Closer to Home than you think!

Assalamu alaykum folks. Had a few minutes amidst a cup of coffee. I thought I'd share something with you that'll help you in developing your personal relationship with the Quran. We've all come across it. Incredibly popular surah from the short suras at the end. And ma means household utensils, utilities, basic things, essentials like pots, pans, basic food items, right?

And a perspective on this surah that will blow your mind. You may never have thought of it like this. And how to make it how to make the Quran add meaning to your daily lives. Let's pause that for a moment. Put it there. Many people ask a question. How can I get close to God? That's the question. How can I get close to God?

You know, how does that even hap how does that happen? One answer that leaps right in front of us if you read the Quran is is is [laughter] in serving his creation. Serving his creation is the secret in getting closer to God. [sighs and gasps] famous hadith in Sah Muslim that Allah says, "I asked you, oh children, I asked you to feed me.

I was hungry and you didn't." And the person says, "Yeah, how can I feed you? You are the Lord of the world." Allah says, "So and so, that man, that woman, that child asked you for food. You did not feed them. Had of you fed them, you would have found me there.

The secret to getting closer to God. Let's get back to that surah. Bring it back. Okay, let's go through this quickly. Do you not see the one who denies the reckoning? Reckoning. Okay. [clears throat] So, it doesn't say denying Allah or revelation or prophets or reckoning accountability.

Who's that? That is the one who shuns an orphan. Some of the one of the most vulnerable people on this globe. Shuns them. The the hungry, the needy. He does not he's not interested in feeding them. Couldn't care less.

Wow, what a horrid person. Like we're going to think, wow, what a low life here. But then Allah and this part will now blow your mind here. So Allah goes on to curse. Say, damned. Whoa. You know these people are cursed. Which people? Who do you think? [snorts] Alkalah the stingy. Is Allah going to say, you know, these people are cursed?

The misy, the extra, the extravagant, the the who transgress who commit all kinds of acts. No. What? Those who pray their salah.

[laughter] Whoa. What have they got to do with this? Not damned and cursed are those who pray their salah. [laughter] Whoa. I was not expecting that. You see, if you get people, we're reminded you the good Samaritan story.

The wounded, injured, fallen on the way side. The rabbi is too eager to get to the temple. Doesn't help him. You see, self-righteous I pray holier than thou. these people is that they don't they've neglected the true meaning of worship of salah.

They're just doing this as a self-righteous show. and the the concl this the finale. Yeah, they're praying but they prevent they do not share their household utensils, their household utilities, the basic basic foods with their neighbors that the prophet said that that person has not believed in me who went to sleep with a full stomach

whilst his neighbor was hungry. That is the secret. Serve the creation. There's an Udu poet Nidaf Fuzli. His one of his poems just rings straight to mind. He says that the masid from my home is way too far. I tell you what, how about this?
