okay so i think this is it let's see i don't know if you guys can hear it because right i take it you should be able to can i hear it i don't think i can hear it one second let me just go into audio uh right where is it
so um just one second let's try to connect see if i can connect to that
um okay i think that's connected let me come back all right so this was my by the way so we'll just come to his message this is
they would call him he was incredibly passionate about mantec about logic so he had the name or sometimes he was from a section a part of pakistan and he taught her sahih muslim okay and he was i have to say he left an indelible mark in our honest all every single person who took his class
can never forget him i would read sahih muslim in his class and it's he was just so animated and i'll speak about him in a moment and let's go this was just a short clip somebody sent it uh the other day and he's just speaking saying a gentlemen talking
allah let me tell you something about afterlab you know honestly this man is an absolute legend he's one of these people that in his class it would be for many people a potential nightmare okay going through his class but once they've been through it they it will be the most you know reminiscent it will be what they will when whenever they look back in nostalgia they'll always see his class he was so
animated so um just full of life and so he he was funny he was uh i mean i don't know if he was trying to be funny but he was uh hilarious at times he was so passionate so passionate and he had like um you know he spoke his mind like he wasn't concerned about political correctness he wasn't concerned about filters he's just no filter you know back then it was a different day and age back then you know we're talking like the early 2000s so about 20 years ago we're talking so
and he looks just as young honestly he looks just as young so this is exactly what he looked like back then he had that kind of orangey can then i i don't know now it seems to be less orange but he had like more of an orangey beard than the mendy style i need to wear that hat used to sit there and he'd go here baba that was his kind of catchphrase and he would just start the class and he had these strange and he would begin in arabic and and he wanted you to memorize the arabic
that he said it verbatim so if he's going to say um he read sahih muslim let's say i read the text now he would then begin his commentary he'd say so let's say speaking like this is
telling you all these people disagreed and he said this and malik said this and sofiana thought he said this and you're just listening and then he would want you to the next day repeat it to him but not just the content verbatim so if he said and sophian you have to say and sophia if he said however ishaq you have to say however it's it was like what it was crazy honestly i remember he he was once teaching his uh his class and he would
do it in arabic so he's going speaking away speaking away and you know our class so so the way it worked is you had your island course which was to become a scholar you studied the books and the foreigners section was segregated it was separate to the national the home section and the final year where you study the major books of hadith was combined so it was the foreigners and the home students all together in the larger so as an example in our foreign section in our class were probably about 10 or 12 students that's it when you come to the foreign section we
were like 85 students okay so you can imagine every you know we were it was us and then all of the the home students so some of them their arabic was often weak because the foreigners our section was taught entirely in arabic because people from all over the world some people from the uk america europe africa middle east you know asia's in thailand indonesia malaysia so the way it worked was they would just teach in arabic now for the the home students what they
called um the mulkey shawba uh they would teach them in urdu so when it came to dorathol hadith initially these teachers began all teaching in arabic but it was too difficult for a lot of the local students so they couldn't kind of grasp it because they weren't used to that but some of the teachers so a lot of the teachers kind of stopped doing it and some of them continued and uh
he continued so he would do a certain amount in arabic and then he'd do the rest in in order to explain it so he was once he was some of the guys are just lost
and he goes he goes he goes like what are you thinking that he's trying to impress us with his arabic [Laughter] like you're trying to he's trying to like you know really overdo it with because it's this is what you're thinking he goes well he goes if i don't try to impress you with my arabic he goes
and his lessons were always so full of energy honestly amazing stuff and when he would turn oh my god he would really tear into some of the students as well really rip into them and this is what i mean he had like no filter and it was like she would just rinse them if you want to if you if he was going to rinse this is obviously in a non-polit you know non-political correctness era and it was just hilarious honestly it was something else and you you couldn't in a way you couldn't get enough of his class
and i remember once he was uh he was teaching his class he was teaching sahih muslim and he's very he's very kind of like a man's mind very kind of you know he wasn't soft or uh didn't have that tender side to him on display at least and i remember once he was um teaching and he begins and he starts the the math he would call it you know the allocation of the schools of thought that imam malik said this and he said this and he replied to this chapter heading with
this and you and he starts doing taswa he goes he goes that that we had loads of friends and some of them like when we were young went off and became engineers and some became maybe professionals and doctors and some businessman and some traveled to saudi and some did all sorts
and then he says he kind of looks at the book sahih muslim he said it's an uncrowned kingship allah honestly it was the man was fire in his uh he was amazing and i used to i used to love having this kind of like sometimes we all did this little banter you could slightly provoke him he had to be he had to be weary because he would
really he would like ah it'd be like thunderbolts coming down at you and so yeah amazing stuff and he would do all these things like uh he'd put people on the spot i remember he would sometimes because you had to be paying attention in his class so he'd be he'd like sit up he'd have this kind of like a like a raised kind of platform that he would sit on slightly raised and and he would be like whilst somebody like let's say i'm reading the text people are following you meant to be following the lesson so he'd be
kind of looking like this if he saw anybody not looking at the text like looking about somebody go hey hey he'd be like stand up and then you'd be you would say to them [Laughter] say where were you looking it's a and in arabic he would say aegin like you have to so imagine somebody just said i was looking at no no no no he says he would say specify the student that you were looking at
and you'd be like uh huh like let's say i mean this never happened to me ever thank god but he would say specify so so the student would have to specified say like him and then he would be like he'd be like ask him why was he looking at you [Laughter] he's such a honestly oh my god it was it was hilarious he just brought this energy to to the
class that he brought it to life yeah he was something honestly something everybody admired him i mean they were absolutely petrified of him in a way in a way but but he really loved his uh and he had this deep profound love for the study of hadith in the sense that it went back that he was teaching something sacred to do with the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam and he would uh often cite like how imam malik
when he sat for hadith he would he would kind of wear fresh clothes and bathe and perfume and he would not be disturbed and and it's not it's not about the those actions but that sentiment and he said that he would never um [Music] miss a single lesson of teaching hadith that no matter what the calamity and on an occasion you know may allah make it easy for him and on an occasion his son died
or his child i believe it was his son this was before our time but he still came into class and read a tiny amount and then went this was his devotion to god by serving a a science that connects him to the prophet of god sallallahu alaihi and it was this devotion you know he spoke volumes you know and so so he had that kind of if you want to call it banter humor
he had that kind of charm he had that you know he was extra animated as a character and he he would kind of like jump up suddenly and he would do all these kind of things but he had this uh deep profound devotion and this is what really was so hard hitting because we you had this side to him and i remember uh it is a different time you see and i hope but in pakistan so for example people were allowed to um
people are allowed to be licensed carrying weapons and i'm sure he doesn't now but at that time there was this one time he came to class and his uh his his shirt kami's had got ripped like he was on the motorbike and it kind of ripped his gummies so as he came in he said like he was sitting down he was talking and he said oh look this has got ripped and one of the students was a tailor that used to operate within the school so he said milan i'll get it stitched up for you so he said could you said yes so
he kind of takes this shirt off yeah so as he takes his shirt off he takes this this gun out and he puts it [Laughter] and he hands and then he realizes oh my god like what am i doing like everybody's just everybody's like and he he goes he goes this karachi
he says karachi has become dangerous and he says a lot of people are snatching motorbikes and if they come to snatch my motorbike he goes i'll give them my motorbike so i'll shoot them right from the back he was honestly a loving uh loving person honestly he you know there was this time he came in once and and i'll wrap it with this he
he came in once he opened the the darts and he it was a hadith um i think it's [Music] believed that it's in sahih muslim that that they both that the prophet salallahu and the companion are riding on this camel and the prophet says to my heart that do you know what rights what are the rights of god upon
man upon people and what are the rights that people have upon god and just as the person was about to speak and read like he he himself you know abdullah and he was looking at the text and and he just started crying honestly
and he just kind of like held his face and he just just kind of froze up and everybody went pin drop silent in the class and then he just closed it and he couldn't and he just went and we we were like really just kind of cubs marked and we were all just really we we need to find the hadith like why was he because he just began reading it
and then he kind of went silent reading and and the hadith was that they that the right of god is that they acknowledge god that this professing is testifying this embracing and that god's right is that he gives them eternal bliss
and it was so profound wallahi like because he was you know like he was like a man man he was like you know one of those he wasn't and yeah it was um it was something see like i think of it and it was like as if it was only yesterday and it's been maybe some 20 years now but may allah bless him you know some definitely he he kind of really brought it to life for us
yeah but that was abdullah al-manter we'll speak more about him maybe another day so
