## Longer summary

Mufti Abu Layth is asked for his view on Shaykh Ramadan al-Buti. He says al-Buti was a great scholar, definitely a scholar of his time, and that he benefited from some of his books, especially his question-and-answer volumes Ma'a al-Nas, of which he owns two. He says it is a shame that al-Buti got caught up in the politics in Damascus and Syria. He recalls meeting him and attending a few of his packed live lessons at a masjid. He prays that Allah grant him an elevated station in Jannah, remarks that such matters always become political, and mentions a dispute between al-Buti and, he thinks, Shaykh al-Yaqoubi and their followers.
