As-salamu alaykum, folks. I really want to share something with you guys today. It's twofold. One, some guidance for those who have either been through or are going through uh profound grief. And the second that a reflective insight on a hadith. So, firstly, anybody that is and we will all at some stage in our lives come face-to-face with such a traumatic event.

0:38

The passing of somebody near and dear to us. That how would that person want you to be? How would they want you to react? How would they want you to handle this event? They would want you to be strong. That to hold it together.

1:02

It is incredibly important that you keep that at the forefront of your mind. The second matter that when my mother passed, actually, and I was there with her afterwards awaiting the medical people at her bedside.

1:26

Overcome with emotions. At that point, I did this hadith, which is so popularly discussed. The in the mayyit layu'azzabu bibuka'i ahlihi. Uh uh that the the one who passes is punished by the crying of his or her family members.

1:50

The this hadith for the first time see it dawned on me whilst I was there that ah everybody discusses this from the angle of how could Allah punish somebody for whether it wasn't their actions that the soul can only be held to account for its own actions or some people say they are punished or some the Hadith of Aisha saying Abu Hurairah misheard this and got it got it incorrect that it was speaking about something else but it dawned on me that the verb is passive.

2:25

Not in Allah layu'azzib but innal mayyit layu'azzab bibuka'i ahlihi alaihi that the deceased person is tormented because they still have even though they've passed from this dunya they still have a connect with us through they are still consciously connected to to us through a hayatin barzakhiya.

2:54

That they are tormented by their family members breaking down and in such a state that the knowledge of this the awareness of it it torments them because they don't want to see you in such a broken state. That innal mayyit layu'azzab layu'azzab passive verb bibuka'i ahlihi alaihi.

3:22

And this dawned on me right there for the first time ever I thought wow like people are debating whether it's A or B but there's a whole different insight on how to look at this Hadith and it's actually very therapeutic and healing and helpful for people going through that. May Allah ease all of our struggles amen. I look forward to speaking to you more salaam Allahu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh.
