life presents us with choices and there comes a time when we have to make a decision okay i want you to think back about your own lives whether it's 10 years ago 15 years ago five years ago you must have made some decision which as a result of today your life is completely different
have you done something else you went to a different university you didn't turn up somewhere on a particular day and end up meeting who's going to be your spouse or you did not i don't know you took a different route one day and came across a job opportunity or you've read something or you decided to but your life today is different because of that decision whether it's for better or for worse but it's different had have you taken a different decision that day today things would have been entirely different
so this is what it's about life presents us with choices and we see opportunities but here's the here's here's the spanner in the works we are creatures of habit okay of the familiar you see many people are stuck in life in a in a job for example they don't even like
or some people are stuck in a toxic relationship or some people but the the key issue here is that the job is simply familiar it's discomforting but it's familiar they are in a toxic relationship but it's familiar they are suffering their lifestyle but it's familiar you see we would prefer
the familiar even if it's discomforting we would prefer that over the unfamiliar possibility see the familiar even if it's causing suffering rather than the unfamiliar horizon and in many ways one could argue the word insane is mushtaq it's derived from the word uns
which is familiarity and because of this but this is where we have to explore the unfamiliar "an laysa lil insan illa ma sa'a" Insan will only have that which he or she strives for let me give you an example from the lifetime of the prophet salallahu alaihi was sallam all too all i mean so well known to all of us the hijrah the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam in Mecca
you are the most beloved of places to me so familiar but because of the difficulties the struggle there was an unfamiliar possibility yathrib or as we know it Madinah alMunawwarah (the Enlightened city) and this unfamiliar possibility that the prophet went towards went on to change the course of human history
you and i, i'm sitting here a muslim today you whoever wherever you're watching this because of that unfamiliar possibility the prophet taking that route and this was not only to change the lives of people like you and me but human civilization as we know it sometimes we have to embrace the unfamiliar we have to take that risk in life we have to take that chance and life could be something else and our legacy can speak for itself in the words of Mir Taqi Mir, he says: "Kahein kya jo puche koi hum se Mir, Jahan mein tum aye the kya kar chale"
what shall we say to them if they ask that you came in this world but what legacy did you leave behind leave you with that have a blessed day folks, Wasalamullah alaikum, wa Khuda Haafiz.
