**Topics:** Imam Malik

**Summary (not a quotation; machine-made, unchecked):** Imam Malik was born in Madinah around 93 AH into an Arab family of Himyarite origin, with a Companion great-grandfather and a grandfather among the tabi'un.

## Longer summary

Mufti Abu Layth introduces Imam Malik, saying he needs several sessions. He says Malik was born in Madinah in 92 or 93 AH, about eighty years after the Prophet, an Arab of the Asbahi tribe, a branch of Himyar from southern Arabia. In a digression on Qahtan and Adnan, he says the genealogies may have been reshaped after Islam, that some held Qahtan descended from Isma'il, and that there is little archaeological evidence for the Qahtani narrative. He says Malik's great-grandfather was a Companion who fought alongside the Prophet, his grandfather Malik was among the tabi'un and one of the few who prayed over Uthman, and that Malik transmitted a little from his father Anas and from his uncle Abu Suhayl.

[0:00] let's speak a little bit about Imam Malik because I want to speak um introduce him as a personality and we can then go on to taking some of you live the legend people of Imam Malik ibnes Allah let me just leave that up there and I'll just see I did you know I because there's so much to say I did think to myself you know I'll just make some little tiny bullet points so I don't forget

[0:38] um because about Imam Malik we have to really do multiple sessions we can always come back to the Imam because this is so much about him if I right so oh damn what have I just done Okay so

[1:05] let's start off with a brief introduction Imam Malik his name okay now he is born in Medina in 92 or 93 history so that's about 80 to 83 years after the prophet salallahu alaihi wasallam he is of our of Arab origin as you'd imagine he's from a tribe known asbah he's called

[1:45] very famous tribe and the hemir um are a well-known um Branch if you like [Music] they were involved in many uh dynastic kind of mini um maybe not Empires but small uh scale civilizations in southern Arabia pre-islam so there's a lot of history to the hemorrhoids and you can check that up and maybe we'll cover that in another day they have more from um and we can I have got a a Mind Trap

[2:24] where I discussed the Arab lineage and and stuff and there is this huge thing on a side note what is Adnan and hmm maybe a lot of this is reshaped and reformed post-islam especially meant and so people called the katanina and they called the Adnan and that they are from Ismail Islam but then you get many people like right from the sahaba transmit you'll get these people saying no the

[3:01] qatan is from Ismail Islam they use this Hadith the prophet said they use this Imam bukhari goes with that you get what's his name um uh what's his name is on the tip of my tongue he goes with that a lot of these people seem to um but then as Islam progresses they seem to say no well actually the katanin was separate and these people were

[3:41] separate and there wasn't really any um foreign there isn't much archaeological evidence to support the whole Kahani thing there was something that was found that said gatan and it wasn't really sure whether carton was was describing a region a settlement or a people but anyway I digress let's get back to the topic IBN Malik and this anas is not the sahaba and the Malik it's just his so Malik so his granddad is called Malik as well

[4:19] is a companion of the Prophet who witnessed several um battles with the prophet as well so he was that close uh with the prophet Muhammed his son Malik who's Imam Malik's grandad was from the turbine he was somebody that was played a or had a a presence in Medina amongst the Muslims he is one of the few people who prays over uthman when he is murdered um so this is how so this is the kind of

[4:58] lineage that we're dealing with that you've got wow these people have played such a role in Islam and Imam Malik's father anas he they say Imam Malik does transmit Hadith from him so he may have had some small presence in the Islamic tradition but not much his brother so Imam Malik's Uncle Abu Sohail is known for transmitting Hadith and Imam Malik does transmit from his uncle about swahil so this is the family his father Anis
