**Topics:** Sahih al-Bukhari (BukhariGate); Sunnah versus hadith; Authenticating hadith

**Summary (not a quotation; machine-made, unchecked):** Not necessarily: Mufti Abu Layth says al-Bukhari did an excellent job, a hundred unreliable reports among eight thousand would be no big deal, and great scholars disagreed in their rulings.

**Checked position (checked by two independent reviews, not by the channel):** Mufti Abu Layth says that if even a hundred of al-Bukhari's narrations were found unreliable it would be no big deal compared with the eight thousand he has.

**Evidence, his words at 5:44:** “Imam Buhari has approximately over 8,000 narrations in his book if let's say 100 of them even have issues with them and are unreliable and eventually declared to be unacceptable that's no big deal” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RM4jHsWJ_uM&t=344s)

## Longer summary

Mufti Abu Layth says he will show that the crying-tree reports are not established and that he does not believe these incidents happened. Mufti says Sahih al-Bukhari is an amazing effort to preserve the hadith, but Imam Malik and Abu Hanifa taught a difference between hadith and sunnah, and Imam Malik rejected several hadith with valid chains, as his Muwatta shows. He says that if even a hundred of al-Bukhari's roughly eight thousand narrations were found unreliable it would be no big deal, while warning against dogmatic blind following. He cites a hadith scholar [?] saying that a connected chain in al-Bukhari does not make a report certainly valid, and lists many hadith critics, among them al-Bukhari, Muslim, Abu Dawud, al-Nasa'i, Ahmad and Ali ibn al-Madini, who disagreed in their rulings on hadith.

## Transcript (machine tier, 4:30–7:38)

[3:49] blasphemy blasphemy right first of all right we do not live in fifteen sixteenth century people okay you need to chill out with all this kind of like blasphemy and heathens and pagans and all this kind of speech right we we live in the 21st century welcome to 2018 okay just to start off with secondly right I I wanna touch demonstrate going to do two things I'm going to

[4:29] explain this situation and the greater context but before that I'm going to demonstrate that these hadith are not established okay these I do not believe these incidents to be true and I do believe that these chains are inaccurate right now I'll go through some of these for you right now I know there's a few chains but I'll go through the strongest some of the strongest ones and then you can I mean you can get gained from that an example of other things now I want to highlight that look

[5:06] Sahil Bihari yeah it's an amazing book it's an amazing effort to preserve the hadith of the messenger of allah salallahu lism however Imam Malik Imam Abu Hanifa these great Imams taught us that we differentiate between hadith and some man not every hadith is a Sunnah Imam Malik rejected several hadith despite them being so he having a valid chain he rejected them outright and this is evident in his motto but let's come to this point

[5:44] you see Imam Buhari has approximately over 8,000 narrations in his book if let's say 100 of them even have issues with them and are unreliable and eventually declared to be unacceptable that's no big deal compared to the overall 8000 that he has he still did an excellent job but what we shouldn't do is become blind following kind of dogmatists that we refused to look at the evidence when you look at the great

[6:21] scholars of hadith like al-hafiz a node in a hierarchy when he's speaking about Buhari he says look just when what our ruling on Bihari is that the chain of hadith if it is connected we will declare its aji but that does not mean he says that does not mean la he says this does not mean anomic don't miss a hottie that this is certain certainly valid he says because it's very possible that these people made mistakes then these great scholars of

[6:59] hadith like abuzer are like a yubisaki Ani like shush Shabba like workday I like Sophie an authority like imam malik like a Behati Marazzi like al haqq him like al-bayhaqi like all these Bihari Muslim abu dawood it nabi Dawood all these great scholars of hadith Nessa either put me they all disagreed yeah I mean yeah he decided in a hot pan I leave non Medini all these scholars disagree on rulings of hadith so just because Bihari here agrees on one thing doesn't mean others do let me

[7:37] give you an example so this chain of hadith for example that let's take the hadith of Jabbar that the Prophet had this tree that used to cry and make sounds and scream and stuff like this now this a hadith that Buhari transmits from aurora great hadith known as a benign who transmits from Abdullah he didn't Ayman al Habashi from his father a manner Habashi I'm assuming from jabya now let's just take that one as an example in this chain after what he did nabi Ayman sorry
