously I don't agree in that sense with what they're saying but I can see this this this reasoning this line of reasoning.

1:06

It's to do with why were there so many simi- similarities and that's because I feel that maybe maybe because obviously we share a tradition the Abrahamic tradition. Maybe because the prophet Sallallahu alaihi wasallam as he was distancing himself from the polytheists he was nearing himself uh or drawing on a greater proximity with the people of the book with the Jewish people and the Christians.

1:40

Because you see that's what happens in the dynamics of otherness. That when you draw a distinction you you kind of end up more becoming closer. I mean there is obviously the backdrop that these are people of the book anyway. So, yeah.
