Rise Above The Crowd

assalamu alaikum folks we have been born to achieve yet many of us don't [Laughter] you'd agree with that think of any person that you deem to be successful be it in the deen or the dunya anyone that epitomizes success for you you could think wow that person has an outstanding career or an amazing business or an or mind-blowing relationship you think wow what a lucky person or in their personal health or personal goals

all of these people have a secret key ingredient that sets them apart now there's many factors that go into success unquestionably hard work talent creativity ideas the opportunity but many of us have had these they they are hard working many people are prepared to put in the effort they've got the skill they've even had the opportunity and the idea for years yet they've not achieved anything so what sets this exceptional few apart it is the ability to rise

above the crowd to stand apart to take that untrodden path to to lead on their personal goals this takes courage i want you to think about this ayah from suratul anam one amazing meaning that we take from it allah says

if you follow just the majority the herd the group you the luka ansa bill they will take you away from the path of success they only follow a group think this group mentality they've missed the mark you see because it takes courage to step away from the group think mentality an amazing saying and you'll love this

but in our societies the opposite of courage is not cowardice it's conformity that just belonging to the group even a dead fish can go with the flow [Laughter] so just think about that and i'll share something else with you that in psychology you have something known as the bystander effect that let's say there's a victim or somebody collapses and there's somebody to witness it or two people or three a small group they come and help this victim and that's

wonderful now imagine the same scenario and there's an even larger group there's 15 20 25 people you think that's even better there's going to be even more help no incorrect research shows that the victim is less likely to be helped in the presence of larger groups and they may not receive any help at all or if they do it's with much more delay now why is that it's baffled psychologists they've rattled their brains one theory is the diffusion of responsibility that people are passing on the book

inhuma he's only here to help you but when you're in that group you're blinded by this herd mentality so just we can think how many times in life have we missed out on certain opportunities because of public opinion of others what will others say of our own friends the peer pressure or maybe our families have held us behind so we have to rise above the crowd we have to have the courage to lead on our personal goals to take that untrodden
