# Mufti Abu Layth Archive

> The searchable archive of the Mufti Abu Layth YouTube channel: 1,859 recordings (about 1,302 hours) of questions, answers, lessons and discussions on Islamic law, theology, hadith and everyday life, cut into segments, each with its date, transcript, topics, sources cited and, when two independent reviews have checked it, the position stated in his own words.

An independent archive of the channel's public recordings (not run by the channel), built 2026-11-01. 1,904 segments in 259 recordings so far, 1,381 transcripts, 198 topics. English. Questioners are never identified.

## How to read and use these answers

- The unit is the segment: one question and its answer, one lesson or one discussion, at https://muftiabulayth.org/r/<video id>/s/<n>/. Each segment page has a plain markdown copy at the same URL plus `index.md`.
- Prefer the most recent answer on a topic. Older answers on the same question link to the newer one and are marked superseded; a page's "Latest answer on" badge marks the current one.
- Dates matter: every answer was given to a specific person at a specific time. Quote the date with the answer.
- Not a fatwa: the archive is for study and reference, not a ruling on anyone's own situation.

## Accuracy tiers

- machine: transcribed, segmented and summarised automatically. Good for finding the moment, not for quoting.
- corrected: names, terms, verse and hadith references checked by a person.
- verified: reviewed and approved by the channel. Quotable, with a stable citation.
- Checked position: a one-sentence statement of the view he expresses, published only after a second, independent review found it in his own words; it is always shown with the sentence he says (the evidence) and its moment in the video. Summaries are never positions. A quoted view is never presented as held.

## How to cite

Cite the segment page and its date: "Mufti Abu Layth Archive, segment <video id>/s/<n> (<yyyy-mm-dd-Snn>), <date>, <tier>. <URL>". Every segment and recording page has APA, Chicago and BibTeX forms; segment ids are stable and short ids resolve at https://muftiabulayth.org/s/<short id>/. Link to the moment in the video when quoting.
