**Topics:** Prophethood and miracles; Quran-only movement; How to read the Quran

**Summary (not a quotation; machine-made, unchecked):** The guest says calling the Prophet the best of creation is an unprovable inference contradicted by verses and reports favouring Abraham; Mufti Abu Layth says the guest rejects inference for that title while relying on inference to say what breaks the fast.

## Longer summary

Mufti Abu Layth recalls that earlier, when the word 'light' could be understood as the Prophet, the Quran or guidance, the guest said the Quran negates the other readings and that one must not ascribe to Allah what he did not specifically say. The guest says the 'lie' he spoke of was the phrase 'best of mankind', which is a qualifying superlative Mufti cannot prove. Mufti says it is inferred from the Prophet being a mercy for the whole world, a title nobody else has; the guest says being favoured and a mercy cannot make him the best when verses negate it, since the supplications in the Sunnah place Abraham above him and a report in Mufti's own books has the Prophet say that the best of creation is Ibrahim, so the matter is debatable. Mufti replies that the guest could say he disagrees with the inference, but instead claims that no inference is possible at all, and points out that the guest has just inferred from 2:187 what breaks the fast when the verse does not say it.

[1:45:56] If it was always permissible during the whole day then God is giving you empty language. There's a reason why God is putting it in the Quran because it's but he hasn't said it though because it's negating to you. So and as you go further it stays to you very clearly. This is called adverse judgment. It's called adverse judgment. It's called implicit. I can't finish a verse man. I can't finish a a point. Please do. Please do. Please do. No, it's okay. You keep saying please do and then I started to talk and then you're going to tell me about the the abstract points that I'm making.

[1:46:26] Sure. But just so what look to clarify a point earlier in this conversation when we were looking at an exact definition of a word which Allah does say n and it could be understood in let's say many ways meaning the prophet meaning Quran meaning guidance meaning he has your response was that the Quran negates it but and which I challenge but you said don't ascribe to Allah that which he has not said specifically so Allah has not You said specifically said you're missing the information because you keep interrupting me and not listening.

[1:47:02] You said I apologize if let me let me not let me finish up. Can we get through one point without being interrupted? Let's speak on this point. Let's clarify. So when I said do Iute a lie about God, it's because you're saying the best of mankind. That word there best of mankind is the word where I'm saying that you're attributing a lie. I was saying that you're interpretation.

[1:47:25] Why is that a lie? When I said to you that it's inferred, it's inferred from the worst. Mercy for the whole world is the best of mankind. Nobody else has that. Nobody else has that title. I can't. Okay. So, when he's being inferred in that position, the word best is qualifying actual like account where at this point someone else can be better than him in regards to however you want to explain it.

[1:47:53] So you don't have solid you don't have actual solid grounds to stand off by saying him best especially when you say and oh my god man I can't land a point I can't land a point like I honestly I can't I can't land a point like I I haven't finished point so so what's the point that I'm making so the point you're making is that you say this verse cannot it cannot be inferred from it that he is the best of creation.

[1:48:28] Now put that aside. We accept your thing of not accepting inference. But now you're going around in these circles and you're not listening to the point that I'm making. So you're talked you talked about something in regards to attributing lies to God. You want to say that Muhammad is favored. He's a mercy to the people. Sure. But all of that cannot infer that now he's all of a sudden the best when there are verses negating that.

[1:48:54] Can you decide what one minute man one minute one minute because there are verses and your duas that people say in the sunnah that negate that where they put Abraham above him and even in the books when someone came to the prophet and said to him the best of creation Muhammad allegedly said that I that is Ibraimisam. So in your own books, you're showing that Abraham has more favor than Prophet Muhammad.

[1:49:22] And in the Quran, it shows that. So when you're going to say the word best of creation, it's it's it's debatable. Now, we're talking about the we're talking about there's no look, you could say such and such a people have inferred from this verse this. I disagree with them. But to that you said that no, there's no inference to be made. Nobody can infer it. Now you are saying how do you know how people's minds work?

[1:49:48] Some people I infer it from that. Now you say well look I no that's wrong. It's not even I disagree with your inference. It's wrong. Now I asked you what breaks the fast and can you show me where Allah says this? Now you show a verse where Allah does not say it. Now you say oh but you can infer it. So I said but I want you to show me through the Quran where Allah says it.
